In Ontario, there hasn’t been firearms for over 35 years, and they introduced the small OC foam canisters about 3 years ago. At the same time the OC was issued, they also gave the COs their own handcuffs, until then the COs were required to hold the inmate until the supervisor arrived with their cuffs. In the early 80s when I started, we would empty our pockets before going onto the blocks. On outside escorts we had Asps and a mk 4 OC foam.
Back that screw out all the way on your mag case, put a drop of BLUE LocTite (not red - use blue or it will never come off again) on the screw, and reinstall the screw, setting the tension to your liking. Great vid - thank you for posting.
I would like to correct those of you who assume correctional officers are not armed. Only inside of the prison they are not armed, the ones in the towers as well as the ones on the perimeter of the prison away from the inmates are armed as well as the ones who transport inmates.
For people confused about the firearms, at least for detention deputies (my job) for sheriffs we do all around transport, court, and detentions so we do carry firearms and train the same as patrol. We have the same duty belts as patrol
+Matthew Magana Just made a video on 3 tips for being a successful corrections officer: ua-cam.com/video/awcVBGxAmpE/v-deo.html Be sure to give it a thumbs up!
Jared Lancaster Every state and county department is different. In New Mexico, the state corrections academy is 8 weeks long whereas some counties only do 2 week long training courses.
I don't think you should be having to explain to people why you want to protect yourself. People are very backwards nowadays and are always against self defense, unless they're the ones requiring the self defense.
I concur. I spent 2.5 years in prison for defending myself from someone jumping me. He jumped on my back and stabbed me a couple times in the arms ( which I had to go to surgery for) and I pushed him off me and shot him 2 times in the chest. He survived and he was not charged but I was and I was charged for aggravated assault with a weapon. I was charged for 5 years but I got out on good behaviour. The law system is fucked up in my opinion
Nice set up great video. I been using Safariland basket weave leather duty belt with basket weave pouches for 16 years. The velcro on my buckles 94 belt wore out. I then went to a Uncle Mike's basket weave duty belt. It had the plastic buckle which broke after 2 years. I then went to a Bianchi basket weave duty belt and is very very nice and worth 50 bucks. Stay safe brother! Take off your silent key holder you want more room there garbage any way and we're out easy. Take off your badge to pin it to shirt were it belongs.
When I saw your mag holder I was wondering if you would mention the fact that the screw loosens itself. I'm glad you did! I bought one as well since I wanted an open top mag holder. Had it for a few days and returned it since every time I would draw a mag the rubber wheel on the inside would turn and cause the screw to turn out which loosened the retention. Granted we don't draw mags every day but it was still a negative that I didn't like. Ended up going to a Bianchi closed top, been good to me so far
It all looks new and not used much. When I worked Corrections, in Kentucky, the only time we wore a side arm was when we transported an inmate. The tower CO's and outside patrol had side arms and Mini 14's. We could not even have ammo in our vehicles and come through the front gate.............let alone a weapon, and you say you put yours in a lock box Inside the facility. What kind of prison do you work at?
+TheJj861 I have been too county and city corrections both with a buddy whose an attorney and inside the facility. NEVER have I seen a deputy or CO wearing their weapon. they deal with murders rapists etc. seems like a security officer who's a wannabe law man
idk what facility he's from but he doesn't work for a prison I've worked at a federal prison for 5 years and NEVER were we allowed to have a firearm inside the facility/institution.
nice setup, i carry a straight handled baton, handcuffs, pepper spray, flashlight (pretty bright one to), keys, radio, and a glove/medic pouch. and sometimes a taser. usually only in segregation though. we only use our handguns outside the prison,
It seems most people don't know the difference between correctional professions. Let me break this down to you. There are several levels of corrections. County corrections is at the local level. In County Detention all arrestees are detained awaiting trial. Once they are sentenced and if the sentence is longer than 1 yr they go to prison. Depending on the state detention Officers are usually a category 3 peace officer which means they can affect an arrest. In the state of Nevada correctional officers have limited arrest powers. Las Vegas Metro Police Department all Detention Officers have a side arm, taser, expandable baton, and OC spray on their duty belts. They go through an extensive academy which is about 4 and a half months of training. They learn the same things as their patrol side brothers in blue. The side arms have to be secured in a lock box once entering the facility including batons. This also goes for any law enforcement officer entering the facility. Also LVMPD detention officers can rebook someone in their custody on a new charge since they have that limited arrest powers. As for prisons, they are ran by prison correctional officers. Prison can either be state or privately operated. Private operated prisons are ran by civilians which means they are not sworn in or have any type of peace officer powers. I know state prison officers who have told me that their department won't allow them to get involved in any off duty incidents and won't back them up. They have to check out a department firearm for transporting inmates and only one officer is equipped with a firearm. These officers are not allowed OC spray, tasers, or batons. That is their policy within the state prison. Prison officers don't do any rebooking. They have to notify the police for the rebooking. So I hope this helps out anyone out there that wants to get into the correctional field. One more thing I want to say is the pay rate of a detetention officer is better than a prison officer in Nevada. Do research in your state before joining because some of you may be let down.
