I absolutely love 💕 Gena Rowlands. My dad passed away from complications with dementia. I’ve seen “The Notebook” so many times. Praying 🙏🏼 for Gena and her family during this difficult time.

My husband had Alzheimer's, family history. His father, one sister, one brother. It took one year for me to realize something was wrong, it started so slowly (loss of appetite, weight loss, no longer wanted to travel, etc.) He died of pneumonia after five years. He remembered us when we visited at the hospice, frequently. Never complained. Died peacefully.💔
Now I wonder what my children will think of this eventually, will they get it too. We never talk about it. 🍀

I love that movie and her playing in it and all the actors. As a retired Nursing Assistant I have seen times when people do remember and are so hopeful,at that moment it seems they will remember forever. It’s a very sad and cruel disease, but there are moments that when we can cherish to see them come back to us. They feel it and we feel it to, we treasure that short time while we have it. Prayers to all who are experiencing going through this time.🙏❤️🕊🌸
That has been my favorite movie!! It’s so sad that she has Alzheimer’s. My Mother lived to 91, but had cancer 5 times due to my Dad smoking 3 packs a day!! Im grateful that she was as alert as can be up till the day she passed.

My mom died over a year ago from dementia and it was hard to watch it get worse but she was taken care of the best that could be done.

Alizhiemer’s is a terrible disease it take’s away the person you knew and replace’s that person with someone you don’t know I worked on the Alzheimer’s floor at a County Nursing Home when a family member would come to visit their mother or father and that person didn’t remember who they were some would become very upset because they thought that they would at least remember them as their child they couldn’t cope with it and would leave and their visit’s would become less and less simply because they couldn’t remember who that person was and decided that since they couldn’t remember them then they wouldn’t miss them not coming to see them. 😢
I was lucky that my husband remembered me - It broke my heart to put him in a nursing home - It was becoming dangerous for him to live at home - during the night after he went to the bathroom he didn't know where the bedroom was and he walked down the stairs - fell down the staircase twice.
The last time he was able to speak he said my name Monica ! I asked if he needed something, he was unable to reply. Died of pneumonia 3 days later. He lives on in our hearts, my children and me.

How did she do it? My mother has Alzheimer’s and to act in a part like that would be so emotional and frightening.
It's a disease that not only afflicts the patient but their entire family, as my brother and I are caring for my mom with this debilitating disorder. God love the care givers out there as everyday is not the same as the day before. 🙏

A horrible, cruel disease.
An absolutely cruel affliction. My mother had it creep up the last 30 years of her life until .she became my 5 year baby girl old at 92.. Happy, grateful, told me, "I love you" every day til' the end I miss her terribly and will, likely, always will. RIP it up Mom.
I’m so sorry. My mommy lost her ability to talk, walk, sit up unassisted, everything, @ 69. We have had to do everything for her since she’s now a feeding tube and trach patient. I joke often the last couple years that she’s like my baby daughter now and I’m the mother. She’s still there; actually I’m so grateful she didn’t lose that much of her memory, but it’s ROUGH becoming her parent especially after an earlier 10 years of lighter caregiving. What you said reminds me of our situation - smiles every day and also frowns, and with hr speaking valve, she can say I love you with her speech affected by Ataxia

@@MrRocktex1978 at first it was random and rare episodes, then progressed with time but she was, basically, like a five year old who remembered great details about her childhood but unaware of dates and current events. Every day was her birthday. To be honest; I think she held as long as she could for me. I had the best Mommy! And little girl.

Alzheimer’s is nasty. Lost my mom to it over 20 years ago. She was only 68.
My condolences. I just lost my sweet daddy while I caretake my mama alone. He was only 71. It’s soul crushing when they are still relatively young. I am heartbroken and shattered every day. My mama is a 2-time stroke patient who just got out of yet another hospitalization. The systematic nature of stroke has led to dementia or dementia-like symptoms, too 😢

Ms Rowland should have won an Oscar. I first knew of her in “Gloria”. Then saw her together with Bette Davis in Strangers and multiple cameo roles over the years. What a beautiful actress.

Very sad news that Ms. Rowlands is suffering from dementia. My father suffered from Alzheimer's and I was his sole caregiver for 7 years until he succumbed to complications of this devastating disease. My heart goes out to her son and all her family. She is a beautiful lady whom I always thought was such a versatile actress. She has been one of my very favorites on screen for so many years

I work for a senior living center
there's so many many bad things happening to people. you can pretty much reduce the risk of Alzheimer's just by painting for 30 minutes every day. even if you have a severe form of it you can still remember how to paint masterpieces. there's so much about the human body we dont know. those who live in blue zones live till 100 yet America has a McDonald's on every corner. keep your brain sharp and your body healthy😋
