Interesting. Since there is no one to over hear the prophecy the whole story changes. Although this might mean that Harry is not even born as James would stick by Sirius and Lily would hate them all for killing her friend so they wouldn't get together.
It seems like Luna would have been great for anyone really. She is an awesome character. I always liked her and Neville. Her and Harry would have been great too.
I know movie verse set up Luna x Neville. But I feel like the books set up a potentially different pairing for Luna... Dean Thomas. I imagine they knew each other briefly because of Dean dating Ginny and Luna being friends with her during HBP. But then during DH Luna is held prisoner at Malfoy Manner and I believe shortly before the golden trio are found by the snatchers; Dean, Ted Tonks and Griphook are found and all but Ted (who was killed) were taken to the dungeons. Even if they didn't have a lot of time together in the dungeons, Dean and Luna seemed to get pretty close during their time at Shell Cottage while Harry, Ron, and Hermione were getting ready for the Gringotts raid and everything. Because in book verse when Neville recalls the DA to fight, Dean and Luna arrive together. And when the fighting breaks out, on two times Dean calls out for her and they hold hands going into battle. So I think book verse probably had Luna and Dean dating temporarily.
@@kaylapounds1359yes! Dean is my favorite pairing for Luna (from canon guys)! They shared trauma and hobby. She would appreciate his courtesy (unlike Ginny) Judging from books, yes, Dean and Luna would work I also like idea of Ron and Luna together, after Ron gets more mature. He complimented her couple of times in books and she shown they had something in common
I always thought Harry and Luna should have been together. And Luna has such a sad sad non scene in the books. When the Golden Trio visited the Lovegood's home, Harry discovered Luna's room with "Friends" painted in her room with pics of Harry, Ron, Neville, Ginny and Hermione in it. See the tragedy...not one single person from her own House is in it. I keep having this image of her sitting alone by the window reading the Quibbler while everyone else in Ravenclaw is avoiding her :(
Also, Luna's stuff from her dorm went missing & other fellow Ravenclaws would be the only ones with easy access. It is sad that she had to deal with so much bullying even within her house.
Ron and Luna together was by far my favourite part of the Harry in Slytherin series. Love this video. Also, it always made me sad that people complained about her Quidditch commentary, because she has my absolute favourite line of the whole series with "And Harry Potter's now having an argument with his Keeper, I don't think that'll help him find the Snitch, but maybe it's a clever ruse." Years later I still remember how hard I laughed the first time I read that line
Maybe controversial, but I really like LunaxHarry. I really appreciated their trauma conversation at the end of book 5. She was the only one who made him feel better because she’s the only one who knew what it was like to lose a parental figure. And he takes her to Slughorn’s ball, “someone cool” he calls her in the movie.
@@stephaniepage4334 in my headcannon that happens. Lysander is a Gryffindor while Lorcan is Ravenclaw (like the Patil twins). And Lysander and Lily are in the same year and eventually date. In my headcannon though Albus is a Gryffindor and so is Scorpius, instead of them being Slytherin's.
@@taryntimms3787they had chemistry because ha and luns could relate because of their past experience with one of their loved ones dying. They also developed from harry not knowing much about luna- thinking that she was weird because of her dad's superstitions. However, as time passed on harry went on to learn more and more about lunas character and how she is extremely quirky and weird when talking to other people. They have both been humiliated and thought to be weird or bad by other people.
It's a shame that Ron and Luna didn't interact more in Canon, but they definitely seem like a ship that had strong potential. Thanks for opening my eyes up to this pairing.
For me I think if Ron and Luna knew each other a few years sooner they would of ended up together. By the time Ron meets Luna he's already started to develop feeling for Hermione so he doesn't pick up on Luna's interest in him until after his heart is set on Hermione.
@@quintonlange5323 I'm in the UK so I was talking about a uk football field (soccer), which are usually bigger than American football fields. Regardless of which football field size you go by, the Weasley and Lovegoods lived far enough apart that Ron and Luna had little contact before Hogwarts.
The Lovegoods live near the Weasleys -- "just over the hedge/hill" or so? (Unsure of the quote, is it only in the movie?) Probably the nearest wizarding family to the Burrow. So it makes sense that Luna would already know the kids pretty well. Potentially they would have helped Luna and her father after Luna's mother's death -- "Ron, take this casserole over to the Lovegoods", etc. As such, Luna and Ginny would likely already be friends and Luna may have looked up to Ron already. Unless she didn't approve of how the Weasleys treat their garden gnomes of course.
Luna may have known Cedric too. I can honestly picture her forming a friendship with Cedric and helping him sneak out with Cho for a date. I believe in GOF they are mentioned when Mr Weasley and Mr Diggory are talking. One of them is asking the other if they are waiting on anybody else and there was a reply like, "The Lovegood's have been there for a week."
Yes. Plus I just finished re-reading Deathly Hallows, and Ron wasn't sure where _exactly_ the Lovegoods lived, so they apparated around the area a bit until they found them.
Luna was one of my favorite characters, and I often felt the most misunderstood and interesting. They create the notion that Ravenclaw is all about creativity and intelligence...and Luna doesn't seem like a match. Until you realize that she doesn't have the qualities of Ravenclaw but rather she is the creation Ravenclaw's strive to be. It's not what she does that makes her creative, it's who she is. She is an oddity that forces you to be creative to understand her.
