I would love to see a THAT PEDAL SHOW episode with you Pete.
You have a ton of experience as a gigging musician to impart. Love your videos
Yes! I'll settle for this mini-crossover instead.
So glad you did this video. Once a guitarist hears their fx in parrelel..there is no going back. It's sooo much better.
That lead , WOW! Stellar playing Pete!!
Wow Pete - You have the device perfectly well set and correctly described what the application is about. Your sound is very direct and unadulterated - the best you can imagine. Thank you
Shouts out to everyone else watching this with headphones on, that had an eargasm when Pete engaged The Wetter Box!
Brilliant demo Pete
Just like the mesa parallel fx loop on the 2ch rectifier (that everyone hated...). But cool box, very usefull
This is a really cool idea
I liked it.
Wetter is a "eingetragenes Warenzeichen" from grrman langewich😉👍🎸🎶😁
What a cool Gadget!!! Great Vid PT!!!!
I love it!
Wow!!! What a great sound !!!!
Love the opening demo, sounds like petrucci to my ear 😁
Well now that could come in handy for ambient tones with a ton of modulation efx and keep things from washing out 🤘🏽
This is incredible! I need an H9 immediately (then I might get this nifty wetter box thingy too...😂🎸)
Always amazing tunes and reviews. 🎸🎸🎸
Epic music Pete. EPIC! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I usually hate fuzz and barely tolerate phaser, but damn if that tone didn't sound huge in the mix. 🤘 If I'd come in a minute later I'd have assumed that was a classic analog synth.
I don't need it.....I don't need it.....I don't need it.......
I NEEEEEEED IT!!!!!!
Pete, great video and truly awesome sounds. Its cool how that giant fuzz space warp tone inspired that chord progression.
ONE REQUEST...and I'm not sure if Daniel is going to have to float you a few more pounds for this (I'm sure you would make it worth it)...could you PLEASE show the wetter box with overdrive AND distortion/fuzz pedals blended together? In my switching system that allows parallel routing of fx, if I try to use that parallel option with drive pedals, there is a phasing issue and instead of getting both tones together for a jaw dropping monster tone, I get a thinner uninspiring one. Is it possible for the Wetter Box to "fix" this problem? Thanks!!!
I do like a wet box
Moist & Glistening brother - No other way !!!
This one's wetter...
Add the Seymour Duncan Dark Sun instead of the boss reverb and you could probably create a multi-platinum song?
Parallell loopers are great tools for bass players, but this one lacks two features I'd want on my bass board: Clean signal blend, and the ability to turn each loop on and off independently. The expression input is a great touch though, as well as the stereo loops, for those who need that.
I think it does have the clean signal blend you’re looking for though?
@@PeteThorn Maybe... Which knob would control it though? The big knob is mix between loop 1 and 2, and the two small ones are gain for each loop, right?
Cool unit for sure though!
Eskil leave a loop empty and that becomes your clean signal :)
It's not really untouched, it will be at least buffered so that it can be sampled by the pedal and sent to your other effects. So you will be going through at least one more buffer (which is usually a good thing but vintage blues guys may not like that)
sampled is not the correct term
sounds great! for now I'm gonna have to survive using my time based pedals on the FX Loop of my Katana amp using the Parallel routing option... but it doesn't sound like this :)
I want a multieffect with analog dry volume !
Would like more info on how many pedal in parallel you cn use eg: delay, reverb, delay into B and maybe phaser and flanger or fuzz in A?
Try it with bass and distortion pedal?
Hi, so with that single input jack, is that just mono for guitars or can I plug in a stereo jack there too?
Would you need this if your amp has a parallel loop?
I'm going to go broke watching your vids!!! But, what a way to go broke! LOL!!!
Pink Floyd..ish....cool
Many time-based effects, e.g. delays and reverbs, don't digitize the entire signal, there's a dry path that stays analog. That's even true of inexpensive pedals like the Boss RV-6 or the TC Flashback. The H9 does digitize the entire signal, as it must to create certain effects, like Tremolo (and you probably wouldn't want tremolo in a parallel loop anyway). Regardless, it's pretty questionable whether or not players can even tell if the entire signal has been digitized by any pedal with quality A/D conversion (most of them nowadays, e.g. the H9 or a Line 6 Stomp FX). While there are uses for a variable parallel loop, "cleaning up digital-ness" is likely not a great justification for adding in this pedal for most of us.
