I Fought Death With Overpowered Upgrades

- I managed to control a panda and make them powerful enough to take on death itself but it didn't end up well for me. I can still sink loads of time into this game and it's still super fun to kill a bunch of idiots quickly.

About the tomes on the ground, what you wanna do is first fill all your slots without the tome, and them get those, that way the tome will not be counted towards you max slots and you get an extra item. You can actually get a map on one of the new stages that shows all items like these scattered around the stage.
Of note, there is also a stone mask you can pick up on that hap as well, you need to head right to reach the mask, while the tomes are to the left. To make the most of both, start by heading left to get the mask while grabbing your 6 accessories/relics, then head right for the tomes. The mask boosts you gold earned, so the sooner you get it in a run, the better. Both are guaranteed to spawn as of the 0.31 update, so you'll always get at least one of each on library.
The next map (Dairy Plant) has more guaranteed items, and 3 of the 4 are items you might not otherwise want in your build but are nonetheless useful. They even always span in the exact same places.
I was about to say that and yes also with stone mask you can get 8 things on the bottem
The Death at the end has massively scaling HP based on your level. The exploit to beat him basically involves using a character’s “beginning of the game” skill to be able to sit on one spot and kill everything while not collecting any experience, so that the game ends without you having leveled up. Then, you make a mad dash for the red exp orb (the collective experience of every enemy that’s died so far) to rapidly fill out the correct build, allowing you to sit in a spot and kill him. It’s mega difficult, since another red-death spawns every minute after 30:00, and only the first one has low enough health to reasonably be killed. (The red death you fought likely had a health value in the billions
Jesus Christ died for your sins
That means we’ll all be forgiven in the end, telling people they’re going to hell is doing God’s work for him, since he will judge us at the end of days.
we need df to see this!!!
@@jesuslovesyou2616 well I don't want him to die for nothing so I might as well do all the sins.
@@andrewp.9942 no we don’t get all forgiven in the end, but yes we shouldn’t judge
"I'm not even gonna upgrade the Pentagram."
This hurts my soul.
Yeah, Penta is one you always want to speedrun to at least level 7 if you ever take it. The only exception would be if you start as Christine, (starts with Penta) do NOT take Penta on her free level even if it does show up unless you have no other choice fitting your build, you will be stranded at level 2 until it procs blue on the base 10%.
Not as much as him choosing Empty Tome on the Inlaid Library level...
Gotta upgrade it if you want xp. Hurt bad
@@HORRIOR1 technically speaking you can use the bonus tomes to get it above rank5, so choosing it beforehand can bonus boost you. I had three spawn on the level once, and I should've saved the other ones to mixmax, but I didn't.
You can't expect him or any new player to know that future upgrades increases the chance of it leaving items on the ground, without reading about it in advance. I definitely would've done the same thing

You can kill Death in that map, but it takes a special strategy that involves staying at level 2 with a particular character until Death spawns and then levelling up all at once
Runetracer corner strats ftw
@@zshane829 Is there a new strategy other than getting runtracer on a character that doesn't start with it?
@@negspirito My apologies, I thought you start the game with level zero, in retrospect starting at level one makes much more sense. I never bother to check the level after beating/dying as I look at the DPS and the gold earned, the only important parts (besides unlocked achievements I suppose). I always thought it showed you the level your reaching towards as it's at the end of the XP bar, and finding the wiki page about leveling doesn't work through google as it picks up other results first. My mistake, sorry.
@@negspirito you start with clerici, which has holy water at first level tzo level 2 and roll for runetracer, after that its all positioning