New Zeland DOC belt is a key pouch and a Personal Duress Alarm pouch. That's it. No pepper spray, glock, anything. We carry no offensive personal protection equipment.
Wow, you check out your handcuffs? That's such a weird concept to me. At my jail and all our neighboring counties we check out our side arms but not our cuffs. Sorry if this seems weird. But that astonishes me.
Alberta Correctional Peace Officers do carry a sidearm when transporting prisoners to and from the facility. In Canada it varies from province to province as to firearms use.
mo momo from New Jersey well considering a corrections officer isn’t a guard that would make sense. Corrections officers are peace officer and are trained with handguns the same as police officers
Yeah NY State Correction don’t carry guns into the prison but transport and off duty we are allowed to carry. NY State Corrections Officers don’t wear duty belts which I find weird as fcuk, we clip everything on to our regular belt. Yeah stupid I know 😂
Escort patrols do use weapons, oc spray baton and tasers. I know because I worked close with there deputies when I was a suburban police officer. We did a lot of prison escorts to.
Great duty belt set up very nice and clean. I use Safariland basket weave equipment and pouches. I switched over to the Tatical condors belt with the Cobra belt buckle since the plastic buckles were breaking all the time. I had a Safariland basket weave buckles belt with velcro but after 25 years it came apart.
We used to have to take the holster off cause an empty holster was considered intimidating. We barely started carrying oc spray. Still no asp or taser. We can wear gloves now that were also once considered intimidating. My department blows.
Great video, but I’d recommend switching from Bianchi to a different brand such as Safariland for the belt and pouches because I’m pretty sure that the material in Bianchi gear is known to cause some sort of cancer or something in the state of California. I’m not sure if it’s true, but when I looked on Amazon it had that warning on the product. Just putting that out there. But the video was great!
keepers aren't so much to keep your duty belt up but to keep it secured to you so if you're belt comes loose you don't lose all your gear...the last thing you want is to get into a fight with someone and them end up with your gear
I wrote in the second line of the description that the firearm does not enter the facility. It is for court, transport, and hospital duty only. Otherwise it's in a lockbox in the transport division.
Gavin Reddig It depends on the state that you live in. Here in New Jersey ,Corrections officers like myself are law enforcement officers. The word (guard) is severely frowned upon here because we enforce 2c state laws and 10a laws that govern the laws of the correctional facility. New Jersey recognize Correction Officers as police or peace officers but without title 39. State Laws that govern Traffic enforcement. New Jersey state and County Correction officers goes through a rigorous 14 to 16 week police academy. The training is parallel to a Street Officer training. As I said earlier we as Correction officers dont recieve Title 39 or defensive driving EVOC. Even in New York City NYDOC officers have the same exact equipment as the NYPD all the way through their correctional swat teams. Passaic County Sheriff NJ. specialized units are based out of the Jail correctional division. Every State is different. Some states take their penal systems seriously and some think it is a joke.
You must also be in a maxsec facility... the transfer unit I'm about to work for doesn't allow any on premises except for roving guard, lol. And the facility I train at, only the tower guards. No cuffs either except for supervisors...
This whole video is a little odd to me. I'm a former corrections officer and now a police officer. 1) the gear looks like it's barely been used. 2) your badge is on your belt, not your uniform? 3) The correctional facility where I worked even the Transportation guys who carried pistols were not allowed to take them home. They would come in every day, retrieve it from the armory, then place it in a separate lock box when they weren't using it. But, I guess New Mexico is a little more gun friendly than Maryland too. Most states are. Not trying to bust balls here. Just skeptical by nature. Stay safe out there, and in there, man.