I love that perspective. Luna is what Ravenclaws strive to be... creative thinking and curiosity about the world. That's why she answers the riddle at the Ravenclaw common room so naturally!
For me as a Ravenclaw myself would definitly see her more of a Hufflepuff. She was always polite and caring. Gryffindore would have been a good fit as well, as noone can deny her bravery.
I still like to think Luna’s autistic. Give enough context clues to pull from, including this comment thread, it just makes sense. Also, I’m autistic, and it is basically IMPOSSIBLE to find accurate representation in popular fiction.
One of the best things the movies added was Neville and Luna being a couple. It makes sense that the core six ended up with each other and any combination that doesn't place Ron with Ginny is fine by me.
This right here, and the scene in THBP when Harry is yelling at Ginny and Luna... Ginny yells back and Luna simply says "You're being mean," and that shuts Harry up quick.
I agree. I always thought there was a special connection between them that felt unnatural between Harry and Jinny I mean Luna recognized Harry when he was in disguise using polyju's potion. She instantly knew it was him. And she always seemed to be there for him in just the right way when no one else was.
In the films, definitely!!!!! I’ve been saying this for years. They had way more chemistry on screen and I think the ending would have been more satisfying if they had diverted from books at that point.
Firstly, My personaly belief is that Harry should have ended up with Luna. Secondly, It seems farm more logical that Padma was complaining about Ron in the Ravenclaw common room than Luna approaching Padma to discuss Ron.
Yeah. Does not sound like Luna would go up to a person and ask her about Ron that's not luna's character. Definitely possible for her to pick up on the body language hear her complain Luna is very perceptive. Listening to his take on this makes me think he doesn't understand Luna's personality.
I AGREE SO MUCH!! Harry and Luna would have been such a cute pairing and if we're talking about breadcrumbs, there were WAYYYYYY more for a Harry and Luna than a Ron and Luna ship. Yeah you could I guess interpret Luna's talking about Ron and Padma as her implying she would have liked to go to the ball with him but she and Harry ACTUALLY go to a party together 😂. Plus they have that sweet interaction after Sirius dies and then again when he sees the paintings she did of everyone in her bedroom. It would have been way cute
@@elfieinblack4618 And at the same party Harry makes it VERY clear that they are just as friends. He holds Luna's hand and doesn't feel anything like if Cho or Ginny touched him.
@@sanjoykumardas4018 well I mean I have no problem at all with him ending up with Ginny (in the books. In the movies she's a nothing person). She's a badass and they have a lot of fun together. I just meant if we were breaking cannon.
I really would have liked to have seen more of Harry refereeing between Hermione and Luna because they experienced life from diametrically opposed directions: the muggle-born Hermione's rationality versus full-wizard Luna's intuitional approach. Such a triangle could cause Harry to question his sanity!
It's funny. I've never been all that into shipping in this series, but during my last read-through of the series, I actually started to see something going on between *Harry* and Luna.
I had never considered Ron and Luna before. You present some good points for shipping them. I always thought that Harry and Luna should have ended up together.
@@stephaniepage4334 it would have been nice, but Luna gave birth to the twins much later in life. I think Lily was an adult when they were born, or at least 15.
Honestly the idea of basically everyone from Hogwarts marrying people they went to school with has always been a giant pet peeve of mine. One or two couples? Fine. But *everyone* ending up with like their childhood sweetheart? No wonder Snape was so caught up on this. Feels like Bill and Fleur are the only exception.
Literally everyone in the British wizarding world goes to Hogwarts, so if you don't want to live a life of secrecy, you'll need to marry another magical person. So, the likelihood of marrying someone from their high school is astronomically high for wizards and witches.
@@nealfirstofhisname With how their world is set up I agree that marrying someone you went to school with is a high likelihood but marrying the person you dated while you were there, not so much. You tend to lose touch with even the people you were closest to in school when you leave and adult life gets in the way, a lot of relationships fade and end. Sure some couples might manage to stick it out and stay together and others might lose touch then find their way back to each other over time but you're more likely to see other people you didn't talk to or barely knew and have something spark in the new context. Maybe a ravenclaw girl you remember being in your class but never spoke to now works in the same department as you and you start getting to know each other. Maybe the slytherin boy who was a few years ahead of you that you saw in the hallways now is the barista at your favorite cafe in Diagon Alley and you start chatting while you're there each day. There are so many other ways for people to properly meet the people they went to school with and falling in love that's more realistic then just "Oh yeah we dated at Hogwarts and we've been together ever since"
I mean, tbf, I think it's much more likely to be in a relationship with someone from the same country as you. Of course, there would have been people from all around the world attending Hogwarts. I just mean that it would be much more likely for people to be in relationships with those who attended the same school since there is only one wizarding school in Britain
I've always thought the ships should've been: Harry/Hermione, Ron/Luna and Neville/Ginny. By the way, Ron most likely did know Luna, or at least knew of her, because they were neighbors. The Lovegoods were casually mentioned when the Diggorys, Weasleys, Harry and Hermione were gathering around the portkey to take them to the World Cup in GoF. (They'd been at the campsite for a week or 2 before the game).
This is made for me, I’ve been saying this for so long, they complement each other’s flaws so well; fan pairings are so often chemistry-based, but these two I think are rooted in personal growth. I’m not sure I’d consider them a pair that would last, but I think if they were to get together they would at least part as much happier people. Edit: Don’t get me started on how much (book) Ron Mean-Spirited-Banter Weasley seems to like having Luna around, despite most other characters throwing pretty inconsiderate words her way when they interact with her. I could talk about these two all day man.
