I was almost lost for that period, but it hit home *real good* when they prematurely ended the series with a doctored up 6th season to a story that was supposed to continue. I was lost at that point. Before that I was keeping up IIRC. At least that was my feeling. They quit due to cost and a yearning for getting back to the Hollywood life... I dunno.
@@eze7295 The start of the series and the first 2-3 seasons were great, but then it got worse, it had a lot of plot holes and things were weird, in my opinion. The last seasons was nearly garbage and the ending very confusing and gave no answers. It could've been way better if the last seasons were different.
It also started and ended with him in the same area walking past the white shoe hanging in that tree. A clean shoe in the first episode and a dirty one in the last. Which i believe were Christian Shepard's shoes he was wearing.
This show is a masterpiece on so many different levels. The images, the characters, the stories, even going into myths and legends, time travel and overwhelming spirituality. Not even to mention the Amazing location and the perfection of the soundtrack. Everytime I focus on one character during each rewatch. I get something new every time. I've even done several psychology papers on it.
@@UneCleUSB There was a writer's strike during season 4, hence the shorter season. That being said, season 4 still had my favorite Lost Episode: The Constant. Absolute brilliance from start to finish.
That scene when Desmond is on the boat, talking to Penny through the phone, and they're just speaking over each other saying how much they love each other and will keep looking... Beautiful. Heart-wrenching. You're right, maybe one of the best love stories ever.
Yeah, it was beautiful how she got engaged to someone else, and we never got any insight into her personal life or why she even cares about Desmond. Let's face it, her character was a one-note trophy. An object of affection for Desmond to chase. We saw his POV, not hers. It wasn't a love story.
His was without a doubt my favourite storyline. All of his centred episodes were so moving, don't even get me started on The constant - best episode in the whole series!!
i wish i could wipe my memory & watch this show all over again. one of the greatest shows ive ever watched whether u think the ending was bad or not, i couldnt wait to watch each episode to see what would happen next. i was on the edge of my seat almost the whole show & i miss it 😓
I first watched the series years ago. Rewatched it recently and I was pleasantly surprised at how much I forgot. This is the best show ever made. It’s brilliance on full display.
After watching the final episode and the short clips that were released after Lost ended, I went back and watched the whole show again with the realization that Hurley was the one. It totally changed the show - it was (almost) like watching it for the first time.
i wouldnt call it masterfull. i just finished it first time ever watched. i always avoided it assuming it was going to be either a series long tom hanks on island show. or survival drama reality bs or some mix. that said it was shockingly good show. i personally didnt understand the confusion with the ending. they explained it all really well. with the 2nd to last episode. then the 2 hour finalle. but i also know most people are not very inteligent. and are very ridgid never wanting to think outside the box. that said to stay on point. they did do good with all the side quest stories to keep them tied to the island in someway. even if we didnt know it at the time.
@@NotHappening-b8tI don't think it has anything to do with not being intelligent enough to understand the ending. I think it is more about wanting a more detailed explanation than what the show gives.
I think they have diferent qualities of terrible. The Lost Creators actually hurt us a lot, because we where hoping for some, or ONE... well , consistent asnwer to all the secrets. GoT was just a cheap sell out, telling mus much more about D & D, two privileged Kids at the right time and place, with the right amount of money. Or to point it out like that : Lost tried, and failed. D & D treid kind of, did not have the talent, and then stopped caring. U feel the difference when wathcing. Lets be jsut happy , its both over, and never truist the makers of Lost, o D & D again. i am kind of happy, that D & D went to star wars, because the shitpile on that franhcise is like overcomplete now :-)
Lost wasn’t terrible it was just too ambiguous. Game of Thrones was too rushed. They tried to tie up all of the plot points in less episodes than originally anticipated. My vote for worst would be Dexter. Nonsensical garbage.
@@AdvertisingWorldpeace I think you should reconsider trusting at least Damon Lindloff from Lost again even though Lost kinda failed. He created one of the all time best shows "the Leftovers" and you can also hear positive things about the new watchmen. The Problem with Lost was in many ways the network. They had a hit show and basically made the showrunners go on forever with plenty of episodes untill the showrunners realized that their show is getting worse and then they decided to end it after another 3 seasons which is a compromise as well and went on as before. Also JJ Abrams fault who just starts shit like Lost, star wars or star trek without knowing where to go with it and then wants to abandon ship. Money and lack of dedication is nowadays the most common cause for bad storytelling. D&D wanted that sweet star wars and netflix money even though hbo was dedicated to more seasons and abc wrecked Lost for greed and JJ is just a bitch for anything that promises commercial success.
Maybe that was their plan all along! They waited 5 years, then they spent 10 more years creating a brilliant and great TV show to get everyone's attention - then they botched the ending on purpose to make people like the Lost finale a little more xD
The ending always made sense to me, it was just everyone meeting up in the afterlife after their respective deaths (which happened at different times in the world of the living). What was confusing was how some people ended up thinking they were dead the whole time...
Correct. He called her a pawn right before she was killed, because he was too full of himself. And in the afterlife she had yet to remember and recognize him. He was still looking for redemption.
I just finished watching LOST and I don't know what to do with my self, I got so attached and devoted to the show now I feel sad 😢 it's over. One of the best shows I've ever seen
got a pro tip for you! leave it be for around 6 months. watch it again. some parts are dragging but you'll get SO much more details you've missed the first time. some plots that really make sense if you watch it the second time. i've decided like a year later that i need to watch it again. i've missed sawyer, hugo and charlie. and i dove in again and i was amazed how many things came to me in a totally different perspective. you're not done with lost. you're just taking a break

