Good review; thank you. I picked up SR22 about 4 months back and a 10/22 takedown on the same trip. I'd only add that this pistol is an excellent training pistol (because the basics in technique apply to all handguns). My wife and two of my daughters have fired this pistol and absolutely love it (as they build their skills) AND they don't get "tired" of shooting as soon as with higher-calibre handguns. Thanks again for the review!
Bought mine the first week they were released and absolutely love it. I've shot a few thousand rounds through it and have yet to have any type of malfunction. Once again love your channel man.
Solid review. I have a Ruger SR22 and it's one of the best firearm purchases I have ever made. It is accurate, extremely reliable, will fire any .22 ammo and is all around fun. My only regret is I didn't know the threaded version was coming this year. Hopefully Ruger will sell just the threaded barrels.
I bought a Ruger SR22 right before Christmas and absolutely love it! I think your review is SPOT ON! I would have to agree with everything you have said. GREAT gun! Thanks for the review!
I’m a Glock man for over 30 years and carried one my entire career, however, for a .22 I’d feel safe carrying this SR22, but with CCI Stinger or Velocitor.
Got one a few months back! Love the gun. Eats everything I've fed it so far with no hiccups! Not one FTF or FTE. Well worth the money. Great job Ruger!
I picked mine up for $329 got a steal on this. Best .22 semi handgun I have shot. No ammo issues besides some sub sonic stuff. Anything normal velocity or greater is fine. I highly recommend for a great starter handgun or even just a fun plinking gun.
I bought one for a fun/range gun. I hate all the safety features. But love the gun over all. It has been flawless with everything I have put through it.
I bought my SR22 about a year ago and paid $349. I recently seen it on line for the same price but with the laser. If you're not in a rush to get one shop for the one with the laser a $129. savings.
I was fortunate enough to pick one up 2 days after Ruger released it to the public in January of 2012. I have put close to 3000 rounds through it. Absolutely zero problems with the pistol itself. The only problem I had was lead depositing inside the barrel....but, that was after going through a 525 round box while at the range last year. The barrel was so hot that the slug was almost melting while exiting. lol. I've since removed all the lead, and again, zero issues. I love the SR22.
Hey Matt, nice review!!! My Ruger SR22 cost me $319.00 in Dec. 2012 and it feeds anything that I put into it. It feels good, shoots good. No complaints here. It will be a keeper for me. I'm like you if it can't shoot cheap ammo it isn't worth me buying. My neighbor bought the Walther .22 and it is a picky gun when it come to ammo. After shooting mine he told me that He wished that he had the Ruger instead. Hey take care Matt and keep up the good vids.
I purchased one a year ago for $350. My family and I have put about 2,500 rounds through it without any malfunction caused by the pistol. There has been a few failure to feeds but that was due modtly to the ammo. Great little gun. My one complaint is the rear site. Hopefully Ruger will come out with an after market alternative.
Very nice pistol indeed. I agree with you on the price points as well, low 300's is a good starting point. 400 just seems too much to me. Looks very well built!
My wife got one in December for $299+tax OTD, before firearmaggedon struck. But I agree with your assessment of the pistol. It's a great 'trainer' for concealed carry which is why my wife bought it.
We have an SR22, at this point probably 1500+ rounds through it. I can count the misfeeds on one hand. I feel 22's are a GREAT training tool. Sight aquisition / alignment, etc without the cost of shooting centerfire rounds. Great pistol for introducing new shooters too. I highly recommend this pistol.
Nice review, subbed. I was looking at the ISSC M22 today, but I think I'll hold out for the SR22. I've been blowing through hundreds in 9mm ammo lately, that was the selling point for a green light from the wife for a .22 LR.
$340 last month with the threaded barrel. It has a magazine disconect too. Those mags are very expensive considering how tiny they are and have not found any in a store yet, only online.
I have two of these. One operates great and the other had some minor issues. I found that when I shaved the plastic that pushes the rounds up out of the magazine it help. Just shave at the projectile end and not at the rim end. I went from 0 at the rim end to about 1 mm taken off the projectile end.
Awesome pistol. I picked mine up for 289 new but most places are around me are 329. It's tough to find the extra mags for it and they run $30 each but the gun is so cheap to shoot and I found it works great to teach new shooters. I taught a safety course to a girl with very small hands and with the small grip helped a lot. The double action pull is very heavy and long but single action is nice. The only complaint is I hate mag safeties but thats not a big deal for me on non defense guns.