The most important thing about this pairing . Ron has the capacity to enjoy Luna's kind insanity, despite it being absurd he doesn't focus on it so much . Meanwhile, Ron has many insecurities but if there is one person that won't care about insecurities other people have, won't care about popularity, won't care about anything concerning other people, that's Luna. Luna obviously has a crush on him, and little did Ron know.. Luna was the perfect girl for him. If Ron and Luna were to get together, I would really like a scene in Bill and Fleur's wedding were Luna appears in the wedding and some people think she's as beautiful as Fleur (Luna isn't very pretty in the books since she never cares enough about appearances to try)
Fun fact: The first time the Lovegood’s are mentioned in the series is in the Goblet of Fire chapter titled “The Portkey” when Amos Diggory tells Arthur that the Lovegoods didn’t manage to get tickets to the Quidditch World Cup….. Which leads me to my thesis statement that the Lovegoods are none other than members of the Anti-Quidditch Association. Think about it….someone as wealthy and influential as Sir Xenophilius "Xeno" Lovegood, editor-in-chief of the hugely successful Quibbler news organization, didn’t manage to score tickets but the Weasleys scored almost a dozen tickets just because Arthur helped Bagmans brother with a cursed lawnmower, or whatever it was? Unless Arthur acted like the only way 2 discover the function of a rubber duck was inside Bagmans underwear, then it doesn’t sound like the tickets were too hard to acquire for Bagman. Make it make sense. The ONLY logical solution is the Lovegoods are notorious Quidditch Haters. Also, when Luna commentated on the Hogwarts Quidditch match, she clearly tried to sabotage the sport by commentating on anything but the match. And when she wore the lions head, it was also to distract spectators from the match. More eyes on her, less eyes on Quidditch. Also, explains her friendship with Harry and her seeking him out…she is attempting to pull the youngest Seeker in a century, from the sport. I don’t know, you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it drink… Please my friends…drink up this information and be full of knowledge. Peace and love☮️✌🏼 *(this started as a joke, but I may have convinced even myself.)*
I thought the Lovegoods had such cheap tickets that they had to get to the site two weeks before the match. Which I think is odd considering they have a magazine to run. I suppose the Quibbler could go on hiatus over the summer.
@@dustylens2137 yeah I think it was the McKinnons who coudln’t get tickets. I might have to double check that. But the Lovegoods had been there for a bit
"No, the Lovegoods have been there for a week already and the Fawcetts couldn't get tickets," said Mr. Diggory. There's probably no other mention of the Fawcetts? No school-aged kids at that time?
I know some people are gonna hate me for this but I ship Hermione and Neville. Hermione was Neville’s first friend and vice versa Hermione was the only one looking for Trevor and Hermione and Neville always worked together in class and Hermione always helped Neville study and more. And when Neville first heard about the Yule ball the first person he asked was Hermione. Also I like Harry and Ginny in the books
Well I agree to. It would have been nice. I think Neville actually liked Hermione but Hermione doesn't have feelings for him. But I think it's a very good theory and I ship it but I like the original ships.
i actually always saw hermione and neville's friendship as equivalent to lily and lupin's. they're a sweet friendship, i never got romantic vibes from them EVER. but i suppose thats the beauty of fiction you're free to ship whoever you want
YES of ron and hemrione didn't get together (there chemistry is too obvious they just had to be together all those years of flirting would be wasted) but hemrione would 100% end up with neville and luna and ron
I don't ship it as much as this others ships, but now that you mention it. It has potential . The fact that the main herione has to always get with one of the male leads is played out
I feel like this ship would have worked out a lot better for the plot. For one thing, Ron and Hermione are always fighting and even if you try to pass it off as romantic, it's just not. Next, I feel like Harry should have ended up with the person that he went through everything with, and shared so many moments with. Ginny could have then been with Neville
Yes! Hermione and Ron's relationship is fine as friends, but she's practically his mother. Let them each be happy with a complimentary person instead of always fighting because they're so different!
In the movies maybe, in the books it's more like childish bickering. But the books set it up best. My favorite part of it being either in OOTP or HBP when they are bickering and Harry thinks they sound like Mr and Mrs Weasley, AKA an "old married couple."
Yes that would have been great but jk just made ron and hemrione chemistry too obvious like that bickering and flirting jealousy protectiveness just for them to not get together it's not worth it
That'd be fitting... Ron's and Hermione's relationship bordered on toxic a little too often for me. But personally I always really liked her with Krum (more so book Hermione than movie Hermione).
Except Hermione and Neville didn’t really have chemistry. And that woood be the remaining pairing in the gold/silver trio unless two of the three relationships end up being LGBT+, which while interesting would not follow anything close to the boon lore.
@@sross9501 toxic? I mean, there was Jealousy but they were basically kids. While certain characteristics likely stayed into adulthood, they likely changed a lot when they grew up.
I picked up on Luna having a thing for Ron several years ago and even wondered if part of Hermione's fiction for Luna was how obvious it is. I always assumed other people knew about it and just didn't speak on it because it's clear Ron would never be with her. I was happy to hear the moments you pointed out on Ron's side but I just do not see him actually going out with her. While he wants to stand out I just do not see him wanting to be thought of as weird. I could see him being embarrassed any time she talks about Nargles and she deserves better than a guy that is embarrassed by her. I prefer to think that Neville and Luna date for a while after the battle before parting amicable due to their career choices.
