Cringe anime pfp but I don’t understand either
Everyone else today: should we recommend the new 500$ CPU from Intel or the 500$ CPU from AMD?
Dawid: recommends a GT 1030
Haha!! I thought the timing was on point. 😂

But also yes
Well yes but actually yes

Rodrigo Tassara I think he meant that he can’t afford it
The two quite frequently go hand in hand. Not always, but more often than not.
Some of this was so Ghetto that he’s at Linus level
Edit: I now build budget PCs as a job so I would recommend this as a build guide
Haha!! Is there any other way? 😂
Got any spare 2080😂
@CL8ØN well, he does wear socks and sandals so........
@cl80n nope, you'll have to drop that 1030 to do linus.

@DeAngelo just a little off
Thanks for reminding me that I'm even worse off than broke-ass lol

Love the video. I remember the days when you could get a GTX 1650 for $159. The memories... Good times, good times.

When he said "Mount the ssd in a ghetto fashion" he uses sticky tape, I look down and my ssd is just laying on the floor of my case with my ketchup and mustered cables.
SSD SATA is the only Drive where it can be treated as hard as possible. Just make sure the temperature never reach 40° Celsius.

I love 4th gen i-core processors + inexpensive graphics cards! They make great gaming systems. I've got an Optiplex 3020 with an i5 and 8gb RAM I'm going to turn into a gaming rig in almost this same way (probably go with a GTX 1650 tho).
They are really great. That sounds like a good idea. 😊
I have a third gen with a 1070, so far so good
Howd it go? I think im going to do the exact same thing
@@KaNawogirusa Third gen are perfect. I still have mine and I don't want to change =)

PCI slot cover. There you go 😉
Hahaha!! Now that has to happen
Almost 2 years later and that's probably still your best sub 200$ option for a budget gaming pc
Give me 3 years then I will be able to afford this
This is exactly what I did when started playing around custom PC builds :D
First I got a Fujitsu Esprimo e720, throw a i5-4570 at it, with a 1050 Ti and it worked!
After a whole year, I moved to more expensive builds - just completed one with a Ryzen 5 3600! :D
Some feedback: if you're testing lower end hardware and the framerate is below 60-ish,you should lower the resolution a bit to show at what resolution you could get the desired frame rate at.
He said in the title, 1080p, so it makes sense
@@vladimirs7456 Damn. Didn't notice that. My mistake.
1600x900 makes perfect balance for this kind of setups
Umm.. i actually prefer to play at 30FPS...... So..... Am i just, not experiencing the *Smoothness* of 60FPS?
Love the "what can we do with an old office PC" vid. Plus a throw to Brian at Tech Yes City. Two of my favorite tubers. Would really like to see a broke a$$ knife fight between you two on OEM's.
this is so funny I had the same pc lying around and did the exact same modifications without ever knowing about this video until now. Great video man!
I love the “Think” lines of PCs. I run a very much over upgraded Thinkstation C20 with a Quadro 5000 for editing/rendering video and as my daily driver for digital art.
I love how this video is down to earth (who isn’t broke and stupid) yet still utterly ridiculous 😂

Glad to hear the i5-4570 I'm still running is still "pretty fast for gaming."
Yeah just built my sister a budget build with one and a gtx 750ti windforce.
I've used a GT 1030 for a while before upgrading RX 570, and it honestly was pretty good for my SFF Optiplex. I was even able to do some overclocking on the Memory which made it run faster.
Great video...Keep it up love to watch them...Almost my exact setup. Got the PC for 95 bucks, with 8 gigs and added a SSD and a 1030...Great to see the benchmarks, had no idea.
Really cool video, adding the explanations and guide was awesome.
The gt1030 is a neat little card. I had one for a good long while and even installed a dodgy modified driver that tricked it into being able to output 1440p over dvi. Was great for playing league of legends and Csgo.
This video couldn't come at a better time haha, planning on getting a secondary PC :D

