    My husband bought this for me today. It felt like a glove when I wrapped my fingers around it. Not to big and not to small. It fit just right. Before today, I have never fired or touched a gun in my life. For a first timer...this is a great gun to practice and learn :)

      Rosaline Tagore good gun but I wouldn’t personally bet my life on the 22lr and not because it can’t be effected but the round it self is known to NOT go bang from time to time

      glockking4040 that is old ammunition. Modern quality 22lr is very reliable. Lucky gunner did a reliability video trying to get cci to fail and couldn’t. He put one batch of 500 in a vibrating brass tumbler for an hour and 500 more were exposed to salt water for 24 hours. 500 more were straight out of the box. There were zero failures of any kind.

    I bought my first gun - a Steyr RFP 22 LR - about a month or so ago. Love it! But I can’t get extra mags for it. Yesterday I bought the Ruger SR22 (hard to find, by the way). I haven’t seen one negative thing about the gun. Can’t wait to try it out! I wanted a 22 because I felt my first priority is to learn everything about my gun, make sure first thing in my mind is safety for me and others, and it took the recoil out of the equation. I hear over and over that I should have gotten a 380 or 9mm. Whatever! I’m so happy with my 22’s.

    • @MountaineerOutdoors
      @MountaineerOutdoors  3 роки тому

      That's awesome and I know that you would love that gun. Don't listen to anyone that tells you that the 22 won't do because I can tell you that if you need to defend yourself with it no one would want to be shot by it. Accuracy plays a huge role in defending yourself. It's a great choice and congrats on your purchase.

    I brought mine for training purposes. The first one I had suck because you had to crank the sites all the way to one side and it still wasn't enough. I sent it back and they sent me a new one. That one works just fine. That said I have a hard time getting accurate shots compared to my Ruger Mark 1. But it definitely works for what I need it for and that is running and gunning training.

    The SR-22 is my regular carry weapon. Like you said, I can empty that whole clip in a few seconds and every bullet will be in the bullseye. Try that with a 9mm or .357. And, yes, I do have a 9mm, and it's a good gun, but the SR-22 is smaller, lighter, and more accurate.

    Just found your channel because of this video.👍
    I love my SR22 and my only complaint is, why is this gun only available in .22LR? This is easily the most comfortable gun I have ever held, why can't Ruger just scale it up to at least 9mm. And I have the SR9c, they are NOT the same feel.
    When it comes to the CCI Quiet's, get the 45grain lead round nose, mine cycles them. I typically run the Federal Punch in it and I carry it around the house in case a coyote tries to get my Foxie.👍
    Excellent review of this fine pistol, look forward to watching your other content.👍

    I believe in the adage any firearm is better than no firearm. I saw a study that examined over 1500 shootings. The parameter was what caliber and what result. 30% of all ppl shot with a 22 died. Never think the 22 isnt a fatal round. And...in 100% of the cases. If the attacker was hit...the attack stopped. Even if the one shot wasnt incapacitated, he ran away. Mission accomplished. The 22 is a very effective self defence weapon and very cheap to practice with and thus get very good.

      Well thank you for watching. I don't want to lecture you but one thing you do not want to do is to fight your parents on that situation. It sounds to me like you have a good head on your shoulders. So you can definitely make this situation a good one by waiting until you are old enough to buy your own firearm and instead of rebelling against them show them that guns are not a problem show them how a responsible young man can own a firearm and use it responsibly. How it's not firearms that are the problem. Just be patient. If they are open and love you and I know that they do they will understand. Anyway, thank you for watching and commenting I hope you have a great day.

    I just got one a couple weeks ago, and boy is it a fun little pistol! It is made in Ruger's new Mayodan, NC factory. I have a Ruger Mk II 22/45 with a 6" bull barrel and an older Tasco red dot sight that is for bullseye target shooting. It is so accurate, that it is almost boring to shoot.
    The SR22 is a hoot. Zippy, compact, and has so far digested every brand of ammo I've fed it. Although, the Remington Thunderbolts I was shooting through it leaded the barrel something awful.

    I have the sr22 and its beautiful with multiple ammos equipped. I got the red, black, and grey right before they sold out. As long as you have mid to high velocity range bullets it shoots AMAZING. Its like having a long rifle HONESTLY. The low powder CCI STANDARD will shoot 70 % accurate compared to high velocity though!! Real shit do not use the CCI Standard out of this gun. Get high velocity.

