Replacing the Passenger Blend Door Actuator: Ford Flex

  • When Mrs. Kat started complaining that the heating and air conditioning in her 2017 Ford Flex wasn't working properly, I wasn't quite sure what she meant. After a drive I realized that no matter where we set the temperature on the passenger side, the passenger was getting blasted with full-heat air! Even in Canada that's not good. Since the driver's side worked fine, the likely culprit was the blend door actuator. After ordering one online, it was time to get cozy underneath the dash and get things back under control.
    Thanks for watching, cheers!

Great video capturing the task to replace the actuator. I had the same issue. Your video was great inspiration and clearly stating part number saved me an extra trip to auto parts shop. Keep up the great work.

I had to watch and admire the "ease" of this repair. I'm obviously envious as I had to replace the door on my car, which was an all-day ordeal that included windshield removal.

You needed Top Tech to do this. Those little hands would fit better than those ham hocks you’ve got lol. Great job brother.👍👍🇨🇦

My 97 Ford pickup had the same issue. I bought a repair kit made by 3M to fix mine. You simply tape the blend door shut in October and tape it open in May. Also if you're lucky the glue on the tape will let go in late April and the AC is ready for summer. Cheers

Great work on the actuator replacement. A little bit of hackery is always acceptable when it's hidden, necessary to make a job go faster and can be compensated for in the end product. I swapped the winter tires this past weekend on both cars. It's not really spring yet here but I think we've seen the last of the snow. Look forward to more. Be safe and stay well.

Ahhh Sherwood Park. I knew that sounded familiar! The WHL team near me had the great Carter Hart as their goalie for years. Thanks for the great video! I think I'll give this a shot and save a bunch of coin.

Driver side took me 4 hrs and part of console and radio removed
Its not to bad. I just took my time to make no mistakes
Ford really make it hard I just didn't want to removed the dash
Be careful with the plastic cogs that hold actuators
One of me was a little chewed up i used a dremal tool round it out a but and it popped right in

Aww crap, I'm sorry! It's the way of UA-cam, I have very little control over it. I can control WHERE they go, but not how often they place ads on those spots. They also seem to hit some folks harder than others, for some reason. It sucks!
