    Update September 2024:
    The M-Jet 30 received an essential update. The video above shows the old version of the M-Jet 30. I am considering the new M-Jet 30 to be better in every way.

    Hi Stepan, thanks for the video. I have had a look at some of your other builds- really great! A question, if I may (two actually)- I want to build a boat that uses the 6024 water jet, it is approximately 16mm diameter at the nozzle. Can I down scale your waterjet to this size? Secondly, I want to put a KaWeMa style reverse bucket on the water jet- is it possible to modify your water jet to take one?
    Thanks for your time.

    • @mjetdevelopment
      @mjetdevelopment  3 роки тому

      Hi, unfortunately it is not possible to change scale of the M-Jet 30, because that would also affect sizes of all holes for bearings, screws, motor mount pattern and servo mount. All of these dimensions would not make sense any more. Also, I am not planning to add a reverse bucket this jet drive, because I do not need it and prefer the lower weight and simplicity of going without it. The ball steering design also does not leave much space for any modifications. Thank you for understanding, Stepan

      I do not recommend this jet for a kayak, it is too small. Even two of them would still not produce enough thrust. For a bigger pump, check my M-Jet 60 video: ua-cam.com/video/QfqbVi8Tezk/v-deo.html

    Hello! I really love your video, and I am going to build a rc boat with this moter and files, but what is the hardware you use, like controller, receiver and servo servo do you use?

    • @mjetdevelopment
      @mjetdevelopment  Рік тому

      Hi, nice! For transmitter I used radiolink RC4GS with R6F V2 receiver, hobbyking HK 15328D servo and turnigy marine 120A esc. But apart from the ESC (where quality is important), brand of the transmitter, receiver and servo does not really matter. The only important thing is that the servo is waterproof, and most importantly to put the receiver into a 100% waterproof box.

    Oh just wondering could i buy the design and then 3d print it into a boat Hull or will i have to leave a hole in the hull for the jet?

    • @mjetdevelopment
      @mjetdevelopment  2 роки тому

      How do you mean? For using the M-Jet 30, you need to have a hull, cut a hole into it according to the manual and glue the jet drive into it.
      I also designed the M-Jet Sprint (see my channel) which has complete hull and the pump integrated

      @@gwlith1578 The pump in the M-Jet Sprint is smaller than M-Jet 30 (27 vs 30mm) but it is heavily based on the M-Jet 30, there are no big differences. The M-Jet 30 is meant for bigger hulls (50cm) vs the M-Jet Sprint only has 39cm.

    Hi I really like your design but i wanted to know would the hobbywing 2848SL 3900kv Brushless motor fit onto the mounting holes or would I have to buy the Turnigy AquaStar 3660-1700KV for it to work?
    Thanks in advance

    • @mjetdevelopment
      @mjetdevelopment  Рік тому +1

      The 2848 motor would not fit the motor mount, but also would not be powerful enough to spin the pump. I recommend using at least a 3660 motor. Any brand will work as long as you choose the kv correctly:)

    I love this. Are there both CW and CCW options in the files?. Do you have an option for a fixed (non steerable) jet?

    • @mjetdevelopment
      @mjetdevelopment  3 роки тому

      The files only include one option. However if you were to buy it and ask for it, I can send you a full mirrored version afterwards. There is no fixed option, but you can just use it without the nozzle and not cut the hole for the steering shaft in the hull.

    So, I bought the files for M-Jet 30 and I absolutely LOVE it. Been a fun project so far! But my question is, would you happen to have a file for a boat that my m-jet 30 will directly drop right in? I saw you have the one boat but that had a lot of the parts already built into the hall, meaning my purchase would be pointless..
    Any chance you could direct me to a boat hall that I can drop this M-Jet into? Thanks!!

      @mjetdevelopment  3 роки тому

      Hi, I have no file for a 3D printable hull that would work well with this jet drive. On my CGTrader page, I have a "Jetsprint hull for RC boats" which is a 3D printable mould that can be manufactured like in my carbon fiber hull video. Otherwise, I would just suggest you to buy a physical hull online, for example the Kehrer Modellbau jetsprint hulls will work well. kehrer-modellbau.de/en/KMB-RC-boat-hulls/Jetsprint-II/Jetsprint-II-Hull-without-cover

  • @freekwillemsen9748

    Hi Stepan, Great design! I`m curious about your thoughts: If I would scale it up, to approx. 50mm, do i still need the same rpm as the 30mm version? and what motor would you recommend?

    • @freekwillemsen9748
      @freekwillemsen9748 3 роки тому

      P.s. i bought the files, best design ever! Hard for others to match yours!

    • @mjetdevelopment
      @mjetdevelopment  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks! Target RPM drops with increased scale, the rule is that if you scaled the design up 4 times, the RPM drops 2 times - with the square root of 4. So for scale 50/30, you would need about 1.3 times less RPM, so 20000/1.3 = about 15000 RPM. And for a 50mm jet, you would need something like a 4094 motor or even bigger. But apart from that, scaling the jet drive is possible but comes with many drawbacks - many dimensions will not make sense any more, like the servo mount, bearings, etc.

    • @ashdjames
      @ashdjames Рік тому

      Hi Stephen I am also very interested in scaling up the unit to incorporate into my hull as it is a big larger, with regards to scaling it up I would need to increase the bearing diameters and probably the shaft diameter to compensate for any flex and increased stability on the rotation. How would I go about doing that if I purchased you M-Jet 30 or 35 stl as that would be a finished single piece stl. Editing the stl would be hard to change bearing sizes ect without the original design files. Only upscaling would be easy with stl but modifying it would be hard.
      If I purchased your files would you be able to help me out with the 3d files so that I can upscale and enlarge the bearing and shaft sizes to industry standard sizes that upscaling would not achieve?

      Hi, print settings are on page 4 in the manual:
      drive.google.com/open?id=10guq2Laz8EfP5fF6TGrs1q0CErPBnrqk
      The temperatures are not written there but I use 255 nozzle and 100 bed for ABS, 215 nozzle 60 bed for PLA.
      I recommend using PLA because of higher strength. The tolerances in the design are also meant for PLA. You can try ABS but you might have some problems with the stiffness of the impeller blades and tolerances in the nut slots etc. I definitely do not recommend printing with 100% infill, that makes the tolerances even worse. If you wish to use such a high infill, I would recommend dropping it at least to 90%.
