- Lucy takes a walk up the Yellow Brick road
Benidorm is located on the Costa Blanca, Spain. Famous for it's beaches, bars, restaurants, nightlife, entertainment, hotels, sightseeing, party atmosphere, excursions, tours and sun. It is not only one of the top holiday destinations in Spain but one of the best tourist hotspots in the whole of Europe. British and Irish tourists love to travel to Benidorm, being one of the best resorts for a package holiday, but it is also well loved by many European travellers, and of course the Spanish themselves. It is an all year round holiday resort, the good weather means there is something to offer visitors of all nationalities and ages, and you will always find things to do and places to go. On our UA-cam channel we bring you travel vlogs which show you in depth everything Benidorm has to offer. We hope you enjoy, soak up the sunshine and subscribe to our channel.

Thanks for the video Lucy. I've known about the yellow brick road for over 20 years. In those days Churchill's was really busy, they used to have some great acts on. I used to go to El Coral Del Polo every time I was in Benidorm. I was gutted when it didn't reopen after the pandemic.
I was thinking it looked a lovely area for a walk, cool and shady surrounded by those beautiful trees...then when the owner of Winnie's bar mentioned it, I can see that all that shade isnt so enticing after dark...i like her idea of fairy lights in the trees..i would think thats a fairly inexpensive way to make it not only look great at night, but to make it feel a lot safer..Benidorm seems to be constantly evolving & changing, so hopefully it wont take much longer until this area gets a bit more life in it again..
Solar lights could be used, no mains required
Enjoyed my visit to Winnie's today, just landed this morning 👍
Thanks for the video lucy be in rio park in November
yup staying at the rio park next month. love it
We are as well
That’s crazy 11€ for 3 course wow… makes you would how that can be done I hope she gets the changes she wants has we all love to see these businesses/people trying to do well and wish them all the success going forward.. I’ll honestly say I have been many times and been passed Rio park but never thought of going down to the other bars/restaurants I’ll be honest
Hi Lucy ! Thank you for the up date. We was told about it last year when we was over. It was a short cut from how hotel down to the strip and beach. Its a nice walk down. We will have to call into Winnie this time round and say hi. Thank you one again to you and your team.
We always go to Liberty in front of winnies, we love the street because we can have a break from all the busy area's. It's a great street to relax and have a drink or some food.
A bit of investment from the council and they would get it back in spades in rent and rates. They need to speculate to accumulate. Great video!
Another great video Lucy, I hope all is well over in beautiful Benidorm 👍🏻
Hi jake hope your day is going really well.
Great Video Lucy, never seen this area before. Thanks 😊
We are staying in the Rio Park and walk the yellow brick road most mornings too Jumping Jacks for a coffee .
We are over in january and will give winnies a try and pop in winners to say hello keep the videos comming lucy they keep our spirits up
The cats outside the Rio Park (where we stayed a couple of weeks ago) are so cute! Everyone looks after them wonderfully
I'm now feeding the cat at the Paraiso 10 apartments 🐾
Another great video Lucy ,cant wait to get back there again next month
OMG, what a potential that tree and grass strip has. Can imagine sitting outside a cafe along there under the shade of a lovely tree and enjoying it for its fairly unique natural charm. A little infrastructure investment would get paid back quickly by new businesses springing up.
thank you lucy for creating awarness. lot's of potencials. first a a couple water fountains, seating benches and all the recommendation by the locals. they all sounded very good.
That road used to lead to the fair that was there back in the 80's. I miss the old benidorm 😢
When i get over next year i will look for all these places and go and eat and have a coffee .Just to help the yellow brick business back up to what they use to be like keep save and keep smiling
Nice one Lucy. Hopefully the Alcalde will see it
Stayed at rio park a few times we used to go in Joanne's bar just around the corner never had any problems going up and down the yellow brick road on a evening
Remember the duke of York. Going back 25 years now. Also i remember going to el corral more than once when my mother visited.. she refused to try spanish food and always had chicken and chips so place suited her !
I've been there a few times when we visited Rio Park.
was there in september the Dark area of yellow brick road real puts off walking back from Rockstar to Rio park at 11pm at night !
I’m a Benidorm virgin and my first holiday there is booked in November, what is the sandos Monaco hotel like also how many minutes walk is it to be in the centre of everywhere from the hotel, hope you don’t mind me asking on here.