All of those were wild stretches. Like the thing with Padma was probably just get listening to Padma complain to her friends about the terrible date. I don't think she had a crush, I think Luna just found people interesting, after all, she is the daughter of a journalist. And they were neighbors. It's quite possible Luna and the younger Weasley's played together as kids. Maybe every knew Cedric since the Diggory's lived in the same village.
Also, only movie verse sets up Neville/Luna. Book verse makes it seem more like Dean/Luna became a couple briefly. Probably ended when she went back to Hogwarts the next fall.
I actually shipped Ron and Luna the first time I read the books. This video delightfully brought me back. Red Moon for Life! I will say on the subject of Harry and Hermione. Yes, in the movies. No, in the books. It’s a bit of a double edged sword to me because I appreciate a platonic relationship between a guy and a girl.
Harry and Luna should have got together, they were both the outcasts and had a deep understanding of each other. Ron and Hermione are the classic "opposites attract"
I can see why people love this pairing, but I like that they were just friends who understood each other. I think it was nice that she felt she had a friend and he was with someone he didn’t have to worry about romance about.
@@CottonCandySharks better than Ron!?? Ron is a great person, hes funny and loyal af. Hes a hero in his own right. I dont know if you have read books or just seen films, but the films dont do him justice. He definitely deserves Hermione
Thank you thank you thank you! Everyone ships Luna-Neville and Luna-Harry, but this is the best match IMO. If Harry and Hermione are together, I also think Ginny would be really good with Neville.
Nah Ginny and Neville together would be so hilariously forced. Dean and Ginny were cute enough but I wouldn't have minded Ginny ending up with some new guy like Luna and Draco ultimately did. If she couldn't be with Harry, it makes no sense to make her settle for a character we as the audience are already familiar with.
I used to shop Luna and Harry. I think if she ended up with any leading guy it would be Harry. But I think a better secondary match would be either George Weasley or Draco Malfoy. It always kinda bugged me that Fred and Angelina were always a couple by George married her. This is a Weasley pairing I see ending badly. Because I feel like George felt obligated since Fred died and Angelina thought George would be just like Fred.
I'm 100% for Ron and Luna; also I prefer Harry and Ginny; personally I don't think any character that we were introduced to would be right for Hermione
I think a Lupin character would work well for her. Not him obviously but somebody more on the quiet side, smart and thoughtful, brave but also willing to take the back seat to her. Edit: Okay I've been rethinking it and, ignoring for a second that both Hermione and Ginny are portrayed as straight, I believe they would be a perfect match. Ginny as that advanturous, sassy girl that makes rational Hermione smile and Hermione keeping Ginny down to earth a bit.
@@delikatessbruhe9843 Yeah, I always felt like she should have gone further than sticking to her high school friend group for life, maybe a guy from Beauxbatons
I 100% agree with this theory and that they were being set up. I think it would have been better as Hermione and Harry would have gotten along due to their muggle upbringing, while Luna and Ron would have had similar magical backgrounds and also lived not far from each other. When I read how Luna genuinely laughed at Ron's jokes and how he genuinely loved her commentary of the quidditch match, I knew they should have gotten together.
I always thought that the way. Ron and Luna seemed to interact and connect early on when she's introduced Pointed towards a possible relationship between them that was changed.
@@stephaniepage4334 That would be neat, but we might need to be careful what we wish for - if you believe the Carlin Bros theory about Luna, which I find pretty convincing, she carries the Maledictus curse, destined to transform into a wolf. If her son married Lily and they had daughters, then all future women of that branch of the Potter family tree would also carry the curse. Then again, considering how gifted the Potter line is, perhaps one of their own becoming afflicted is what would eventually lead to a cure finally being found!
J’s luna voice is hysterical. Love that he commits to it. I like Luna for Ron because she’s something that is only his. Hermione he feels like Ron has to fight with Harry and Victor for. Like J states in the video she’s interested in Ron. She doesn’t care about his friendship with Harry or his association with him. I RED MOON FOR LIFE!
8:26 Im sorry J but considering the "faux pas" is against Luna's FATHER I don't blame Luna for overreacting. She's defending her father and family and tbh I'm the same way.
I always wondered and here is an opportunity to ask. Do kids do that? Insult each others parents? I of course speak specifically about Malfoy and sometimes Harry. It always felt so weird to me, unnatural.
@@estarramanderley8172 I think it happens and not only among kids. One of the most nasty insults starts with son of and is therefore directed at the parents.
That’s what I’ve always thought! In goblet of fire, ginny and Neville go to the Yule ball together, and in order of the Phoenix, Neville protect her from the slithren who tries to grab her, and that’s how he ends up in umbridge’s office
Hey brothers, I really appreciate all the work and dedication you put into these videos. Thank you for continuing to create great content and even branching out things other than Harry Potter but continuing to do Harry and all the trops coming along as new people discover this truly terrific series. Thank you!
Your Luna impression is really funny. It makes her sound like an old man! Maybe another reason Luna could have found the joke so funny is because she disliked Goyle who's probably bulled her at some point. Luna is pretty isolate from other Ravenclaw so I could totally understand why she wouldn't have really cared to support her house team. I do think that she liked Ron and I'm here for it.
