Sam great video. As always you’re on to something here where you bring the working class comparisons that people want to see. Sure everyone loves a Super Car match up, but to see what every day drivers have in their respective driveway pitted against each other is entertaining as well. Considering there is little to no drag races on UA-cam between the Q5 and RDX. Certainly makes for good water cooler conversation. Well done brother. Keep them coming!

Acura has always been an underrated over achiever in performance and reliability vs. the European autos. With Acura's recent bumps in lux quality it's a serious contender now.
What Acura has been a performance car? Not one Acura on sale can compete with M cars, AMG, Cadillac, or any other sports cars other than the NSX. And that gets killed by Corvettes, Camaros, Huracans, McLarens, and especially Porsche.
Honda in F1 nuf said…all around performance and endurance…i will take that over all the short term “performance” any day…

I could lease any of the vehicles you mentioned, but the only one I would purchase is the Acura.
All my neighbors have the German cars, they can do that because they drive 15 miles a day. I drive 60-100. So, your examples simply can't compete with the Acura, despite costing much more. I can buy the Acura and still put away 500 a week.

@@brolyv5802 Acura makes a very reliable engines that can handle higher boost levels. My 2.3T 08 RDX sh-awd is still running strong with +180,000 miles with Hondata+ETS intercooler+K/N for 290-300 hp/tq since 2010.

@@honda116969 my old 2013 ATS4 2.0T was making almost 400 lb-ft of torque on 92 octane. The 2016 Buick Envision 2.0T making over 360 lb-ft of torque on E85 blend all on HPTuners software and my laptop.
Acura really needs a Type S RDX! This is already plenty fast, a type s would be awesome. It’s too bad it’s not coming until the redesign.

Acura will release the 2022 RDX (Non Type S) later this fall, then spring 2022 after the TLX and MDX Type S have been released - the RDX is next in line. I suspect to see it April 2022. 3.0L V6 Single Turbo 355hp, 354lb tq. Should make for an interesting machine. $60,000 Canadian Dollars, tell me what will match it for price?

I love how you drive in all those various modes and realistically. Most drivers can identify. Would you be able to show some stats such as 0-60 and quarter mile times? That would be interesting to see how the times change based on the dynamic settings of these fun, premium, luxury rides that is within reach!

I just bought mine two weeks ago. My 2008 TL Type S had a catastrophic failure. Extremely suitable replacement and I’m not a crossover person but I’m impressed

Sam, you should do the same comparison between the RDX and the BMW X3 with the same sized powertrain.
Forget X3, Gen 2 RDX would smoke a BMW X5. 280hp and no Turbo lag because it's a V6.
I am sure BMW will be quicker, ZF transmission are legendry even though X3 30i is not equipped with B58.
Can you do a drag race with the RDX A Spec and the Mazda CX-5 Turbo? That race I would love to see.
I just recently purchased a 2022 Rdx Advance w/SH-AWD and it's a great Suv. However, I'd like to see how it stacks up against the X3 BMW, Mercedes Glc 300 and the Lexus Rx 350 on the track like you did with the Audi Q5 Sline.

I have the A-spec RDX myself and love it. Bought it from North Acura too..lol. You should also do brake test. As much as we love going fast, it's also important to see how cars and SUVs with their weight stop in good time from say 60km to zero and from 100km to zero. Should add them to all your videos
The brakes of that acura are bullshit, i almosr crash a car going 95mph and i had to put the brakes god lord i put them on time i didnt hit anyone but yes they are awful

Car and driver rated the Q5 at 14.2 1/4 mile, and RDX 15.2 quarter mile. Either the Q5 driver doesn’t know how to launch it or I smell really bad bias

2021 Audi Q5 has an unreported Launch Control feature fyi. Sad it wasn't used to see the difference in the Drag Race.....put the car into Dynamic Mode + Stability into Sport Mode, left foot on the brake, right foot floor the gas pedal, revs at 4K = Let go of the brake pedal :-) (you're welcome)
Doesn’t Sport mode for the RDX just tighten the suspension & steering? Not anything with the RPMs & shifting? That’s what it feels like in my 2019 Advance. I’m curious now.