Jesus Christ died for your sins
eyy i didnt know you watch this king :P
Gorgeous Moon (upgraded pentagram) does actually collect everything even offscreen. Most of the offscreen stuff will get converted into a single red gem which isn’t why it doesn’t look it.
I second this.
Weqre
I love
Eqwrewe
If it works like the collector pickup it’s a multiplier to your collection radius. The higher your radius through character skill and upgrades, the higher your collection range with the pickup item and likely the moon. So technically it doesn’t pick up everything offscreen;)
Pentagram is pretty tricky one to use properly. Make sure to level up in places where you don't see any chests, level up pentagram in safe places(which fires it off and resets the cooldown). High luck helps getting blue penta.
Luck also improves the chances of pentagram leaving behind gems, a key piece a lot of people don't know. I don't run penta without trying to get the clover as well :D
@@slashen00 tryna get Exdash working with it on Curse 5 Dairy Plant but even with full powerups(minus proj speed) the performance is pretty abysmal. Never got to 30 minutes mark.
@@slashen00 Luck helps, but not terribly much. It boosts the rate multiplicatively, so even if you have luck maxed out as well as a rank 5 clover, that 80% luck still only gives Penta 18% chance to leave behind items to start.
@@GremlinSciences but as the base probability increases, it scales nicely! You get about fifty fifty at 25%(+20%), good odds at 45%(+36%) and guaranteed blue at 65%(+52%).
@@clockworkowl6248 The main issue is that the benefit from luck is smallest when you need to most, and it's entirely RNG. With Christine (starts with Penta) I've had a few rounds where I didn't get a second weapon from the free level and ended up not getting a single blue proc before dying around the 15-20 minute mark with 30% base luck and the occasional random floor clover bringing up to 40%.
If you don't have a clover relic (or find some floor clovers) you're stuck with just 13% at most until it bumps to a 25% base at which point you still only have 32.5%, and at level 8 you'll only have 84.5% so you could potentially still get screwed over by RNG.
Fun fact,if you took the tome on the table after you max the trinket slots, you get an additional slot, useful info for the next map, really huge as well
the pentagram actually improves the drop rate for exp orbs as it lvs up, also, the drop rate relates to your luck stat so taking a clover would be absolutely op
Pentagram was low because it was barely active. Meanwhile the evolved version had 4 million because you already had better cooldown and the enemies had more health
3:57 when you mention running ebony wings. The bottom row are passives and the top row are weapons. You only get 5 of each unless you find a passive lying around on a map. Ebony and peachone are both weapons so you need to fit them into the top row if you want to upgrade them to evolved vandalier.
I think you did really well for not knowing very much about the game. If you wanted to maximize the build you were working on I would have swapped the empty tome for a charm to increase the odds that penta would not erase your xp and cherry bombs to explode. Instead of whip, I would have picked Santa water to evolve with attract orb. After you picked up the max passives (5) then I would have moved left for the empty tome(s) that spawn there every time giving you 6 passives.
As far as killing death, there is a very specific build you need to curate. It isn't easy and they recently changed how tome works so look it up and give it a shot if you want you'll get a special prize.
I'm missing a couple things but I think you've got the hang of it. Keep up the fun content!
i woke up and finally saw him play this game again, keep up the good work DF!!

