All the haters in the world will never ever come close to understanding the genius that is Yngwie.......wow
I follow yngwie since 1983 and you are correct!!!!
Agreed. Yngwie plays with the sensibilities of a true classical violin soloist which is something too difficult for most guitarists to understand. I grew up hearing a lot of Vivaldi, Bach, Handel, and Scarlatti, so Yngwie's playing style always felt very at home for me.
black and white thinking much?
@@Mikau-gb8uo Yep. I can play most of Yngwie songs with tabs, but so does a load of people out there. The real talent is to be able to create it. That's what seperate him from the best amateurs out there
All the Yngwie lovers in the world will never come close to understand he is an arrogant conceited, rude, insulting, sarcastic, self serving shithead who smashes Strats on stage when he should give one to a fan instead. He could have politely refused a doughnut from Dimebag Darrel instead of being rude as hell! His career is all about the money and not the music or the fans and every fucking record sounds the same. Every song sounds like this, dedededededededededededed3dedededede amillion miles an hour, LOUD, DISTORTED, ON A STRAT THROUGH A MARSHALL CRANKED TO 11! Every fucking song! He thinks he's Gods gift to the guitar in a world where Jeff Beck can flatten him with one note!
I met him in 1996 outside a venue in London that I had earlier been watching his show in. I had a CD I wanted signing and embarrassingly I soon realised I had no pen! He smiled and laughed and instead shook my hand and we had a brief conversation, and he then got into his limo with his then wife. Really great guy and holy moly...what an incredible artist and performer he is! I have seen him three times; 1994, 1996 and 1998. Hope I can see him again before he hangs his strat up for good :-)
EgoShredder I saw him 1985 Corpus Christi, Tx. 1986 McAllen Tx. 1994 Modesto, California. 2019 San Antonio Tx.... STILL GREAT...
Yngwie loves 2 put the strat on.
There is no "putting the Strat up for good" with Yngwie.
@@davidtrevino5211wow, you know how lucky you are 😢😢😢
@musiclabtr At the Corpus christi show, me and about five of my buddies got to meet him and talk to him for about 45 minutes after the show.. At the McAllen, Tx show I snuck in backstage and met him and his girlfriend Greta and drank a beer with them, he gave me my first Shiner Beer ever from a huge cooler that he had back there... lol
Yngwie Beardsteen…arguably his greatest and cleanest playing period.
Mr. Lars Johan Yngwie Lannerback 🔥 🎸😎
Too bad this was at the height of his wife beating days as well
For all you people that are blown away by his picking - whilst it is incredible ! - what you are actually being drawn into is the sheer command , and musical virtuosity of this man . When he's at his best he is second to none . This clip just reminds me of that .
+Nick Andrews
the ironical thing is.. he barely picks
+James Rockford hi James - he does pick a great deal - but he uses way more legato in between lines than most realise ! It's what makes it sound fluid . He mixes the aggression of picking with the liquidity of legato
Nick Andrews
to clarify ... what I meant was most of the time he barely touches the pick on the string.. Very relaxed and very little friction. I agree he picks a lot compared to legato. But I was referring to his incredibly relaxed economy of motion
.
But certainly he can pick very aggressive as well like those short stops/break in far beyond the sun where he really digs in and picks really fast. Also his staccato is better than anyone but Dimeola or Nuno
Shame he's playing the same old licks nearly thirty years on. Don't get me wrong, I love Yngwie's old stuff, but if you listen to Vinnie Moore then and now, it's like he's actually improved, rather than stuck...
@@andrewslads lots of gain.
As someone else here mentioned. No matter what I allways seem to end up staring at some Yngwie-clip with my jaw dropped completley to the ground. I mean, really ... This kind of picking with a tone this clean!?!???
Yeah, but according to some morons, he ''lost his touch after his car accident."
He looks a lot better with the beard.
All I feel/hear is pain and sadness hearing him play here....but god damn it's awesome!
1987-1992 years were very harsh on him in his private life , Jaguar crash accident with hemmoragy and at first doctors said he wouldn't play guitar again.
1988, his mom passed away
1989 the manager leaves with all the money.
1990 his brother passed away
1992, his first divorce ....
1995, it was also another step into his life .
I hear a lot of melancoly in Magnum opus record as well.
In that case, in 1988, he played that Adagio thing to his mom funerals.
So it made a new meaning of playing it.
Just my guess
Malmsteen was in rare form this night
I never get enough of Malmsteen's music. I always come back to this guy full circle
THIS is what BEARD does to you!
