I was in a garage band when this album came out in 1978. NO ONE was doing anything even close to this at that time. EVH was a phenominon. Everyone stood around in circles saying "What am I doing, I can't do anything like this". He changed rock guitar forever.

Fantastic Eddie ! Entre son jeu fougueux et fantasque, son feeling, sa technique incroyable, surtout à l'époque et sa présence scénique, ce gars était un extraterrestre... et quel son, en plus ! quand on pense que c'était en 1978. Quel Génie ce gars !
great regret of my life, not seeing this when I was young. The presence of Dave and Eddie jammin at the same time wow, must have been just a phenomenal event
I remember my brother coming home from seeing them with an album in his hand saying you got to hear this! He's only 16, then proceeded to beat the sh out a some jerk that abused our mom. I love my brother.

Eddie always said he ruined the sound of the shark by cutting it up but I don't hear any difference between that & his strat. It must have been a very subtle difference that really only he could tell.
The tried up part for this solo was that That Eddie and his brother Alex was just warning up practicing and didn't know that it was recording while they were just warming up I could only imagine how they felt when they found out they were being recorded by mistake 😢😢
Wow why did Eddie use a different guitar when he started playing you really got me I Guess in 1978 Guitar s didn't have great quality like guitar s used now maybe Eddie popped some guitar strings when he did that great solo eruption he probably told his guitar roadie have my back up guitar ready for me after I do the guitar solo eruption because I would probably pop some guitar strings after playing eruption solo and he did notice how fast Eddie's guitar roadie gave him a different guitar after he got finished playing the eruption solo Eddie s guitar roadie probably had Eddie's second guitar tuned up and ready to jam
You really got me was recorded on the destroyer, that’s why he probably switched guitars. Or perhaps he knew his Frankie would be out of tune because of all those crazy noises he did on his solo
@@ALDJUAN yes I agree. Many people have told me Eddie is special. He is very fast and aggressive. But he seems not to have any soul or feel. I have tried all day to "get into him " but he is not my cup of tea. His attempts at Blues is genuinely embarrassing

This was Ed at his absolute best. Young and hungry for stardom. He certainly achieved it.

There are some famous guitarists claiming they were tapping before Eddie. Ok! nobody but nobody but Eddie took it to the lever he did.
For sure he did. I mean there was players tapping before there was rock music.
The first guy I saw tap was a Steve Hackett of Genesis.

A very rare sighting of the Frankenstrat telecaster body with the black pick guard and without the red paint.
This is amazing. He took so much from Blackmore. To bad Blackmore was rude to him. Speed King intro that came out about 10 years before.
he was 50 years ahead of Blackmore. not even worthy of tying Eddie's shoelaces.

It was by design - he always switched them out like that - the Shark guitar was plugged into a completely separate rig of amps
Van Halen had to modify his guitar try Gary Richraft flying turkey trot live REO Speed wagon guitar solo no modified guitar