why Jack said "see you in another life brother" that was so moving .....it all made sense in the end.....what a great series it was man truly one of a kind
@@three7446 No, it was said a few times between them throughout the show but Jack said it to Desmond on the last episode. Just before he brings the light back
Tom-Son DBS what do YOU think is going on?? I’ve seen videos from analyst and the writers themselves explain the ending and the show but I don’t agree with them,, to me Lost was like a piece of art.. what does the show tell you, make you feel?
I still remember watching season 1, when the pilot gets killed by the not-shown-then smoke monster, and I believed, kinda hoped, it to be a dinosaur. xD
I remember, when Rose commented that some of the monster's noises seemed familiar to her and I had no clue. I'm not from NY so I couldn't understand her reference. Years later on a completely different show or movie I hear noises that immediately remind me of the monster. Stuff like the register in a cab in New York City or something.
Ending left me depressed at the thought of how sad it was. They all eventually die in their own way.... memorable line was kate saying to jack, "ive missed you so much"
I was so confused when I saw that but then I realised.if she got off the plane after Jack died, she could have lived a full life and grown old. That's why she missed him.
@@H.Brittain11That's what I thought too. That there were some survivors who got to leave the island and live full lives and some stayed on the island and lived full lives.
Coming up on 20 years since its debut. I said it back then and I’ll say it now - best written characters of any tv drama I’ve ever watched. The storytelling may be flawed, I will agree. But the cast and characters are perfect.
@@NotHappening-b8t Series creators J.J. Abrams and Damon Lindelof have admitted in interviews that the ending was not solidified prior to the start of production. The writing staff wasn’t entirely sure how many seasons the series would last, in fact. Seasons 5 and 6, most fans would agree, are the weakest. I think ABC should have planned for 4 seasons right from the start. 4 tight, well written, action packed, seasons. No filler episodes. And definitely no “side flashes/alternate universe” episodes.
OMG I just finished LOST a few minutes ago and now I am sad that I will never say it again. But I can absolutely relate with you. I thought I would be the only one lol
Had the biggest Crush on Illana... Then I saw her in the ROME Series... And I understood Why. But back to LOST... Her and Her team were meant to be Jacob's Bodyguards, or that of the Candidates? But spend a week on Hydra Island wasting time, not doing anything? Like they'd never been on the Island or knew where to go or what to do? All up until Jacob Dies? REALLY D&D?
The biggest mystery is how Elouise Widmore is everywhere at once... how is she in the real world and the after life and be so aware and in control of past present and future? She's literally a God figure in all of this. She was like the Anti-Jacob.
The thing is people who watched it only once get "Lost" throughout the end. But I watched it 3 times and every time it seems more coherent. The sixth season is actually real good and this will be forever my fav show. For others... Well you give them a hand, they want a arm. People are never really satisfied.
People followed this show for years and were really into the story and the show always tried to explain the islands mystery’s and the final scene was a bright light in a church with all the dead characters and people who haven’t even died yet imagine any other show ending like that people say game of thrones has a awful ending but imagine it ending with all the dead and alive characters bundled up in a church and a bright light fills the room story over it’s an awful way to end a show
Jeff Minn yes I’m aware but I put “characters who haven’t even died yet” because we never even get to see the end of the story like how they die at the very least
My uncle died just before the finale aired. Seeing the finale and understanding that we could all see each other again in an afterlife helped me get through that time.
It was a tear fest for sure! I just finished it today some minutes ago lol What a show! 🔥🔥 The last season, last episode brings out so many emotions! It was good to see almost all of them though for one last time! Such a intricate & beautifully made show! 👏👏👏 My absolute favorite #Lost
1. They weren’t dead the whole time 2. The flash-sideway was the bridge between their death and heaven. They had to amend/deal with their regrets/struggles. Jack had to be a father so that he could experience what his father went through and finally forgive him. Sayid helped Nadia’s husband because he blamed himself for her death in real life. Ben helped Alex with her Yale application because he blamed himself for her death. After they dealt their complexes, finally they arrived at the church 3. Even though they died in different times, they all met at the heaven as if they just died. There was no waiting in heaven. When Kate said to Jack at the concert, “I missed you so much”..she meant that she lived a lonely life after his death. 4. The bomb didn’t work. Ben wasn’t on that plane. Still he was a part of the flash sideways. So the “plane didn’t crash because the bomb go off” theory isn’t correct. 5. Richard’s curse was over. He wasn’t immortal. His hair turned grey. 6. Ben couldn’t let go off the guilt/regret of Alex’s death. That’s why he didn’t enter the church. Also there’s a chance Ben tried to betray Hurley after he replaced Jack. When Hurley said, “Ben, you were a great number 2”, I felt like Hugo was trying to forgive Ben for something 7. Dr chang was the host of the Dharma initiative videos. He was the also host of the charity concert. Maybe he found redemption too 8. Jacob’s death was little undercooked. The only way someone could kill him if the person stabbed him before he could speak. But before dying, Jacob had a full conversation with Ben.
This is great, I only believe Jacob´s mortality was due to the fact that he couldn´t be killed by his brother as their mother stated. he could only by killed by someone else, that's why ben could regardless of their conversation.
@@mr.aleximeraaron would die eventually, and as christian said, the only reason those who ended up in the church were there was because it was the people for whom their time on the island was the most significant/important part of their life. i suppose that was the case for aaron.
May 23, 2010 - Lost ended exactly 10 years ago today. It still remains the greatest TV show ever made. For me, it's more than just a TV show; the emotions I experienced while watching Lost can never be replicated by any other show. :)