I feel like I'm always in the Ron/Hermione boat. Real potential enemies to friends to lovers, but they're just balance opposites that compliment one another. But that aside I really liked the video ❤😂
My biggest problem with Ron and Hermione is that I feel like their relationship is not sustainable in real life. Ron seemed plagued by jealousy throughout. Since we know Hermione became Minister of Magic, while Ron ended up working for George at his joke shop, I feel like this perceived imbalance would continue in his head. That’s not to say they don’t genuinely care about each other, but Ron would really need to mellow out to make it work long term IMO.
@dmidkif I feel like people seem to forget that they were just highschoolers! 😂 People change and mature. Ron wouldn't remain jealous forever, especially after fighting a literal war. I personally believe he had a major heart change as soon as he walked out on Harry and Hermione and realized his mistake.
Ron with Hermione I could take or leave, but I do definitely love Harry and Hermione just being best friends - there are too few examples in media of boys and girls/men and women being genuinely good friends, without romantic undertones whatsoever. Most of my closest friends in school were girls and very few of them were a 'friendzone' or unrequited feelings type situation.
Ron and Luna was one of my main ships like 15 years ago. (Still ship them but I've got other ships I'm more focused on now.) So when you mentioned the phrase "Red Moon" in the what-if videos I was like... that's the ship name! Did they do that on purpose?
I never liked Harry/Hermione until you guys did the "Harry in Slytherin" series. One of the BEST things to come out of it was this Ron/Luna pairing. I love it!
Generally, Luna is my favourite character of the harry potter world. I like her intuitive perception, and brave honesty. She speaks her thoughts, what I believe, honestly in every appearance she makes. I like how she seems carefree but something else lies just beneath the surface. And she has a superhero alliterative name too.
Ginny and Neville Ginny has always been nice to Neville even defending him when Ron and Harry are making fun of him before the Yule Ball. Ginny and Neville were both leading the resistance against Snape’s regime at Hogwarts. I believe Neville became a hardcore rebel because of Ginny. Ginny has had no trouble getting boyfriends because of her looks and popularity. But because Neville has an awkward personality he can appreciate Ginny not only for her looks and power but also for who she is. They start dating and it causes a change in Neville but no matter how strong Neville becomes with Ginny’s guidance he’ll always love, admire, respect, and appreciate her.
It would be interesting to ser Ginny and Neville together since they are the only ones left in the core six and there is atleast in goblet of fire where Neville asks Ginny to the yule ball which she answers yes to. Also amazing video as always
There's also that one scene In the battle of the department of mysteries where Luna, Ginny and Ron get separated and get stuck in a room full of planets fighting death eaters. When Ron gets high, Luna calmly explains that she tried doing something about it and Ron calls her Loony and I don't think that any reaction on her part was specified (Unlike when she is first called Loony). I definitely thinks that means something.
I came in like "No, they shouldn't," and came out, like, "Oh, you're right." Now this is objectively as someone who would usually be on the staunchest side against this.
9:00 Except, when Hermione calls Ron Ronald in all those examples, she's hardly being affectionate. She's anywhere from exasperated to downright scolding. Not much of a term of endearment.
The thing Luna said to Ron about Patil at the Yule Ball, I made a similar hinting comment to my ex-GF before we were dating: She was talking about how her BF at the time mistreated her and I said: "Well, if it were me, I wouldn't do that!" And she did the laughing thing to me: I once made a very lame joke and she laughed loud enough to make the entire canteen look at her.
Why? They were literally compared to Mr and Mrs Weasley by Harry. On top of that, Hermione isn't a pushover, if she didn't want to be with Ron, she wouldn't have gotten with him.
Me at the beginning of the video: I'll hear you out Me at the end of the video: Interesting argument, and makes perfect sense. But at the same time, Ron's thick head wouldn't allow this ship to happen unless he's forced into it
I think the reason Luna laughed so hard at Ron’s joke on the train was to add depth to him telling her her sense of humor was rubbish when she says that Ravenclaw thinks Hagrid is a bit of a joke. She pauses and really thinks about it and I don’t think it happens if she doesn’t think he’s so funny at the beginning
See I've never been a harminoe fan because I love him and ginny together. As for this Idk I love how the movies put Luna and Neville together feels right
I find your speculations, theories and analysis of the Harry Potter books well thought out and supported, intelligent and entertaining. Thanks! As usual you covered significant incidents that support the case for a Ron and Luna pairing. I would like to add one more argument to support your case. There are pertinent character traits of Ron and Luna that would contribute to a successful long term relationship for these two. Ron is not the most attentive or considerate partner. Luna is very self contained and Ron’s lack of attentiveness would probably not bother her. She may not even notice! Much of Hermione’s attraction to Ron is based on her concern and compassion for him playing second fiddle to Harry, his brothers and even Ginny. Despite being younger than Ron Ginny was more socially savvy than Ron and she was a consistently better Quidditch player. Hermione cared for house elves because of their second class citizenship. Hermione is compelled to defend and protect the underdog. Seeing your partner as an underdog does not, necessarily, make for a strong, long lasting marriage relationship as it is not based on equality. Hermione definitely perceives Ron as an underdog. She is always surprised when Ron proves competent or when he demonstrates compassion. I think Ron would have come to resent this perception (despite the accuracy) and I think Hermione would have, sooner or later, become irritated with Ron’s lack of attention, consideration and compassion. Yes, I know that during Deathly Hallows Ron showed greater attention and consideration for Hermione but this was a result of conscious effort on Ron’s part. In the long run I feel certain Ron would have reverted to his default character traits of greater self involvement and less recognition of the needs of others. These traits would find greater acceptance from Luna and result in a more equal, longer lasting and rewarding relationship for both Ron and Luna. Ginny and Neville would make a good couple. Neville became more Ginny’s equal after he slayed Nagini. I think Neville’s personality would easily accommodate Ginny’s independent spirit. Harry and Hermione make a more complete, strong and supportive pair.