Perhaps but I think there are a fair bit of players, myself included, who enjoy the way a wet/dry rig feels yet don’t have the means to gig with such rig. Having the option to keep that dry signal straight is really important for me as when I hit the note I want that initial attack. I do notice this with the h9 and hx effects and even my neo vent. That’s just me though so I’ll likely incorporate something like this into my rig
respectfully, i play professionally and Hate all multifx units out there for this very reason. They all suck life out of my sound. Only in parrelel could I get my punch back. And I would never had discovered the source of the problem had I not A/B'd my rig in various ways. So ..yes, I agree many will not know how much they are losing (in tone) because they wont go thru the trouble. But I did, and I can tell you..its a significant difference. For a bedroom player..no big deal...but if you gig alot..it's really worth checking out.
@@georgebarry3153 Respectfully, I also play professionally, and while I agree with what your saying with regard to most older multi-effect units, I've been gigging with a Helix, used as a stand-alone pedal board for a tube amp, and it doesn't suck anything out of my tone. I've compared it directly to analog pedals and there's no difference -- in terms of tone suck (and that's when using a good buffer ahead of the analog pedals). And, in a (high-volume) band mix is when any minimal differences, if there are any, matter least. It's the bedroom-only cork sniffers who spend a lot of time worrying about 1% tone suck and comparisons among patch cables, etc. Which mutli-effect units have you used?
@@joebarkan I demoed the Helix , and have heard others play thru it. Very good, but not perfect, yet (imho). For the cost I can't justify it. Maybe there next gen of Helix, we will see. Also, respectfully at high volume is where I hear the fail. bedroom volumes lie. When playing against a rhythym section I can feel any latency..and any lack of resolution in the signal. And the lack of dynamics..or the nature of the dynamics. I am NOT a cork sniffers (I dislike them). I just find my analog gear STILL wins..but to each their own.
So maybe someone can explain to me...when your digital reverb or delay or whatever has a mix knob and assuming it is an analog mix circuit, what would be the purpose of this device?
Niiiice!
how does it solve the issue of parallel fx loops like those in mesa's. most change their fx loops to series to accept the digital effects. I gave up with my mesa's fx loop which didn't give me the nice reverb I like un coloured by the pre-amp, which series would do. lucky reverb was at the bottom of list for my needs in a rock cover band.
If I only use analogue effects, does this unit provide any advantages? Does it reduce background hiss, for instance?
So how does this compare to a multi effects unit running into an amp using the 4 cable method?
Dumb question, maybe. Isn’t this exactly the same as a parallel fx loop and volume pedal after the wet effects?
Pretty close, yes.
You have to be able to switch off or turn off the dry thru or you can/will get phase problems right?
It’s got a phase switch on also that should cure any phasing issues, I believe.
@@MrNeilfatmonkey That's assuming that within the signal chain the phase is shifted by a multiple of 180 degrees, which with any sort of signal delay like AD-DA conversion isn't the case.
EVERY H9 SHOULD COME WITH ONE, SO YOUR TONE..............WELL YOU KNOW!
Does any other company make one of these? The name is ridiculously stupid I don’t want one on my pedal board.
Oh man this pedal will literally wet her box
I’m going to wait for the Chinese companies to rip this off. It will Instead be called “The Litter Box”.
5am, Just about to go to bed. Pete uploads a vid. lol
Guess I can stay up for another 10 minutes. :)
That intro was killer...thanks Pete
Jesus that opening fuzz tone was massive and the leads were spectacular. So wondering how to patch this for a w/d/w rig to get that spread for the massive part. Very cool pedal.
Adds in the H9. Fudging fernackerpants.
So it's like wet/dry with two amps, but with one amp?
No
It’s a pretty good approximation
Basically yes
So, basically, this is similar to running the effects through an aux on a mixer while keeping your main signal intact. But without the mixer. Very clever idea.
