Hey brothers! Can you please do a video about how Albus Dumbledore’s life and personality is representative of all 4 Hogwarts Houses? He’s an ambitious and cunning young man (Slytherin) who grows into a fiercely loyal (Hufflepuff) brave, chivalric (Gryffindor) and intelligent, wise (Ravenclaw) old wizard.
Two really good what ifs to discuss:
What if Harry did learn occlumency from Snape
What if Ginny went with Harry, Ron and Hermione in thw hunt for horcruxes

@@eroth1008there is the situation in book 5 where Sirius isn't 'locked' in Grimauld for that year. And Harry having good contact to him, will change the whole setup to the battle in the ministry. It wouldn't be the same. There is a good chance Sirius may survive.
He still dies at the ministry, probably by Lucius' hand (pun intended) as a callback to the sucker punch at the world cup.
With the 'What If Harry Was A Slytherin?' being such a succes, how about 'What If Draco Was A Gryffindor?' I think there's some really cool story potential there

@@tylerthomas9123 there’s a really good ongoing fanfic right now where lucious for unexplained reasons died when Draco was 8 and therefore Draco had to become braver as heir to his fathers fortune and all the people that would love to take it from him. Therefore he empties more gryffndor crachteristics and is sorted into gryffndor. Forgot what it’s called but I’ll reply on here when I do

I have a thought based on a throwaway line in book 4 where Draco mentions his father wanted him to go to Durmstrang. So what if he did? Basically, Harry Potter, but Draco isn't there for at least the first three books.
harry has nothing to obsesses over in HBP besides trying to tell ginny his feelings for her and he's not banned from quidditch in book 5
First of all, Draco wouldn't come with the Durmstrang students because he was underage at the time so they wouldn't have bothered to bring him. But this is what would've happened otherwise (if you're confused about why one of these points would've happened, I'll explain in more detail)
So Harry gets sorted into Slytherin, never makes the quidditch team, and is the one taken down to the chamber of secrets because Draco never steals the diary from Harry, which in canon Ginny usually steals from him. If he somehow managed to survive past second year, the buckbeak side plot would've never happened, the throwing mud on Malfoy wouldn't have happened which means Lupin never gets the map, meaning the ending of POA is very different since Lupin never shows up at the shack and gets his potion, who knows how that would've turned out. Nothing too notable happens in fourth year to do with Draco, except maybe Hermione and the teeth incident. Fifth year it was Draco who captured Harry when the DA was found out. Without him as evidence, Dumbledore might have never been ejected from the school, and that has massive ramifications. Do I honestly have to say anything about sixth year? I mean, just look at the ending. Without Draco there to disarm Dumbledore, Snape becomes the master of the Elder wand, making Voldemort the master of the Elder wand when he kills him. When Harry is taken to Malfoy Manor, Draco wouldn't be there to misidentify him, possibly resulting in his capture and early death. Narcissa definitely wouldn't say he is dead in the forest. Just, Draco not being in the story changes everything.
I thought Dumbledore’s planning of his own death was going to make it so Snape wouldn’t become the master of the Elder Wand, as he wouldn’t have “defeated” it’s previous master? But yes, some pretty big changes
@@13windex So true, if that worked that would have also had massive ramifications, because if Voldemort was unable to use the Elder wand, and used another wand instead, that would've been a game changer in the end duel. Or worse, if he used his original wand if he realised Harry's had been broken. I didn't go into it before, but with Draco gone from the story, there is the potential that Dumbledore arranges his death to be different if there is no one else who takes Draco's punishment. It raises the question what exactly is happening to this version of Draco, is he still punished for his father's failings? Does he still end up as a death eater? Probably yes to the second one, but who knows if he has any effect on the story itself. Also, would the chamber of secrets and diary stuff even happen in this chain of events? Would Lucius still get into that fight with Arthur? I want to say yes, because Lucius needed to go to knockturn alley and get rid of his dark artefacts, and I assume the plan would still happen so going to the book shop would also still happen because it is any easy way to find a target and slip them a book with the rest of the ones they've bought, but honestly, who knows. Draco is way more important to the story than you'd think, it's insane. I mean, these are just off the top of my head.

