After so many rewatch of this show, I never paid attention to the fact he doesn’t move his left arm during the entire orientation video and it’s because he injured his hand at the Swan site during the incident
Having been in the fandom back when S2 was first airing, I vaguely recall people talking about this hand even back then, so it was cool to see the event connected to it when it finally happened in S5.
I understand for story purposes why the film was made, but from a real life perspective, the Dharma initiatives idea of utopian society was people were assigned a station and told nothing about it other than to watch the orientation film for further instructions. Imagine going blind to a place where the only instructions to perform a job was on a very vague set of instructions from a short film.
I need to watch this again.