It depends we're you are really he works in a county jail so it's different + a lot of officers were there badge on there belt my opinion it works better that way for me but different places different rules different ways. Officer-
Hey, so our facility used to wear the traditional "police" style butten down shirts. The state of New Mexico as a whole started to shift away from those and we started to wear khaki pants and black polo shirts. When we changed to black polo shirts we started wearing our badge on our belt. Also the gear is all in good condition because I only worked there for a little over two years. :p Look at this picture to get an idea of what our uniform looked like: main.abqjournal.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/b1_jd_16sep_prison.jpg
Mrs Burcer Where I am they carry MK9’s and MK4’s of OC and cuffs, as well as a flashlight and tac gloves or latex. The only people who carry guns transport or if your in a specialty post. As in towers or in perimeter.
I can see for certain posts, perhaps the tower, or main gate, or transport where a Corrections Officer should be armed but like you answered in a comment, what's the sense in reporting to duty with an agency issued Gun if you are just going to check it in and secure it, and basically not have it with you during your shift???? Just doesn't make sense to me. That's a cool set up but I could never work in corrections. Buddy of mine did it for a year and quit. He hated it.
I think it works well they have a gun I think all prison guard should have pistols but not allowed to take them into the cell house and have them off duty.
That's a real handy belt my brother officer. I wish we were allowed to carry that much safety equipment, all we carry is a 12 inch Barton, a key chain and a whistle for emergencies in an over crowded prison. We are only issued a firearm to carry to and from work if there is a threat to our life that has been investigated and confirmed by the police. we Dont even have stab proof vests
I was just wondering about your tattoos. Did you have any problems with them if so could you tell me. And did you get them before or after you joined. Thanks
Are you allowed to wear your uniform off duty I'm curious cause today I saw a off duty police officer I think he was he had no duty belt on and he was just walking down the street so can you or is it different for C.O's
I disagree. If you are taking an inmate to the ground, you will be laying on top of your handcuff case. In that scenario it would be reach to your side or back and grab your cuffs.
Hey guys I need some help. im buying my equipment for the academy. Im not sure if nylon is better then leather or basket weave ? what brand is better ? and the hand gun holster do you guys prefer ? Thanks
In Arizone us CO get a uniform allowance of $700 when we start + a monthly pay bonus to up keep your gear and honestly $700 is more then you need for 3 shirts 2 pants a duty belt and vest your radio will be state issued as well as some of the stuff you put on your duty belt again I can't speak for ever state but that's how Arizona is
What are the Velcro belt liners used for? And are they necessary? I've been looking to buy a belt but don't know if I need to spend the extra money on a belt liner. Thanks
Chandler Young This particular Bianchi duty belt setup uses a hook and loop ("Velcro") system where the inner belt is the "hook" and the lining on the duty belt itself is the "loop." As mentioned in some other comments, some people do wear belt keepers for extra support, and some people simply use the velcro. The velcro inner belt is not that expensive and I highly recommend it as it will keep your duty belt secured.
The velcro inner liner belt is supposed to attach to the inner lining of the duty belt to keep the duty belt and gear from moving around. Most people use the inner velcro belt in place of belt keepers.
awsome just what i was looking for i want to be a corrections officer when im done with school can i ask you a few questions ? 1. is it hard to join (what i mean is to be a prison officer) and how long does it take ? to join? 2. Do you have to have a good education (Basic?) 3. do you work in max security prison? 4. do you get Batons? 5. do you get to take your gun into the prison? thats all please answer as much as you can it would be great :) Thanks
1) Not usually. Most facilities are understaffed and are always hiring. 2) Most facilities accept people with a high school education. 3) No, I work in a county jail. 4) Not in my facility. Most do, though. 5) No. When I go to work I put it in a secure lock box. Hope that helps!
I'm currently in the process for California dept of corrections, I'm 21 but I have a juvenile record for some graffiti misdemeanor chargers. They are expunged now. Do you think I'll still get in?? Have you met CO's with records before??
***** You're fine. It's not uncommon for corrections officer to have criminal records. As long as you weren't charged with a felon you're OK. Good luck to you.