Knowing everything we know in the Harry Potter world. What would have happened, if the Dursleys were successful at keeping Harry from going to Hogwarts? Could he have developed an Obscurus? And if he did. Could it kill him and destroy the part of Voldemort's soul in him as well?

I think Chikararayoku might be right. The obscurus would probably influence towards the dark lord. I mean, look at the fantastic beast series. The obscure in there was easily manipulated into the dark side (I'm having hard time remembering the names from that series, forgive me). It took a whole lot of convincing for the obscure from the good side.
But, I can see Dumbledore taking that opportunity to talk to harry and maybe help Dumbledore feel less guilty about his sister's death?

I don't think so. Obscurus only develop when the witch or wizard suppress their magic, the key point being that they know they can use magic but represses it willingly, while Harry doesn't know about magic at all and it's just happens semi-randomly.
@@JoshuaB1194 but that's what happened with Credence in fantastic beasts, he was raised as a baby with those who would suppress magic because they believe it's evil.
@@strifenineteen the difference between Credence and harry is that Credence would be punished because of his magic and he does know he can use magic just lack the knowledge of the subject and was actively suppressing his magic to avoid getting punished(not that it always worked).
Harry on the other hand never knew magic even exists nor has his aunt and uncle even told him about magic so he wouldn't think of suppressing his magic, which is proven on the basis of all the accidental magic he performs.
One suppresses his magic the other one doesn't.
Fun fact: in Hogwarts Legacy, the friend character Natsai Odani is an animagus and her father was one as well. They were found by hunters in their animal forms. The hunter tried to shoot Natsai, but her father took the bullet and when he died, he reverted back to human form.
and natsai later became an animagus in the form of a gazel (using the old method of having a mandrake leaf in your mouth for a month)

Here is a "what-if" for ya: What if the Evans (Harry's Grandparents and Lily and Petuna's Parents) were still alive? They didn't seem to have any issue with Lily being a witch and, I would think, fit the same requirements that Petuna does for Dumbledore to work the protection charm.
One interesting question is, would they tell Harry he was magical? From a story-telling perspective, it's best if they didn't: Harry having no knowledge of the wizarding world allows us, the readers, to discover it through his eyes. But you'd still need an in-universe explanation as to why they kept that information from him.
Harry would probably just end up well-adjusted, and possibly even a little vain due to his status as a the vanquisher of the Dark Lord.
And it is often overlooked, but Harry being raised by such cruel caregivers is the main reason why us readers identify with him. He is the most personally-oppressed underdog, and if it weren't for that, the story just wouldn't work.
And even Harry starting each new book back with Dursleys helps to reinforce our sympathy towards him.
Story-wise, that sympathy is one of the key components to the Harry Potter Series success.
@@ugolomb I think if they didn't tell Harry, there could be a good reason for it. Either they saw how being involved with the wizarding world basically killed their daughter and so may have ended up resenting magic for that or they didn't resent magic but simply wanted to give Harry as normal of a childhood as they could before he went off to Hogwarts. They may not have punished him for using magic when he was younger the way the dursleys did, but maybe they ended up unintentionally gaslighting him in order to explain away the magic until he goes to Hogwarts and realises, putting a strain on his relationship with his grandparents which you see develop during the holidays of the later books.
@@ugolombWhy they wouldn't tell him he's a wizard, when they were happy for Lily. Is simple. At the time it probably seemed like just a different type of boarding school for their gifted child. But after hearing Lily was killed with magic and the bad wizard that killed her is after baby Harry. Of course they wouldn't tell him anything about Hogwarts or him being a wizard.

