Barbara: "I know nothing about sports, it looks absolutely ugly, I don't want my name anywhere near it. I'm in!"
He should have said " if we make it in flat black it would reflect less light and not stand out " we flat black our chicken coop wire so it doesn't reflect sun. Looks way less " prison "
Lol 😂
Classic
This is very true... Very classic... and it works bothside!
She saw how everyone else is always saying "im out" and shes going for a change new slogan " its ugly and for those reasons im in"
Mark: “The minute you walk out that door with or without a deal, I’m buying one for my backyard.” Made my day.

It's not necessarily a better deal. It's the exact same evaluation but scaled down.
@@raultelles9896 Definitely not the same valuation. The original “non-negotiable” was a 833k valuation. He counter offered with a 1.2m and they met in the middle at a 1m valuation.

i wouldve not wanted her after she said its too ugly, she didnt like it...
Barbara will be like i like basketball and hence I am out
She's always after the person behind the product.
Because she thinks its ugly! otherwise she's out.

This show and Pawn Stars have taught me that nothing is non-negotiable. You can always counter and a lot of times they'll take it.
Makes too much sense so I'm out

I don't know anything about that and I don't feel like learning so I'm out

Sometimes the Sharks have a real number in their head for what they want. For instance, let's say the entrepreneur wants $300k for 15%. The shark will offer $300k for 30% and then when the entrepreneur says $300k for 25% (That is the actual amount the investor wanted all along).
But if the shark said 25%, then the entrepreneur will say 20%.
Barbara: “I know nothing about sports. Your price point is too high. It’s ugly. If my neighbor had that up in their driveway I would kill them. And for that reason… I’m in.”
lol ridiculous
It's like she's from an alternate universe :D
I read this before watching the video and thought it was a joke.
Hahaha she just saw a challenge on the product to make it look good 😂👏
She even said it at the end… “I’m gonna make it look good” 😂😂😂 innovation changes the world guys
“We retail for 14.95”
Me: “shit I’m buying right away.”
“$1,495.”
Me: awwww man
SAME😭
Dude the EXACT same here. So bummed.
They really should have several different lines.
1) the Rookie - just the net with a guided net sending the ball to you for like $50 (or what ever you can get it at)
2) the Pro - What's pictured here. (but make this the highest margin)
2) the All-Star - which has more going on with it (some detection software that adjusts to you as you move around the court, and something that keeps track of makes and misses) have that for like $6k
Good I'm not as crazy as I thought
14.95 yeah right
I’m glad he didn’t say no. I know that has to be tough when you have a limit going in, but in the long run, that $50k will mean very little compared to the growth they can offer. He should also be proud for getting Mark and Barbara to come down 5% on equity after Mark said it was non-negotiable. That is the much larger number, imo!
My thoughts exactly. When he came down to 25% I was like take it dude. Best offer you’ll get lol
@@wallaceluna6241 yeah, but he heard Barbara say 250k for 20% its all in the head
Agree man. $50K is nothing when Mark is on board. That’s 50% of the job don right there.
Well said.
They didn't end up closing the deal if you google it.
I am so happy for him that he got a deal especially with Mark and Barbara!
Mark likes working with Barbara.
I don’t blame him. She’s actually an incredibly talented and savvy business person. She’s also (like Mark) completely self-made in terms of her wealth.

I don’t think Mark would have done a deal if he had to do it alone. I’m actually glad Barbara went in because I think the product has massive potential. She is a nice person at times. I think if Arod were to have done the deal it would have been far greedier a deal and he had too much respect for the guy to do him like that. I’m really glad he landed this.
It is SOOO refreshing to know someone else out there in youtube world has positive views towards Barbara. ❤️🧘🏻♀️
I wouldn't had ever bought this as a kid spending eons of hours shooting hoops. Part of the training is chasing after the ball so doesn't hit a car etc....
@@shac9131 Well that’s because you likely did not have ambitions or aspersions to go pro.
If so you would probably know that all college and pro level players use similar units to practice shooting.
@@shac9131 as a basketball player i don't feel like this is a part of the
training or grind. If anything it takes alot more time and energy. A shooting machine also helps simulate actual in game situations such as catch and shooting the ball off a pass. Theres millions of kids who want to play professional basketball. The separator is yes the natural talent but the hard work put in too. If i shoot 1000 shots a day and someone else is shooting less then me i'm more likely to have a better chance at scoring then the other person. If i work harder then one and have talent then im more likely to do more well. Chasing rebounds takes time off the 500-1000 shots made method. I dont really know how to explain it anymore simpler as im trying to explain it as less complex i can. Thank you.