Okay thanks! I passed my written exam now I'm scheduled for my physical and turn in my background packet. Have you met COs with worse records? I just really want this job
***** Im not so sure about California but in Arizona its what happens after 18 that counts just be straight up you know hahaha but you should be fine, like i said though im not positive about California
You would be surprised, the Dept.is currently trying to hire 4,000 officers over the next 3 years. A minor charge such as yours will not be an impediment. What joint do you want to work for?
how are you guys trained in a speed/tactical reload..? because the standered 2 count, you would be loading your clips backwards...im not trying to be a know it all or just a jerk..im actually fairly curious on how you would reload..
I work in a maximum joint and the only people who carry a weapon are psv, gun tower, and transpo. No weapons actually go inside the facility other than none leathels like oc/cs gas and tazer. But I don't know how other states, government, or private prisons work. I only speak on behalf of my state
hello man would you please help me I live in the Netherlands and work at the environmental police and would like to order the belt you wear in America and send it to after the Netherlands you have a site for me on the internet where I have the complete belt with can buy all the bags?
Donald J Trump I wish all police officers thought that way some police officers look down upon correctional officer's I work at Missouri state corrections
Because safariland is 1000x better than any Blackhawk on the market. If you do any sort of LEO work you should never use a Blackhawk Serpa. Way too easy for someone to take your gun from you.
+dknisle1 I never said anything about what is the best holster. I said it is dumb that he picked a holster based on the fact that it has a basket weave patern. he should have picked the holster that worked the best and not given a crap about the finish.
see how that holster jams up when he tries to use it. imagine that's a seatbelt, your leg, door frame , other person or like in his case his oc spray. only thing that needs a trap door is a gallow. don't need em on a firearm.
In America you guys use firearms within the prison? In singapore we don't. Only for the external areas and for prison escorts. And even those 2 officers escorting 1 has no firearm but is armed with a T baton and cuffs
This is your duty belt but you seem unsure what what you have or what's called. I can look at my duty belt and instantly call out the name and use of every piece of equipment on it.
hey im back with another question. my question is do you get to pick your position when you become a prison officer i want to work in the Guard tower do you know anything about the guard tower (obviously you do hahaah) but i mean what it takes and what do you have to do to be a guard in a tower do you do different training or is it all the same and what do you get in the towers? if theres anything i missed about the towers can you also tell me some other things i may need to know about working in the tower as id like to know pretty much as much as i can about the guard tower. thanks for reading :)
I can't help you there, bud. My facility doesn't have any guard towers, and many correctional facilities are moving away from guard towers to cut costs. What I can tell you, however, is that all of the positions within my facility are rotated every single day - so Monday you'll work A Pod, then tuesday you'll work H Pod, etc. Keeps staff and inmates from getting used to a routine.
theallybarber14 Some prisons and jails do. They do a "bid" system where officers with the highest seniority get to chose their posts. The newest officers with the least seniority get the least desired posts, shifts, and days off.
CorrectionsGear All of this depends on numerous things. What state you work in, how long you've worked there(seniority), and/or if you work in a state prison or county jail.
+CorrectionsGear oh ok. Yeah it's different in NY they don't issue firearms unless like you said for transport or court or hospital duty but as far as to take home no. We'd have to buy our own firearm if we wanted to carry off duty
+law2037 In the eyes of our administration we are never really considered "off duty." We can be recognized by previous inmates anywhere, at anytime. When we are traveling to or from work we are in our uniforms and are even more noticeable so that's why we carry our firearms.
CorrectionsGear I think it would be a good idea if they could. At least for CO's in maybe a max security facility dealing with violent gangs and criminals. Just in case someone wanted to put a hit on you.
+John A i new a lady who was a prison officer, dealt with gangs in prison, she went home one day and someone who was connected to the gang slit her throat. she lived luckily, however she still has the scar, so i 100% agree with you, however here if we own a safe/locker at home we can bring our weapons home. however no gun.
In California, New York State, and New Jersey, DOC officers are sworn peace officers and can carry in every state without a permit under LEOSA (or HR218 as it was originally called). It may be like that in other states, but I'm not sure. Also, COs with NYCDOC have sworn peace officer status as well, and can also carry nationwide like the others that I mentioned.
in my state we are certified law enforcement so we are covered by Leosa H.R 218 which is the right of U.S law enforcement officers to carry a concealed deadly weapon anywhere in the United States and it's territories.