Hey Matt, Great review. I was wondering if you could check something for me. I bought that gun a couple of months back and love it. But I noticed something odd and i am wondering if yours is doing the same thing. Where the rear or the slide meets the frame and rides back and fourth, I have about a 2 inch section that has lost its paint. Can you check and see if yours is doing the same thing? Also, You should try some of the CCI stinger in --- even if just one time. So much fun.
Hey I have a question for you, on a different video that you made were you purchased all those mags. Have you used the pro mags or tapco mags on your AK? I just want some feedback on them since all the reviews I have seen are like 2 years old and they say the mags are crap.
It's very simple. Lock the slide back and inside the trigger guard there is a little tab that you pull down. Once that's down all you have to do is lift up the back end of the slide off the frame and slide it forward. Easy peasy.
great little pistol. Remember this is a review of the pistol not the round. I have not had any ftf fte. I used old .22 ammo all kinds no problems. It does what it was made to do.
Cant beat a Ruger in my opinion for what you get for the money and also Ruger has an exceptional customer service! I my self have an SR22 but havent hardly got much of a chance to shoot her. Like I said before I love Ruger! I have over 8 different Ruger firearms. How ever I do not know a whole lot about semi auto handguns but I most defently love their revolvers, 10/22s, and their bolt guns!
its been along time since i picked up a pistol that i was excited about ,i really like shooting mine ,im left handed so it adds that little extra ,i might add it also has an easy take down for cleaning ,of course the picitiny rail ,and that little serated place on the trigger tang to rest your finger ,and i think i told you before mine also came with a threaded barrel and adapter and wrench to put a silencer on it ,its almost like they were designing a car with all the comforts they could put on
Whats wrong with the SR series? I have the SR40 and it runs great, no malfunctions after 300 rounds . I put a stainless steel guide rod in to reduce recoil effects . You gotta give them a chance, Matt
found a new gun shop today and went in just to look around. noticed they had the sr22 for $350. asked if he had any that i could try out and he let me shoot the new one. i really liked it and plan on picking it up next paycheck. bonus because i shot it (100 rounds) he knocked $20 off the price and its now sitting in the used cabinet. its going to be my first gun and from the start the sr22 was the one i wanted.
I picked up the sr22 like 6 months ago for around $290. Hands down best 22 pistol on the market. I've probably put somewhere north of 10k rounds through it.
Im surprised that Winchester ammo fed and ejected properly. My SR22 jammed constantly with it. Walmart CCI mini mags work perfectly and only cost 10-$12 per 100
I bought one of these at a gun show last weekend. Paid $330 + tax. I had to send it back to the factory because it had a defective right side decocker. Hopefully Ruger will make it right.
6/01/19 I'm a late comer to your channel. I enjoyed this quick, no dragged out review. Overpaid for mine. $379 Bud's Gun Shop. A fine little shooter. I like to feed it Federal Champion Bulk Pack. Subscribed.
I got one for my 11yo daughter and she shot it like a champ. Her first time shooting. After a day of shooting she asked what recoil meant, because she didn't feel anything!
I think I need one of these to replace my Ruger MKIII for the B.O.B. Its a whole lot lighter, and the way you talk, it seems to be plenty accurate to put food on the table . Does it have a rail on it? I didnt notice. Great review BTW.
Yeah we picked up two of these girls about 4-5 months ago at $300 before CTD went vertical on most prices. The prices now are way too high especially if the medium is $400 or so \= Hopefully they drop sooner rather then later so more folks can get a hold of these.
i looked at a new one yesterday and the barrel wasent threaded ,and i bought mine last month and it was ,he informed me that there making them both with and with out threaded barrels
These are $299 at my local gun shop, and have been for months. I've been on the fence about this particular gun. I wish the magazine capacity was more.
gotta say i want that Ruger i have a friend that says its not worth it to buy a 22 to because it doesnt do anything but i tell him it still has stopping power from a sensible range i dont know why he thinks like that but whatever i gotta say imma get that Ruger next
I found a guy on armslist hurting for money. It was brand new in box impulse buy he could not afford. Got it for 300. Yet to shoot it though because I do not wanna shoot my reserve of .22lr ammo untill shelves start getting restocked. I feel ruger by far makes the best .22lr pistols of all the gun manufatures. All of them seem to work well, minus the occasional lemon.