Nice to see a great product made by a smart guy in UK and demoed by a great guitar player like Pete in USA! awesome, awesome, awesome!!
Hi Pete, I'm a little late to the Wetter Box party. Absolutely love your tone in this vid! I recently purchased the Wetterbox and hooked it up to my H9 and Gigrig G2 into my amp FX loop. I've followed the correct routing instructions but I'm getting no signal through my amp? (Actually it's just a whisper quiet signal with no effects). Would you have any idea what I'm doing wrong?
Very Alan Parsons type song Pete. Your mix on the beginning introducing fuzz, phase, etc sounded exactly like Gilmours Sorrow intro.....nice.
Quick Question: How comparable would my Boss ES8 parrallel routing be to this? Even though I am happy with the AD conversion on my H9 I notice more coloration with my Source Audio Nemesis. (Funny thing last night during rehearsal I was frustrated with my sound. Every time I engaged the SA the tone went weedy and dropped. Sure enough I had it patched parallel accidentally but not 100% wet of course so was getting all that gnarly phase cancellation etc. Whew! Fixed that and back to good tone,)
your videos cost me a lot of money DUDE!!!!! ;;;) Now iam gonna have to one Wetter box..... (on other side my girlfriend will be not so wet about the fact)
I'm pretty sure my Hughes & Kettner triump has that built in. My Fender bassbreaker 15 has the worst effects Loop ever. It's unusable. The effects running through my Hughes & Kettner effects Loop sounds so good it puts a smile on your face but the amp 95 lb and I don't like the distortion on it. Still can't find a gig rig that I love that does everything I need it to do.
HEY PETE ! id like to purchase some of the Suhr stuff you endorse. also would you ever consider copying your helix to mine? not sure how we would go about it. it would save me a million years. $$$$$$
Sounds like the Miami vice soundtrack...
Thank you Pete for the demo*
👍🏻
Question: Doesn't Strymon gear like Big Sky and Timeline have an analog dry through path? Wouldn't that accomplish a mix like this within the box?
Carmelo Santini I was wondering the same thing
@@AlVixan I mean... I understand they're totally different, but if most people use strymon in effects loop and it has an analog dry through then maybe it does the same thing already. I still like the Wetter box I just wanted to point that out and ask the question... not sure if Pete replies to comments... maybe someone can chime in
I saw Dan's video this morning, but you really made it shine even more... :0) Smoke'n
Can someone explain the difference between this and the OBNE Signal Blender?
That first jam was freak'n awesome... Loved that distant powerdrive sound... ☺️
0:37 Hell yeah.
Guess I'll have to get myself a fuzz and a phaser, at least.
Thanx Pete!
Don’t forget the wetter box
1:21 This is track #5 from Pete Thorn III, right? SO GOOD.
Great demo Pete! That is such a great idea! Dan is the MAN!!
Heya Shawn!
@@PeteThorn Hey Pete! Hope you're doing good man!
How is using the wetter box different from simply turning the fx knob on the fx pedal?
For crying out loud. That demo you made for this is AWESOME
this is nothing but a looper pedal with a blen knob guys. been doin this for years. an theres a trick you can do with a effects unit if it has a effects send retern that does this. used to have a boss gt5 with this wiriung an it was endless the things you could do
Is this a viable solution to adding dry back a pedal solution that does not have analog dry thru?
If Pete demonstrated knitting needles, I would buy a pair.
There are a handful of decent mixer pedals out there, but I'd bet money that none of them are higher quality than the Wetter Box. Still, if you're looking, you might want to check out all the features before you decide. The Radial Mix-Blender, the Red Panda Mixer, One Control Mosquito Blender , and Lehle Parallel series pedals all do the same job, but all have different features. Still, I think the Wetter Box wins on feature, size and price that most players will want, including stereo operation.
Are any of those stereo? Thanks
@@shckltnebay No, that's one thing in favour of the Wetter Box, and it cleverly saves room by using TRS for the stereo loops.