In Ontario, there hasn’t been firearms for over 35 years, and they introduced the small OC foam canisters about 3 years ago. In the early 80s when I started, we would empty our pockets before going onto the blocks. On outside escorts we had Asps and a mk 4 OC foam.
I work for California Department of Correction and we carry big MK9 and Grenade blast.
Michael Higgins the handgun is a Glock 22, it’s a full size 40. Cal. Mk9 is the spray they spray for pepper spray like defense
Back that screw out all the way on your mag case, put a drop of BLUE LocTite (not red - use blue or it will never come off again) on the screw, and reinstall the screw, setting the tension to your liking.
Great vid - thank you for posting.
I expected this to be the world's shortest video. Because where i worked the duty belt was from left to right: radio. The end.
I would like to correct those of you who assume correctional officers are not armed. Only inside of the prison they are not armed, the ones in the towers as well as the ones on the perimeter of the prison away from the inmates are armed as well as the ones who transport inmates.

we only use our handguns outside the prison,
The key silencer is excellent for holding your kevlar gloves, if you carry them.
Wrap the screw that keeps backing out with Teflon tape. Not lock tight tape Teflon stops the screw from backing out while not locking it forever.
Either all thats brand new or you take great care of your gear
At the time of the video it was only a few months old. A lot of it had been replaced with my uniform voucher.
Cold German Beer depending of the officer and type of job I've see duty gear last a life time and some went out in one year so it all really depends.
Charles Ashcraft I would recommend fox.
Cold German Beer that sound like something completely unreasonable I hope you can apply elsewhere and get into a good department.

Canadian corrections don't carry firearms period. Unless your in Maximum Detention ( Federal Prison).

Yes sir...that belt is your life line
We don't carry weapons in Pennsylvania unless escorting prisoner's outside of facility
COs in the prisons around me don’t carry sidearms unless they are doing transport.
Nice straightforward explanation. Thank you
I didn't know COs were allowed to carry a gun
Not inside the facility, no. But outside the facility, for medical runs, inmate transfers, guard towers, external security checks, etc, they can.
AmnScottNN and for what state is this in? Is that the case for most prisons? I've always seen unarmed.
I wrote in the second line of the description that the firearm does not enter the facility. It is for court, transport, and hospital duty only. Otherwise it's in a lockbox in the transport division.

You must also be in a maxsec facility... the transfer unit I'm about to work for doesn't allow any on premises except for roving guard, lol. And the facility I train at, only the tower guards. No cuffs either except for supervisors...
I heard that Corrections Officers don't carry firearms on-duty. Is this true?
No
Are you transpo? Because ive never seen a facility that lets CO's carry a weapon unless your psv, tower, or transpo
+evan miner I was transport reserve. I never carried my firearm inside the facility.
@@skarz505 what's the point in putting it on your belt then
@@wilfbm9067 becuz it get put in a lock block and wen it's time to do transport they are allow to put the weapon back into the holster
Look at this picture to get an idea of what our uniform looked like: main.abqjournal.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/b1_jd_16sep_prison.jpg
My husband is a CO and he’s not allowed to carry a gun in the jail, only a taser..... I’m sorry if I’m mistaken, but can you?
Mrs Burcer Where I am they carry MK9’s and MK4’s of OC and cuffs, as well as a flashlight and tac gloves or latex. The only people who carry guns transport or if your in a specialty post. As in towers or in perimeter.
If you don't need stuff on your belt, take it off.
Do correction officers have any authority outside the jail. Can they make arrest or write citations or have a patrol officer write citations?
Rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it
@@414mac you're not going to all of sudden need a silent key pouch
keith mcmellon I’m a corrections officer so it does help when your walking the compound and catch a inmate doing something they shouldn’t be doing
I dont think c.o's should carry live ammuntion only tazers especially if prisoners are unarmed.
Do correctional officers carry pistols in Indiana on duty in the prison? Seems like they should
I can see for certain posts, perhaps the tower, or main gate, or transport where a Corrections Officer should be armed but like you answered in a comment, what's the sense in reporting to duty with an agency issued Gun if you are just going to check it in and secure it, and basically not have it with you during your shift???? Just doesn't make sense to me. That's a cool set up but I could never work in corrections. Buddy of mine did it for a year and quit. He hated it.