Do it you wont regret it, I have put 1500 rounds (bulk ammo through CCI's) and not a single failure...well once I cleaned it after buying it, it was full of packing grease and had several failures, and didn't clean it before my first time out with it,but once cleaned it has been flawless! and you don't need CCI's, bulk pack works just fine & get yourself an extra magazine and a Hilljak speed loader off of Amazon and you are good to go...I have been to the range 3 times and shot about 450 rounds and still haven't cleaned it and its shooting just fine, try that with any other 22lr pistol!
great. I have a SR I got back in Nov. for the appropriate price of 309. Glad I did! It has shot very well with about 400+ rounds. About 5 failures-maybe mag issue (2nd round each time out of mag) I was curious about this compared to the Walther (my cousin just got the new Q model) he said he couldn't find a SR for a decent price. I like that Ruger gives 2 mags. Don't like Ruger Autos, like 10/22 big time...and glad to have a ruger 22 set.lol. I'm anxious to shoot both & see difference
A lot of dead people would disagree with 22 not doing anything.
NeverEnuffAmmo My Dad said that about Makarov, 9x18 “Ask the dead that were shot by it how ineffective it was”
Good review; thank you. I paid high 300$s for mine at a local gun store.. worth it. Love this little gun.
I conceal carry mine. When I wear my Duluth trading company trousers with side pockets. This firearm fits nicely in the side pocket comfortably.
Yeah I have to agree, a good 22 is a good thing to have, especially right now
I bought a Ruger SR22 right before Christmas and absolutely love it!
I got mine last year. To date, not one issue. I still love this gun as much now as the day it got it.
Thanks for the well articulated review. Local store has these on sale for $299.00 and the wife wants one.
I picked mine up for $329 got a steal on this. Best .22 semi handgun I have shot. No ammo issues besides some sub sonic stuff. Anything normal velocity or greater is fine. I highly recommend for a great starter handgun or even just a fun plinking gun.
I love 'em, they've been the best 22'r I've shot in any of my 22's
I bought one for a fun/range gun. I hate all the safety features. But love the gun over all. It has been flawless with everything I have put through it.
Not a ruger fan?? Thats were u lost me. Ruger makes guns that most people can afford ., with THE BEST cutomer service in the industry!
Best quality. Ruger guns are made like tanks could run over them.
The Train
I concur top notch customer service. Great little shooter. Good carry gun to with quality ammo.
The Train Ruger has the best 22 pistols around. Lol their rifles are top notch as well. I’m a huge fan of Ruger.
Don't forget made in America...
I bought my SR22 about a year ago and paid $349. I recently seen it on line for the same price but with the laser. If you're not in a rush to get one shop for the one with the laser a $129. savings.
What a great review, and a very articulate reviewer.
I was fortunate enough to pick one up 2 days after Ruger released it to the public in January of 2012. I have put close to 3000 rounds through it. Absolutely zero problems with the pistol itself. Yeah this just feels like a better version of the P22 to me
Absolutely love the sr22. Eats everything and surprisingly accurate.
Yup, its definitely is like a better P22
Love this gun, wish Ruger made their SR9 in DA/SA. I'm finding it tough to find a quality, cheaper DA/SA 9mm. Plus I like that it's American made.
SIg Sauer P2022
Great Review !! Have a SR9 Ruger 9 MM and love it... Will now be purchasing the 22lr....Thanks for the review !!!
Hey Matt, nice review!!! My Ruger SR22 cost me $319.00 in Dec. 2012 and it feeds anything that I put into it. It feels good, shoots good. No complaints here. It will be a keeper for me. After shooting mine he told me that He wished that he had the Ruger instead. Hey take care Matt and keep up the good vids.
I shot over 200 rounds through it in 2 trips to the range and everything I shot was cheap ammo and never had a single malfunction
I paid 185.00 for mine that I got from a friend. I love it so far!
Lucky find!
I think I am addicted to guns, so many good one's
I purchased one a year ago for $350. My family and I have put about 2,500 rounds through it without any malfunction caused by the pistol. There has been a few failure to feeds but that was due modtly to the ammo. Great little gun. My one complaint is the rear site. Hopefully Ruger will come out with an after market alternative.
The single action is really nice
Thanks for the video, love your stuff! I got mine in November for $299 In MA. I love it! It's only $20 more now. Fun to shoot, cheap to shoot.
Well you're always welcome here brother
We have an SR22, at this point probably 1500+ rounds through it. I can count the misfeeds on one hand. I feel 22's are a GREAT training tool. Sight aquisition / alignment, etc without the cost of shooting centerfire rounds. Great pistol for introducing new shooters too. I highly recommend this pistol.
I have this gun, it's a great gun. It doesn't "look" or "feel" like a .22 which is a good thing IMO.
