A good example is a movie like "Scarface". It's just that when you're in a fandom and you establish lore, it's done in ways that mimick reality to varying degrees: there are well-established versions of history, science and politics involved. People take shit seriously when they're fans to such a level. So getting the dates wrong is a clear sign that these producers are so out of touch that they have no shame whatsoever. They don't care and they never will.