For my opinions: Acura RDX has a right 272 hp pair to its multiple gears at high RPM and about Q5 it has enough hp but less torque pulling itself when 7 gears shift

Now that rdx won, could you do the same vs lexus nx, MB GLC and bmw x3? I think this class is what most people go for when they want a luxury suv and they live in the city. Would be nice to see how all compare to each other.
The Lexus would be the slowest overall with the BMW being the quickest, the GLC and RDX are around mid pack of this segment
@@drivescene6747 I test drove them all, to me the rdx and bmw felt the quickest, audi q5 a close 2nd, then the GLC and lexus was definitely the slowest and didn't feel as premium ride. I would like to see them dragging against each other by somebody else though. I didn't test the infiniti qx50 because the drive train with that cvt shouldn't even be in a luxury vehicle and I wouldn't consider buying it at all.

You are a great reviewer but cameras show you'd better give the actual drag racing test to someone who'd trigger the launch properly. We all think "press the gas and that's all" however breaks-rpm-timing combo needs more than that.
Hi everyone, so ive had a 19 ilx, a 21 tlx, also a 21 rdx and a 21 ilx. All had faint oil smell coming thru vents. And rear main seal leaking oil. Allow a bit more than 2000 km possibly less. Look for small oil residue or leak at fly wheel cover.
I want to see a drag race between 2020 HONDA CRV,TOYOTA RAV4,NISSAN ROUGE and HYUNDAI TUCSON.

@@mion1981 Yeah it’s very torquey, but the 6 speed auto is holding it back. I’m speaking from experience as I daily drive a 2019 CX-5 Signature turbo. I’m sure the RDX would creep up at higher speeds.

In normal mode the audi quattro plus ultra disconnects the rear wheels so thats why it was slower than the acura but in sport mode all four wheels were ready ... good job acura

Yea, you're right. The sport mode was dropped for 2022 RDX. Now it's just sport mode which is the sport + from previous years.

The Q5 has launch control which was not demonstrated. It’s subtle but it’s in the manual as well.
What is it?
Shift to “S”, TCS off (single click), depress the brake and then the throttle. RPM will clock around 3K and release the brake within 5 seconds when you’re ready to launch.
No way even a fully spec Acura beats any Audi under any circumstance, or any other German product for that matter..
Honda engines are probably the best overall engineered in the world. I would outrun a V8 in my 1992 Prelude.
Take these two with 75k miles. Which one would you take to drive coast to coast without breakdown worries. Acura.

Personally, given that Honda/Acura is the number one engine manufacturer in the world, it would make sense for it to perform better. Both Audi and Acura make neat cars, but Acura took the win in this video.

I have every incentives to cheer for RDX and be super happy about it smoking a German luxury rival. On other hand my ethics and conscious make me hate these type of biased and paid-for videos. This dude intentionally upshifted and messed up torque delivery of a CLA to make a Kia win! On paper, practice, both companies' numbers(!) and every other Real car journalist CLA easily beats that Kia but not here! He had to make Kia dealership happy. Same here, at the very best case scenario my RDX mayyyyy keep up with a Q5. Remember Q5 can do 0-60 under or around 5 sec and RDX in 6.2 seconds. These are official numbers and are confirmed by trusted and respected car journalists. You can use your own research and logic to come to a conclusion

You didn't use sport + mode in the Acura Rdx. Along with sport + S-mode and sport+ S-mode manual . If it beat the Audi Q5 without that. The rdx would win by a stretch with it. Bc sport + changes the gearing a lot.

I don’t think anybody in their right mind should still be buy Audi and Volkswagen. Almost every mechanic workshop I’ve been to in West Africa has a Volks or Audi that has been abandoned by their owners. They make really beautiful unreliable cars.

Where's the Rav4 Prime?
The Q5 has launch control but clearly no one bothered to use it. The dct is designed to do as you ask, but you got to tell it what you want to do. If you want to drag race you use launch control. If you want to keep revs high for better response on curvy roads engage sport mode. If you want smooth comfort leave it in auto or comfort. The mode makes a big difference on this car and a little rtfm goes a long way.

ACURA TL some model year variants have 310hp.
ACURA RLX HYBRID has 400+hp
There’s a thing called the gentleman’s agreement in Japan they capped the cars horse power to under 299hp but with some modifications you can easily make more power