I think it works well they have a gun I think all prison guard should have pistols but not allowed to take them into the cell house and have them off duty.
It's for my safety traveling to and from work.
Thanks
Is that the same duty belt setup for detention officer too?
Is it worth it? I'm thinking about becoming one before becoming a police officer
The basket weave material standard or is that optional to Department standards.
Very nice! Any advice for upcoming CO's?
+Andrew Padilla Just be yourself inside at work, don't try to be someone else.
The best comment I come across on here.....
Why is it always the black checkered leather, I feel like that's the classic prison guard thing
It’s popular among us in law enforcement.
Are you allowed to wear your uniform off duty I'm curious cause today I saw a off duty police officer I think he was he had no duty belt on and he was just walking down the street so can you or is it different for C.O's
How much does it weigh? Is it heavy and bad for your legs and back?
What about if you put your handcuff case in front of you it's easier to get to if you are in a bad situation
I disagree. If you are taking an inmate to the ground, you will be laying on top of your handcuff case. In that scenario it would be reach to your side or back and grab your cuffs.
Why don't you buy a streamlight stinger or strion I use a strion and Wi doc now has stingers on every post great flashlight
nice video i do have a question what kind of liner belt u use under the duty belt??
It's a Bianchi nylon inner belt with velcro (or "hook and loop").
Hey guys I need some help. im buying my equipment for the academy. Im not sure if nylon is better then leather or basket weave ? what brand is better ? and the hand gun holster do you guys prefer ? Thanks
I am in the process to become a CO. Do I have to buy a duty belt when I get in or do they issue me one?
+matt connolly Really just depends. Some facilities issue the gear, some facilities require to purchase your gear on your own.
In Arizone us CO get a uniform allowance of $700 when we start + a monthly pay bonus to up keep your gear and honestly $700 is more then you need for 3 shirts 2 pants a duty belt and vest your radio will be state issued as well as some of the stuff you put on your duty belt again I can't speak for ever state but that's how Arizona is
How many times a year do you qual on your pistol? is it mandatory?
Depending on the department. Usually its either every 6 months or every year.
@@bdogg20101 same. Every 6 month. 1 day shoot. 1 nighttime shoot
@@chisoxfan708 every department is different. And it also depends if you are on a specialized team. Some require more.
Whats the point of bringing a weapon you cant carry to work? You have a holster, mag pouch and 2 other pouches that are taking up space for no reason.
You wear that rig to and from work? OMG!
If your correction why do you carry? If you have to secure it once you enter
awsome just what i was looking for i want to be a corrections officer when im done with school can i ask you a few questions ?
1. is it hard to join (what i mean is to be a prison officer) and how long does it take ? to join?
2. Do you have to have a good education (Basic?)
3. do you work in max security prison?
4. do you get Batons?
5. do you get to take your gun into the prison?
thats all please answer as much as you can it would be great :) Thanks
1) Not usually. Most facilities are understaffed and are always hiring.
2) Most facilities accept people with a high school education.
3) No, I work in a county jail.
4) Not in my facility. Most do, though.
5) No. When I go to work I put it in a secure lock box.
Hope that helps!
thankyou :)
Private prisons are always understaffed. Try looking to get into that.
thankyou :)
I hope not man! I live in San Diego and they offered me pelican bay state prison, and 2 in susanville and I accepted both of them
Why do you carty your glick if you dont bring ot in
Did you have to get pepper sprayed during training for a correctional officer.
Damn where I work we don't get a stab vest, gun, or pepper spray. Only the lieutenant carry pepper spray.
Damn that sucks, hopefully your supervisors back you up a lot!
Do you ever carry impact weapons on you? If not are they frequently used in the event of an emergency or not at all used in your facility.
Yes we do. If riots or fights break out we use impacts and non lethals
Why do you carry a firearm and holster on your belt if you just put it in a locked box when you come to work? What's the point of it then?
I replied to a similar question below - we wear the firearms when we are transporting inmates or doing courtroom duty.
how are you guys trained in a speed/tactical reload..? because the standered 2 count, you would be loading your clips backwards...im not trying to be a know it all or just a jerk..im actually fairly curious on how you would reload..
Seth Sepulveda
If you had any fucking idea what your talking about you would have said mags not clips.
as a person who has worked in prisons and jails, where do you work that allows you to have a firearm?