I was already an adult, but I definitely havent felt that sense of engagement with any tv show since it ended. I would plan my work schedule to have lost night off every week lol In a large way, I blame Lost for that lol ..the ending really let me down. O look it was all just God teaching stuff. Seemed like an intellectually lazy way to wrap up and to be a betrayal to the relationship the viewers had with the characters. I just can't seem to let a show carry me away anymore, I'm too focused on how it will all end up to really care what's happening in any individual episode.

The ending where they all meet at the same time and place makes sense. Time only exists on earth, not in eternity. The time we spend here on earth will seem as just a flash when we look upon it with the perspective of eternal beings. That's why when we meet friends and relatives and ancestors again in the afterlife, despite having all passed on at different times, it will be almost as though we had never been separated. We can then move on into eternity, with this lifetime having been just one of infinite opportunities to have learned through our short experience here. Namaste.
Doesn't make sense actually if we are meant believe Kate, Sawyer, Clair and Aaron all lived long lives after the events on the Island. Why are they still young, why is Aaron still a baby, didn't he grow up and become his own person?. Also why would they meet up with the Islanders in the afterlife if they moved on with their lives and had families and made new friends why pass to the other side with the islanders?.
I finished watching LOST about half an hour ago 😞😞😞 best show I’ve ever seen I wa so moved and devoted to it I can’t believe it’s over. It’s a part of my lice
This show is so incredible. The ending is beautiful. I literally just finished watching it finally after all these years. I had heard bad things about how it ended and was bracing myself for the worst but it was truly an amazing end to an amazing show.
Same. I just now watched all of it and I was worried as well. I was pleasantly surprised at how well they wrapped it all up. I assumed the show would end without any explanation, but they did a pretty great job at wrapping it all up. Not sure why there was so much hate for the latter couple of seasons on the show. I felt all of it was necessary.
I did not have any problems with the show. I didn't love the end, but after thinking about it, I came to the conclusions shared in this video. This video was not a revelation to me.
I cried so many times. But when Charlie died, that was where I cried the most. I cried when Libby died, but not because Libby died: Because Hugo was so heart broken. and when Jin and Sun died. But not Jack. The ending was satisfying for me, no matter how many people disagree.
I'm still trying to wrap my head around the fact that no one cares to let us know what the heck the man in black's name is! Maybe I'm just trying to divert myself from crying but c'mon who else wants to know?
Currently rewatching this because my anxiety needed calming relief and I’m taking everything in with so much meaning. Genius work, and it’s so beautiful to analyze these relationships and development in all of these characters.