Xotic Stereo Blender
@@joedave3483 $300 used LOL
Some effects like tc electronic Flashback and Arena (among others) already have the analog parallel path integrated.
Glad you brought that up. I was just wondering what devices do keep the analog parallel path for mixing the processed signal back in.
I guess the H9 is not one of them?
Thanks so much for the demo! I've been using Marshall 30th Anniversary heads mainly due to the parallel effects loop. This box is going to allow me to use some of my other cool amps on the road which sat at home before. Very excited to use it this weekend, sounds amazing!
More pedal on a shorter train. As usual I have been doing it the hard way.
The big joke around here is that after I rig a few hundreds or thousands worth of complications together I always discover "they make a pedal for that."
No single review let us know the routing when Wetter Box is turned off...
This circuit was designed by the guys at guitarpcb about 10 years ago and is still on their site, it's called the Paramix.
Most all boutique pedals have their roots in the DIY comminity.
My favorite demo song thus far...that solo and lead tone were sick
44 seconds into this and I need to have one.
Appears to be an excellent method for adding studio style control of your dry signal in a live setting. Brilliant stuff.
the new secret weapon awesome pedal. great demo awesome playing. Thanks a must have
Haha, that sinister look hitting the first chord!
Oh oh how do I explain this one. But I need it honey.
You should try daredevil pedals dirty delay
The big 80"s rack rigs did the same thing with Rane spliters.
Yeah, and this ISN'T a big ol rack to lug around. Very neat pedal
Dan is a fucking GENIUS!
You can also do this with a boss ls2 dont you?
Cool, I'll have to give it a test drive.
0:38 terminator sound track
That's really cool...The jam you did sounds like a really bad ass synth..I have a Carvin V3 head that has 2 effects loops 1 series and 1 parallel. Kind of does the same thing..Nice little box..I always love the pure sound of my amps..cool solution! Thanks for the great video!
I wish all the success in the world for Dan, he's a great guy, but I'm tired of spending money and so much time on freaking effect boxes and stuff like that. I remember when a comp, chorus, and delay was all you needed. That along with a 2 channel amp, one for rhythm and one for lead and you were good to go. More time to practice what really counted, playing the guitar! Just seems like now a day's I spend way too much time on finding the lost tone. I think I'm gonna start spending more time playing guitar and worrying about the tone coming out of my fingers. Spending way too much time and money on gimmicks. No freaking boxes are gonna take the place of talent but a lot of people think they will. All you tone seekers keep seeking, I'm going back to playing my guitar. Good luck, and nice video Pete.
Thanks Pete for these video ! I was thinking of using the wetter box for blending true unprocessed signal with HX stomp effects, I was searching that video on that pedal show thinking that Daniel coverded the subject of pedals without analog dry through and the wetter box as a solution to this but no, that was your video that I had in mind, Thanks !
I will buy one and use more of my 100% digital units now, stay safe,
Léo
What's the difference between this and a traditional wet dry rig with 2 amps? This seems like a much cheaper option, so I'm curious.
This just allows you to have an analog dry path Within one amplifier
@@PeteThorn Thanks, got it, but is there any difference in tone between this wetter box vs the 2 amp wet dry setup?
Now that is a kick ass box.
If you take this box with a fully wet vibrato pedal..does that mean it comes out chorus if youre blending in clean tone? Chorus is vibrato with the dry signal still running through the middle of the wave
Is Dan in trouble?
Thanks a lot Pete...now I have to explain why I need yet another piece of essential gear to my wife who doesn’t understand why every piece of guitar gear I own is essential...THANK YOU for showing us this amazing pedal...this is a game changer...🎸🔊🎶🤘🏻
Wow. That intro was just incredible! So Pete, what would you recommend? Using the gain channel or using the clean channel and a distortion pedal. FYI, I recently got hold of a Blackstar HT Stage 100. Used an old H||H IC100S before that.
Dude.
That tone is insane. 🤯
:) thanks
Damn! Epic track at the beginning, I love those fuzzy sustained chords with phaser...
So can I achieve the same results with my Suhr Hedgehog effects loop in "Mix" mode (parallel) and my delay/reverb set to 100% wet?
