Cool! It's an EVH kinda day off! I'm still jamming with the harmonics video (which somehow got me down the "I'm the one" rabbit hole) and I'm pumped about this video. I've half way played this but never took it seriously. It'll be good to get this one down. Thanks Marty!
Hey Marty I do have a question though. I know you have a Frankie Guitar, and many other super Stratz. Was curious as to why you chose the Les Paul for this lesson. Is it scale length? Easier to bend?
He sure did! The Kinks version is cool but lord it’s embarrassing to hear their guitar solo when you have the mighty EVH solo in comparison. He was on fire man. 😎🤟🏻
Marty your on fire brother! Another superb video . Your playing is off both the hook and the chain as is the tone, excellent tutorial....Again . I learned a lot. Thanks so much!👍🎸
Awesome job brother 🤘you have a great ear! I always pick stuff up from your videos and painfully realize that I have been playing some of these riffs wrong for years !!! Lol! The little stuff like pinch harmonics in beginning LMAO.. great job 🤘🤘

@@christerrio8108 I can only imagine! I remember when Eddie used metal picks around the III era. I thought they sounded harsh or shrill. I need my picks to have some give. Tortex yellow mediums for me. 😁
Great lesson 😎🤘🏻 I’d love to see you do a lesson on these Band-Maid songs at some point. From Now on, Domination, Onset, Dice, Sayonakidori, Chemical Reaction, Reincarnation, Time, And Influencer.
I do not! I have contemplated getting one but haven’t been able to justify it. Made an unshark guitar build. Basically an explorer body with the same paint scheme…. But no cut out. You may have seen the video in my channel?? Anyways… if I can find a great deal on one I may snag it. 🙌
I’ll say it again, your lessons are the best ! It’s literally like we’re sitting down with you and you have a way to make it “easy” to follow along. How was the outdoor gig !
The tone sounds so “massive”, especially with the delay. I was wondering, is it really very loud in your studio as you play it, or does it just come across sounding that way? Whenever I try to get that tone, it ends up so loud my ears are ringing a bit when I’m done, which I’m not too crazy about.
Hey man, I record direct at a fairly low level so I don’t get too much bleed on my vocal mic. I mix it in post kinda loud. (And add a stereo delay in protools). It’s all fractal ax8 with a Friedman BE and Friedman 4x12 IRs. 😎🤟🏻. Thanks for the comment 🥂
Bro, I got one for you (about his pick) and this is NOT B.S. Always a V.H. freak and way back they played Dallas so of coarse I had front row just to see what the Hell he did. Amazing enough he walked to the stage edge (while playing) and as he went into tapping, flipped his pick into the crowd and it hit me square tn the chest then fell to the floor. Everybody around dove to the floor but I was standing on it ! Directly to my right stands a HUGE black man and used both his hands to keep me upright as the people scowerd the floor. Eventually they stood back up & this man looked at me & said "still got it" ? I nodded yes and he said "Cool". So, long story short, Live he used a medium ! and I about lost my life over 1.
That’s a great story man! So dang cool. I went to Zeke Clark’s house in Nashville years ago and he gave me one of Eddie’s 5150 picks and it was a thin. He must have changed a lot. Remember he used metal ones during III era??? 😳 lol. I can’t imagine using thins for a whole show. I hate thins. ☮️☮️
@@Ranch5150SkinWalker I remember the metal era but cant imagine "Thin" with his attack & pin-point strike. But, his pick slides would come-off better ?
My two R8’s. The one in the video and my Murphy Lab bourbon burst. I really love my EVH Frankie too. 1981 Custom is bad ass. Hard to pick one. The American Pro II strat is a great guitar too. 😎
OO you said the "A" word.... : ( Marty... you are Authentic. Real Deal rocker. Legit guy. Gibson is just marketing BS and market positioning. Dude, awsome video! Who's on the ending? Like the last 10 sec of the video, it's freaking cool!
Another great one Marty! Really hard to do on a Les Paul though! The tone from the AX8 is spot on too! Killer.
Thanks Andy!! 😎🥂
It's easier to do on a Les Paul than a strat. There's no wammy bar in this song so he probably played his Ibanez Destroyer.
Billy gibbons uses a quarter for a pick. That's how he gets those easy pinch harmonics. Great channel Marty
Yeh man! Or a Peso lol! I can’t imagine playing with a coin. Haha. Love BFG. One of my all time favorites!! 😎🙌
@@Ranch5150SkinWalker I have tried it. It works. Super easy to hit pinch harmonics but really reeks havoc on strings. Lol
