I think you'd get better performance without the elbow both because of the friction losses of the hard 90 degree bend and also due to the loss of the fan suction which would add the forward thrust if oriented horizontally.
cool idea. what if the you used the EDF as a water Jet turbine. that means spinning it inside tube that is under water. Sweet lake water won't destroy the motor in short terms. But it might been interesting to see how that would have worked out. maybe more speed?

Paper and packing tape would be lightweight; and 3) if you want the EDF style poweplant, Consider a "BDF". Cheaper, more robust, and more efficient with your battery. Great job!
I wonder if they apply this style of tech on military boats or ships. Would it be possible that the submarines won't be able track this ship using their sonar since the propeller is no longer under water? I'm thinking if this would still creat a lot of noise underwater

Itu yg bahaya tu...maklumat tambahan kalau nak bind baru kita switch on receiver dulu dan kemudian baru kita on transmitter utk connectkannya
Great project! One suggestion, I think you’re having trouble turning left because of the counter torque of the motor. Angle the pipe slightly to the left side (2 degrees or so) and I think turning should be easier. Also maybe extend the rudder into the water a little? I love the simplicity of this and it looks nice too. Nice job.
Good start - I will suggest that instead of using an 90 degree plastic pipe, use a dual 90 degree pipes to form an S intake. The air flow will be smoother. Try it out and see what happens. Best