And when it comes to book Luna, I feel like the book set up a potential different partner for her at the end... Dean Thomas. They technically were only together for a few brief weeks between the dungeons and Malfoy manner and Shell Cottage and yet they seem pretty close when they arrive to Hogwarts when Neville recalls the DA. And then as everybody is leaving to fight, Dean calls out for her and takes her hand and they run into the fight holding hands. So I think they might have had a brief relationship before she returned back to Hogwarts.
When I was reading the books as a teen, I always wanted Luna to be with Harry. I was super disappointed when he ended up with Ginny. They were amazing together.
Hey guys, I have a question, Couldn't the judges of Triwizard Tournament somehow keep Harry out of the tournament? Here is what I think could have been done, at each task Harry should just surrender somehow before even starting the task. For example, in the first task Harry could just say that he cannot get the golden egg OR else just stay inside the tent till the time gets over, that could have given him ZERO points. This is how the judges could ensure that Harry was out of the tournament, I mean this could be beforehand mutually decided and pre-planned among the judges and Harry. That's what I think, tell me what you think whether it is possible or not?
I've always been a big fan of Percy and Oliver as a couple. In the same house and year, both receiving many accolades from the school, annoyingly particular about their specific interests but ultimately charming, intensely dedicated to the point they're almost oblivious to anyone else around them, it's like they were made for a friends-to-lovers fanfiction.
Have you seen Evanna Lynch lately. If Luna looks anything like the actress that plays her every single boy at Hogwarts should want to date her. I mean she is gorgeous.
Do you mean in the movies? Not her saying she'd have liked just sitting with him if she was her date (sure she might just be generally saying she doesn't like dancing.) Always cheering for Gryffindor, staring unblinkedly at him, laughing manically at his joke and switching tables to sit by him. She has "good value" and "grew on him" after his initial apprehension. in Deathly Hallows even, he says basically to cheer up, Luna will be home! And "Luna has ten times his guts" to a cowardly old wart
I honestly got "Luna has a crush on Ron" vibes when I first read OotP. I sort of assumed she would get together with him or Harry, depending on who wound up with Hermione.
I like Ginny and Luna together! For the sapphics✨They’re already besties and they both give gay to me (Ginny and Harry give bi but still) Plus, Red Moon still works as their ship name lol
I'm convinced that SCB only does WHAT IF videos so that they can express their ships without being made fun of >) not that that's a bad thing, love this channel and the WHAT IF videos
Ben & J it pains my soul to no degree that you guys haven’t talked about WolfStar yet. It’s one of the most popular ships in the fandom! If you’re looking for more ships to do, you should definitely check that one out!!
I thought, the first time I read OOTP, that it was setting up for Harry and Luna to be together… I was quite surprised by the whole Ginny thing in HBP after that. I LOVE that the movies put Luna and Neville together in the end, though!
Didn't Luna in the end prove that all the creatures she said were around were actually around? You should explore the fact Harry is the holder of multiple vaults at Gringotts. That belonged to many wizard families, that probably had arranged marriages contracts attached to said families. Meaning Harry would be contractual arranged to marry multiple women
omg can we finally do Dramione here on SCB? Although that’s more of a headcanon than actual canon hahah! Alternatively Draco and Harry have a lot of interactions 😂😉! Also also Wolfstar for the win! Do that as well! ❤️

Good idea
Interesting. Since there is no one to over hear the prophecy the whole story changes.
Although this might mean that Harry is not even born as James would stick by Sirius and Lily would hate them all for killing her friend so they wouldn't get together.
It seems like Luna would have been great for anyone really. She is an awesome character. I always liked her and Neville. Her and Harry would have been great too.
I think I'd have fallen for her if she went to my high school.
It would be great if one of luna twin son end up with harry daughter lily luna potter?
She would appreciate his courtesy (unlike Ginny)
Judging from books, yes, Dean and Luna would work
I also like idea of Ron and Luna together, after Ron gets more mature.
It would be great if one of luna twin son end up with harry daughter lily luna potter?
That’s just sad 😭
It would be great if one of luna twin son end up with harry daughter lily luna potter?
@@stephaniepage4334 in my headcannon that happens. Lysander is a Gryffindor while Lorcan is Ravenclaw (like the Patil twins). And Lysander and Lily are in the same year and eventually date. In my headcannon though Albus is a Gryffindor and so is Scorpius, instead of them being Slytherin's.

I think movie Luna and Harry had chemistry
@@squulliamThought they lived in the same village?
@@andpeg they live 'near' the same village but their homes are considerably far apart, about 6 or 7 football fields apart.
@@squulliamAmerican or rest of the world lol. They could be the same but who knows
Yeah, the Weasleys and the Lovegoods both live near Ottery St. Catchpole.
I really hate that Luna was bullied in Ravenclaw. It makes Ravenclaw look like dicks.
