It would have been nice to see Nick daydream hypothetical future kits/upgrades for all the spies that were part of the Chunin exams. I doubt it would change the outcome, considering they’d all likely be derived by their initial gimmick (wind hole arms, bendy limbs and chakra drain, ect) but it would have been a fun thought experiment.
I'd like to see the Lee v Gaara rematch, because of one thing: the training mentality Lee has. So far in Boruto, Lee seems to have only probably heard of most of the otsutsuki shenanigans on top of the fact he probably feels he has to do Might Guy's training too, because Lee and Guy things. I'd be really interested to see if he has dunder headed his way to a level of strength to allow him to at least be comparable to low level otsutsukis

Each one that stops to slow the group down turns into a speed bump if Shino is there with the rest of the team. Oh, Jiroubou can drain chakra? Guess who else can? Shino. Kidomaru discovers the weakness of the Byakugan. Guess who can protect that? Shino. Kiba and Akamaru get overwhelmed, here come three of the strongest Genin as they catch up, and then overwhelming force on Tayuya while Shikamaru uses Shadow Imitation technique. And then the Sand ninja join up with them? And a mostly healed Rock Lee? Kishimoto would have either needed to downgrade Shino from already canon abilities, come up with some kind of counter, or decided that the sand village not join in to even make things for the sound ninja look good. Love him though I do, Shino has to be capped for reasons for him to not be the absolute best. my only thought for shikamaru v temari would be if shika used the chakra blade to hit temari's fan in the air with the shadow paralysis, because if she's on her fan she can't use it to deflect projectiles, but she would likely have some kind of defense against it still, OR if shikamaru could lure her into some kind of trap, which if it was a chunin exam type battle would be incredibly difficult with her abilities and knowledge
