I'm an ISTP and a bass player/audio engineer "I like pie. That's no lie." would be followed by 20 minute instrumental. I also can see coming up with a song with the ENTP would be a creative fun.
What is it with istps and bass? Like, I'm an istp and that's the only instrument i've seriously considered learning.
I'm an ENTP.. Should we make a song together to test that theory?
As an ISTP, I’ve often wondered why we don’t have songs about food. It’s extremely relatable to every human alive. And relatability is one of the key components to writing a hit song, right?
And am also a big fan of the lost art of long instrumental segments in songs.
Your song with two lyrics and a long jammin’ instrumental part afterwards sounds like a good idea to me!
I kind of imagine it like the "My name is Giovanni Giorgio, but everybody calls me Giorgio" - tune
Kinda like Eminem when he raps and isn't telling a story
ENTP was SPOT ON. The beat is good and the lyrics SAY IT ALL
Yeah, but she didn’t have to call us out.
True, but I think if I wrote music it’d be some Bloodhound Gang shit. - ENTP
The beat is pretty gd
the part about recording it on the phone is SO ACCURATE
As an ENTP it sound like any rap song, I'd write something more original. Though I'm not a music writer.
INFJ in the video: What rhymes with crippling despair?
Me -infj: My life
Unfair ?
Falling down a stair.
Life is bound to be unfair.
The others glare.
Against you, anyone can dare
Because no one can really care.
Pulling down my hair.
Hugging a bear.
~ INFJ
Actually made my own depression poem called "The Eternal Anaesthesia," but I changed the author to Anonymous. I won't be sharing it either, as it is suicidal.
@@jehmarxx oh gratz
@@jehmarxx I hope you find what is ought to be,
life either cages your mind
or sets you free
flapping your wings in a cage of a body
brings none but pain in a heart that's foggy
don't wrap your wings in foil-
or lay your hands in cuffs-
or numb the ear Gogh would've cut off..
i hope things would get better for you, my deepest regards
Crippling despair
Nobody cares..
INFJ - lol
i love that you dont stereotype ISFPs like every youtuber does, you give them a personality instead of saying "art machine beep boop beep" SDHSDGHS
EXACTLY! I feel so seen on Kristin’s channel
INTP: Lyrics aren't abstract enough man, just turn it into a tone poem.
Oh yeah, and don't forget the obligatory 20 minute long jazzy improv section.
😂Jee so true
Who the hell are you, Flying Lotus? XD
He's also an INTP
I don't know how to make the tune but I like how words fit in poetry. Intp
“I need to sit with that for a few days” id be offended if it weren’t so accurate-
Or a few years.
Speaking from experience teehee. 😅
Really? I didn't buy that skit, until I saw your comment. That's intense.
ENFP is such an accurate representation of me working on anything. Like when I’ll be doing school work and trying to write an essay in one night after procrastinating for weeks. Or writing a story. I have a good 10 books I started and never finished and it makes me sad that I can never finish my ideas. But also I’ve been writing poetry and lyrics and songs since I was 6. Very good way of getting energy out
I'm also an ENFP and that is just like me!! So many ideas, so few finished projects...
Incredibly relatable 😂
As an INFP i related more to the ENFP than my own type
I'm an ENFP writer and I was literally waas just writing before coming onto youtube and ahhhh
@@thegoldenlight271 Right? Oh dear... 😂
INFJ: What rhymes with crippling despair
Me, INFJ: The loss of her, whose love so fair / That ideal I had of her and me / The fantasy 'twas not to be / Past me goes her sight / What would have been my delight / Eyes of care, they truly be / for others and not for me
🥺💞 Please write a song, my ENFP heart got so happy reading this 🤩
Linger not, within these thoughts / Though challenging it may seem / Life is what you make of it / Go out and catch a dream!
for life has lost its gleaming flair/ and some would say that no one cared/ so alas i sit and think about/ how people never seem to doubt/ that their joy would never run out
INFJ side of me came up with this, ENFP side of me is using it to procrastinate on my school.
Man, you guys are good. When the INFJ in the video said that, all I could think was "Hair...."
the longing I bear / for what was there / in this heart fair / burdened with care -INFJ
As an INTJ music producer/audio engineer I have to admit that you've managed to capture my songwriting approach perfectly.