For me as a Ravenclaw myself would definitly see her more of a Hufflepuff. She was always polite and caring. Gryffindore would have been a good fit as well, as noone can deny her bravery.
@@egiatchess4589 As a fellow Ravenclaw, I agree.
I still like to think Luna’s autistic. Give enough context clues to pull from, including this comment thread, it just makes sense.

I agree. I always thought there was a special connection between them that felt unnatural between Harry and Jinny
I mean Luna recognized Harry when he was in disguise using polyju's potion. She instantly knew it was him. And she always seemed to be there for him in just the right way when no one else was.
@@wimsylogic65yes but no. I’m fine either way but the Harry-Ginny book relationship is infinitely more organic and believeable

I really would have liked to have seen more of Harry refereeing between Hermione and Luna because they experienced life from diametrically opposed directions: the muggle-born Hermione's rationality versus full-wizard Luna's intuitional approach. Such a triangle could cause Harry to question his sanity!

@@elzy7574 Hogwarts is only for Great-Britain and Ireland.
@nealfirstofhisname2877 assuming Hogwarts Legacy is cannon, there are students in that who transferred to Hogwarts from foreign Wizarding schools
And every time i see the scene when they arrive at her house, book and movie ron has the most excitement to see her.
Now I want Ron and Luna fanfiction
Years ago when Luna was introduced in the books, my dad, said the exact same thing. Luna and Ron would have made a very interesting couple.
I don’t know, you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it drink…
Please my friends…drink up this information and be full of knowledge.
Peace and love☮️✌🏼
*(this started as a joke, but I may have convinced even myself.)*
Oh I forgot about that. Actually that's probably why Luna Seems to get along with Ron easier. They were like wizarding neighbors.
She doesn't hate Quidditch, she's just a weird person.
I like the idea of the golden trio ending up being paired with the silver trio. The golden trio should’ve all just remained just friends.
I love that idea too I think men can just be friends with women
Harry and Luna in the movies should have got together, even if it didn't last and he ended up with Ginny ultimately.
@@Hiddenkeymaster3 he only ended up with ginny to mirror his mom and dad, talk about mommy issues 🤣

Thank you thank you thank you! Everyone ships Luna-Neville and Luna-Harry, but this is the best match IMO. If Harry and Hermione are together, I also think Ginny would be really good with Neville.
YES. The core six are all together I love it!
Dean and Ginny were cute ngl
Maybe Neville. That's the only one I can think of.

Your Luna impression is really funny. It makes her sound like an old man!

Same :)
Ron and Luna was one of my main ships like 15 years ago. (Still ship them but I've got other ships I'm more focused on now.) So when you mentioned the phrase "Red Moon" in the what-if videos I was like... that's the ship name! Did they do that on purpose?
I totally picked up on their chemistry in the books. I didn't really care who he ended up with, but they would have been a good fit, healthy even.
That was some series stretching you did to see chemistry between them. I see more chemistry with Gabrielle and Ron than Luna and Ron.
7:37 TBF Hermione was speaking poorly about Luna’s father’s work, and she always struck me as really protective of him.
I have many a ships in Harry Potter, and I'll admit, this one didn't cross my mind, but I like it!
Hey, that’s my pairing!
Alongside Harry/Hermione and Neville/Ginny.
I never liked Harry/Hermione until you guys did the "Harry in Slytherin" series. One of the BEST things to come out of it was this Ron/Luna pairing. I love it!
I have never agreed more with a statement more in my life, red moon forever
Generally, Luna is my favourite character of the harry potter world. I like her intuitive perception, and brave honesty. She speaks her thoughts, what I believe, honestly in every appearance she makes. I like how she seems carefree but something else lies just beneath the surface.
And she has a superhero alliterative name too.
Ginny and Neville
Ginny has always been nice to Neville even defending him when Ron and Harry are making fun of him before the Yule Ball.
I'll admit I was a bit skeptical at first, but you've convinced me. RED MOON FOR LIFE!!!
You support my favorite ships and I LOVE IT!!!
Also idea: Neville and Ginny, Dean and Seamus, Remus and Sirius
🤦♀️ But Lupin loved Tonks and idk about Seamus (even though we know he asked out Lavender) but Dean has never shown romantic interest in guys.
It would be interesting to ser Ginny and Neville together since they are the only ones left in the core six and there is atleast in goblet of fire where Neville asks Ginny to the yule ball which she answers yes to. Also amazing video as always
I have been saying this ever since i read the books. And then i think Hermione and George should have ended up together.
I love that J is repping Team Rocket, and gives Luna his best Snorlax/Slowbro voice.
Love your theories and the dedication and passion put into them 😊😊😊😊😊🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
There's also that one scene In the battle of the department of mysteries where Luna, Ginny and Ron get separated and get stuck in a room full of planets fighting death eaters.
When Ron gets high, Luna calmly explains that she tried doing something about it and Ron calls her Loony and I don't think that any reaction on her part was specified (Unlike when she is first called Loony). I definitely thinks that means something.
what about, Nevill and ginny? their frequently shipped as a couple.
Alternate title: J fangirling over runa for 18 minutes straight
What an enlightening POV of the situations and interactions. Thanks for sharing your examples. I’m a ravenclaw btw. 🧙🏻♀️
The thing Luna said to Ron about Patil at the Yule Ball, I made a similar hinting comment to my ex-GF before we were dating: She was talking about how her BF at the time mistreated her and I said: "Well, if it were me, I wouldn't do that!"