Actually, Sirius would remind Harry that Hermione is a girl, his best friend, and the only student to actively support him after his name came out, if Ron had the row with Harry like usual. Meaning, Harry would ask Hermione, who would immediately say yes, because Krum didn’t ask her yet, and she’d be glad that Harry asked her instead of Ron, who’s not that great company especially during the month leading up to the first task.
Yes, Ron would be jealous, but Hermione would simply remind him that he should have asked earlier rather than wait until the last minute. Ron wouldn’t have a date, Krum would take another girl, and if someone used Hermione as Krum’s hostage, then words would definitely be exchanged as to why Harry had two friends in danger and expected to leave one behind (remember, he has a “saving people” thing).
I like to believe that if Harry needs to go back to the Dursleys, Sirius won’t let him go alone. I feel like Sirius would pretend to be Harry’s dog and have a little mischief.
Also Harry might go on ‘walks’ with dog Sirius, Sirius will transform and travel to places across Britain - such as Godric’s Hollow. Harry will have a lot more knowledge about the wizard in world, his family etc. this might make the ‘Snape memories, of James being a bully less shocking/hurtful because he has so many good stories to cushion it with.
I doubt Dumbledore would allow that and just help Sirius buy a nearby house so he can visit/watch.
@@anvos658 The more vehement Dumbledore is about basically imprisoning Harry at privet drive the more important it is that he finally reveals why that is necessary. If Dumbledore told Harry what he told him at the end of Order, in the end of this altered Prisoner, and even told Sirius some bits of it, because if Harry knew the prophecy and Sirius was alive, then Harry will absolutely tell Sirius so Dumbledore cann as well tell him himself, they have to agree that spending time at the Dursleys is a necessary evil…

I don't think Serius makes Fudge look bad. Fudge wasn't minister at the time. It was really Barty Crouch Sr. who sent Serius to Azkaban without a trial. And I have no doubt Fudge would throw Barty under the bus and play it off like his ministration liberated Serius. And it would be hilarious if Fudge tried to use Serius as his poster boy.

I think the issue is that fudge still spent an entire year pursuing Sirius with the ministry. Maybe he could spin it, but on the other hand, a man was found dead at Hogwarts, he was pursuing an innocent person all year, and if he was aware of the prophecy, he wouldn't want the word getting out that Voldemort would be returning. So I'm not sure he's going to like Sirius
Except for the fact that it was Fudge's idea for the manhunt, telling the muggle Prime Minister, splashing Sirius's face all over the prophet, and wanted posters telling everyone he was a dangerous criminal and lastly, it was Fudge's bright idea to station a group of Dementors around a school full of children. Just because Fudge isn't the one who actually sent him to prison is irrelevant. He is the Minister for Magic. Also, Barty Crouch Sr. was never Minister. He was the head of magical law enforcement. He was being considered to be the next Minister, until the scandal of his son being caught with the group of DeathEaters that tortured the Longbottoms into insanity, came out. That's why Fudge got the job. He was the third choice...lol.

I have always had the theory that crookshanks was the cat mentioned in Lilly's letter to Sirius because for one, it helps explain why crookshanks IMMEDIATELY attacked scabbers the FIRST time ron enters the shop with him, BEFORE sirius ever met the cat and tried to communicate his goals. If crookshanks KNEW peter pettigrew from the time when he was the potter's household cat (which i hope is the case)---it would make the story so much better
My thing is Crookshanks is extremely important in the 3rd book. But in the later books he is useless. He gets mentioned in 4-6 but 7 we have no idea what happened to them. Why couldn’t JK just add a mention that says “I left crookshanks with ginny” and the same with pigwign.

I believe both would be at the Burrow. I can't remember specifically, but I believe its said Crookshanks is at the Burrow before the trio had to flee. I'd assume the Weasleys just took care of Crookshanks till after the war, knowing Hermione can't just come take her cat when they are being hunted (and wouldn't have time to grab the cat when they needed to flee). I would assume Pigwidgion is also there. Maybe Ginny even took Pig with her to Hogwarts for the time she was there before going into hiding.
@@fidelianerina It's also entirely possible that after wiping her parents' memories, Hermione leaves them Crookshanks, and they take him to Australia. I can absolutely see Hermione wanting Crookshanks to take care of her parents, both physically and emotionally. Even with modified memories, some part of them would feel their daughter's absence, and it'd be devastating.
There is a mention of crookshanks chasing gnomes when they were cleaning up for Bill and Fleur wedding. Which makes me think the burrow is where crookshanks spent the war.
9:48 I feel like “a prophecy, *once given,* must come true” is a much more reasonable rule than “all prophecies must be given, even if events before then would seem to prevent them”. In particular, if I remember the timing right, that prophecy was given *right as the appeal would have been happening* and it isnʼt a stretch to say that the appeal going against Buckbeak is what locked in that sequence of events and caused the prophecy. Here, the appeal would still go against Buckbeak, but that wouldnʼt cause the rest of the events, and I think the prophecy would just never be made.