I understand everything you guys are saying but I still disagree. You don't need a machine.
Geesh... If only I could take a damn video to explain it
I cant believe this guy actually had to think about the offer then negotiated. He was given an offer by the one shark he needed.
Dude if they have interest that means it has success, they only wanna make money and have control making you a nothing
One thing if u think money over control of some one is worth something much more then it’s not of value at all

So many lessons learned in this episode. From the investment side: never invest in anything that you don't understand; on the entrepreneur side: networking/access has a value.
All the value of business angels/ Early VC is in their network, it takes you from being a nobody who doesn’t know which door to knock to someone who can get through any door

Cool
Honestly, I wasn't expecting Barbara of all sharks to kind of open negotiations, I wonder if she only did it just to get Mark involved? Either way, kudos to them!
If they get an engineer on it, they could have the return track the shooter so that the player can shoot freely from around the basket . Great idea
Could, but that defeats the purpose of being the cheapest on the market. Everytime you add more complexity to the product, the cost of production goes up, making the end price go up.
@@EsOoBaCtvp Then make 2 products, one that can reach the more afluent consumer and big nba clubs as well, and one which can be branded as the cheapest in the market. And peole could pick what they like the best
@@EsOoBaCtvp actually, an engineering wouldn't necessarily make the product more expensive. Most engineers try to find ways to use the least amount of money but still have the product be successful. At least that's what all the engineers I know do. I think an engineer could make the product cheaper.
Guys... there were engineers involved in the creation of this product. It's not like some scrappy entrepreneur is designing that thing.
@@moredots I think the issue is that the entrepreneur isn’t an engineer. He didn’t have the opportunity, so no fault of his own. An engineering founder could’ve optimized it further.