This is your favorite? Good God please watch some real fucking shows. None of this show made sense because the writers literally changed shit as they went.
@@richardwalker6004 you feel sorry that someone got enjoyment out of the ending of a show? I feel sorry for all the people who didn't enjoy the end. I personally loved the show and the last episode was a great finale in my opinion. Feel sorry if you want. I don't.
@@ChampaBayBeast name ONE show where the writers didn't change their plans. They foreshadowed ALOT of the end. 4th episode in season 1. Locke telling walt about backgammon. Jacob and MIB there. It didn't make sense to you, that's fine. Me and millions of others loved it.
@@ChampaBayBeast The idea that they changed things as they went is incorrect. The began planning the endgame during season 3, which is why Kate and Sawyer were building the runway for Ajira 815 in season 5. The endgame was officially being solidified between seasons 3 and 4 and why they announced there would be 3 more seasons at reduced episode counts. The only real changes they made were reducing season 4 due to the WGA strike. Basically they were building to the end for 60-70% of the show, which is more than you can say for most shows who literally make it up as they go and then find a way to end it...if they even get that far. Most people who say this just have crappy memories and forget that things in the show are set up sometimes seasons ahead. Or they simply have trouble piecing together a large story with tons of little things to remember. Sure there were ideas and things introduced early in the show like Walt's abilities that didn't come to fruition, but that's extremely common in TV and Book Series. If you think shows sit down and map out 6 seasons right of the bat, you don't understand how writing works. Ideas change or become less tenable over time. The first 6 episodes of The Walking Dead show zombies holding objects and manipulating a door knob, things zombies don't do for the rest of the series and are now incongruent. Creative changes happen.
@@davem5276 John was too insecure in who he was and what he truly believed. He was easily conned and manipulated he would have made a terrible guardian of the island. He did things for himself and not the island. He was not pure of spirit if that makes sense. Everything was about his past.
I remember being extremely confused at why people thought they were all dead. The ending was beautiful, I had to take a loooong walk and cried my eyes out. That's just great TV.
Right? I just watched the show for the first time, a bit late I know, and I'm impressed on how people misunderstood the ending. Actually, it wasn't a bad ending at all considering writers were on a strike at that moment, neither was a uncomprehensible one.
such a tough choice for me! neck and neck with the likes of BSG, 24, etc. AS far as regular network TV, by FAR the finest offering from regular networks! (ABC,NBC,CBS).. I'm an atheist/skeptic, but I had some 'mystical shit' happen with this show with the family I watched it , er, with...
Lost was my first binge watch ever! My college roommate had the first 4 seasons on DVD 📀 and I had just broken my arm, so I said why not. Never planned to sit there for like 7-8 straight episodes but I was hooked, the show felt like one long movie! At the time I never knew network TV could be this good. Soon after I ended up binging on The Wire, The Sopranos, and Breaking Bad 👍
The REAL truth is that, by Season Six, they had painted themselves into so many corners and had run out of time to explain everything. For example, the ancient symbols from the Middle East, the portal with the ship wheel that led to the middle if the desert, the whole Atom bomb going off thing, the ghostly cabin in the woods that kept shifting, etc, etc. They decided to just say F' it.....we'll just do the purgatory thing and call it a day.
Bryan Evans need more upvotes. Real reason why we hate lost. There is nothing hard to understand about the ending itself but the issue is just as you said.
For some reasons, I didn't feel disappointed by the final, it sounded ok to me. But yeah, I agree that they just decided to go for the easy thing and call it a day. Otherwise the show could have lasted forever, they way they had set it up. I still love it, though,
I believe lost was only meant to have 2 seasons but they felt like they had to carry on due to its success so I think even afyer season 2 they were just making shit up as they went along.
@@InvaderTan1 it was literally suppose to have 6 seasons. They had beginning and end. Once again. Writers strike screwed up a lot of stuff. But good job.
Ask your questions? I love the series and feel everything was answered. The ‘sideways’ flashes are purgatory. Everything on the island really happened. The characters that reunited in the church scene at the end all died at different times - not in the crash.
I just finished watching it and imo, it's the best ending this show could've gotten. I absolutely adored the ending, by far my favorite of all time. Yeah, the writing throughout this season was a bit off, a bit too on the nose, I get that but the direction they went with, was satisfying and heartbreaking at the same time.
Can you explain the ending? Did they all die or they'll just continue with their lives in "parallel world" with the person they loved while being on the island?
@@filipzdelar7125 All of the stuff on the island actually happened. They weren’t dead the whole time. Christian Shepherd explains it in the finale inside the church. The personal connections that they all made on the island were so significant that when they all eventually died at different times and in different places, they were reunited in the afterlife, which was what was happening in the entirety of season 6 while they were off island. They all had to “wake up” and realize where they were. I was satisfied by the ending, though some people weren’t. It was inevitable that not everyone would like it because expectations were too high. I appreciated the journey as much or more than the destination. It’s still my favorite TV show ever.