Max Security?
I work in a maximum joint and the only people who carry a weapon are psv, gun tower, and transpo. No weapons actually go inside the facility other than none leathels like oc/cs gas and tazer. But I don't know how other states, government, or private prisons work. I only speak on behalf of my state
+B RAY Transports and hospital runs.
Where did you buy your duty belt and what brand is it. I need one
I have a question not related to this video. My question is. Do you receive any training before becoming a correctional office?
+Fares Taveras yes you will go through an academy. The length is dependent upon your state / county.
CorrectionsGear hey can you send me your pepper spray when you use it all up. Cool belt
Love the basket weave. I’m trying to switch to it piece by piece because it’s technically not allowed in our departed.
So if you do it slowly they might not notice? Like the frog in the boiling water.
unrelated to the belt but what armour do you wear ie mouth guard , stab vest uch and such
+Will Myersw Nothing. Just my duty belt.
CorrectionsGear oh really?
+Will Myersw Some facilities wear stab vests but mine didn't.
CorrectionsGear ah ok
hello man would you please help me I live in the Netherlands and work at the environmental police and would like to order the belt you wear in America and send it to after the Netherlands you have a site for me on the internet where I have the complete belt with can buy all the bags?
check out 5.11 tactical
Can't you have a pepper gas bigger than that?
I have more difficulty being a police officer but corrections is just as difficult but hey we're all partners! :)
Donald J Trump I wish all police officers thought that way some police officers look down upon correctional officer's I work at Missouri state corrections
@@followerofgms8294 Very intelligent statement.
@@followerofgms8294 You make absolutely no sense.
So you chose a holster used to defend your life because it has basket weave on it? Why wouldn't you choose the holster you are most comfortable with?
Its probably policy that all of his duty belt gear is matching.
What brand/ model is this duty belt
Don't see no baton holster
This Glock holster Is level 2 or level 3?
Wait you dont have taser, and baton?? What???
Nice but I think you got to much stuff in your belt. I just carry only what's necessary. God Bless thanks for the videos.
and 1 more thing how long does the academy go for is it long ?
Depends on the department. I believe most are 6 - 8 weeks long.
thankyou again :)))
Where can I purchase this belt?
hey im back with another question.
my question is do you get to pick your position when you become a prison officer i want to work in the Guard tower do you know anything about the guard tower (obviously you do hahaah) but i mean what it takes and what do you have to do to be a guard in a tower do you do different training or is it all the same and what do you get in the towers? if theres anything i missed about the towers can you also tell me some other things i may need to know about working in the tower as id like to know pretty much as much as i can about the guard tower.
thanks for reading :)
Keeps staff and inmates from getting used to a routine.
ok thankyou i thought you stayed in the one position but you change. thankyou for your help
theallybarber14 Some prisons and jails do. They do a "bid" system where officers with the highest seniority get to chose their posts. The newest officers with the least seniority get the least desired posts, shifts, and days off.
thankyou. very much
CorrectionsGear All of this depends on numerous things. What state you work in, how long you've worked there(seniority), and/or if you work in a state prison or county jail.
have you had to use the glock for work
what is your hand cuffs chain or hinged
+Dalton Rognon Chain. A few guys I know prefer hinged but I never cared for them.
how many belts do correctional officers wear?
How many belts? Usually an inner belt and outer belt with belt keepers.
Are you a NYC CO or somewhere else? And I'm assuming that's your off duty firearm
+law2037 I worked in New Mexico. That was my duty firearm. Carried it on my duty belt to and from work and if I was doing any transport or court duty.
Those COs use baton?
Wheres your batton or whatever its called
How much does it weigh when fully equipped?
35 LBS.
Not a good idea to have your keys dangling in front of your pants like that, you're just asking for it to be snatched.
No Taser?
You don't use gloves? So you want to possible get blood and bodily fluids on you?
+ZIPPER978 I wear 5.11 tactical gloves. See my review here: ua-cam.com/video/Hyv6EYntWn8/v-deo.html
Because my brother is a New York State corrections officer
+matthew mahoney does he smuggle cellphones into the prison
Get some locktite thread lock on that Chicago stew
Do corrections officers get nationwide concealed carry permits?
+John A Nope. Maybe in their respective state, but not federally.