Many thanks xx
Sandos Monaco has a great reputation, not been in it myself yet. Its about 15 min walk to centre of New Town, 10 mins to Old town and less than 5 to Winners Bar, see you there hehe
@@LucyYoungTBE thank you xx
I’ve never found it but I think they should brand it by actually painting it yellow and marketing it properly it looks super cute but does need work ❤️⭐️
Hi Lucy, Yellow brick road has a bad rep as being a bit dodgy at night very dark and creepy if your going after clubs etc.
Especially if u've had a skinfull 😅😂
How strange, just put a post on Benidorm Enthusiast page then next min got this notification for your new video 😂
Intresting name yellow brick Road.
HI LUCY, walked it with some COURAGE and I'm not LYON !
Always use that road when staying at Rio Park, never had a problem on it, day or night, used to have a drink at the Duke of York (where Easy Hire is now, I think) then a bar called the Doonhammers, its down fall begain when that safely fance was put up for that huge building, be over in a few weeks time to walk down it again, to "Winners Bar"
i remember Duke Of York, was a good little bar. see you soon luv 👍
What lovely trees, but agree what's the point of having lights hidden by them, the bushes really do need to b e cleared. I will check this place out again when im next in town. Cheers
That road is so beautiful 🥰
The road looks lovely and scenic .
I use the Yellow Brick Road regularly when I’m there, too get too Helen’s Bar on Calle Levantine, or back up too The Soul Bar, and Pueblo Hotel where I stay regularly when I’m there, a little bit apprehensive at night, always mean too pop into Winnie’s but not made it yet, I’m over in ten days, give it a try then
i spend most of my time at the terrace bar..great food, great quiz 3 times a week
It sounded really enjoyable.
I have stayed at the Rio Park, many times and used the yellow brick road very often over the years, mostly during the day to get to the beach front, tis a lovely walk up and down, perfect for exercise, to walk off all that delicious food the Rio Park provides 2 or 3 mealtimes every day. Though i have never had any real bother on this path, it can be a bit daunting walking back up the hill after a night in the square. I was approached by some young ladies, a little way down from my hotel, and though offering a free service (quite rude service) you then find they are working together as pickpockets, and while one is performing her service for free, one of her partners in crime is busying herself through ya pockets,Lucky for me i dont carry lots of cash, so that was more of a nuisance really, i was ok with 5 euro being almost lifted, and she did stop picking my pockets when i firmly told her "NO!" to which they said their goodbyes, and i went off to bed. No harm occured, and i would still visit Benidorm, when i get the chance(cos i love the place) now that most of this Covid malarkey has been and gone. Hi Lucy, keep it up girl xx
Yep l used to see them women knocking around , don't think they were Spanish tho Daren.
@@jimmydempsey6857 No, i think not. Usually it was the Romanians that were best known for scamming out a living in Benidorm, tho i do know some legally hard working ones too.
@@darendrury6591 I got told they were pick pockets.
@@jimmydempsey6857 One would be picking your pockets, while one of her pretty accomplices, kept you busy and distracted by giving you oral sex, so i guess they assumed "Hey Mister, ya gotta pay" even if you didnt even want a blow job in the first place. Its a living for them,i suppose?!
@@darendrury6591 😂🤣😅😃😄
Que arreglen es bonita avenida ,por favor
Nice area but a no go at night time.
Is the shopping centre there still open? Also, a few roads down but do you know if the Spice Of Life on Avenida del Doctor Orts Llorca will reopen, India Gate is round the corner so I can go there which is nice as well as Curry Leaf the other end next to Ave Del Mediterraneo🍛
looks like it could definitely be a stunning area with a bit of TLC can the buisness owners that are there along with the hotels get together and meet with the council , surely getting them to do something would benefit everyone
Intresting name for the street but the weather looks buitiful.
Hi Lucy, great video!!.. we will be staying at the Castilla hotel, can we walk into the Old town at night without using that pathway, and how long would it take ? Thankyou.
Walked up and down the yellow brick road nearly every weekend. Plus, the Rio Park hotel was the first one we stayed at when we went over to do the Benidorm half marathon. Since then we bought a small apartment a few kilometres north of there, near Calpé. We went into Benidorm at the weekend to watch the footie! Sadly, my husband Malcolm died in 2012, and I’ve not been back as often as I’d have liked. Fond memories though.
Edit: Ha ha! "Food" memories? "Good" memories! But yes good memories of food too!!! 😁
Is the Cheap n' Cheerful still going Lucy?