You actually do want to upgrade the pentagram so it has a better chance of dropping exp, also max out the clover with that
Jesus Christ died for your sins
The pentagram and the gorgeous moon are separate items, both with their own DPS on the end screen (just in case you missed it).
The way you unlock more levels is by completing achievements. Also there are power ups that spawn on the level. The dairy factory gives you a mini map for all the levels.
what game is yjis
The little dancing characters that have been showing up in the closing splash screen dancing along to the outro music make me unreasonably happy
The *EPIC SAX GUY* ❗
Imagine ultimate pentagram and the ultimate wings together. Literally an invincible build.
The best way to use pentagram is to get it maxed early, and evolve it as soon as possible. Levelling will make it more likely to drop enemy exp, and the evolved form is one of the best weapons in the game when paired with empty tome
The reaper is a secret unlockable character, they key is you can't level up until 30 minutes, and then only lv up after the reaper spawns because enemies scale with your level, after that, basically good luck getting him stuck and the DPS to kill him before a second one comes
@@gigafoot9939 yeah it's just not always possible to get the combo you want, so at least if you get him stuck you don't have to be quite as specific with your build, still pretty specific but more chance at a workable build
@@gigafoot9939 fair reasoning
You should wait before taking the pentagram, and then level it as fast as possible once you do get it. Also, on the library level, don't take the empty tome upgrade; pick all of your passives and then go get a book from the level itself - you can have an extra item that way.
"The overall damage was horribly low"
Gorgeous Moon having the best overall damage and dps
Thunder Loop had the best DPS, though.
Pentagram should be leveled asap when taken, it decreases the chance of deleting you items on the ground
I really love these vampire survivors videos, downloaded the game after watching the first one so I am commenting to increase the chances of another video
DF: I'm not going to upgrade the pentagram
Pentagram: You need to upgrade me first so I'm actually useful and you get items from me.
I feel like you sound so much more serious with this game than others
its actually a fun game compared to the other drek he has been playing lately
Word of advice, if you go far enough left there are two empty tome upgrades and if you go far enough right there is a stone mask upgrade and, well... Try picking them up when you have a full inventory...
Edit: You saw the tomes, but try getting them at full inv.
Second edit, FOUR tomes, I just can never be assed to pick up the other two because you get levels so quickly by that point.
You shouldn’t pick up pentagram before you’ve picked up the tome and the mask. The pentagram has a habit to trigger at the least convenient times…
There are up to 4 tomes.
@@TheDonutMan3000 It starts with a cooldown of 90 seconds, and scales with luck as well. Combined with the fact that you won't be picking up empty tome until you have 6 passive items, you now know EXACTLY how long it will take for pentagram to detonate, and can manipulate events to ensure it doesn't pop what you have.
Hit M to see the map... The tomes are a normal upgrade...you can get 6 passive upgrades then pick it up for a 7th upgrade...in the library if you go left you get 2 free books...go right you get the stone mask (gives more gold)... If you do this level right you can have six weapons and eight passive abilities
He definitely doesn’t have the map because he doesn’t have the third stage unlocked.
I don't think he has the map unlocked yet... but good advice for when he gets it.
If you travel to the right on this level you will eventually find a new item you haven't unlocked yet. Good luck!
I'm so glad you got back to this game! It's pretty darn entertaining
He stopped playing for a week and a half. Bruh.
Bruh pentagram is insane
@@grahhhh615 yeah sure took his sweet time but I think I can forgive him
It's interesting seeing what items DF tries, and every time so far has been so different from how I play. Hoping to see another episode when the game gets updated again~ Thanks!
Using modifications I played this game with just about every weapon Solo. The Bible and the Santa water are by far the most useful. While not the best in DPS, they will rip through enemies and give you a ton of protection.
Garlic is actually better in those aspects. Stack it with the usual suspects (spinach, candalabrador, empty tome) and evolve it, (pumarola) it becomes one of the best DPS as well as the best defense. Evolved garlic heals you based on it's damage dealt and increases in damage based on health recovered, capping out at 80 base damage per hit.
@@GremlinSciences Garlic is a newbie trap. Yes it is probably the most effective up to the 10 minute mark, but it doesn't scale. Even at full evolution it wimps out pathetically. Santa water is leagues better to the point where I was able to solo weapon 30 minutes with just it fully evolved. Garlic lasted about the 23 minute mark.
@@YukoValis Never actually got garlic to full strength, I see. Garlic takes a damage hit hen you evolve it, but if you carefully control how much damage you take and let yourself recover from it enough then you can get it dealing 2 hits of 80 base damage every second with significant knockback, if you take spinach and tome then it goes up to 3 hits of 140 or 420 dps on all targets within its radius. The only enemy that ends up being a threat to a fully maxed garlic is just the 25-minute boss because it's immune to knockback, but even then you just need to keep moving.
@@GremlinSciences not sure what game you are playing. mid level to high level enemies will all walk through garlic. When all of them are circling around you then you will just be stuck. Garlic not only does less damage than La barra by a lot, but it has a much smaller area. La barra also hits faster than garlic since it has multiple pools each one getting a shot.
@@YukoValis then I’m not sure what game you’re playing as from my experience I’ve been able to stand in a single spot with garlic up until the 30minute mark. You’re either delusional or just blatantly using garlic wrong.
The quiet destructive videos never get old