That's the way I see it too. If Wormtail had been killed by Crookshanks earlier Trelawny may never have spoken that prophecy. -Beside where does it say "A propjhecy, once given, must come true" because Dumbledore explains to Harry not every prophecy in the vault where they are kept came true. He also explains that the prophecy of Harry and Voldemort became meaningful for them because Voldemort gave it meaning.
@@sawanna508 Despite Dumbledore saying that, it’s still common to interpret it such that all prophecies are eventually fulfilled. Otherwise there isn’t much difference between a prophecy and any other prediction. Instead, you can interpret him as saying that the prophecies have no force *in themselves;* nothing happens because of the prophecy but only because it would have happened anyway or because someone believed the prophecy. (I’m not sure if I’m being clear there. In this interpretation, the prophecy will come true through prediction or through being self-fulfilling; it knows Harry won’t die from a piano falling on his head but it isn’t protecting him from the piano.)
I think that interpretation makes *some* sense especially if you compare to prophecies in other fiction, but it doesn’t really match what Dumbledore seems to say. I’m not sure how that makes prophecies any more interesting than all of Trelawny’s surprisingly-accurate non-prophecy predictions, though (including Harry meeting the Grim), and it makes sense as a fanfic-writing guideline.
@@danielrhouck There is a difference between devination and prophecies. Prophecies. Devinations are always interpration of somekind of patterns. Trelwany is just very good at selling her interpretations. In the end we all know there was never a Grim just Sirius as a dog. A Prophecie is something completely different it is not guess work it stats exactly what will happen/has to happen (or will most likely happen). Anyway I disagree with the sentiment that every propheciy must be fullfilled.
My idea: What if Dumbledor’s sister survived the three way spell?
I’m not sure things would change much. Even if she survived, she’d still be either in St. Mungo’s permant spell damage ward, like the Longbottoms eventually end up in, or she’s still physically and/or mentally scarred for life while also having a prolonged stay at St. Mungo’s.
Aberforth would still blame Albus, but focus much of his life to taking care of Ariana. Albus would still carry the regret of being involved in his sister’s accident, and Ariana would still ultimately die long before Harry is born.
You’re asking for something that simply requires a miracle that’s the equivalent of fanfiction, and even then you’d have to flex a large amount of suspension of disbelief.

I think my favourite part of all these 'what ifs' is the lengths you guys go to in order to keep close to canon. I don't think there's any reason to believe that the prophecy about Wormtail escaping still happens. This wasn't a prophecy that was in place for a long time, it was made for the first time that night based on factors that were in play at the time, meaning if Peter is dead the prophecy isn't made. If a prophecy is made regarding Barty Junior, it would likely have been made at a different time and would contain different words.

100% there is no chance Barty Jr is able to beat Mad eye and take his identity within the time frame. They do it the night before in the real story. That’s not mentioning the fact that wormtail was the one who captured Bertha Jorkins without who they know nothing about the tri wizard tournament
I thought the same thing; the prophecy happened just before Peter was rediscovered as being alive. If Peter was killed at least a few weeks earlier, why would the prophecy have to happen? I'm sure there are other ways Voldemort could come back, just maybe a bit later than o.b.c. (original book canon).