I’m going to be 100% with y’all. I just recently got my grind after it being delayed for a year. I was coaching a lesson while using it for the first time and it legit fell apart. It is cheap made and not worth 1.5 grand. Instead buy a doctor dish which is double the price but works like a champ. Or don’t be lazy and get your misses.
Just by looking at it, it looks really cheap..
Especially how low the pass is given back.. it looks like the ball won’t travel far if you’re shooting threes
Yeah I was gonna say...the action and construction do not look robust or like they are gonna last. It's one thing to have that kind of construction if you're gonna sell it for $89.99, but for $1500 it has to last no matter what the cost to make it is.
I don’t believe you. For all I know you could be a jealous hater. “I’m going to be 100% with y’all.” was not enough to convince me like other people. Maybe put a UA-cam review on your channel if what you say is true. Warning to other people and that goes for any shark tank video, people lie in these comments all the time.
I def wouldn't pay 1500
Lol 90 dollars you cant even buy a basketball
I saw this machine in every NBA practice games
Very genious!
Grind hoodie is what the Astroworld guy Ayden Cruz was wearing in his latest interview... they're doing so well
Barbara lucked out here. It's a decent product that has a bad manufacturing cost and price point but a lot of potential. These deals hardly ever get to her because Lori or Mark get consumer products alone. She put herself out there as going half to mitigate risk and that's how she got Mark.
One of my favorite episodes!
I laughed out loud when Mark said Barbara's skill set is her people skills 🤣
Cuban always acknowledges and respects the hustle even if he isn't going for the deal
Good for you man! Good for the sharks too!!
I could see these in every school, gym, after school programs & so much more
Nice, I'm glad he got a deal. I think over time the cost to produce will drop a lot. This is def something that under served (because lazy politicians) schools can afford and allow kids to train with as well. Aloha to Grind!
I have NEVER heard Mr. Wonderful give praise I took a double take!
Omg he almost blew it. You have an NBA owner you’d take that at any valuation. My god.
During the picth they retailed at £1,495 now $1,795. Better margin already. Plus website features buy now pay later options. Cool
@ 7:59, "3 Sharks are out which leaves only Mark and Barbara... which means 4 sharks out and the Mark is the only one left."
I’ve been wanting a product like this for a long time. I always wanted to buy one of those pro machines, but like the guy said you had to plug it in somewhere and there was no way to transport it anywhere. You had to have full-time access to an indoor court to make it worthwhile. I think this product needs some significant improvements, but I like the direction it’s going
I think a portable version for like 2k would probably be pretty successful
This is why you never became anything worth oxygen on this earth. Death is a compliment to your fat self.
Now Barbra is starting to invest.Nice deal
5:35 I like how Mark had to add "I can shoot" XD
Barbara: "I only do slam dunks, and for that reason, I'm out"
I love Barbara. She gets what she wants. No thrills. No gimmicks. Straight forward. I love her.
And for that reason, she's out
When I was watching this it was crazy to hear the sharks think the $1500 for it was expensive when they’re worth millions if not billions i’m not worth much just a middle-class guy and I spent over 2000 on my daughters pitching machine don’t get me started on her bats and other gear. Most parents spend whatever on their kids sports . 1500 is really cheap
Love this one!!!
Great pitch and product my eyes are getting misty. No matter what your background is you can make more of yourself with heart and hustle. Just have faith and work hard.
Barbara: “oh he does suck” for that reason I’m out lol
I love the product and will definitely get one for my dear son.
Really happy he took the deal, especially with a guy like Mark.
This guy is so chill.
Good for him. I would accept it too. 50k is nothing compared to having 2 sharks as your partners. Barbara is right, it looks ugly. While it doesn't matter to actual players, you lose style points for the promotions. Some people would buy a product just because it fits their style. And I'm sure Mark's team knows how to keep the production costs low. He'd get back the 50k in no time.
Out of all people i did not expect Barbara to make an offer..but this went really well for the guy he got a great deal
Agreed. Then it become a good deal because she was able to convince Mark into it (not that he wasn't a great lone candidate being an NBA team owner).
Instead of a machine that launches the ball could just use a fabric slide. Could carry in a smaller case and be less heavy.
Barbara and Mark have always been my favorites. Mr. Wonderful too.
He ended up selling the technology to Krispy Kreme. They are using it in their drive thru window passing out fritters.
Hasn’t delivered a single unit and got a $1M evaluation, impressive
I hope someone from grind sees this, if you made a portable one for quarterbacks and baseball players. With baseball players you could expand to being able to load a hopper and get some batting practice. If there already exists, then good for them, if it doesn't I hope they see this. I know it's been out for awhile but if this but my first time seeing this.
Great idea, hopefully the hydraulic return strength is variable for different depths of shots.
barbara: “i liked watching mark suck at it, therefore i am in.
OMG. I'd give you $300k for 20% easy for this project. And the right price for the product is $1999, but the best profit would be not in sales, but rent!
Mark just being nice to allow Barbara to try to make a deal
I love it, i want one. I spend more time chasing the ball than shooting.
Barbara: "Your flying high five didn't reach me....for that reason I'm out"
Barbra saying the product is too ugly.... like wtf
It really looked like a meat grinder at first and that’s scary lol
I can see where she’s coming from, but not sure how much better looking she can make it
Exactly it doesn’t even look that bad

Some of these clips are like a decade apart
Mark had it packaged it up when he shot his first shot!
The most impressive part of this is that he drained the first shot off the glass. The bank is open baby!!

I kinda like having to go retrieve the ball. It’s cardio. All that jogging adds up. Plus: Free throwing isn’t like darts IMO - you can’t just be standing there “in the zone.” Your _whole_ _body_ needs to be pumping.