This makes me realize how much I miss this show. I was never confused as to what happened at the end of the last season, I was disappointed because during the entirety of the last season, I feel like I was led to believe the flashes were showing us what the characters' lives would have been if the plane crash had never taken place, and I loved the idea of them randomly attaining memories of this life they had never lived on the island but in the last episode it just went in a completely different direction. I feel like it was so close to sticking that landing but just barely missed it. Thankfully Fringe did a much better job at closing their story out and it's one of my favorite tv shows. I definitely won't let the last episode of Lost to tarnish the amazing show it was because it is still one of a kind.
Nick DiBartolomeo I was honestly hoping that was the case. It’s a good ending in its own way, but it would’ve been cool if the sideways story with gaining the memory back was the way it went. It would be kinda hard to explain why it was happening though
@Nick DiBartolomeo If it ended like that, you'd be whining and bitching on how the island was just a dream and nothing ever happened so they landed in LAX and the island was just a "could be" dreamy place. Which would be way more dissatisfying for me. Loved it the first time. Everytime I rewatch the show, it just seems more and more rich, even the ending. So... What they did in the final season was brilliant, up until the next 10 min you still was believing everything would be "as if it never happened" and then BOOM, complete turn of events. So yes, amazing ending, you even admited it with this comment. It's just that your whining and position of "fandom" at the time didn't allowed you to trully appreciate LOST and its closure.
"I was led to believe the flashes were showing us what the characters' lives would have been if the plane crash had never taken place" I'm not sure how you thought that. Their lives were completely different and in most cases bear no resemblance to their actual lives before the crash.
@@LarsFerdinand Don't tell me what to whine and bitch about lol. It would have been better than the purgatory ending we got, in my opinion. It wouldn't have all been a dream anyway, more like an alternate timeline.
I've watched 3 times. First time on TV. Second time binged and saw more connections between not only the survivors but their family members. Third time with my daughter. This was the most enjoyable seeing my daughter's reactions. I loved the final season with the characters remembering each other.
I'm rewatching this show for the 7th time, and in my opinion, this is the best show ever. Alot of friends asking me why im rewatching this, but believe me, on every rewatch i find something new, and that scares me sometimes cuz i feel like someone added that new part, show is different everytime and i dont know how! Same I’ve seen this series at least 3 times and each time I’m like, wait I don’t remember this! I wonder if there’s a conspiracy where the show changes each time you watch it 😜😜
Its impossible anything changed. Its so complicated to make a show with actors, cameras, effects.. Its says a lot how when you view the World subjectively, you focus on what you want to see more , than alowing the whole truth in because its too much information. If you look objectively you see it as it is.. No hiden anything
I just finished watching the show. After meaning to watch it for so long, i finally committed to it and oh my god what a phenomenal piece of writing. I had heard many bad things about the show and to my surprise I was so pleased with the ending. I don’t think it was confusing at all in my opinion - a perfect ending for an amazing show. Wayyy ahead of it’s time!
I did not have any problems with the show. I didn't love the end, but after thinking about it, I came to the conclusions shared in this video. This video was not a revelation to me.
It's so simple to be explained, everything is explained by Christian to Jack. The footage of the plane wreckage that aired over the credits was not meant to be taken as apart of the story, it was just for emotional reminiscence.
How people didn’t understand the ending is beyond me. The flashsideways in season 6 is purgatory, but everything that happened on the island was real. Jack and his dad literally have a conversation which very clearly explains that. For me, the flashsideways saved season 6. In fact, I think the show would’ve been much better without Jacob and the Man in Black. They were not needed for what the show was actually about... human connection. In my opinion, season 2 was the best and I’d go as far as to say it’s the best season of any TV show, ever.
I was a huge lost fan at the time, spent all my time on the fuselage forums dissecting every episode after it aired. Travelled from Ireland twice to two lost charity fandom events in Hollywood at the time... No one was more gutted then me with season 6 and the finale... It still hurts.... @@AS-mq5cs I first watched lost when I was 12. It was pretty difficult to follow along but I still enjoyed it. I just rewatched it 10 years later and I can say it’s one of my all time favorites.
I watched this show when it aired from start of Season 4. Then some years afterI re-watched it. Then recently I binge watched it in just some weeks during Covid. It truly amazes me how it's only the third time I could pick up on all the finer details, especially from Season 6. It was truly written for the fans, giving you details spanning backwards that was very hard for anyone but hardcore fans to pick up on and understand, and remember. It's an amazing show and I usually tell people that Season 2 and half-way into 3 is the 'tough phase' - where things just becomes stranger and stranger, and you are left with more and more questions. But then, somewhere there in S03 small trickles of answers appear. If you still do not like this show when S03 has gone through half way ...then you can stop right there. But if you do - it's the most amazing show I've ever seen and I'm already looking forward seeing it again.... just convinced a colleague at work to see it and he's binged four seasons in 3 weeks time now.