Yup. Can confirm.
Totally spot on
fellow intj artist, my art process is very similar.
So me but I am an INFJ
Really?
I'm sorry. That seems stifling.
This reminds me of when I (INFP) was trying to teach my INTP little sister on how to write poems. I was all about letting the poem take its own direction and ideas as it goes and we make/break the lines for them to rhyme naturally, while my( ISTJ) brother was suggesting making a database of words that rhyme, and use the ones close enough as a subject then write the lines pertaining to that idea.
My little sister cannot make poems cause she doesn't get poems.
"she cannot write poems because she doesn't get poems." as an intp, this is exactly how I figured it'd be as I was reading this comment.
Why is this so cute though 😂❤️
-fellow INFP
I just compare poems to song lyrics. Take out the chorus, or at least only use it once, and it's basically a poem. This is exceptionally true with most rap lyrics.
-INFX
INTJ songs are like onions.
-What, they stink?
No...
-They make you cry?
No.
-When you enjoy them outside people give you weird looks
Well yes, but what I meant was they have *Layers.*
Omg like ogres!
Unlike the Earth in INTJ’s song
let me guess: Tool?
@@TilnaorTool is definitely 90s INTJ music.
INTJ music by era:
1970s - Pink Floyd
1980s - Dream Theater/Iron maiden
1990s - Tool
2000s - Meshuggah
2010s - Animals as Leaders
'Catch33' is a masterpiece.
I’m rather picky when it comes to songs I like but my ESFP daughter is a natural and amazing songwriter.
Love your profile picture!
@@mister-b33 Thanks. The Man I strive to be.
INTJ here who seldom writes poem, rap and songs. Can confirm that we are unable to write fun and upbeat songs. There always has to be a message and many hidden layers. Spot on Kristin
👍👍👍👍
I (INTJ) tried writing a poem once about a sunset, and it turned into a dark story-poem that involved the truth about why the sun never rose again in the morning costing a human's humanity and siblings killing each other before the heroic sibling that wanted to bring back the sun even had the chance to do it.
I think INTJs are physically able to make bright, sunny poems but might not be mentally inclined to do so because we see that reality is full of darkness. Perhaps it is the Ni/Se combination, combined with enough Te to directly (literally and metaphorically, when combined with Ni) address what is going on in our heads. Without a ton of thought about the public's potential reaction. I personally feel an almost-moral obligation to be real with people and myself, but I am unsure of whether this is an INTJ thing or simply a me thing.
I drew a picture for therapy. My family saw it as dark and depressing, but I felt it was a thought-provoking interpretation of my mental state at the moment as well as an illustration of the joy I was feeling.
@@alicialexists oh, I once tried to write a poem about sunset, too. Turned out as poem about the twilight and other stages of the night, while someone was dying, and ending with them dying at dawn. Till this day not sure how it ended there.
Writing positive / happy things is very hard, they turn out not good enough, kida cheesy, but the dark ones... they have layers, meaning, depth.
You might have guessed by now, I'm also an INTJ.
Spot on!
As an INTJ poet and music composer, I care for depth and layers in my work. They might not look apparent to people who are muggles, but they are clearly there and you can pull each of the layers out with a specific "code" I have embedded using certain words or certain musical phrases in the required places.
Intj
As a teen, people thought I might have been depressed because of how deep and dark my poems and songs were. Like, I would win contests but leave my audience needing hugs and therapy. My happy things were so childish and stupid tho
Yeah, I wrote something for the school and my teacher asked me, are you okay? I was like... yes... why? (The grade of the text was the best) XD
Oh yes, Intj happy things are childish if not toddler-ish :D I learned the secret weakness, and now all I am getting for my allied Intjs as gifts are childish cute things :D Let's see how that one goes.
oh my good, i t is so nice to read this. Cause i allways thought, if i do some things, i think i am crazy, childish, loosing my mind cause it feels like this if i am in an mode where i say Okay, lets just try some Social stuff, that others do. Sometimes it would be fun, but i dont do it cause i think, that would be too exaggerated, possibly a kind of delusion
I'm an INTP but somehow I'm a mix of the ENFP and the INTJ. The "OHMYGOSHIJUSTGOTANIDEA!!" and "how the heck do I make this less dark?" are so relatable
Or you could just write a doom metal song and let all the darkness out. :)
Same
It’s called “doom crossing: eternal horizons” the bets mix of both genres😌 -enfp
Are you in Ravenclaw?