Hey, DF, I just wanted to mention on a video that's relevant that the game Neon Sundown is remarkably similar but equally unique. Imagine your usual 360 enemy rush game play like Vamp Survivors, and turn it into a sort of roguelike shooter with multishot and explosive and even things like a circling scythe that kills enemies around you and hidden synergies, different starting classes, talents to level up through currency earned from surviving, and total RNG on each run. It has a level system like Risk of Rain where you yourself can level beyond the difficulty if you're quick, but the time determines what wave you're on and how hard it gets. My personal favorite build is a multi-shot spitting explosive bullet. The games turns into a (with sound included) 4th of July party, just 1 explosion into 4 explosives that bounce off walls, that spawn more explosions when and explosion kills an enemy, and one of the most basic cards is just 'make everything attack faster'
It's just a fun time for a few bucks and easily enough for a series of videos.
On that map you can get 2 extra items completely free. IF you keep walking right you get the item that increases gold gained, and walking left gets you the cooldown book. If you have all your support items filled out before you get them, they get added to the list anyways making it so you can get 14 items instead of 12. Also besides bosses, enemies will never drop items. The items come from the destructable candle holders. Thats why all the loot was at the bottom where they spawn
I can't decide if I enjoy his approach or if I want to scream at the video. Maybe it's both :)
Thanks for exposing me to this glorious game. Its so fun!
DF listen the Library at the beginning there is a green gem on the left always immediately get it it give a full level up from the start
All three stags have free items that able to be taken even after you have a full item slots so instead of 12 slots you can fill 14 or more
Left side free Empty Tome right side free Helmet
The more you level up pentagram the less likely it is to destroy the experience gems.
Jesus Christ died for your sins
@@jesuslovesyou2616 he told me otherwise
@@jesuslovesyou2616 the last time i checked, upward pentagram was holy, downward pentagram unholy
this game is so satisfying to watch. ive also been enjoying whatever little guy is chosen to be in the outro 😂
For anyone who wants to know how to unlock things. Look at the achievement list. If you fill out the achievement list you will unlock everything.
If you choose to pick up Pentagram, level/evolve it as fast as possible.
If in Inlaid Library. . . don't take Empty Tome, fill out your passive slots and run left. Empty Tome is available on the map and can be picked up. Level it to 5 and then go left more for the chance to get it to Rank 6. If you want gold for upgrades, go Right. There's a skull mask on the ground that increases gold find up to 50%. You can pick both up as Passives 7 and 8 and should easily be in the ballpark of 6-8k per run without trying.
I think the closest df has come to frustrated in one of these videos was when the pentagram killed a boss and stole his loot.
One of my favorite series on the channel.
Vampire Survivors seemed like such a little sideways thing, now it took over my life
I'm addicted to this game. Make sure you unlock missingno to do weird runs.
As you collect the pentagram, the chance increases to leave the XP gems...when you get it leveled up all the way, it actually gives you extra gems
Pentagram does about 10k damage to instakill mobs.. it won't insta kill the level 25 mobs and does nothing to Death
Get the empty tomes on the library level AFTER you fill the bottom 6 slots because you can get more than 6 if you find the items on the ground
I hope that you do more of this game. So much to unlock and grind for, but it's really fun to run through, once you memorize the good strategies
Jesus Christ died for your sins
the 'loot' and food comes from the candles at the top and bottom of that map, thats why all the stuff gathers there, coz that's where the candle sticks are lol and the milky way map is on dairy plant....along with a coffin that you'll need to find and touch to unlock something else ;)
These Games Make Your Living Hell A Better Living Hell
So glad he’s back playing this idk why but this was amazing to watch
Nightly dose of dangerously funny Love you keep up the good work💜💜💜
garlic, book, santa water, pentagram, lightning ring, song
heart, spellbinder, orb, crown, duplicator, skull
these not only get insane damage, it gets you insane levels since the skull increases the enemies hp and spawn rate/count. the garlic and santa water create a death zone that heals you around you as you sit still. the book creates a boundary for enemies to have to be pushed through right at the rim of the death zone. song pulses and slows anything that gets by the book holding them in the death zone. pentagram sucks in all gems and spawns mega gems. you want to not move? this is how lol.
This guy’s work ethic is insane!! Keep up the good work!! I look forward to every video
I think that you upgrade the pentagram by listening to Slayer. Also, this game is pretty confident in it's use of the Courier font.
Nice to see more vampire survivors!
First time playing this game one level 1 I lasted until 35 min. You can get the end bosses caught on trees and grave stones. Wasn’t able to kill any of them though.
I saw McQueeb run an actual invincible run, went for 42 minutes before he got bored. His damage output was huge, but none of the reapers died.
I know I've read some comments saying it's possible, but i haven't seen it. I think the most plausible was you need to do his entire health pool in one hit, which people claim is 32,767 or 65,536 - assuming he was given the max value of a 16 bit integer.
I don't buy it, simply because using a 16bit integer in a project like this would be a distinct and weird choice these days..
Regardless, the idea that he has a high health, say 99,999, and also heals every frame or something, would make it possible to one hit him if it was an oversight
@@MelodicTurtleMetal yeah from what I know the only way to kill him is to cheat and make the player invincible and instant kill damage.
@@MelodicTurtleMetal the other comments have said this, but the reaper's HP scales off of what your level is when it spawned in, so the lower your level when he spawns, the better.
Idk the math behind it though.
One thing DF. More levels you get, more stronger reaper gets. Basicaly best way to kill reaper is to use champ with ice ring as a syarter weapon and sit in one place and coolect chests for new weapons. After reaper apears you just try to collect all exp. But you MUST have revival thing to be able to kill 1 reaper
There are two rows of abilities and the bottom one can only hold buffs and the top one can only hold weapons
Who would win?
The God of Death itself
Or
1 bookshelf
You didn’t need to waste getting the empty tome DF, fill all your slots (don’t even take Mask) head far left staying near the top of the map for the empty tome for free and heading all the way right will give you the mask for free. You can collect both for free extra add ons becoming even more over powered!
My favorite build for either of the +projectile characters is:
Cherry Bomb or Bone
Cross
Axe
Fire Wand
Blue Wand
Rune Tracer
Candelabradore
Spinach
Clover
Duplicator
Empty Tome
Bracer
Crazy powerful. Even makes Dairy Farm on Hyper Mode a breeze
I use something else. Not of a personal preference really:

Lightning Ring
Axe
Clover/Spinach (Depends whether I'm going for gold or not)
Bracer
Spellbinder
Mana Collection Orb (forget the exact name)
Duplicator
Candelabrador
If you go with Pentagram you want to upgrade it as fast as possible, since the chance to keep experience increases at certain levels
Man I wish DF played dredgers its so fun with the way you can exploit the game with it's own mechanics like infinitely increasing all your stats and moving so fast you stop time. It's too bad it's not a more well known game

Oh man I sure do love [[candelighting ring]]
a very good starting item for every run is the garlic, many mobs are very, very weak and dies from even 1 points of damage in the early game.
and in the end game if you managed to get its evolution it becomes free life steal so its a win win
17:35 you can kill them but your strategy has to account for the other ones that spawn
Murder = money. money = more murder. Its a wonderfull cycle of death
Once again DF using his brilliant mind to make the completely wrong choices with pentagram!
If you're going to use the Pentagram, upgrade it as quickly as you can to get a higher chance to not wipe out everything when it activates.
If you chose pentagram, make sure to level it quickly cause if not, everytime pentagram attack will not drop gems. Only high level pentagram will drop gems.
No need to have attract orb too it will a waste.
You know, with a very specific build, character, playstyle and map it is possible to actually kill one of the reapers. They just have a few million health and once the first one spawns, every subsequent minute spawns another one.
DF: Pentagram's overall DPS was horribly low
Meanwhile: Gorgeous Moon, the ascended Pentagram, dealt the most damage of all his weapons and only lost in DPS to the thunder loop.
Aside from that the game has weapon/item levels hard-coded, so levels beyond the normal range have no effect.
Who else also watch with disappointment when DF assuming upgrading pentagram won't ease the draw back and just let it to keep annoying him.
I’ve been stalking your channel for new vids for like a week now

There are videos on how to defeat death that will give you all the info on him such as the level scaling and the main weapons to use.
ah he doesnt know death gets your level when he spawns *63 thousand or so. he also has a push back rate of -50% so lightning ring pushes him towards you and is considered the only taboo lmao
There's a level/map/world that has a special item, which is a map, it shows all the items lying around in the level , you haven't reached the level but keep this in mind:

If you already know what Gorgeous Moon does, you'd be so cringe seeing him not evolving Pentagram as fast as possible.
Also, at the end, he missed the damage of Gorgeous Moon and read the Pentagram's damage instead.
The pentagram probably has low dps because of it's incredibly low fire rate. It takes so long to fire that the dps spikes from time to time, and goes back down in between, eventually settling pretty low.