I may have not watched this many series in my lifetime yet, but I've watched a few, and despite I've seen some really amazing shows like Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones or The Walking Dead, nothing comes close to the geniality of Lost. You truly have to dedicate some time to analyze the series, everything about it its great. At this point I can safely say that if you did not enjoy the ending, its because you truly didn't understand what the series was about.
Same. I cried at a couple here and there but for some reason when Claire and Charlie are reunited, whatever was keeping my tears back decided to break. Lol
People that say the show just kept adding mysteries at random should rewatch it. Clues were left from the start of it all. The showrunners seemed to have known exactly what we discover in season six. Locke is playing backgammon in season 1 and jack finds jacobs and the smoke monsters stones in the cave where their mothers corpse is as well. I remember not liking the ending years ago but after a rewatch i realize i must have been unable to grasp it. Pretty unique show with much food for thought.
They had lots of ideas early on, but they didn't exactly know stuff. There was literally no time for that. They knew that there was this "white vs black/light vs dark" conflict, but Jacob didn't exist until like season 3.
This is always how I understood the ending, the flash-sideways, etc... I thought Christian explained things really well to wrap things up. I thought it was beautiful and perfect.
@@wolfcub1835 No more seasons needed, indeed the finale is pretty well explained, and I would say that actually it could be more discrete explaining things... During the show, the island acts metaphorically as heaven which as a protector that must make sure that the bright light never gets "turned off" which means that the temptations of individuals over the island represents what in christianity is called "sin" and it was portrayed during the series by the black smoke that was Jacob's brother that tried to take advantage of the island by trying escaping from her. The plague that Rosseau and the Emperor on the temple were always talking about, meant the illness of people sins whenever they got consumed by the black smoke as it happend with Sayid that accepted taking advantage of the island over others in order to get his love back, once again, he fell on temptations and followed the Jacob's brother path, anyway, he redeem himself at the end by sacrificing himself so that the other characters could escape from the submarine, that means what Locke would call an "Island Sacrifice". On the other hand who tries to exploit the island while keeping faith on her the island can offer anything people want, which was something that has been told a lot throughout the episodes and got protrayed by the "Island Protector" that was initially Jacob and he had to be exchange by one of the "candidates". This series is an ode to life and faith, the aftermath of the island is exactly heaven (which makes totally sense once in afterlife you don't have the notion of time and space as in real life, which has been clarified by Jack's father at the end). In the end, everyone was dead, as Jack's father said "Everyone dies, some earlier, others later", those who stayed on the island died there soon or later and those who espape also died soon or later, it happens that some of the characters weren't ready to accept it, which becomes clear when Ben stands outside waiting for the only person he has ever cared about his daughter that hadn't realised yet. The show starts with Jack opening his eyes, and ends with him closing them, exactly what happens when your life starts and ends. Sorry if my point wasn't that clear, my english isn't that good and I don't have much time to write this, i just wanted to clarify to you that during the whole series, from the beggining to end, we receive tips that will make total sense at the final when put together.
It's emotionally satisfying, completing the characters' journeys beautifully. The people dissatisfied wished to get answers to all the mysteries set up, which is a fair enough wish in a mystery story!
Just finished my latest rewatch binge session and have now watched it 5 times in total. Every time I watch the grooves in my stone that write ‘best show ever’ got deeper and deeper. I have a strong feeling that there will never be a show that will change my mind. Nothing else comes even close for me when it comes to tv shows.
I loved "Lost" and was very satisfied with the ending. Considering that before I saw the first episode, I seriously thought we were gonna get a souped up version of the reality show "Survivor"! I was never so glad to be wrong!
Ending of lost was beautiful, so many poignant themes knit together, love, lost, redemption, souls waiting for each other and the afterlife imagined. I cried through every flashback. Almost every question was answered, short of - what created the island (life) and why. But that answer is for us to find.
Thank you thank you Looper for perfectly explaining this great ending to all and anyone who still was confused or interpreted it in a somewhat much less satisfying way. As soon as it's fully understood, I can't see how you can't love the show's ending. Great video!
I just finished rewatching the show for the first time since it ended. I must have been 13 or so when it was over, so rewatching it now I have a much better understanding and appreciation for the beauty that this show is. I love the whole thing, beginning to end.
Best TV show of my life. Elevated television to a point no one could match. Just finished my 3rd viewing of this series, crying my way through The End.
Exactly as I interpreted it, finally I can put mind to rest with the show knowing I got it! Fantastic show and the best of all time for me. Takes you places mentally and emotionally you don't really go to. Amazing writers, director, music and acting 👏 ❤

