    I have owned my Acura RDX for six years. I still get a great ride. I have never had a mechanical failure. I have had to get new tires and the brakes had to be repaired twice. I am purchasing a new one. I have never had a problem in the snow. Everybody’s taste in cars is different. Japanese cars are made well.

    Thank you! Finally someone brings the attention to all those touch screen in vehicles these days. I always said they are an distraction to the driver. Safety laws says don't operate the cellphone while driving because it's an distraction. Touchscreens are no better it's just as distracting as the cellphone. Thank you! For bringing this to attention.

    • @cliffm8112

      Well I guess the car manufacturers cannot keep everyone happy. If the screen's are causing a distraction then cover it. Problem solved. I own a 16 mdx. I set my screen and never adjust it. Just be prepared

    • @everestezebuilo9224
      @everestezebuilo9224 4 роки тому +1

      Touchscreen is a welcome development that has come to stay for many good reasons. The safety regulation I'd love to see is about what function should be in the touchscreen and what shouldn't be.
      The regular functions that the driver uses while driving should not be in the touchscreen; things like HVAC controls and radio volume and so on. The touchscreen should be used when parked except it has voice control. This is one of the things I hate about newer Teslas where the A/C vents are adjusted in the touchscreen. Imagine playing video game just to adjust the airflow.

      Yes, you can maintain a touchscreen but smudges are inevitable down the line (couple years)

      Pierre-Richard Romain depends on your needs. I drove it but I prefer the larger size of the RDX and the SH-AWD handles quite well compared to Quattro
      You get quite a powerful vehicle in the RDX with a lot more safety features at a lower cost than Audi. That and the reliability & cost of maintenance of an Acura hands down wins over an Audi.

    I like your video it’s very clear and straightforward good job.
    A lot of car manufacturers are going to the push button type design for the gear selection. I really don’t like that feature, it has caused numerous accidents and deaths years ago since people don’t realize they’re not in park. I drove my little brothers half ton Dodge ram thank God I put on the emergency break because I wasn’t in park. I also kept reaching for an imaginary shifter.

    • @ravgill6156
      @ravgill6156 3 роки тому

      It honestly takes maybe a few days tops to get used to it (IMO anyways). It even has a feature where if you turn off the vehicle in gear, it’ll automatically change it into park. The foot off the pedal though, I can see for a day or so before you’re aligned with it.
      The infotainment system takes even less time to adjust (which is funny that a lot of people complain)
      It’s usually a weak point in most videos, as it’s a new system, of course you’re not gonna get used to it in that short of a time frame. Give it a day or two and you’ll find it much easier. But no, the opinion is half-baked and completely missed the getting used to it aspect

    I picked up my new 2020 RDX up today. The steering is incredible responsive. I like the Infotainment Center because it is very user friendly. I came from a MDX, and I do not have all of the little upgrades I became used to in the MDX; like the turn directions with the Navi System in the the center Multi Information Display. I still am learning the technology of the car, but at this time, I can say that my biggest disappointment in the RDX Tech Package is that there is no 360 degree camera: to get that, you have to upgrade to the Advantage Package. I am sure that the Marketing Department won on that discussion. It's very disappointing for a car of that caliber.

      I test drove them all (and others like the Q5, F-Pace, etc) aside from the XT5 (wanted something bigger than it). Personally I liked the RDX the most. Not only does it have solid safety features (matched only by the Lexus), but it’s quite large in size coupled with solid power. The touchpad interface is slightly better than the Lexus though imo. Further, and idk if this is still the case, but the Lexus didn’t have a pano sunroof option, which I enjoy a lot in my RDX. Don’t get me wrong, the RX is a solid vehicle, so worth checking out to see if it suits you more
      But of the ones you mentioned, the RDX & RX will also have the lowest maintenance costs as well which is a good bonus haha (something a lot of people don’t consider upfront)

    The only flaw in my 2020 RDX Advanced SH-AWD is the touch pad isn't always responsive. My solution though is simple: I use Apple Car Play to control Apple Maps, Apple Music, Apple (audio)Books and Apple Podcasts almost entirely with voice commands: "Play my music"; "Navigate to XYZ"; Play XYZ audiobook"; "Play XYZ podcast." Overall the RDX is a terrific car priced thousands under the competition. Highly recommended.