I always like these retellings! One part of this one I don't see though: I don't think there's any scenario where Lucius would go looking for Voldemort, I think Lucius just enjoys being in a position of power, whether that be at the Ministry or by Voldemorts side. From all we've seen in the main stories, he doesn't have the gut to go out of his way to seek out Voldemort when he's comfortable at the ministry.
Exactly this! I was looking for someone to comment on Lucius. I also do not see him going and helping Voldemort at all. He relishes in the intimidating role he can play because of his status and wealth, but truly he never seemed eager to bring back Voldemort and was only getting more scared and bothered once he returned - because he had to abandon his way of life + the fear for his, Draco'đ and Narcissa's lives.
I was thinking the exact same thing, actually. It'd be extremely out of character for Lucius to go to such great lengths to bring Voldemort back, especially considering he wasn't too keen on it in the first place.
I also don’t see him sacrificing his hand. He was so reluctant to hand over his wand, even temporarily, what make you think he’d be willing to cut off his own hand?
Lucius' cowardice is on par with Pettigrew's, so if he thought voldemort was on the rise, he'd have done whatever he had to to stay in his good graces.
We need a part two! We need to know the implications on the next three years that all these changes have!
What if idea:
What if Remus joined the trio for the Horcrux hunt? Would he even be helpful? Would the outcome of the war change?
One difference that absolutely would happen. Sirius would be making unannounced visits to the Dursley's during the summer; changing that whole dynamic.
Oooooh! That's a good "what-if". What if Dumbledore had Wizards and Witches and such actively and openingly check up on Harry during his pre-Hogwarts time with the Dursley's?

The problem with the blood ward: Harry doesn't consider Privet Drive his home.
Home doesn't always have a positive connotation. It can be awful. In this case, Harry grew up there, and as much as he despises it, it's still home in a fundamental way. The Dursleys, as abusive as they are, are still his family (well, Petunia and Dudley are). The magic holds, although I'll bet that Dumbledore was nervous about it, knowing how fragile that charm is. He's proven right, of course. All those vengeful Death Eaters never had a chance of killing Harry while he was growing up.
Except he does, because it's the only home he's known.

Home is not a place. Home is a feeling. It's a feeling of safety, security, love, acceptance, and contentment. Those things Harry never knew until he finally went to Hogwarts and became friends with Ron and Hermione. Harry repeatedly thinks of Hogwarts as his home in the books, and it's because he found people who love him for him. Not the Dursley's, who abused and neglected him. And really, if Petunia shoving Harry in the cupboard under the stairs honestly qualifies enough as giving him a "home", that's pathetic. The tent that they camped in while on the run could be considered more of a true home than that sorry excuse of an effort made by Petunia, because at least Harry had Ron and Hermione with him. The Dursley's was never Harry's home. It's just a house.

We need to catch SCB up on Marauder's era. Sirius and James were not a thing! It was WolfStar, Sirius and Lupin, fight me on this. They have been best friends, and would have been each other's foil. Sirius would've encouraged Lupin to have a little fun, while Lupin would've held Sirius back on some of his more reckless ideas. James matched Sirius' energy while Lupin balanced it.

That's assuming that crooksanks ate scabbers while alive though. If it was kill first then eat then that probably wouldn't be the case of his exploding. He just would probably have like his neck or something in his mouth.
If Crookshanks is hunting Scabbers because he wants to kill Wormtail, rather than for food like a cat normally would, then he probably would not be trying to eat Scabbers.

I love these "what ifs", but I think you missed a really crucial part of the story: Crookshanks was always trying to CATCH Peter to deliver to Sirius, so I think Sirius would have not been exonerated because he would have killed Peter in the Shrieking Shack. But if we assume that Peter puts up too much of a struggle or is seriously injured in the attack then he would have either died in the dorm or transformed back (like how you said Sirius did when he was in pain) and this can all work out. Either way I love how in depth y'all go! Keep up the good work!