Same
INFP IS SO ACCURATE! I'm always thinking so hard about lyrics! It ends up sounding more like a poem than an actual song though haha
Plus, the procrastination/perfectionism... "I'll just sit with that for a few days."
@@offcoloratura YESS
ENFP is literally me when I’m writing a song 😂 It’s like you have watched me in my room.. 😶
However, I am quite good at finishing stuff🙃
You probably have developped your Te and Si as well then.
Lucky you 😭
ENFP and ESFP clips were absolutely poetic
As an ENTP I’m really tempted to finish that song.
As an ISFJ, this is it! My songwriting process! I think of how I'm feeling and then try to tie it to a memory and think of what I want to say. Then write!
Also I would totally listen to Sandcastles
INFJ here. Maybe 6 years ago, I started getting into music and making songs. One day, my classmate (who I recently found is an ENTP) wanted to make a song with me. We ended up making three songs about the hopelessness of the world and the necessity for each person to change for a better place.
Also, I taught him how to rap. Ever since then, it is present in his every single song.
As an ISFJ I have never felt more seen and understood. I don't know how you managed, but "sand castles" is EXACTLY the kind of poem/song I would write. 😍
Yes I'm an isfj too and that's what I felt ❤️
As an ENTP, I figured the next part of the rap could go something like "The speed at which the world is falling is incredible, Bill Gates is just like Thanos he is inevitable." Now it's time to think I'll finish it while I eat the same takeout I always get.
🙌🙌🙌
lol good one
YESSIR MY MAN 🤝
"The system is rotten to the core, Taxes keep rising as the machine demands more." Here
Omg I love that.
"Lost hopes, crippling despair
It's only fair
we have those now
Figure when, figure how
We're gonna leave the dark behind
And find
The reason for it all"
There you go, INFJ. I just hope that isn't too dark.
Wow fellow INFJ
I wrote by dreams down on paper, and put them in a jar
Now it’s cutting at my feet shattered on the floor
And I have not the energy, to collect the broken glass
All that’s left, is crippling despair- Will this darkness come to pass”
“But i’m tired of sitting in this shards on the floor
If we can pick ourselves up- heal the paper cuts
That promises left that never were kept
Cause we can write our dreams once more
Find a reason for it all”
I mean kinda a bit too dark but umm inspiration bath struck to CREATE-
ENFP 😂
@@wisteria1739 I think the author is INTP, idk how I know this. Maybe I remember.
INFP was so accurate. I've literally done this on several occasions.
Me too. I’ve actually “unreleased” music because I was no longer satisfied with the lyrics.
@@nickmerchant4588 Honestly, that's how I feel with the songs I've wrote, it just doesn't feel right for me, even to the songs I released here on YT (I know this sounds like self promoting...)

My pleasure!
I agree! I appreciate the nuance of your videos a lot!
@@dudewiththehacky thank you! 😁
I got so happy when I noticed the ENFP Si clutter in the background 😂 guilty as charged
Wow! I didn't even notice that! But then again I'm just an oblivious INFP here. XD
ENFP here:
My top tip is to collaborate, preferably with an Ni Dom. They'll get you, but keep things focused.
Pretty sure my bandmate is INTJ :)
I feel like INFJ would write a sad love song about their imaginary boyfriend/girlfriend, then cry because no one understands them and they're still single.
INFJ here, totally not speaking from experience.
ESFP's song is so brilliant! I loved it! And when Kristin mentioned introverts, it was hilarious!