Anthony Dayrr TV stfu it’s a great show
I was almost lost for that period, but it hit home *real good* when they prematurely ended the series with a doctored up 6th season to a story that was supposed to continue.
The show started with Jack opening his eyes and ended with him closing his eyes
Like in life
It also started and ended with him in the same area walking past the white shoe hanging in that tree. A clean shoe in the first episode and a dirty one in the last. Which i believe were Christian Shepard's shoes he was wearing.
So much symbolism in the entire series. Still has an impact on my life 7years after binge watching the entire show.
And with Vincent the dog being the first and last thing he meets on the island 😭
Season 1 of Lost was some of the best television ever written. It was so ahead of its time.

For me personally, the love story between Desmond and Penny was beautifully written!
My favorite!
It was. Like 12th graders, they only wanted each other when they weren't around each other. Just as love should be.

I just finished it for the second time, and you are spot on. Older but wiser. And much more appreciative of a well written and performed show.
i wouldnt call it masterfull. i just finished it first time ever watched.
i always avoided it assuming it was going to be either a series long tom hanks on island show. or survival drama reality bs or some mix.
that said it was shockingly good show. i personally didnt understand the confusion with the ending. they explained it all really well. with the 2nd to last episode. then the 2 hour finalle.
but i also know most people are not very inteligent. and are very ridgid never wanting to think outside the box.

I used to think Lost was the worst ending I ever saw.... Then I dedicated years to Game of Thrones....; now I remember Lost more fondly 🤭🤷♀️
That's the truth! 'Why do you think I came?' Really?!?!??
I watched every episode when it aired. Never has there been or I think will be a show that moved me so deeply.

I watched 6 seasons 3 times. I don't know why, there is something in this series that attracts me. The most impressive series I've ever watched.
The ending always made sense to me, it was just everyone meeting up in the afterlife after their respective deaths (which happened at different times in the world of the living). What was confusing was how some people ended up thinking they were dead the whole time...

I still remember watching season 1, when the pilot gets killed by the not-shown-then smoke monster, and I believed, kinda hoped, it to be a dinosaur. xD
Same! I Remeber thinking it was a dinosaur also
I remember, when Rose commented that some of the monster's noises seemed familiar to her and I had no clue. I'm not from NY so I couldn't understand her reference.
Years later on a completely different show or movie I hear noises that immediately remind me of the monster. Stuff like the register in a cab in New York City or something.
I thought it was a big dinosaur type bird hahaha
Dude that was the exact same thing I was thinking! I also thought it was some kind of dinosaur lmao.
It actually could be some sort of dinosaur. The Black smoke had no logical reason to kill the pilot.

whats wrong with the story telling? i wont say was perfect. but they did good for as complicated as it was
@@NotHappening-b8t Series creators J.J.

Such a intricate & beautifully made show! 👏👏👏 My absolute favorite #Lost
Let's not go there. So many sad deaths. Sun, Jin, Juliette, Shannon, Libby...how did Hugo forget the blankets?!
1. They weren’t dead the whole time
2. After they dealt their complexes, finally they arrived at the church
When Hurley said, “Ben, you were a great number 2”, I felt like Hugo was trying to forgive Ben for something
7. Dr chang was the host of the Dharma initiative videos. He was the also host of the charity concert. Maybe he found redemption too
8. Jacob’s death was little undercooked. The only way someone could kill him if the person stabbed him before he could speak. But before dying, Jacob had a full conversation with Ben.
Thank you! Video was some bs
Then why is there a baby at the ending? Baby die?
This is great, I only believe Jacob´s mortality was due to the fact that he couldn´t be killed by his brother as their mother stated. he could only by killed by someone else, that's why ben could regardless of their conversation.

Namaste.

I think they have shampoo for that.
Those characters really get into your head 😂
I know it really BUGS me its over 😁
haha quite funnny
This show is so incredible. The ending is beautiful. I literally just finished watching it finally after all these years. I had heard bad things about how it ended and was bracing myself for the worst but it was truly an amazing end to an amazing show.
Same. I just now watched all of it and I was worried as well. I was pleasantly surprised at how well they wrapped it all up. I assumed the show would end without any explanation, but they did a pretty great job at wrapping it all up. Not sure why there was so much hate for the latter couple of seasons on the show. I felt all of it was necessary.
Same. I feel like being able to binge it over a month or two helped with keeping the story straight. I loved it.
would you watch it again knowing the ending?
I already have, and I plan to again!@@Wolfsbane909

Just finished watching Lost for the Fist time. Big Sad 😞. Great show.
I just finished watching it for the first time too! I'm in tears.
I cried so many times. But when Charlie died, that was where I cried the most. I cried when Libby died, but not because Libby died: Because Hugo was so heart broken. and when Jin and Sun died. But not Jack. The ending was satisfying for me, no matter how many people disagree.

Currently rewatching this because my anxiety needed calming relief and I’m taking everything in with so much meaning. Genius work, and it’s so beautiful to analyze these relationships and development in all of these characters.
I truly hope you feel better now.
I recently finished the whole series... It left me feeling my life is stupid.
I remember watching this when I was younger and I never finished it. I finally found where I can rewatch it. Just finished it today. What a show!