    I used to own an acrura tsx. it was by far the best driving favorite sedan I have ever driven. With that said, the new center stack touch pad on the rdx is a nightmare to use and trust me you have to take your eyes off the road to use it. And it you happen to click into a area you didn't want it's several steps to get back or LOOK DOWN for the home button. It's also glitchy with the interface to apple carplay

    The touchpad was always a mistake. Lexus stated that it realized this almost immediately, and they pivoted back to touchscreen in just a couple of years (ie., on its competing suv NX). However, it took Acura until 2025 to return to touch screen and get rid of their touchpad. Toyota/Lexus had later said that its research was weighted toward Japanese drivers who don't mind having to look down at the pad and the push button gear selector (that set of gear buttons was originally totally flat in 2015, laid out horizontally where the touch pad is now rather than raised and tilted upward as you see here in this later 2020 model). The touchpad, as well as the set of buttons gearbox, led the driver to look down too often. The Japanese driver didn't mind at all, but Americans like to keep their heads up and looking relatively forward, not down.

    Overall, this is a great smaller SUV. However, the steering wheel hurts my palms at the base of my thumbs after 15 minutes of driving while at 9 and 3, the auto stop/start idling is annoying (you can turn it off, but have to every time you get in the car)...and with the turbo you have to really get on the gas to achieve an appropriate throttle response. I liked the 3.5L V6 in the 2017 better.

    I planned to buy a new RDX last year to replace my Acura Cl-S. After looking through the features and specs as it came out, and comparing to the new Honda Passport, I concluded that at every level of comparison, the Passport is the superior vehicle. The absolute turn-off was the single drive option, a 2.0 liter turbo 4 banger, versus the long proven 3.5 liter Honda V-6 and ZF 9 speed transmission in the Passport. At various trim levels, the Passport delivers a lot more, and it costs a lot less. The lesser put-off of the RDX was a dashboard layout that is so cluttered, it looks like the bastard child of congress between Acura and BMW. .

      Randall Stewart I like that naturally aspirated V6 in the Passport. But at the end of the day, the RDX is a much sexier and sportier vehicle. I looked at both. And I’m glad I made the RDX choice.

    • @jones786
      @jones786 4 роки тому

      The reliability rating seems to cite infotainment issues as the major problem. That may be a problem but it can be fixed, even via over the air updates which this car has, and also doesn't really go to mechanical reliability. Brake squeaking was also reported but brakes are one of the easier components to fix in my opinion. So this reliability rating seems less significant than it sounds.
      The real Q would be reliability of this engine and transmission. It's a Honda Civic Type R engine also used in the new Accord -- so it will have the same reliability as those cars (which I don't know, but unless you hear about a crash in Honda Accord reliability, you can assume it's excellent). I'm not sure about the transmission.

    • @Dochorahan
      @Dochorahan Рік тому

      I have a 2019 and the infotainment works perfectly. No lag or issues. I think it has been fixed after the OTA updates. The transmission and motor is used in the Civic Type R and Accord and they sell many accords, and they wouldn’t put a bad engine in a Type R. Also, consumer reports is always biased and paid to favor other brands. It’s unfair to say this is unreliable due to an infotainment that can be fixed with updates. The brakes on my 2019 are fine and no squeals, most people replace OEM brake pads and rotors anyway it’s cheap and easy. The NX Lexus is way more expensive and has less features and looks feminine. The Lexus RX is not sporty to drive at all and gets terrible MPG if it’s not a hybrid. The BMW is sportier and better MpG but more expensive to fix and maintain and less comfortable , same with Audi. The SH AWD is a big selling point and only would consider Quattro or Subaru Asymmetrical AWD to be similar. If reliability is a concern, sure there might be a few lemons, but most of the issues now have recalls or TSB fixes and are non issues. The vehicle at heart is still a rugged Honda and a great deal for how many features it has.

      Very hard to know what to make of the RDX. All reviewers like it; that is a good sign. Reviewers are good for how the car is when new. Most say the mileage is worse than advertised. It's the long term reliability where Consumer Reports is important. I think they are agnostic to brand and seem to be very accurate. I put a lot of weight on their reviews and long term reports.

    In my opinion, the touchpad or trackpad (whatever it's called) is more distracting than touchscreen. Either way you will look at the screen. With the touchpad, you look down at the touchpad to locate it with your hand then look at the screen while moving the cursor with the touchpad to know where the cursor is before clicking. This is worse distracting than a touchscreen. In touchscreen, you just go straight to the icon and touch it then move on with driving. I'd rather a touchscreen than a mouse and this is one-step backward for Acura.
    The rear of the RDX is really beautiful but the front looks a bit odd. The pentagon grille is just not getting done right. They've got to rethink this grille. I prefer the older grille.