ENFP's workspace is spot on. That's how my sister's desk and room looks like 😂. To be fair, all about ENFP was accurate (By the way, that footage was completely necessary)
These subtitles make my day
"exhales, full of feels"
"montage no one asked for"
ENFP is exactly like the music composition teacher youtuber, Guy Michelmore, whom I get veeery strong ENFP vibes from, or maybe, probably even, Ne/Fe ENTP :D
・ω・
・ω・
・ω・*looks up "Ne/Fe ENTP"

:O
I am probably not an ENFP but instead an ENTP that is stuck in the Ne/Fe loop for the past 5 years and I don't use Ti EVER that's why this cognitive function stack test said Ti is at position 7 or something
(Ne = Fe > Fi > Ni = Se > Te > Ti > Si)
Oh wait, but Si is my 8th function according to this cognitive function stack thing,
......
>:( too bad, that also doesn't fit...
Still thanks for mentioning this existing *cries in internal confusion*
@@prisle "Loops" don't exist as far as I'm concerned. Check this out:
ua-cam.com/video/BGYsqjSxPhQ/v-deo.html
Ne-Fe-Ti-Si is one of 32 legit function stacks. There are "jumper" ENTPs who have their Fe before their Ti. And that goes for every MBTI type. The other 16 types, with their middle functions switched, aren't accounted for by MBTI.
The ISTJs goggles on the mantel hahaha
Really felt for the ESFP in this. As an ENFP I've already picked up and dropped all my hobbies these last few months because I really need some casual socialisation. The alone time to do the fun things I like doesn't feel as good if I don't have time to dazzle and be dazzled. I'm dying.
I'm sorry to hear it 😥 I hope things pick up for you soon!
Honestly, it's mostly my friends' fault. I was doing fine until they started having babies in South Australia that I can't visit! Then I remembered how pumped I was to go to SA...
But! I woke up singing so today is a good day!
Not only ISTJs googles, but INTPs books in the background makes the ambience of the personality, each one have their own... love how sometimes kristin references things wherever you less think
3:38 I don't know why the "GAS! GAS! GAS!" song came to my mind. 😂

If that song has an MBTI type it's definitely ESTP
@@hoccopus2719 Wow. Yeah, I would say so! XD --INFP

I swear this song is the most ESTP-like song I've ever heard
Omg she’s a songwriter too? My Girl is a multitalented quadruple threat! Acting, singing, dancing and now songwriting as well. And omg INFP is so true like i reflect so heavily on tiny details it’s Wild.
INTJ: _“BURY THE LIGHT DEEP WITHIN...”_
Omg i love that song, the edgyness.. :D
Wow your effort to nail their makeups, expressions, clothes and clothes color, their accessories on the mantel makes me have to re-watch a few times
I love how ISFP has inspiration leaves on hand.
Lockdowns are clearly crushing ESFP's based on the ending.

Really appreciate how the background changes according to each personality 😂
I was just writing lyrics for a song I am making and your notification popped up. You know us INFPs too well. Also, INFPs may take their time to get motivated into something, but when we become motivated, we give our 200% of effort and nail it.
The song "Sandcastles" sounds like something I would like, I can even hear a piano melody and a soft melancholic singing voice in my mind.
and waves crashing by the beach for practical effects
ok, the intj one is sooo accurate! As an intj artist, I pick a theme and try my best to convey the message by what ever skill nd tool I have, without going into my default style.
ISFP here. I don't know if this has anything to do with my cognitive functions, but I would probably procrastinate for a long, long time unless I had a hard deadline for writing the song. My scenario would probably look like:
*thinks about writing a song, but maybe later*
*gets a few ideas, doesn't write them down, and forgets most of them*
*finally sits down to write a song after several months*
that is if there is no inspiration or personal desire. hence her mentioning the need for inspiration. I notice that if I personally don't find something important, I will procrastinate till the last second and won't waste a lot of my energy on it, but if I am truly inspired my Te kicks in and I get all this motivation, therefore being able to finish a project way quicker
The ENFJ 😂 This is soooo accurate - I swear that I've literally had a list exactly like that since the age of 9 😂 As a matter of fact, most of the songs that I listen to are about ''how we need to heal the world'' 🤣
Enfj here, I literally have a song called Tomorrow we'll be happy, you can check it out haha
@@MarinaGalstyanCovers wow - it's amazing!! And indeed, the lyrics really do have an ENFJ vibe to them 😆
@@Maja-sv9we thank u dear!
"But the ENFP never came back..."