LOST is still my favorite show ever, I enjoyed season 6 and the ending a lot
i feel sorry for you
This is your favorite?
John Locke when he tried to kill himself:
"I don't understand"
2019: You still know nothing John.
I thought Locke would end up minding the island, apparently so did Ben so he murdered John.
@@thorgrootsweetrabbit2244 Yeah, Locke was definitely the best candidate. My favorite character, too.
@@davem5276 Ditto. :-)
@@davem5276 John was too insecure in who he was and what he truly believed. He was easily conned and manipulated he would have made a terrible guardian of the island. He did things for himself and not the island. He was not pure of spirit if that makes sense. Everything was about his past.
John Snow
I remember being extremely confused at why people thought they were all dead. The ending was beautiful, I had to take a loooong walk and cried my eyes out. That's just great TV.
I thought so too but yet so many hated the ending. I thought it fit perfectly
Right? I just watched the show for the first time, a bit late I know, and I'm impressed on how people misunderstood the ending. Actually, it wasn't a bad ending at all considering writers were on a strike at that moment, neither was a uncomprehensible one.
They were all dead
They were all dead and we were lied to at the time.
@randysurline4651 no they werent . not on the island anyway
LOST is still my most favorite show of all time.
such a tough choice for me! neck and neck with the likes of BSG, 24, etc. AS far as regular network TV, by FAR the finest offering from regular networks! (ABC,NBC,CBS).. I'm an atheist/skeptic, but I had some 'mystical shit' happen with this show with the family I watched it , er, with...
I feel sorry for you
Richard Walker opinions literally should never be argued smh
@@richardwalker6004 I feel sorry for you.
I still love it, though,
Except they weren't in purgatory at all. Lol most of that stuff was literally explained. Pay attention more and you'd understand what happened
Season 1-3 were the seasons i actually enjoyed. The last 3 seemed like they were trying too hard to make a more mysterious story
3 , 4 , 5 were good
I actually hated season 3 and thought it was the worst...
Exactly. They tried too hard and the series ended with a hundred questions the were never answered😐
@@ytuser_xxv everything was answered, you just didn't pay attention
"I was led to believe the flashes were showing us what the characters' lives would have been if the plane crash had never taken place"
I'm not sure how you thought that.
@@pwimbledon Apparently I wasn't alone with that thought. Maybe it was just me wanting a better ending than the one we got.

Amazing!

Same I’ve seen this series at least 3 times and each time I’m like, wait I don’t remember this! I wonder if there’s a conspiracy where the show changes each time you watch it 😜😜
@Lattaz LOL
Its impossible anything changed. Its so complicated to make a show with actors, cameras, effects.. Its says a lot how when you view the World subjectively, you focus on what you want to see more , than alowing the whole truth in because its too much information. If you look objectively you see it as it is.. No hiden anything
theres something wrong with you kid. Rewatching a show 7 times is pathetic
I just finished watching the show. After meaning to watch it for so long, i finally committed to it and oh my god what a phenomenal piece of writing. The true title of this video: The Ending Of Lost Finally NOT Explained
Full of carp
Ahh those Good ol days of me watching LOST......definitely one of my fav shows
The ending was beautiful. Explanation was so so simple. Wonderful.
Time to introduce my 11 year old boy to the show and rewatch 😂
This show leaves you feeling.... lost!!!
@@AS-mq5cs I first watched lost when I was 12. It was pretty difficult to follow along but I still enjoyed it. I just rewatched it 10 years later and I can say it’s one of my all time favorites.
Show is watchable, and it does have good moments.. but the story seems written by a middle schooler
finally you explained what everyone understood already years ago..
Wow then why are you watching this video 🤩
The final twist: It was all a show made for TV! Mind blown!!!
The ending actually made me quite emotional.
😭
The only thing that sucks is that they never explained what the island was.
Yeah lol this show was crazy good though
Yeah I wish they had 1 more season after jack took a tumble to explain things a bit
It was a little vague but they did explain what the island was
What does this even mean? "Wat ISLuNd was1!11!"
i dont understand why people hate the ending so much i just finished the show today and i feel 100% satisfied about the ending 🤷♀️
It's emotionally satisfying, completing the characters' journeys beautifully. The people dissatisfied wished to get answers to all the mysteries set up, which is a fair enough wish in a mystery story!
Same I finished it just recently and was completely happy with how it ended.
The ending of each character is ok, but there are still a lot of questions unanswered

Ending of lost was beautiful, so many poignant themes knit together, love, lost, redemption, souls waiting for each other and the afterlife imagined. I cried through every flashback.
