And I'm here with a Lenovo Legion Tower too... But from Best Buy. So far though it isn't bad for such a system tho the Cpu cooling isn't great and the mb firmware is an oof and there's single channel ram and the PSU is a mixed bag (400 W wtf, but it's a 80+ Gold) but the case is very nice and filled to the brim with airflow, lighting is nice for the showiness, the motherboard doesn't look like shit, there's tempered glass, yeah the case is good lol. The GPU currently doesn't look bad too, and the Cpu cooler, at least is pretty quiet for such a cooler, it's so much less noisier than the jet engine of my now not mine laptop. Or many prebuilts.
Comparing to this computer in the video, it has its issues indeed, but the motherboard seems to be a standard ATX motherboard and everything else about it... is the same. It may be crud but it is one of the most upgradable OEM PCs, which is rare. Just like dual channel ram ugh. And the case, once again, isn't bad, it's got also areas to stuff cables too, so you can use non modular PSUs in the future without pain.
So that's my mini first impression "review," now I need to see if Linux and games run well on it.

Honestly the 75hz freesync monitor made so much sense because I felt like youd be around 80fps in most demanding games with those specs. Honestly im impressed by this budget build, Its not bad.

12GB of RAM is always BS in my book. Yes you loose some performance vs true dual ch (it's technically in flex mode with 8GB and 4GB sticks) but that's minor and the thing is really what's the cost difference between a 4GB stick and an 8GB stick for a company like HP? 10 bucks? Maybe 15 bucks? Just put 16GB in it!

Hello, this is in reference to the non-vesa monitor. Something I recently learned is there are mounting adaptors available for non-vesa monitors. It's not the most ideal solution, but if you bought a non-vesa monitor it's a great solution for being able to mount it. Just search non-vesa mount adaptor and you'll get a few. For my use case, it was hugely worth it.

Built a gaming PC out of a HP desktop and apart from it pitching a fit about not being able to detect the USB (they were plugged in but not the original ones) it works like a dream and the heatsink is indeed excellent, nice weight and great performance!
Dawid has quickly become one of my favorite "techtubers" whenever I see a new video I click right away.

I bought an Ibuypower prebuilt from Costco it has an i7 10700F, RTX 2060, 16 GB, 500GB SSD, 2 terabyte HDD. I got the pc for 1,265 USD. I am surprised it still runs with no problems after a few months and I am also surprised at how the price couldn't have been any lower for a prebuilt like this.

I bought a gaming laptop from Costco and was pleasantly surprised. There is also def something to be said for Costco's customer service. Buying from them gave me an extra year of warranty which came in handy when at almost exactly a year the keyboard on my laptop stopped working. Laptop got fixed and sent back to me, only to have the keyboard stop working again almost a week later. Took it back to them and they ended up swapping out the laptop for a new one. Still have that particular laptop and it's still going strong 4 years later.
You can't have dual channel with 8GB+4GB, because both memory sticks need to be of the same size. Sometimes speed (frequency) and latency (timings) need to be the same for dual channel to work properly.

I know for HP monitors you can get an adaptor for Vesa mounting! It cost me around $15 for the adaptor and then $25 for the mount itself

@@gernblanston4956 Some Intel boards now support "Flex Mode" where the amount of memory in the smaller DIMM will run in dual channel with the first X gigabytes from the second stick. Then the remaining RAM will run in single channel. So in this HP's case, 4+4 GB in dual channel, and the last 4 in single. Definitely not ideal, but better than nothing.

I got my prebuilt from Costco (where I work) it originally went for 900 dollars but it was on sale for 700 dollars. It can run BeamNG at 144 FPS. It has 4 ram slots and the only problem was the lack of storage, but it had an extra hard drive slot. Definitely great for 700 dollars

12GB of ram isn't actually dual channel since the DIMM sizes are miss-matched. IIRC this is an intel specific feature called FLEX mode, which basically means that your ram will run in dual channel mode up until 8GB (2*4GB), any ram address allocation after will be done in single channel. YMMV though

I picked up this exact system as a secondary office PC. Upgraded the RAM to faster 16 gig dual channel, put in a 2TB HDD and a 2nd 500 gig ssd (came with the 500 gig stock). I'm very happy with it I have to say. Plays anything on max settings in 1080p
Also, the stock mouse/kb is indeed junk. Picked up a deathadder essential and a red dragon keyboard for $60.
That system has a 8+4GB memory config which utilizes a technology called Intel Flex Memory Access. The first 8GB of that 12GB runs in dual channel, but anything past 8GB ram usage will run in single channel. This can possibly explain some of the bigger frame dips in more demanding titles.

I had something similar back in 2017 and it also had duel channel 😱 HP isn’t too bad when it comes to budget prebuilts tbh, enjoyed that bad boy for like a year with an upgrade to 12gb of ram
I actually saw one of these in Wal-Mart. It intrigued me as I'm in the market for a PC and the last PC I built was in 2010 and I haven't kept up on anything really. Still debating wether I should build my own or buy a prebuilt (and this HP doesn't seem bad).
With my current knowledge I should probably just buy the prebuilt but I know at some point I'm going to want to add to it (most likely aftermarket cooling). A huge drawback is no CD/DVD Rom, I still have tons of disc filled with music in FLAC and other data.

Also somehow your videos started getting recommended to me when I had started thinking about maybe just buying a prebuilt. What does the algorithm know ? How does it do It ? Well anyways guess I'll finally subscribe now.
Edit : I also already have a monitor just like the HP one. Same size, does 75hz, A tiny bit different looking but the same I/O and the same problems as mine is on a stack of books. Using the PC underneath is a great idea and will probably be what I do when I get one.