3:56 - This almost felt like a 4th wall break, but one where the characters slowly come to realize it instead of already knowing! The ISTJ is slowly starting to catch on that she is one of many characters inside one of many MBTI sketches...and that there is a possibility that she is being "written" into scenes that she would not voluntarily have become a part of. Lmao, I wanna see the plotline of this story!
Haha! This is great!
The ISTJ’s goggles are a window into a neighbor dimension where she can make contact with the narrator
As an INTP who constantly writes new songs, most of which are fully recorded and produced except for vocals, I approve of this. The only few times I've written lyrics that were actually meaningful and deep/emotional enough to fit the songs they were supposed to be a part of, I was practically having a mental breakdown and just vomiting my absolutely awful emotional state all over the music. Works very well, actually; 10/10 would recommend!
ESFP's song really has a "Don't Hug Me, I'm Scared" feel to it.
Can we appreciate the thoughtful decorations in the background?👏🏼
And the fact that the ESTP had nothing there but a bunch of bananas😂
The ENFP hits home once again * looks at acrylic colors and multiple paintings all across the floor that I started one evening - at 10pm cause I felt inspired af and of course had to do it IMMEDIATELY - and didn't touch again for 4days by now *
And last but not least THE OUTTAKE😂
Haha, as an ENFP pastor, that is actually exactly how I do my sermon prep!😂😭 I get so excited and caught up with what I'm discovering and preparing for that while I'm doing it that's all that matters and nothing else exists, then I get distracted and then go out and share it all with everyone I run into and then start another sermon on Friday🤦♂️
😂👍🏼
😄😄
I love how the stuff on the mantle change with each personality 😆
The “I like pie, that’s no lie” has now become an earworm for me
This was so perfect 😂 You had me pegged as an ENFP the entire way through! The spoon being in the way of drinking tea was the most accurate part of the video, I would say.
I love the attention to detail with changing the items in the background to match the personality type!!👏👏
ESFP was a rollercoaster of emotions, and then the extended cut too. I can imagine lockdown would be the equivalent of a never ending party for an introvert... my deepest condolences.
ENTP also sounded like a Rage Against The Machine song lol.
I had CC on & during the ENFJ it said, 'receives instructions from person on phone, with no intention of obeying them' 🤣 Great video as always!
Hahaha thanks!!
ISFJ here, just wanted to say that the fact that you even changed the items on top of the mantle shows how much effort you put into your video
Ok but let's just appreciate how she decorated the background for each of the MBTI types :')
at the end: "...introverts will never know how my sanity is dropping like a domino!"
such a MOOD!
Oh wow, Kristin, this video was particularly entertaining! Instantly one of your best and one of my favorites!! Every single clip felt accurate, and I could definitely tell when mine came up. You nailed it on the head that for an ISFP, the atmosphere must be perfect and there must be multi-sensory experience to provide the ultimate inspiration... But goodness sakes, the fact that it was a eucalyptus sprig had me guffawing for some reason! Especially with the subtitles... all of the subtitles were very *extra* in the best possible way!! Lol! Thank you for sharing your entertaining but wholesome skits!
Thank you for your sweet and detailed comments! 😁🙌
@@dearkristin You're welcome, and thank you for all the laughs and insight! Your channel has really enhanced my understanding of all the types, and now I can more easily identify them in daily life as well as spot them in your skits! Excellent artistry!
Far to the south, across treacherous seas,
where winds howl and waters freeze;
Here lies the land that harbors an entrance,
deep beneath ice, to a realm of resplendence.
But who would dare venture through this desolate place,
where all green has succumbed to the frozen waste?
Only those who can brave the darkness and dearth;
Only those who seek Agartha; Tartarus; the Inner Earth...
Superb....you have got my attention. Keep going! :)
Yeah, yeah I would read that! As a poem, as a story, as a never ending book...
I like how the background objects change with each personality type!
I'm not one to comment on (relatively) old videos but I have to say, that INTJ was absolutely perfect. All my creative endeavours have that 'I can't just unload all my philosophy on people but instead have to find the best way to integrate it into something fun' approach.
P.S. Been binging your skits and quickly became a fan. Unmatched accuracy and great acting.
Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant! Your writing and scripting just keeps getting better. I really enjoyed the subtle changes in the background for each type :-)
Thank you!!
as an INFP and singer-songwriter, I can confirm that this is exactly how it goes
love that there are different things in the background for every type!
Okay, so I'll be watching all Kristin's videos with captions on from now on. A whole new world [cough cough] has been opened up to me.
Honestly I would listen to a song in any format if it had "She looked outside her window on that fine summer's day. And there was Mr. Butterfly, coming out to play!"
AND the ENFJ is funny.
ALSO the ENFP montage was just wonderful.
As an aspiring singer/songwriter myself, I always play random chords and mumble random words. I promise myself to get back to it but well, if I had kept my promise, I would have become somewhat of a Taylor Swift myself by this time.
-ENTP
I love how the background matches each type perfectly!!!
(AND OMG I JUST NOTICED THE ISTJ HAS THE GOGGLES IN THE SHELF. THE RAIN GOGGLES LMAO)
As always, the subtitles are a great, hilarious bonus. One of my pet peeves about modern music is how often the subject is "I". And sometimes it isn't directly, but it's still focused on the me. Good we didn't have that coming up a lot. Also wondered about how an INTJ could possibly believe in something like hollow world... then I remembered thinking's only their second function. No wonder. :P ... although the INTJ did get closer to finishing the lyrics than the INTP. So there's that. Edit: shouldn't you, of all people, know the degree to which sanity is overrated?
Bahahaha
"but how do i present the in a fun and hip way" literally 'too' relatable
You somehow always know what’s on my mind when you upload a new video. How did you know I have been writing songs all week???
As someone who is torn between INTP and INTj, I did relate with both haha. Though I find my self relating more to INTJ in this situation
They're very similar types, and always get on smashingly. For example, the one person I know who loves Pink Floyd perhaps even more than I (INTJ) do, is an INTP. The lyrics are always phenomenally clever (and usually dark), but the best Floyd is primarily about: melody, melody, melody-in that order.
Exactly!
I'm also an INTP with strong INTJ traits and at this situation the INTJ won.
The outro song was funny. You are correct, me being an introvert, will never know how horrible it is for an extrovert to be stuck in a house with nobody to talk to. I would imagine it being the same as an introvert being forced to go to a loud and crowded bar or party with no escape in sight.
Dude! ENFP is so accurate. The level of energy I invest in a project when I first take it on is explosive, and then I walk away to literally eat food and I am off on another tangent already working on another project. (Also, I love the background that the ENFP got, coffee mugs sprawled around the house!! Hahaha, exactly how my place looks, amongst other unfinished art endeavors.)
YESS, INFP here and that fits so much!! I’m actually in the process of writing a song now along with some of my band mates and this came at the right time, I’m sending it to the crew.
i love how the background changes with the personalities!
As a songwriter who also has learned the personality types of most of the people I collab with, this video is spot on 👌 You captured my ENFJ tendency to not dive too deep in my emotions but encourage other people with what I've learned to something catchy.
I feel it is quite depressing going deep into my own emotions. ~ENFJ
@@daphventurer7475 Agreed. I usually share them in depth with close friends but not as readily publicly. Oddly enough the times I have shared songs about my deeper emotions people resonate with them.
I love the detail you put into changing the background for each type!
As an INTP who has a phone full of songs that I have written with everything but lyrics, this hits a little too close to home.
Same bro! And I’m never happy with the few lyrics that I have written
INTJ here, this is definitely similar to my thought process, trying to figure out how to convey a complicated idea in a way the audience will be receptive to. In fact, I once wrote a song for the ending of a story. (Although it was more of a poem since I didn't compose background music. Though I did imagine the music.) I spent some thought trying to figure out how to metaphorically convey the essence of the storyline and how to allude to its spiritual themes, doing so in a pleasantly colorful way and without being too "on the nose" about it. I think it took me an hour or so to finally form the lyrics. Overall I was happy with the end product.
I hope I'm not the only one who noticed the object in the background shelf changed according to the type. It's because of such details that we enjoy your content so much Kristin ! Thank you for entertaining us !!
The Domino's ad!!! Oh my gosh. Also, my ISTP friend LITERALLY wrote a song called "I like pie" in middle school.... umm...??? Scarily accurate. Your videos are masterpieces.