how did you watch a ten minute video in one minute
Thanks Ahmed. 👍
I love your Videos, they are so different to other Tech UA-camrs in comparison. Keep going on. :)
That is very nice of you to say. Thanks for the comment. 👍
Nice! I recently did an Optiplex build but this comes in a hair bit cheaper than what I did one for but for obvious reasons! Great video!
fun video man, always appreciate it
The beauty of pc gaming versatility. Epic video mate, althought a gtx 1050 can be had for cheap today, even the ti variant, and is considerable more powerful.
PS: That GT 10Tittie
I bought a used Zotac GTX 1050 Mini last week for way to much, because I wanted an economical little low power graphics card that I could put in my (probably) 9-year-old office PC. Together with my i5-3470, 8GB and a 1 TB SSD, it's really a great gaming experience. Even the 2 GB VRam is not that tragic.
This is great. I bought an older Dell that looks like this Lenovo awhile back for a little over 100 bucks, it has 8 gigs of ram and an 4 core, 4 thread I5, so I've been thinking of putting a dedicated graphics card in it but wasn't really sure how low profile works. I'm a total amateur, so I didn't even realize that you replace the bracket. So this helps a lot (if I could now get my hands on a decent low profile graphics card for less than the price of a trip to space).
I really enjoyed this video. Thank you!
Honestly something I've been waiting for you to do for quite a while, Dawid! Quick tip: If you can get a pci-e riser cable, there's normally enough space inside for a full-size GPU, although managing the IO is an issue.
I mean, we know he has a Dremel...
I was thinking of goibg to town on it with the Dremel. 😁
He should Sli the worst gpu’s you can sli
that sounds like a good video idea
Linus did it
Not all GT 1030 have SLI slot at the top. And some variant that do have it is more expensive than the one without SLI.
So far there are 3 Variants of GT 1030
GT 1030 GDDR3
GT 1030 GDDR5
GT 1030 GDDR5 with SLI slot
I was thinking for the entire video that the YES man was going to be mentioned. Glad to see I wasn't wrong :D.
Your take on transplanting this motherboard into a normal case and making it a 300-ish dollars gaming PC would be extremely interesting to watch IMO. Bryan has done a 360º build video a few weeks ago featuring one of these (or a very similar model), but I bet people would like to watch you go in depth (as the *professional* you are) on how to transplant that Lenovo motherboard + CPU into a "normal" budget case and adding a different normal sized GPU. Just don't forget to draw bewbs into it.
Great video!got a Dell optiplex and did most of these upgrades and its great for working at home and a small but if gaming!the SSD is a real came changer!!! definitely do that of you get one of these!
The solution is, as often, an IBM-developed piece of hardware.
2:13
not necessarily true, just cut a small hole in the side of the case for the bigger GPU's
There is still limitations for the GPU because of the motherboard. Good idea though XD
@@pastaqwerty1903 hah lol
Thank you! I knew there was a step I was missing.
I need more videos like this.
You could have dremmeled that case Dawid. Moar dremmel
Haha!! I may very well still get to that. 😁
Dawid keeps referring to it as “cheap” I’m thinking - my friend, this is like 4 months of saving for me
Thanks, now I feel less alone.
you need better income
This was the best videointro i have ever seen!!!
This is good stuff man! I have a small form factor HP Elite 8300 that I've outfitted with a 512GB SSD, 4TB HDD, 16GB of DDR3 RAM, an i7 3770, and a GTX 1050 Ti. It did cost more than $200, but it's a good machine none the less. I love the size of this machine for my home theater setup. It works well for mid-high 1080p gaming too!
Hey, I'm assuming you are from South Africa, I would like to know, is it better to import parts and pay taxes and duties or to buy directly from a south african store?
Hey, I lived in Cape Town for about 4 years and I found the best way was using local stores. Shipping from outside the country is a disaster and places like Wootware don't have terrible prices