Exact same box design that came with my gaming laptop that was $600 I got almost 2 months ago..for 1080p gaming it’s pretty great...and I just use hdmi out for big screen gaming...Mine has 16 gb dual channel and 2 ssd drives one nvme (stock) and a standard ssd I added. Coming from a dad who games on switch...this is great.

Well, if it's 12gb, then only 4+4gb is using dual channel, the remaining 4gb is single channel. This is how flex mode works

@@TheJAADF yep cause 4+4 dual channel PLUS 4 gig single channel has no apparent advantage over 8 gig dual channel which is a waste really and the 8+4 setup’s 8 gig dual channel is actually slower than regular 8 gig dual channel due to more processing... so yeah it’s not a dual channel

I actually bought that prebuilt PC awhile ago, but with the Ryzen 5 3500, 8GB of ram, and 250GB of storage. I salvaged some of the parts and put it into my first actual PC, and have no problems other than the GPU getting rather hot.

Considering the price of graphics cards these days, this is a reasonable entry point for PC gaming. You can save up to upgrade the peripherals overtime.

Just buy an Xbox, you can get one straight from M$ pretty easy and it will only set you back $500, and you can still get that nice mouse and keyboard and plug straight into xbox, will work fine for Warzone. Xim sells a $50 model now that is really nice, I'd go that route before buying this dumpster fire build with no air flow and that trash power supply, you can burn up in your house with that bullshit.I'm good I'll spend the extra $10. Just buy the console, and save for a nice ATX build. Trust me, you will regret this herpes taint build from hell almost as soon as UPS drops it off on your stoop Ace Ventura style.
nothing in it is upgradeable except the ssd and ram, this is literal e-waste and you could build a gaming pc at the same price if not a little higher, no point in buying this piece of shit

Even my old HP desktop I bought at walmart 8 years ago had dual channel memory, kudos to hp 👍
i had a old Dell work station, that had a broken case, missing shroud/fan tunnle, so i did the next best thing, Looooooong screws/ and a few 80mm fans, fitted like a charm {i did use a fan grill for protection}. it cools the PC perfectly.
it is a bit loud but at 50% power to the fans, it cools it around 50C even at full load
I have a pretty much the same PC, just with an i3-10100 and only 8gbs of ram and for 599, I’m mainly a console gamer and this does more than enough, the only game I really play is TF2 and this pc handles it great even at 4K
If you want to turn the green front panel light off or adjust the speed or pattern of the lights "pulse", download "Omen command center / Omen gaming hub".
It may already be installed on your PC, but from comments I've read it's not installed on all the gaming PCs with green lights.

If you check ebay you could find 3d printed adapters for that hp connector to a vesa bracket. I have 2 hp monitors just like that one and they are now vesa mounted.

I bought almost that exact model then rebuilt it when the mobo started having issues. Honestly pretty decent intro setup. Got me into PC gaming and customization
To my surprise, my Omen laptop came with dual-channel. I still swapped it with better sticks, but I was pleasantly surprised.
HP is really good about spending the extra few bucks to ship out dual channel in their PCs.
I've had my HP Omen since 2018 and was pretty impressed with how well it was put together as a whole. I bought the cheapest I could find on sale with the intention of upgrading parts anyway. Over the years I've added more RAM, storage, GPU and recently a PSU (didn't need but was troubleshooting what turned out to be a bad sata drive I had instsalled). It will be a sad day when I finally have to replace it as it's just never let me down and all the horror stories of other prebuilds or custom builds failing makes me hesitant to buy new. At least HP seems to be still selling "decent" PC's (though, omg the prices now are nuts!)

I used to be more negative on pre-builts, but after troubleshooting my most recent build (first it was not booting after I assembled everything, I had to update the bios. Then I had to manually set the RAM voltage and the IMC to Gear 1. Finally I had to update the bios again due to the SSD randomly freezing), I realize that if there's any issues an average PC user probably wouldn't be able to troubleshoot it. So a pre-built gives them an option that works right out of the box.
Counter, I have built 5 PC for myself and family over the last decade, still no issues. However had problems with 2 prebuilts during the same timeframe.
I know youre in canada but costco uk has about 20 different gaming oriented systems available online ranging from £350-£2250 with a few systems coming with 3000 series cards
I think they put in the dual channel RAM just for you
this pc is almost an exact replica of lenovos ideacentre g5 even down to the psu wattage

@@ginyu4665 i prefer the lenovo g5 as a buy since its not sold with bs peripherals used to markup the price but the pc is solid for 1080p getting around 100+ frames on r6 on high.
Started out with an HP prebuilt when I got back into gaming. Only proprietary part was the motherboard. Later upgraded that, RAM, and GPU and have a very good system. HP's cooler on ths 1660 Super is very good as well.
My first computer was a 1995 Packard Bell from Costco. Still have the setup discs

I got a great deal on a Lenovo Legion at Costco two years ago. Great gaming laptop, very happy with it. It still runs like a champ.
I bought a similar tower to the one in that bundle - $400 Freedom chits and got a Ryzen 5 5600, 500gb m.2, 1tb hdd, and GTX 1650 Super. Sold the 1650 for $400 while the tower was still being shipped, and slapped my MSI 1080 in there after some gratuitous hacksaw action. Why not, it was free!