He has some time to kill before Harry reaches the end of the maze, and may be able to make a quick jaunt into hogwarts while literally every student, staff member, and spectator is on the quidditch pitch. The question is, would he be powerful enough to break past the apparition bans. Seeing as he can fly and generally has more spectacular ways of appearing, is the apparition prevention really enough to stop Voldemort? Another theory I have is, would the jinxed job have just stopped when he actually teached at hogwarts? Technically, he was attached to someone, Quirrel, who did teach at hogwarts. Does that count? Perhaps he could’ve manipulated his mind during some of his lessons, making Quirrel blurt out strange things or random, out of the blue bits of dark magic. If that’s how the jinx really works, then it ended right then and there during Harry’s first year. As for Quirrel, Lockhart, and Lupin all loosing their jobs still, Quirrel was just a pawn by Voldemort, the plan was still to receive the stone, and everything went exactly the same, Quirrel was left to die and Lockhart would teach next as usual (Also because of Quirrel’s death Dumbledore would still think the job is jinxed and would not give it to Snape). Lockhart is just happen stance, though I’ll admit it’s the hardest one to patch up as he didn’t need to go to the chamber. His arrogance would maybe make him go anyways, and even if not, I’d definitely see him being “voted out” or something by the other teachers who see through his bull. As for Lupin, his fate additionally sealed by the prophecy about Wormtail serving the Dark Lord. The events in the shack would go on, Lupin would be outed as a warewolf, and would be forced to resign. What this all leads to is a pretty interesting plot of Barty Crouch Jr teaching 5th year. I feel like what was said in this video was sort of a “nothing to lose” approach (if he knew about the jinx), and he’d be more careful knowing the jinx is gone. He wouldn’t make himself obvious, and he’d go off to teach 5th year. This would alert Dumbledore that the DADA job is no longer jinxed, and Snape would get the job 6th year (If Barty Crouch Jr is found out by then, Dumbledore would definitely prioritize Moody over Snape). This would also mean Slughorn and Umbridge never teach, and a whole lot changes starting in the 5th book. This can become a whole fic tbh

Two questions. 1- How does Crouch Sr react when his son leaves since no one is there to place him under the imperious curse? 2- Does Dumbledore offer Sirius the defense against the dark arts job when he can't find anyone else, thus keeping Fudge from planting Umbridge at the school and giving Sirius a way to stay close to Harry during the school year?
I cannot stress this enough, the "what ifs" are my favorite thing for them to ever start doing!

I don't think it's that likely that Lucius Malloy would have gone looking for Voldemort upon learning he was gaining strength. He was actually pretty scared of the idea of Voldemort returning and hoped it wouldn't happen for the sake of his family. Voldemort actually called him out on that in the graveyard. Plus, he knew if Voldemort returned to power, he'd eventually figure out Lucius had accidentally gotten his horcrux destroyed (he didn't know it was a horcrux, but did know Voldemort really cared about it being kept safe.)

The meeting with Sirius after Peter's death would be hilarious. He's trying to sneek around, looking for another opening. And then he comes across a large banner that says
"Hey Sirius. A cat killed Peter. We know you're innocent. Come say hi."
Or maybe they'd have a bit more fun with it and put a bunch of posters up saying

I think how Animagus work is that the wizard or witch has to be conscious and if they pass out or die they turn back into human form
what I've never understood about the blood protection is that at the end of philosophers/sorcerers stone harry says "I'm not going home, not really" so why wasn't the protection broken?

Home doesn't always have a positive connotation. It can be awful. In this case, Harry grew up there, and as much as he despises it, it's still home in a fundamental way. The Dursleys, as abusive as they are, are still his family (well, Petunia and Dudley are). The magic holds, although I'll bet that Dumbledore was nervous about it, knowing how fragile that charm is. He's proven right, of course. All those vengeful Death Eaters never had a chance of killing Harry while he was growing up.
How would the Horcrux (fragment of Voldemort's soul) within Harry's soul be affected if he became an Obscurus? Would Harry even be strengthened in some way by his status as a Horcrux?

Actually, this might be the biggest 'What if' I had ever seen. Harry living with the Dursleys so vital to Harry's character from how he acts, to his world views, and even who he interacts with. Depending on where he lives the ripple effects could be huge.
I’m not sure if Wormtail would’ve turned back after dying but I don’t think it’d have come to that.
He was a coward and would’ve turned back to save himself, possibly killing the cat in the process