I got one of those about 5 months ago for about $335, great little pistol.
Yeah the mag safety is a pain but it shouldn't be too hard to remove or modify
Agreed, its a great pistol
How hard is it to field strip? Is it as easy as full sized Rugers, Or a pain in the butt like a Hipoint? Thanks for the vid, stay safe.
Nice review, subbed. I was looking at the ISSC M22 today, but I think I'll hold out for the SR22. I've been blowing through hundreds in 9mm ammo lately, that was the selling point for a green light from the wife for a .22 LR.
The only thing it needs now , is a threaded barrel. I love Ruger pistols. I just bought a vaquero that I will be sharing more of on yt.
$340 last month with the threaded barrel. It has a magazine disconect too. Those mags are very expensive considering how tiny they are and have not found any in a store yet, only online.
I hope they do, but 22 mag semiautos tend to be very picky
I have two of these. One operates great and the other had some minor issues. I found that when I shaved the plastic that pushes the rounds up out of the magazine it help. Just shave at the projectile end and not at the rim end. I went from 0 at the rim end to about 1 mm taken off the projectile end.
I got one of the first P22's before their popularity took off and quality control went down and never had a problem with any ammo I fed it
I love that gun, I've bought 2 of 'em. Their great guns
Awesome pistol. I picked mine up for 289 new but most places are around me are 329. Cool video I might consider buying one if I can ever find it. All I have seen at Cabelas here in AZ are sig 1911 22s.
It's very simple. Lock the slide back and inside the trigger guard there is a little tab that you pull down. Once that's down all you have to do is lift up the back end of the slide off the frame and slide it forward. Easy peasy.
Great review matt,That pistol is going on bucket list.
It'll make a nice addition to the SR9
great little pistol. Remember this is a review of the pistol not the round. I have not had any ftf fte. I used old .22 ammo all kinds no problems. It does what it was made to do.
Told you that you would like the SR22 it shoots great.
Yup, its a great gun
Glad ya liked it

Tigers are great little guns :) all I own from this to my cowboy action gun are all Rugers!
Enjoyed the video, Matt!
This is the gun that Walther should have made in the first place...
I'm sold! Looks great, very positive review.
Yeah it would be a great trainer
its been along time since i picked up a pistol that i was excited about ,i really like shooting mine ,im left handed so it adds that little extra ,i might add it also has an easy take down for cleaning ,of course the picitiny rail ,and that little serated place on the trigger tang to rest your finger ,and i think i told you before mine also came with a threaded barrel and adapter and wrench to put a silencer on it ,its almost like they were designing a car with all the comforts they could put on

Yeah it does have a rail on it. It'd be a good choice for a BOB gun
Good review as always. I would like to see more reviews.

Yeah, I'd love to get the info to check it out
I bought one of these at a gun show last weekend. Paid $330 + tax.
I had to send it back to the factory because it had a defective right side decocker.
Hopefully Ruger will make it right.
I really like mine too... I traded an XD9 for and SR22 and a Bersa Thunder 380....
Yeah I like the ISSC but it has some reliability issues so I definitely prefer the Ruger.
Thats 4 the sub
Yeah 11 rounds of 22 will screw up someone's day for sure
6/01/19 I'm a late comer to your channel. I enjoyed this quick, no dragged out review. Overpaid for mine. $379 Bud's Gun Shop. A fine little shooter. I like to feed it Federal Champion Bulk Pack. Subscribed.
They're a lot of fun

Yeah I know what ya mean, 22 is hard to find right now

I definitely know the feeling
Very true
i looked at a new one yesterday and the barrel wasent threaded ,and i bought mine last month and it was ,he informed me that there making them both with and with out threaded barrels
Thank 4 watching
Yeah I expect similar results from this one
These are $299 at my local gun shop, and have been for months. I've been on the fence about this particular gun. I wish the magazine capacity was more.
Agreed
Yeah its a good gun
I had one, had to sell it. But I want it again. Its $309-$339 in my area. It is a very reliable 22.
i wanna get one for my wife for the range but i gotta wait til/if the price's comes down. thx for the review!
gotta say i want that Ruger i have a friend that says its not worth it to buy a 22 to because it doesnt do anything but i tell him it still has stopping power from a sensible range i dont know why he thinks like that but whatever i gotta say imma get that Ruger next
Awesome overview!
Yup, me too
Yup
grat on ur 22, I got mine 3 day ago for 415, mine have a thread barrel with
Thanks for the review. Ive been dieing to go buy one.
