    Yngwie at his best, and a rarely performed song from his first album, at that. Cool, that there's a video of it.

      Yup, even Cesario Filho who's an incredible player and plays it note for note doesn't sound that clean and he sounds 99% like Yngwie
      I guess the pick attack has to do with how bent the thumb his, Yngwie at the time mostly played with a straight thumb so the pick was pretty much parallel to the string which gave that incredible attack and sound, Cesario on the other hand picks at an angle with a bent thumb

    • @pete4531

      It looks like he plays it on one string and pivots or slides his index finger between two frets. Is that correct?

    A lot of people have no idea how easy it is to play fast , once you do 3 things: scallop your neck, 008 strings, tune half step flat.

    It's so amazing that if you were told that it was a technique obtained by selling your soul to the devil, you would believe it! In 1987, about two years after this video was taken, he lost something major in an accident. The tone has clearly changed.

    • @xfu1993
      @xfu1993 8 місяців тому +4

      His sound changed after the accident because his management had ripped him off so he changed his gear (it wasn't really about his technique, which by the time Eclipse came out, was every bit as good as the earlier Yngwie) - before the accident:
      Grey DOD 250
      Boss NS-2
      Marshall model 1987 (50w amp)
      Speaker cab (g12-65)
      Some wah added in front here and there
      Fender XH picks
      Boss CE-1 and Roland DC-10 for live playing
      After the accident around 1988
      Gt12-75 speakers
      Dunlop 1.5 picks
      Yellow DOD 250
      and I guess other things

      @@xfu1993
      I'm sure, as you say, that there are changes in tone due to differences in equipment. However, after the accident, Yngwie's balance between his right and left hands changed slightly, and he began to make boring mistakes and lose his tempo. Eclipse also feels sloppy with vague performances. It's definitely different from the trilogy!

      @juankplaysomething 2 місяці тому +2

      @@xfu1993 Totally agree with you. Yngwie got fully recovered from that accident. That he lost his technical ability is a long standing internet myth. He even did some great stuff afterwards like 7th Sign, Magnum Opus and the Concerto. If he plays sloppy is because he just doesn't care enough to play cleanly, and prefers to improvise and go for stage showmanship (give the man/LEGEND a break, he is 60 something now!).

    To keep this accuracy in playing at older age is almost not doable. Speed and accuracy decrease with age.

    • @williamsats9327
      @williamsats9327  11 місяців тому +3

      Also, the ability to compose songs decreases over the years. Things are way different nowdays.....

    • @xfu1993
      @xfu1993 8 місяців тому +2

      For sure but I guess he doesn't play as much as he used to and though he still likes his style, he must be pretty tired of it after 45+ years
      His phrasing changed for sure around 2005 anyway, that's a shame because he used to have many great ideas but now all he seems to do is shred without any meaning