Once again, I am blown away by the creative retelling of a story, with different causes and different affects. One story I would love to be told would be a what if story of, what if Barty Crouch Junior turned to the good side? It's not until the last stages of the book that we realize what he has been doing, and up until then in all of his interactions with Harry, he is perfectly polite and encouraging. For his own means obviously, but still, the small encouragements he gives Harry, driving him on and boosting his confidence, saying he should go on to become an aurer, sets Harry on the path he inevitably takes. I wonder what might happen to the story if Barty crouch, influenced perhaps by the character he plays of Mad-Eye, ends up changing his personality, bringing him towards Harry as a friend and protector. Perhaps going to Dumbledore and confessing, and like Snape before him despite the horrible crimes he committed Dumbledore gladly accepts this new ally in the fight against Voldemort. Would Barty JR reveal baby Voldemort's current location? Would the Minestry dispatch a hit team of Aurers headed up perhaps by Dumbledore to Little Hangleton to capture or kill wormtail and capture the weakend Voldemort? Or would he once again escape. I think that storyline alone has a lot of interesting potential! I'd love to hear your opinions on this.
Another what-if I'd like to see is, what if Crouch Junior had remained a Death Eater but had not been captured, or even suspected? Two immediate consequences spring to mind:
a) with no scandal attached to his name, Crouch Senior *would* become MInister for Magic after Voldemort's first downfall;
b) Crouch Junior would remain free and, most probably, join the Ministry himself (and since the Ministry is not exactly a nepotism-free environment, plus Junior is quite talented anyway, he would rise quite easily).
This would mean that, on the one hand, the Minister would be a much more capable and hardened person, less likely to tolerate the likes of Lucius Malfoy; but on the other hand, he would be cultivating (unknowingly) a very gifted Death Eater in the form of his own son. I can even see a scenario where Crouch Junior would become DADA teacher *under his true name*, instead of impersonating Mad-Eye.

He already casted a corporal Patronus during the match against Ravenclaw. Dumbledore confirms this much at the end of the book. Granted he would probably not be aware of this because he's not saving Sirius's life but I'm pretty sure he will learn that sooner then later

Harry did inherit his mother's talent. Snape just smothered it through abuse. Left to his own devices, Harry was quite capable as a potioneer, as was Ron, curiously enough.
There's also the fact hat Harry lived with the Dursley's for 10 years so there's no way he would be able to answer all of Snape's questions.

I love the idea Sirius goes to the Dursley's with Harry in dog form. And when ever their rude or mean to Harry, he growls at them.
I think I’d be pretty interesting to explore “what if Draco Malfoy went to Durmstrang?” His parents think about sending him there, but his mother doesn’t want to because it’s too far. I guess someone else might just take Draco’s place as the Slytherin bully in Harry’s year. But Harry makes the quidditch team in his first year because he goes after Draco. I think that Lucius might still run into the Weasley’s in Diagon alley and slip the diary to Ginny, but the trio wouldn’t be able to suspect Malfoy. Lucius probably wouldn’t be on the board of school governors to oust Dumbledore in chamber of secrets. Buckbeak would have to injure a different student to still be on trial. If don’t think fourth year would be very different outside of Draco not being there to taunt Harry. Hermione’s teeth might stay the same. Fifth year he won’t be there with the inquisitorial squad. Sixth year will definitely be different. The path of the elder wand is different. I think Voldemort might just kill Draco and/or Narcissia for Lucius’ incompetence. If that happens Draco can’t say he doesn’t recognize Harry if he’s still captured, and Narcissa won’t check to see if Harry is dead or alive and if she checks she will most likely have no reason to lie ( unless something changes where she’s trying to get back to someone else like Lucius perhaps.)
there is still crabbe and goyle. they were only silent because lucius was more powerful than their dads, if Draco is not in the picture they would be the bullies. harry would still protect neville and make it to the team. draco's existence does not make a big difference tbh

I love the theory (as, frankly, most of yours), but I'm quite sure, when Moody turns to Barty Crouch when watched by Dumbledore, McGonagall and Snape, there is no possibility for the dementors to kiss him before applying Veritaserum, so the evidence then should be too strong even for Fudge
I would assume that because becoming an animagus takes focused practice of magic, and that dead wizards cannot use magic, one would revert to their original form upon death. I’m not sure that the fox thing actually implies Bellatrix thought the fox was an animagus, more that she was jumpy (and murderous) enough to kill anything that moved. Sirius turning back into a human is pretty good evidence for that, though.