Yes 👍😁
Were in benidorm in june for 1st time, were staying at the maryciel apartments, whats it like walking back to there at night from the strip etc, is this what they call muggers alley, thanks
Hello Lucy, that area is absolutely beautiful and if the people are concerned about feeling even safer, LED lighting technology is a lot brighter and very cheap to maintain.
We always knew at over the years as the Wibbly Wobbly... never heard it called Yellow Brick rd
Judy Garlands up there hiding in the bushes !
that tree with the roots showing wouldnt go near it at nite the amount of people piss and shit on it is disgusting
Winners Bar, did that or was that at one time the Doonhammers Bar, the nickname of a Scottish football club, Queen of the South (I think) from Dumfries ?
Hi Lucy Tam from Bathgate here never been up that area for ages but years ago we used to go into the chicken restaurant and a small bar to let the kids play pool on the yellow brick Road can't remember it's name 😀
It is a shame about the so called Yellow brick road, walked its length 4 years ago...all rather tatty. With a little TLC this could be a real tourist attraction, as much as i enjoy Benidorm there really is a lack of Greenery / Park area. I'm sure somebody is missing a trick here. All the best Lucy.
Totally agree 👍
Lucy..we were there 4hrs ago..
I almost get robbed on that road, no save place to be at night!
Lucy could you do a walk from Rio Park down to maybe the Ambassador but no going down Yellow Brick Rd. Thinking of staying in Rio next year and I can see that the YBR would be a bit scary in the dark. Would like to see what bars are around that area xx
Hiya Lucy, on your Yellow brick road vlog, Me and My Dad were walking past with our striped Black and White Newcastle shirts on, its 7.29 in the vlog, I hope the police and the council does something about the crime on Yellow Brick Road, maybe a stronger police presence, the last thing Benidorm needs is People going home saying they've been mugged or pick pocketed, it'll put people off going to Benidorm, I hope the business's pick up next summer on the Yellow Brick Road, but we'll have to wait and see
Cutting the tree and removing the hedges sounds like a terrible idea sitting on my toilet in Vauxhall London but what do I know😂
its actually starting to damage the roofs of some of the bars now. and dont forget to wipe
No mention of the bourbon bar ?
Bourbon Bar has gone, all closed up
@@benidormstuff3337 good lord ! I think they had another bar on Avenida europa
For all the ones who talk about mugging in this area , i´ve just come back from Benidorm and i haven´t saw so many police in any other city. I mean , every half an hour a police car around .... I think Benidorm is safest than any British city. That´s my guess.
I've heard it called Muggers Alley.
Yeah it had a bad rep years ago as mentioned on the video, doesn't deserve that nickname anymore in my opinion.
Muggers/Pickpockets don't tend to hide in the bushes this day in age. They're in plain sight using their trickery to dip your pockets and your phone without you even noticing.
Another dodgy spot used to be opposite the Black Chicken 🥴
Still looks tatty but a good walk to do.
Great content as usual Lucy but your camera lens is obviously still faulty (your camera person firstly said it was a fingerprint, then stated it had been dropped) as the focusing around your face is not sharp. I hope you can resolve the issue, and I appreciate it will be a costly item to repair or replace.
280 euros for a new lense, trying out today
@@benidormstuff3337 That's great news, looking forward to that video 👍
It just needs some tlc.
Its changed since I stayed at the Rio Park about 12 yrs ago. I remember rats and stray cats all over the place 😆😆
Pray politicians suffer the worst karma possible
Myself and my Mrs with 3 of my kids was going to buy a business on the yellow brick road a year before the pandemic hit but the area and it's reputation for muggings put us off it's a shame as it does have lots of potential
A big part of the problem in that area is the ,,Waterwheel stopping centre ,it has never been a success from day one .I worked in Benidorm in the 80,s and it was a disaster then and it never got any better! The council needs to get it demolished and developed as soon as possible it really lets the area down I preferd it when it was a fig tree orchard.
Yes i agree, that precinct has never done anything
I've never heard of this Waterwheel centre, where is it?
@@anonnanoo9586 at the start of the video on the opposite side of the yellow brick road to Rockstar, its there where the Terrace bar is and runs along to the Avenida Europa. We'll do a video on it soon 👍
Hv you lobbied your local councillors for improvements?
business owners and some of the local residents are constantly on the case
Booked the Rio Park for March 24 and then saw this video 🫤 can anyone confirm there are other well lit streets we can get to the strip etc at night without using this path ? The thought of walking up here at two o’clock in the morning makes me very nervous !!!