OMG! As an ENFP songwriter, I can talk about thi-
Nevermind Kristin managed to sum up my entire process and I’ve never felt more called out in my life 😭
Let me rephrase. I’m an aspiring songwriter. I have a document full of 50+ song ideas, most of which I have brainstormed or started in some fashion. I’ve taken more care into organizing the document than I have into finishing any of the songs. Only one of them has gotten far enough to have finished lyrics and backing chords. Oops.
I also can’t write music, because I spent two years learning perfect pitch (on accident, so no commitments here) and now I’m a bit too lazy to learn to read sheet music. So I record my songs on video (since it’s easier to remember snd reproduce them that way). And I make 25 minute brainstorming videos for the ideas that sweep me off my feet. Those videos are me attempting to vocally put together the song and the instruments and the words in real time. And oh my goodness, I sound absolutely insane in those videos with the way I mumble and go off on tangents and randomly start belting out choruses, all while pacing the floor endlessly. (So me all the time, but with supercharged inspiration and Ne.)
The one good thing about making music like that is that I’ve gotten quite good at making up lyrics on the fly. I’ve challenged myself to record improv songs before, where I just pick a key and sing whatever. I’m not bad at it, which scares me. I wouldn’t be surprised if some of the first songs I finish end up being songs I created in one fell swoop.
To my detriment, I often get perfectionistic with the ideas I like the most, and then they never get done. I get all sorts of ideas- songs about random things, songs about my experiences, songs where I’m addressing people, even songs that are musical adaptations of stories and characters I want to write… but finishing is SUCH a stumbling block. I’ve promised myself I’ll finish the latest one I came up with and I’ve been coming back to it consistently for about a week now. Progress!! Wish me luckkkk!!
What helps me (INTP) is knowing how many mistakes are in successful songs. Even a lot of songs I like have imperfections that I think are obviously imperfections and should have been done better. But the songs *work,* and I take heart in that.
Wow I relate to this comment way more than I should lol. You'd think having 13 years of music education and perfect pitch would make things easier but I just end up getting sidetracked and thinking how every chord combination or rhyme has probably been used by someone already and that I can never be truly original or something similar to that. This results in a ton of unfinished drafts in my notes that I tell my myself I'll finish one day (but I'm not sure if I actually will) Oh, I'm an INTP btw
@@restlessmosaic I’m slowly, slowly trying to tell myself this, hahaha. Like, if the perfect lyrics or structure aren’t coming, who cares, definitely not me, time to just keep writing anyway and enjoy whatever happens. (I do try to tell myself stuff like that out loud because all of my instincts tell me to run away from every shred of uncertainty or imperfection.) Once I learn to suppress the urge to throw away every imperfect project for a perfect, untainted idea, I think I’ll be able to finish things.
Even better- the other day I finally realized that no matter what, there will ALWAYS be a new idea. Which means the current one will ALWAYS be discarded. So I might as well finish it and make it decent while it’s at the front of my brain, right? That’s been pushing me forward, just slightly.
Thank you for your lovely advice, I’ll remember it next time I’m tempted to get up and walk away from the process 🤩
That sounds great! Making your own song is so much fun! I never wrote lyrics actually. I just like to sit down with my guitar and playing chords randomly. Music means a lot to me. It gives me the opportunity to ,,express'' myself. It's the best way to relax and recharge after a busy, long day. I say don't let yourself get distracted and finish those songs! (no pressure, just an advice😀) Good luck!
@@larryplotter2607 Looking back, one of the best things that could have happened to curb this issue for me was that I started making music on my parents' Pentium I, and it had a fault in its memory that, if a song got on the corrupted bit, the project was unrecoverable. So I had to make a song and then delete the project or else I couldn't make another one. It got me into an extreme linearity on songmaking that I still basically have 20 years later.
As for originality, I do a fair number of plagiarism/sanity checks throughout my projects (as a musician and a lawyer, it's doubly worrisome for me). What I've found works for me is that, if it's within 5 bpm of something similar in a song I like, that's indicative of borrowing too hard. Ultimately, one reason my songs are working better this time around compared to years ago is because I'm taking parts from many more songs (in disparate genres) than I'm used to. If you think of existing songs as blueprints for problem solving rather than blueprints for sounds, I find that it helps.