    Liked & subscribed.was looking at some stuff on eBay and saw some sr22 mags for sale.didnt know what the gun was so looked on YT. Two videos from Ruger employees talking about reliability with any ammunition and the third was you. was looking at the Taurus Tx(??)22 , 16 shot pistol. If I’m not mistaken that is striker fired pistol. I prefer a hammer. I have a Ruger standard. Looked it up along time ago. If I remember correctly it was manufactured in 1952. I don’t clean it as much as I should. They are hard to take apart. I clean everything I can get to you quite often and it’s still in perfect condition. Bought some extra magazines that are made for a slightly later version and they work fine in it . It runs like a sewing machine. Never malfunctions.I’m carrying a surplus Beretta 81. 32 ACP. Never had any type of failures to feed or anything. Have some Hornaday hollow points that leave a little bit of copper on the feed ramp. Shot some jugs of water with it and it mushroomed out to about double the size and was uniform. I think it would do better if it hit something with flesh and bone. Tried all kinds of ammo and one in particular has a taller tapered profile bullet compared to the others I have lined up on a table side-by-side with all the other brand of bullets.They eject Real uniformly over my right shoulder about 20 feet. All the ammo does good but that one seems a touch better than the others. Hornaday in the chamber and 13 rounds of 71 grain ball ammo behind it. I shoot it well at 7 to 15 yards with or without using the sites. One-handed. I do the paper plate thing like you do. I have one spot on my property down in a dip where I can shoot north south east and west. I stand in the middle and practice all directions. Any kind of practice is good is the way I see it. Liked and subscribed Because you’re not so macho to say everything below 9 mm sucks. I’ll check out some of your other videos.Take care.

    I love this pistol and it is my daily carry. 100% agree with needing to put shots on target. Who cares if you have a .45 if it’s bouncing so much you can’t hit anything. And if people think they are going to aim well and with one eye closed when you’re scared for their lives they are in for a big surprise. No. Give me an SR22 that I can fire quickly and accurately any day.

    Best 22lr pistol I have every owned or even fired. The Walther I had, I sold and kept the SR22. Easy to disassemble and clean. Will shoot any brand 22lr I bought, although I prefer the CCI. As in any Semi-auto pistol, watch your two hand thumb wrap. That slide does hurt. My granddaughter can confirm that.

    • @MountaineerOutdoors
      @MountaineerOutdoors  6 років тому +1

      My buddy loves his Walter's... He says same thing as my ruger, I beg to differ but to each is own... I bet that slide did hurt when I first started shooting I was practicing like I was running away shooting one handed... The other hand got in the way and just about took off my thumb nail... I was don't for the day after that.

    • @delmusingle2338
      @delmusingle2338 6 років тому +1

      Mountaineer Outdoors,,,, Don't get me wrong. The Walther was a great pistol, I had a difficult time deciding. So, I disassembled both several times one night and decided on the Ruger. I just did not need both since my grandson went to the Air Force and the granddaughter to college and cannot have a gun there even after she reaches 21, plus she just was not interested in guns. She does carry mace though. Not great, but something.
      But , yep, she got a little blood and bruising on the thumb. I did get her to shoot my Ruger Bearcat.

    • @MountaineerOutdoors
      @MountaineerOutdoors  6 років тому +1

      I actually like the Walthers it's seems like a great pistol... Between the two though, I chose ruger.. He had the Walthers before I ever had the ruger. You are right something is better than nothing.. I hope my daughter decides to carry when legally able to but if not I hope she decides to carry something to protect herself.

      I so agree.. If you carry a 10 mm and aren't confident with it you might as well carry a bag of marbles and a sling shot.. You need to carry what you are comfortable and confident with. Once it comes down to it, I'd say if you pull out your firearm to defend yourself most perpetrators will flee.

    I own one. It's a decent pistol. I'm not sure I'd list "pretty" as my first point, but to each his own. The manual safety is also a de-cocker, and seems backwards to me. How many manual safeties on pistols do you push UP into the firing position? I could do without the magazine disconnect, too. That just feels flimsy, and I'm concerned that something will break there and the pew won't pew even when the magazine is inserted. I do REALLY like that the magazine provides for a full grip. Pinkies need love, too. The sights are decent in daytime, but useless at night. Overall, the pistol feels good in *my* hand, but that's hugely subjective. Will I keep it? Yes. Would I buy it again? Hmmm... I'll get back to you on that after I've had a chance to run some different brands of ammo through it.
