The way Luther Vandross transformed a song into his signature was the BEST. He took a song and made it his own…..and always BETTER than the original. He was a multi-talented artist. I miss him terribly.
The host lady is right, his voice cuts like a hot (golden) knife through butter. So smooth, so elegant, so rich and warm. Plus he's really quite funny and charming when he's not singing too. An all round class act and just a nice guy.
I was lucky enough to see Luther in concert twice. He was exceptional! The level of professionalism, musicianship and vocal expertise was truly outstanding. I've attended many concerts in my 61years and Luther is by far the greatest male singer I've seen.
He made a huge impression on my life that I named my only son Vandross. People think I'm weird but I'm proud to have come across this man's music. So for context, I told my family, play Luther's "the impossible dream" in my death bed and see me wake up!
This interview was great to watch- Luther so relaxed and I see a lot of mannerisms that just popped out if one knows what to look for. Luther was a closeted man and felt he had to be 1) because he wanted to make his mom proud and create less drama 2) he felt that his ability to create his music would be a distraction to his audience especially the ladies who just loved his delivery of his music and lastly artists who were openly gay typically in those years lost their careers due to stigma and discrimination. Today he would be embraced by so many if he were an openly gay man so when he created or re-envisioned a song a lot of his music is a message of yearning for love or the difficulties of being alone. His voice carried weight to the truths we all seek, acceptance and love. You are the power of love Luther, love power.
Wouldn’t it be lovely if he could have vocalised that he was gay at this time,I feel sad for the way he had to live his life at that time but I feel he 2as a really happy man xx
There’s one coming out from Sony called Luther: Never Too Much, directed by Dawn Porter!! I just saw it last night at a film festival and it’s fantastic. I can’t wait for new generations to see how talented this man was :)
Hands down, the Best male singer I have known in my lifetime. So blessed that I was able to go to one of his concerts. We miss you Luther. Your legacy lives on.
Gott gibt den Menschen solche Stimmen, damit sie Gott damit loben. So wie Whitney Houston. Alles was wir bekommen jeder seine Gaben, sollen wir für Gottes Ehre einsetzen.
This man... beyond words. Luther was an amazing vocalist, songwriter and producer. His personality was beautiful. He's the best male voice of all time to me and the King of R&B/Soul 👑💖✨
I wanted to say something. One day I will be dead and gone. You cannot copy an original. But I learned to sing more efficiently, just by listening to Luther's music. Young people, you can do that to. Luther will be in heaven, hope to see you people there. Dec 2023.
What a treat! Just relaxing on a Sunday morning and came across this interview. Luther sadly passed when I was a young girl. So, while I knew and loved his voice and music I don't recall ever seeing him interviewed. He had a beautiful and fun spirit. I sense some low self esteem regarding his looks/weight. I wish he knew that he was beautiful. Not only that, whether slim or not, he had a gift that was so much more meaningful than a 34 inch waist. So special, and absolutely gone too soon. Rest Luther 🤍.

Luther Vandross though you're physically here with us, we still feel the aura of your presence as though you're still here. You've immortalized yourself and have proven your worth. You've always proved yourself and weight. You're a maestro, a genius, and you've carved a niche for yourself.
An amazing talent and gift. I enjoyed his albums when they were released. My cousin was married and he and his fiancée asked me to sing “Here and Now”, during the rehearsal after singing the song, my cousin told me, “cuz, it didn’t really sink in that I was getting married until I saw you singing that song! The wedding was beautiful, wonderful. I received a request to sing the same song for a member of the wedding audience and I did it. But the magic is pure Luther! Rest in musical heaven, Luther, I’m sure you and Whitney are singing many duets together! 🙌🏾🗣🎤🎼🕊🎼🎤🗣🙌🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Heute haben wir auch einige gute Sänger, das wird es immer geben. Aber diese aus dieser Zeit sind Unikate, die gibt es nicht mehr. Was man heute leider hört über Sony und P. Diddy ist die heutige reale Welt. Leider.
I must add that the guy was gorgeous I always wondered if he knew just how Blessed he was, apart from having the ability to sing so beautifully and touch so many people, he still managed to Truthful to himself,?
It does look like we all slept on the job because how did we all miss taking absolute care for such GOLD. We all now cry over spilt milk. Listening to you songs Luther is now the only consolation. Miss you. Rest in everlasting peace.
Luther seemed like such a sweet, likable man. His voice was liquid gold ✨️ one of a kind. My 1st dance with my husband at our wedding was to Here and Now. RIP LUTHER
One of the best voice I've ever listened. I always come back and listen to Too young and other songs that he sang and I found about him at 30.But I listen series before his songs but I didn't know about him. Bless you, wherever you are Luther Vandros! And thank you..
Luther said he took a 16 hrs bus ride how did he get to Overseas tours lol his voice still resonates amazing no beyond amazing he is tbe Voice Rest in Peace to Luther all his Siblings and Mom
I can’t believe people really didn’t know, or denied. Just watching his interviews it is so overt. He deserved a better life where he could have totally been open.
Omg, who is this lady? I have never seen her! She is clearly kind of too bougie to know David Bowie, which is hilarious, but she actually did a bunch of research on Luther. This was not a bad interview at all, and I think she pulled it off splendidly Luther was divine, as expected. Thank you so much for posting this gem!
I want to imagine that there is a world and time where Luther Vandross fully accepted who he was and celebrated it and found love and was the best vocalist he possibly could be.
Take notice young people, this is real music and real singing!!!❤❤❤
Miss Luther Vandross, so much!!!😢
What a beautiful human being. RIP Luther, my wedding song to my 1st dance was Here and Now!! Still my favorite. My date was 10-30-21 ❤
Luther was a very rare breed he had the ability to transform you to any place in space and time, and he was a beautiful soul bless him
Seh ich auch so. Er konnte mit seinen Augen so strahlen, was ich noch nie bei einem anderen Menschen gesehen habe.
Who could ever replace this man,he is so gorgeous, inside and out xx❤❤
The way Luther Vandross transformed a song into his signature was the BEST. He took a song and made it his own…..and always BETTER than the original. He was a multi-talented artist. I miss him terribly.
Not better than the original. Johnnie Wilder is a beast himself! Luther Vandross has a wonderful voice!
Once he'd "LUTHERIZE" a song, it was his 💙
The host lady is right, his voice cuts like a hot (golden) knife through butter. So smooth, so elegant, so rich and warm. Plus he's really quite funny and charming when he's not singing too. An all round class act and just a nice guy.
He's funny and I love his crispy voice...
I was lucky enough to see Luther in concert twice. He was exceptional! The level of professionalism, musicianship and vocal expertise was truly outstanding. I've attended many concerts in my 61years and Luther is by far the greatest male singer I've seen.
You are my name indeed.
He thus far is the GOAT❤
Greatest Of ALL Time!

My two favorite male vocalists are Luther and Sam Cooke.
His voice was so smooth, rich, full & warm. Beautiful tone.

Even though he's not with us physically but his spirit still lives on.

He was so relatable, poised, and charismatic here. I love this interview. A legendary singer and a good spirit.
If only we had gotten that Luther and Whitney duet he mentioned during the interview. That would have been EPIC!
Wow a beautiful voice 😊

He was very comfortable with her. She asked all the right questions.
If someone could just do a Documentary about Luther!!! It's Long Overdue 💜

Das sag ich immer über Whitney Houston. Aber du hast vollkommen 😅recht über Luther. Die zwei wären ein Traumpaar gewesen.
Luther had a great sense of humor!

We dismissed it because his singing was elite. But, it was pretty obvious which team he played for.
He thought me accent, pronunciation and vocabulary.