FWIW, my music is done as Restless Mosaic if you want to check whether my approach is working. (I've been in the background of two videos on this channel, as a matter of fact, because Kristin is wonderful and nice.)
Really like the attention on details. All the accessories displayed on background or near the character or the details on the character are meaningful. Love that.
Every character is well played. Almost to the point of developing a split personality. Lock down E insanity perhaps? Poor E. Mercifully there is the comments to pass time and get a glimpse of human sharing.
Wish you a return to weird parties with strange and interesting people soon.
INTP: Studies the history of songwriting, pop music, rock music, goes down the UA-cam rabbit hole of Nick Cave, Tom Waits, Joni Mitchell, and Barry Manilow. Decides to become the human equivalent of an AI songwriting emulator, combining the styles of Husker Du and BTS: "Smooth like canola oil, and it makes no sense at all." DRUM SOLO.
I'm an ESFP songwriter, and I usually come up with my music long before my lyrics. My lyrics are more like dialogue than poetry, and if they happen to rhyme, it's totally incidental
INTJ here who dabbles in songwriting when inspiration strikes. I do not poetry either when I create lyrics, whether through spontaneous song or a word processor. I simply express what I want to express (usually not personal feelings unless they are a fictional character's and not too mushy and romantic), in the way that the narrator would be most likely to express them if s/he were singing instead of me.
Ok the accuracy for every single one of these is insane!
As an enfp writer HOW DARE YOU CALL ME OUT LIKE THIS
5:08 was pretty good
As an INFJ singer/songwriter I 100% agree with this. My music tends to be depressing or about sadness and things like that lmao
INFP here, same TvT
Okay now I'm starting to think you have a camera feed of my life or something. I'm an INTJ who recently wrote lyrics for a song about how we're all probably living inside a simulation.
Woah, awesome
Oh dear god, you have just verbalised my novel-writing struggle. I swear those are the exact words.... #INTJ
"Let's not go out tonight
Let's not get social
I've got a volume of Kafka
A coffee cup and a sofa
All alone for three days -
best weekend ever
Networking with myself
I'm so happy together
No I can't come out tonight
I'm busy dreaming
Writing down my idle thoughts
Making lists of feelings
Tonight is a treasure
Tonight is our time
Tonight's an adventure
Tonight is all mine
Friday I'm not going dancing
Saturday: not having a party
Sunday: not recanting
Monday I'll tell you all about it
No I can't come out tonight
I'm busy dreaming
Sitting in the window sill
staring at the ceiling
Tonight is a treasure
Tonight is our time
Tonight's an adventure
Tonight is all mine
Close down the nightclubs
Turn off the light
Tuck in the youngsters
Reclaim the night"

HOLY SHISHKABOB THAT'S BOOTIFUL -entp
This was very creative, Kristin! As an INTP who has exercised his Ne quite a bit, I can identify with the plight of the ENFP. Oh, that struggle is real (did you know that there is a limit on the number of tabs you can have open? I’ve seen the real-life error messages. Quite puzzling and annoying, hahaha).
Now, I don’t know about other INTPs, but I wouldn’t forget the lyrics; however, I would spend an inordinate amount of time on whatever I would consider the fun part, and then procrastinate and stress over the, uhhh, not so fun part.
Keep making these videos, even if only for yourself, and yes: ESFP, you bring joy. I did detect the slightly hidden cry for help. And hey, lockdowns are hard for this INTP to: reduced hours mess up my carefully unplanned shopping habits. You know, grabbing supplies at odd hours, when I can efficiently move through the practically empty aisles. Thankfully, that’s not the case for me, yet.
I'm an intj and I love writting songs and the lyrics just keeps popping, but I criticise myself ALOT 😩
Don't criticize yourself, you're doing just fine:] seeing as you're intj I imagine you try very hard at achieving perfection?
That extended version at the end was fire
ESFP is so accurate… starts out all fun & sweet & then the ESFP starts having deep realizations about themselves & the world & everything just goes downhill
You have awesome interesting videos love you kristin