Yes!!! I always read it as Sirius having a crush on James. That’s how they first became friends, Sirius was infatuated by James and finally told him. James didn’t feel the same way but didn’t judge him and still was his best friend. That’s how they stayed so close on top of James’ family accepting him and taking him in. Bc Sirius is devout to James. Even more than the rest of the marauders. Just my POV

With the House Theory, Harry couldn’t go live with Sirius because No. 4 Private drive had to be his home for the protection to work. However, in Chamber Harry proclaims that “Hogwarts is (his) home!” Wouldn’t that break the protection because Harry believes Hogwarts to be his home?

I had written a fan fiction with that idea I had fun but he kinda took over the story I may have made him two smart but the idea was he had his wand on him and was just putting up enough of a fight that Lilly risked escaping with Harry, James got blasted away alive but finding himself in the remains of his home and Lily no longer alive.
I just finish “The Order of the Phoenix” for the first time and I have a “What if” idea for you: What if Harry Potter had better control of his emotions and decided to not involve himself with anything non-school related during his fifth year. You could call the video “Harry’s year off” or something like that. Having a passive protagonist would make for a ‘boring’ book, but what benefits or consequences would result from him keeping a low profile and not being as angry.
Here’s how I see it playing out:
- First change is harry actually reads “The Daily Prophet” and clues in on the perception they're trying to generate. This gives him the idea to not involve himself for awhile.
- The Dementor attack and trial still happens as usual, which reinforces this notion as he almost got expelled, again.
- The Order lets him know what's going on and warns him about Umbridge.
- At school he doesn’t talk about Voldemort to anyone and rebuffs inquiries with “I don’t want to talk about it”.
- He is able to control his anger in DaDA class, saving him from Umbridge’s detentions.
- He doesn’t form the DA, and as such doesn’t cause the banning of school clubs or he does but keeps it small to begin with and market it as an O.W.L. study group, have them meet in the library and begin with other subject incase Umbridge tries to ‘inspect’ the group, and then later they discover the Room of Requirement and use it to practice spells.
- After the first quidditch game he is able to ignore or outwit Malfoy and help ensure Fred and George don’t attack him. As a result they don’t get kicked off the team.
- He doesn’t do the Quibbler interview.
- His relationship with Cho could gain some traction.
- He sees the attack on Arthur and reports it, afterwords he starts occlumency lessons and since he has better emotional control he starts getting better at it.
- Because he doesn’t care what’s in the Ministry he doesn’t look at Snape’s memories, and continues practicing occulmency.
- Since he didn’t start the DA, or is more subtle about it, Dumbledoor remains headmaster,
- He is able to block out Voldemort’s visions and therefore doesn’t see the “Sirius Black is captured” dream.
The main issues with this timeline is how to get rid of Umbridge, and does Voldemort eventually decide to go to the prophecy room himself, does he succeed, and is he noticed by anyone?
Some more Wormtail related food for thought. (No pun intended on the "food" thing). I am not an expert on rat nutritional needs, but I am pretty sure that rats need fewer calories to survive than humans. How did Peter, a human, survive for 12 years as a rat? When in animal form do they take on the nutritional needs of that animal? Was Scabbers turning into his human form every night to sneak into the Weasley's kitchen and taking all of their food?

It seems reasonable to assume that they have the nutritional needs of the animal. After all, when they transform they don’t just create an illusion that makes people _think_ they’ve turned into an animal. When Peter transforms into a rat he becomes a rat (with the intelligence of a human). If all the muscles and senses work the same as a regular rat’s, it’s unreasonable to assume the digestive system wouldn’t.

If you’re an animagus would you also be potentially immune to lycanthropy? I can’t remember if the wound sirius received was a bite or just a scratch, but if Padfoot was bitten and Sirius didn’t get the disease, wouldn’t that mean that in animagus form, you can’t contract lycanthropy?

Molly did ask Dumbledore to let Harry "come straight to us" at the end of Goblet-- it was a no go-- but if all of the pure-blood families are interrelated-- and the Potters, Prewett-Weasleys, and the Blacks are all pure-blood families-- why couldn't Dumbledore just perform the same blood protection charm between Harry and one of the Weasleys or even Sirius?
The protection charm that Dumbledore set up used Lily's blood as a medium because she was the one who cast the Sacrificial love that night, so no Dumbledore couldn't just recast the charm because the protection only exists in lily's family.