One of the Best Ever to play the electric guitar in my lifetime that I have the good Fortune to have been able to say it to at the minimum online for this video
At this time the music world had moved on to Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, STP and the rest of the grunge stuff.
But Yngwie said, “nope”. I admire him for not caving to the grunge trend like so many other metal musicians did.
GREAT
The Heavy Metal band Europe gave up to grunge very sad
He survived off of the Japanese fanbase. Japan has always had great taste in music. They’ve been totally onboard since the days of Deep Purple
I remember these shows, met in Berlin in the Tour bus, snow outside, Christmas atmosphere, where we had a chat, drink wine , the tour manager shot us a couple of photos... and I gave Yngwie a Jimi Hendrix painting telling him to bring him inspiration... strangelly enough his next CD was called inspiration and when we met again we had a lauch on that and actually he had was Orchestra demo ready which has presented to me also next year...
Yngwie showed an amazing gratefulness and respect given back as received from me.
Before the meeting I asked the tour driver to inform Ynwgie, and apparently he gave wrong infromation. However Yngwie send his wife to look for which person was asking him and there it was.. I was very grateful for that... what a time...
Viking with Axe = Malmsteen with strat.
Viking with Donut = Yngwie with Donut
And with a cigaret)
what a f****g genius! Nothing like Yngwie...
From what I read Yngwie was pretty much a full blown alcoholic at this point, hence the beer gut.
The greatest tone of yngwie
I remember this period of his life doing this tour. He did a gig in a little Spanish town called Algeciras (something very unusual). I'm from Madrid but it was impossible for me to attend his gig in Madrid because I was working in Algeciras. For some mystical reason, Algeciras was the last town to perform on that tour, and I was able to see him. I remember he had that beard and it was funny. It was one of the best concerts I've seen of Yngwie. The venue was not crowded and on one side a waitress was serving me beers and a few meters away there was Yngwie playing like a demon. I will remember that night forever. Great show!!!!
must've been very magical, great story!
Great story
Cool! Feliz!
Ame tu historia.
Strange how I can't put up with the more commercial side of his albums, yet crave for shredding classic material.like this All in all, I guess he remains as one of the biggest misunderstood (different from underrated) mega talents of Metal. Long live the magician.
I actually like Heaven Tonight. Deja Vu might be my favorite Yngwie song
This is awesome! He was very much on top form that day! Thank you so much for uploading this!
My God, that was wild!!!
I love yngwie with his beard^_^
The song at 1:25 is paganini 4th violin concerto just incase anyone else was wondering.
crazy , so talented ,
I saw it two weeks before in Algeciras, Spain, on December 1 and they were great. great moment in the band and a more than better vocalist, Mike Vescera...Mind blowing
I just made a post talking about that concert in Algeciras lol It was an amazing show! De los mejores conciertos que he visto de Malmsteen :)
hes on fire in this video
very rare yngwie viking look!
The drummer and bassist are fucking good.
Stoner 60's Yngwie? Long life to the one and only!
Incredible with out a doubt ! The Neo-Classical King of Shredd at his most Awesomeness !!!
This is awesome!! Good recording. Digging the beard too!
RIP Mats
I love how he always wears the wrist watch.
Excellent! WOW,thanks for sharing this!! Made my day! He's playing fantabulous here! Yngwie's the greatest guitarist ever!
Love you master.
Ok, YJM might have been very overweight during this period but nevertheless his looks with the beard suited him great! He looked just like a over-the-top rock-viking! HAHA! That was a great look for sure.
If you look he wasn't overweight here.
Like a boss.
Beast. Love yngwie
Like a fine wine. He get's better with age.
This is 1995...
This is probably one of he's better performances of Icarus Dream and not the usual "lets see how many notes I can hit within a short period of time" playing.
I was there!!!!! :-)
holy crap! the dude can play...
just amazing
Superb imitation! Wow...
So great!
Yngwie needs some reliable picks for xmas, maybe carbon fiber. This is still the best xmas shred Ive seen, way to go bro.
Incroyable performance !
This time was his Zenith for sure!!!
Beardy Yngwie gives away a lot of plectrums...!
He looks more like a viking with the beard :)
Bit of Vivaldi's "Winter" there haha... first time I've seen Malmsteen with facial hair.
Don't think I've seen Yngwie play quite this clean in any other live recording. In the 80s, the prancing around often seemed to come before accuracy, and nowadays I don't think he ever plays this well, sadly.
YummyBananaFish (Except with Alcatrazz. He was insanely good live, at that point).