Hey the last time I was this early nobody would spam “fIrST”
But theyre still spamming "last time i was this early" comments.
I needed this, I use to play on a poopy laptop from 2018 that could barley play any source engine based games.
I have a pretty high end setup already but I love watching videos like these
me to, I have a somewhat of a high end and a very low end pc I like to mess around on total of $150 with mouse keyboard
I did this exact thing for my 6 year old a couple of years back with that exact graphics card.. the 1030 (gddr5 - obvs) can pull off respectable frame rates for the games he plays such as Minecraft - we even have Forza Horizon 4 running at 30-40fps (everything on low). He loves it and it is perfect for his wants currently. The limitation with these systems is the power supply - his came with a 180w, which is just not enough to run everything and a gtx1650, hence why the 1030 was selected.
This was entertaining to watch
I have a Lenovo Edge72, it came in this exactly same SFF Case, it works well, paired it with a Xeon 1220V2, and an RX570.
My first PC build was an old HP with an AMD phenom 2 x6 and a 1030 and I dealt with that for a while and then once the market recovered, I got a Ryzen 7 5800x and a GTX 1080 ti both for below MSRP. Very lucky haha.
I just found you 3 days ago and frankly, you're hillarious.
Thank you for the nice comment. I hope you have a good weekend. 👍
I built a Lenovo m57 about 8 years ago to run emulators and installed a Blu-ray optical drive. I used 1030 passive cooled.... I still use it to this day. It is my entertainment system in my living room. I have it running on my 70 inch TV. Everyone that comes over here a kick out of it. These old Lenovo PCs are work horses.
I got an old t5550 workstation at the beginning of covid for a dollar through a school surplus, and 1 hard drive, 8 gigs of ecc ram, and a Radeon gpu later, and it's an absolute tank. I plan of upgrading to dual Xeon x5690 CPUs.
I've got about half a dozen old office PCs doing various tasks around my house, they're usually cheap (or even free). If you're on a tight budget and want to use one as a base for a cheap gaming PC it's definitely an option. And, as Dawid shows they're often really easy to work on. You should check the PSU on board and Google what the wattage is for the cheap GPU you're using and make sure you're not over budget, office PCs tend to use really low wattage ones.
The curse of Rameses. Officially the best reference I've ever come across. Serious nostalgia trip.
The man in gauze, the man in gauze!
I managed to get something like this for my son! Old lenovo with i7 4790K and 16GB of DDR3, I slapped in another 16GB ram, added an SSD for boot and a 1050 GPU (this was 3yrs ago!) and it cost 100EUR for the base system and STILL runs like a dream!
32 gb is honestly a tad overkill but better too much than too little!
This dude just cracks me up when he gets excited to upgrade an OEM pc.
at 8.12 you can see davids testing setup and i realised that hes using a roccat soura fx rgb which is the keyboard that im typing this on. very cool
I did this a few months ago but I went max spec. I grabbed a 4th gen bare bones optiplex with No CPU, 8GB Ram, and HDD w/OS for $10! Then I grabbed a 1271v3 4core 8thread xeon for $55, a GTX 1650 Low profile for around $160, and I had a 400GB SSD and a 2TB hybrid mechanical 2.5" drive on hand. This little SFF optiplex is insane. I use it to play old console and PC games with BigBox/ Launchbox.
My gaming rig (including peripherals) is around 2500 dollars, but I'm still fascinated by these cheapo rigs. Infact, I put together a ~120fps CS:GO rig for my friend just from parts I salvaged from the recycling bin at work (I work at an electronics retailer)
#i love the way you driving your show dude, having some fun and and big laugh when you moking all the bad stuff,
Nice when you click on the like counter and it adds 0.1! My vote must be worth 100! I like. Dawid, so true you start with a cheap PC and learn how to configure. I started with a R5 2200g a year ago, added a GTX1050ti. Over the course of the year it has morphed into a system with 2nd hand R5 2600, Vega 56, an extra 8gb, new tempered glass sided case and an AIO modified with clear tubing and reservoir.
I went this route when I found an old but nice M92p in a dumpster at work. Then i found a cheap i7-3770 on eBay, added a GTX 750 ti, a very nice DDR3 16 GB Corsair RAM kit that I found on clearance, harvested an old PCI wifi card from an old PC I had sitting around, an SSD for Windows 10, another SSD for Window XP retro gaming, and an old Creative X-Fi sound card for EAX on said retro gaming XP installation. It is not a cheap PC anymore, but I actually like it better than my regular i9-9900K gaming rig.
I had a gigabyte low profile 750ti on my old optiplex 7010 sff, worked a treat.
I have an HP version of this computer with the exact same specs, except I put a GTX 1650 in it. It’s a perfect 1080p gaming PC 👍

This guy is hilarious, I love the energy and accent.
Dawid has very specific tastes in games that seem to leave great big sections of the market entirely untouched, he does remember other things exist occasionally, but not that often.
that benchmark music is legendary
I like how the title is something that is so insulting to me but also something i totally agree with
I recently did an all used parts build. Ryzen 2200G on a 320m mobo. 256G NVME boot drive and a ssd storage drive and 8G of 3k memory. Kids are more than happy with the gaming performance. It's no power house but has run everything I've thrown at it ok. Only in it for a little over $200.
spending quarantine without a PC sucks so much, especially when you were building one and only needed a few more parts then corona happened
Tfw when you've been pretty much using this type of build for the past 2 years and can now finally afford to upgrade. Just got my professor yesterday boi's. This build isn't the most powerful but I've had a pretty decent gaming experience with it.
love the title
Thank you. 😃
Okay, what is that SSD plugged into? I want one of those! What is it?! Lol, Thank you for your amazing and funny videos.
It wasn't until I finally switched some parts out and done constant maintenance on my older computers I felt ready to tackle my own build.
Now I have an actual computer. The 1030 from a refurbed prebuild I got was a great stand in to get games installed, the computer setup with most drivers and settings etc, and then my mid range GPU came a few weeks later after I knife battled for it. Wouldn't change a thing... Besides the monitor.
Cracking video, cracking humor.