And she did the laughing thing to me: I once made a very lame joke and she laughed loud enough to make the entire canteen look at her.
I support this ship. It sucks that Neville and Luna didn't remain a thing, though. I halfway expected Hermione and Ron to split at some point tbh.
Why? They were literally compared to Mr and Mrs Weasley by Harry. On top of that, Hermione isn't a pushover, if she didn't want to be with Ron, she wouldn't have gotten with him.
Really, Hermione and Ron should've split up... they were better off as friends.
Video Idea: You should make a video series containing all of your Harry Potter videos
Me at the beginning of the video: I'll hear you out
Me at the end of the video: Interesting argument, and makes perfect sense.
As for this Idk I love how the movies put Luna and Neville together feels right
His Luna voice will haunt my dreams
So I think they might have had a brief relationship before she returned back to Hogwarts.
omg i need you guys to talk about dramione
When I was reading the books as a teen, I always wanted Luna to be with Harry. I was super disappointed when he ended up with Ginny. They were amazing together.
I thought Harry and Luna fit better when I read the book.
I'm just here smiling delusionally at how cute they are/could have been as a couple/explored romance in the series, while watching this.
Ok, so now I want to know who SCB ships Ginny with! I know Victor was briefly mentioned in "What If Harry Was In Slytherin?" but who else??
At the very end of part 8 in “Harry in Slytherin” SCB did suggest Ginny being with Draco in the epilogue.
At the end they did mention Draco as a possible option
Ron and Luna are my favorite characters and they are perfect for each other so I’ve been waiting for this for a long time.
Hey guys, I have a question,
Couldn't the judges of Triwizard Tournament somehow keep Harry out of the tournament?
Here is what I think could have been done, at each task Harry should just surrender somehow before even starting the task.
For example, in the first task Harry could just say that he cannot get the golden egg OR else just stay inside the tent till the time gets over, that could have given him ZERO points.
This is how the judges could ensure that Harry was out of the tournament, I mean this could be beforehand mutually decided and pre-planned among the judges and Harry.
That's what I think, tell me what you think whether it is possible or not?
I genuinely wondered why that was never truly considered an option.
You had me at "Red Moon" cuz that's adorable 🥰
I've always been a big fan of Percy and Oliver as a couple. In the same house and year, both receiving many accolades from the school, annoyingly particular about their specific interests but ultimately charming, intensely dedicated to the point they're almost oblivious to anyone else around them, it's like they were made for a friends-to-lovers fanfiction.
I headcanon both of them as autistic so I love that!
i love love love this ship!! i came across it a few months ago and i just think it’s so cute
This was maybe the funniest video I've seen the channel do and personally, Red Moon sounds like a YA Harry Potter spin off.
Have you seen Evanna Lynch lately. If Luna looks anything like the actress that plays her every single boy at Hogwarts should want to date her. I mean she is gorgeous.
Laraptor Brown will now forever haunt my nightmares
No there's no Spark between Luna and Ron. There was a spark between Harry and Luna.
It would be great if one of luna twin son end up with harry daughter lily luna potter?
Do you mean in the movies? Not her saying she'd have liked just sitting with him if she was her date (sure she might just be generally saying she doesn't like dancing.) Always cheering for Gryffindor, staring unblinkedly at him, laughing manically at his joke and switching tables to sit by him. She has "good value" and "grew on him" after his initial apprehension. in Deathly Hallows even, he says basically to cheer up, Luna will be home! And "Luna has ten times his guts" to a cowardly old wart
Ok….J’s Luna Lovegood impression is…Just…Probably my favorite impression I have ever heard him do 😂😂
Nah, Luna and Ginny tho…. YES
idk if she would make a lesbian couple
I honestly got "Luna has a crush on Ron" vibes when I first read OotP.
I sort of assumed she would get together with him or Harry, depending on who wound up with Hermione.
Luna and Nev would of been cute
"There wasn't room, but she MADE room." Killed me.😂😂
I like Ginny and Luna together!
When did SCB become a fanfic channel for teenagers?
It's always been a fanfic/theory channel, see "If Harry was in Slytherin" which outlines an entire saga
A channel making fan theories about young adult books is quite literally a fanfic channel for teenagers
Ben & J it pains my soul to no degree that you guys haven’t talked about WolfStar yet. It’s one of the most popular ships in the fandom! If you’re looking for more ships to do, you should definitely check that one out!!
WolfStar?
Love you guys, your theories are canon imo, but on this and Harr-mione, you’re wrong.
That Lavender Raptor is ART
I thought, the first time I read OOTP, that it was setting up for Harry and Luna to be together… I was quite surprised by the whole Ginny thing in HBP after that. I LOVE that the movies put Luna and Neville together in the end, though!
It would be great if one of luna twin son end up with harry daughter lily luna potter?
Didn't Luna in the end prove that all the creatures she said were around were actually around?
You should explore the fact Harry is the holder of multiple vaults at Gringotts. That belonged to many wizard families, that probably had arranged marriages contracts attached to said families. Meaning Harry would be contractual arranged to marry multiple women
omg can we finally do Dramione here on SCB? Although that’s more of a headcanon than actual canon hahah! Alternatively Draco and Harry have a lot of interactions 😂😉! Also also Wolfstar for the win! Do that as well! ❤️
Long live Harmony and Red Moon!!!
