I really liked the starting with a pipe into an oil reservoir, then building 2 more pipes fully inside that oil reservoir before finally extending to another one. What's efficiency? Never heard of it.
6:00 just watching him spill all his oil instead of creating more silos (or even refineries. but silos is enough and what he needs) is so extremely painful. And here I had thought it was painful earlier in the video when he just created 3 wagons and acted as if that would be enough for that distance... :/ ...this continues each round. Only at the very very _very_ end does he figure out he can have 2 :/
In an earlier video it's even worse, Matt kept spilling and that's literally because he used only like 2 oil rigs to dig up to whole map so the oil come up way too fast not even the horses could store it fast enough
He's drained several reservoirs with the pipe at the top. I don't get why he keeps wasting money on unnecessary pipe. Edit: Immediately after I commented, got to 7:30 where he adds 2 unnecessary pipes to a reservoir, and in January when you really need every dollar to go towards expansion.

RCE, when you hit an oil node, you don’t need to go to the bottom of the node. You can extract all oil from a pocket by just barely touching it on any side. Also when thinking of water for your silo, make an extra node so you can shut it off and still extract water and oil simultaneously without wasting the water. Cheers mate

Feel like I need to add to the spillage of comments about silos re: building more of them. For $100 more than a horse, you get more storage! And avoid panic buying twenty horses. Build more silos!
The thing that triggers me the most is that he is putting the pipes at the bottom of the oil (its just needet to be in the oil) and that he doesnt try to get all oil out of the ground and sold and that he doesnt know that he need the stocks for winning
Matt have you ever thought of getting 1 refinery as well as 1 double storage to prevent spillage it will also help when you've got too much oil in your refinery at 10:05
He got a bunch of good tips in the comments for the first couple of videos, but he'd already recorded up to this one in advance. The next video should hopefully have fewer rookie mistakes.
here are a few tips to improvise efficiency: 1) send the dousers first (idk the proper spelling) and then the moles under to see how mush piping you need; 2) build more silos and/or refineries when needed 3) always invest in more horses at the start when there are signs of spillage. if i have missed any tips, which i probably have, please comment and add to it

Everymap, I always start with a well directly in htem iddle. if theres alot more, i add another well on either end far end. because then you can fit to giant tanks inbetween each silo. Always make small pipe connections never big pipes because you can then connect to the pipes in differnt locations... you can also use smaller pipe sections to explore, since youll be drilling there anyways most time...
i do wonder if you will read the comments, i'd assume they are atleast a bit helpfull, do enjoy watching these videos since i don't know the game either!
Has there been an update that patched it or does Matt not know that you can get all the oil out of the patch by just drilling till the upper edge of it?
RCE.., are you already giving up on star trucker? They just had a huge update a couple days ago, made a ton of things a lot easier. I dont blame you if you gave up tbf. Only engineers survive that early edition. Now even an architect could do it.
You don’t need to take pipes all the way down to the oil hole thing whatever you call it I forgot you can just take it to the starting point so you have to waste less money on pipes then and learn to upgrade pipes sooner

Your pipes don't need to be at the bottom of a reservoir to get all the oil out.
It does give you a little bit of vision below the pocket though.

I have never shouted at my phone so often to “build a second silo!” So much before.
Another reason the games name is genius: "Turm" in German means "Tower". Those are "Bohrtürme" ("Drilling Towers"), so... Connection and stuff!

Put refineries/ silos + rigs close to the shops so they dont have to travel so far to sell :)

You can just turn off those pipes just by ckicking on the dots. If the dot turns into red, the valve will be closed and no spillage will happen.

Im glad the game calls it Petrol by it's correct name. And it isn't gas, and refining wasn't advanced enough for LPG
Well it is Petroleum... and Gas was used in the other areas so it would confuse people to call Petrol as Gas...