I sometimes wonder if he is having brain issues at this point. He seems a bit slurred when he speaks in interviews that I seen of late. He did have an almost-fatal car wreck back in the 80's with a very serious brain injury. Maybe it's catching up to him
100 percent agree ,best tone sound ive heard from him so far , wish he would go for that now , lot more processed now,and he doesnt need to,
crusTodd Yes, and he has also taken a shitload of drugs and been a smoker and an alcoholic too. I'm amazed that he's still alive.
YummyBananaFish I've gotta come back and amend this again: it seems like his playing was generally at its best all the way up until the end of the Trilogy tour. That accident really was a turning point. Sad.
He looks cool with the beard 😂
Jesus plays guitar.
@@mindcontrol67 😂👍👍
Movie star good looks and a real guitar god
That was number 5 of his fender stratocaster(it is maple cap)
I cannot believe he is playing with so little reverb/delay here
Sure, he was out of shape physically, but his playing here is IMPECCABLE, his tone was great too, much more raw and not as processed as his tone is nowadays. Great clip
amazing
hey ! master !
holy mother of god...
Único! El mejor
It's too bad that Yngwie never released a Christmas album. I'd be rocking out to it right now.
He is the Guitar God!
I miss this Yngwie, probably he still cared. This days he can't perform like this anymore. He just overdoes it and sounds like too many notes just played at once...
His gut hanging out and plays the same way since day one.
Damn!
I really do prefer the pick attack with his DiMarzio pickups. Just seems like his sound "breaths" a bit more. This video is a good example of it, even if the quality isn't amazing.
Yes!Dimarzio HS-3,the old grey DOD 250 and vintage 50 watt Marshalls. Now his usig 100 watt heads,Semour Duncan pickups and a Fender YJM overdrive. And it sucks.
ベースプレイヤーのサウンドと技術がすばらしい
Well we all know that Yngwie didnt miss his Christmas dinner that year! LOL
And the wine, beer, and port :P.
Yngwie with a beard and smoking a cig... Now I've seen everything
The name player bass? Good very good.
+FRAN RIVERS It's Barry Sparks.
Maybe "Barry Sparks"
It's a guy called Barry Dunaway
I am very sure that is Barry Sparks. If this video was taken in 1995 like it says, then he would have been the touring bass player at the time. Also, his finger-picking
Style gave it away. If you don't believe me, listen to Magnum Opus, which came out the next year. That's his playing on that album.
0:19 "Sh*t, there goes my last guitar pick"
lool. one of the two days in History Ludwigshafen was a nice city.
Amazing, thanks for sharing.
Did Michael Vescera sing there?
I have a bootleg from that year that sounds amazing, recorded raw from the console...it sounds better than the live albums released, it's like being right there.
It's "Live in Sundsvall, Sweden, November 17, 1995."
I was surprised when I saw the cover, with yngwie with a beard and mustache😁
Badass
Awesome playing. Also, bearded Yngwie looks more sympathetic. I know, I'm weird! 🤣
what a beast
Barry Sparks Rules!!!!
He plays for the song - his songs.
awesome, he´s looking a bit like a hippie here
ZZ Malmsteen! Yngwie Top 🎸. and so on
Yngwie Claus 🎅
Lol i think he almost ascended in this gig
Apotheosis
notice the vivvaldi's four season at 1:00 ?
JODEEERRRR!!!!!!
Yngwie with a beard and exploding mania!! I wish i could have seen this!!!
Yngwie 1995 and Lars Ulrich late 1992 -1994 are lost brothers
oj oj oj !!!
Without question, I love his music but I have to admit I also love the beard
@yngwie5757 so true!!!!
Master
Malmsteen 👏
Bass guitar 👍👏
Any more footage from this concert?
Big fat stomach that is were tone lives.
Mr. Lars Johan Yngwie Lannerback 🔥 🎸 🤘 😎
Up to Magnum Opus, he was untouchable. Fat BUT untouchable :) His phrasing (both live and in studio) was still there, his tone was clean as a baby's butt and his picking was spot on. At some point after 2005 or so, everything collapsed live and although he is getting back to form the last few years (I think Gen Axe was useful for him, gave him a bit of a challenge) he still is not what he used to be...Phrasing especially has disappeared to oblivion....
The new pickups by SD also made his tone worse IMO
Can someone PLEASE tell me the classical piece he plays at 0:55
Heard it on a tv show years ago and want to hear it again but have no idea how to search for it
summer-vivaldi
@@endisbandage7733 cheers!
@Anatak10 Exactly he is awesome and paid his dues. Why do these clowns think they are funny mentioning how he looks.I met him and all I can say is yamon he's the deal!
