Thanks for doing a video on this ship. I WISH they would update the seating like the visuals. The Mantecore is my favorite design in Star Trek. It just LOOKS like if the FED made a warship to fight the Borg and Dominion. It's a product of a malevolent universe kicking the UFP in the groin over and over again since wolf 359. And honestly Nog _DESERVES_ to have a cannon command under his belt. Erin Eisenburg was an incredible actor and just an all around good guy.
I seriously thought I was watching Certifiably in game until I noticed the voice was different and looked at the channel logo lmao. Great video, thank you
certifiably in game was part of the inspiration for this. lore topics like this are something I find really interesting and it's something he does very well. I'm trying to expand into this sort of content with my own spin on it.
I like the Chimera and Manticore. Tough little ships. Also, I think a series centered around Nog and his career would be great. They'd have to get someone else to play him, but I think that would be a great way to honour Aaron Eisenberg's legacy and memory within the franchise. But only with permission from his family. If this is done, it gets done _right_ . No compromises here. My idea would be for _Star Trek: Chimera_ to show Starfleet's relations with several alien species in the _Trek_ universe through Nog and his career, as well as through his crew. The first couple episodes could serve as a bridge from where he was at the end of _DS9_ to him getting command of _Chimera_ . Then we follow the ship and her crew as they interact with the various species and powers in the post-Hobus Supernova world. In canon, this would allow a fleshing out of the Romulan Free State and how it differs from Sela's Romulan Star Empire and Romulan Republic founded by D'Tan. Helping the Romulans through a faction war would effectively show Nog's character, as well as those of his bridge crew, at the very least. And if they were also to adapt the Iconian War, it could also include the long lead-up to it. Va'Kel Shon could even come in as the new replacement commanding officer of the refit _Enterprise-F_ in Shelby's place, the _Titan-B_ being found as somewhat lacking as a flagship on a Starfleet level, although she could serve easily as a command ship on a smaller scale. Instead of being returned to the museum due to a shortage in ships following the events of the _Picard_ series finale, the _Enterprise-D_ could be refit as a Yamato- or Ross-class, and renamed _USS Challenger_ , with Geordi as her commanding officer. However the _TNG_ crew have had their stories, so they would only appear as cameos and in large fleet actions, which would happen seldom. The same could go for Tom Paris, Harry Kim, and other returning luminaries. The main focus of _STC_ would be _Chimera_ and her crew. New stories, not constant nostalgia, as current Trek has continuously been doing. Whether the series would include the Iconian War, or that would be its own thing would be something to determine. If it would be its own mini-series, and include many perspectives that way, then _STC_ would have only the lead-up, and end at the start of the war proper, with the possibility of returning to Nog's story after the war. This would mainly be because the Player, Sela, and the Iconians themselves are the central players in the Iconian War. Nog and _Chimera_ take supporting roles. _Trek_ mostly tracks Starfleet stories, so we rarely go very in-depth with aliens. Since Nog is an alien Starfleet officer, he can straddle the line, allowing for a greater exploration both of powers we know, and those we don't. He can shift the focus away from what we know of the human Starfleet culture, into one more driven by his sense of self and justice, and how the Rules of Acquisition fit in.
I was wondering if there was going to be a potential retcon to the Chimera since they updated the original Chimera variant with a late 24th century California style aesthetic. It could be possible that an early form of the chimera was tested around the later lower decks era without the Dynamic Tactical System to test out the ship class. And something like the attack on Utopia Planitia being a reason the project was shelved until the early 2400s. It can be possible since now STO's cannon has a early prototype Akira class present at the battle of Wolf 359 (And out of the realm of possibility, a California class) And Starfleet has the knack for being super design crazy and building ships where the technology has not caught up enough to those ships to be successful (See: Original Ambassador class)
5:40 nope. STO is still a Paramount ordered product, thus it IS the canon timeline we all know and love post NEMESIS. What they did with Picard and discovery was creating a multiverse (they even said so themself). Picard play's in one of them, most likely the one where the discovery was build and used (wich per timeline cant even happen... we all know ARcher was still around when they made prototype Constitutions already, wich is NOT what discovery show's (also Consti was mere 50 years AFTER the NX , where we all know the designs going forward after the NX made her final dropout (wich do NOT look like the ones in discovery). So IF AT ALL, its multiverse stuff. STO is still the PRIME verse as we all know and love it. They changed stuff they would otherwise not be able to do and change with multiverse stuff. Fed-Klingon war? Happened during Kirks reign (he was a veteran of it), not prior to it! SNW tried to reestablish the prime verse, wich it did a somewhat good job on (i doubt Uhura EVER was on tactical in her life at all, she first and formost comunications officer). Especiel the tensions with the romulans are shown again, wich was nice. Something wich in discovery didnt even happen. Otherwise we would have seen Miranda's and other warships already (like we do see the constitution, able to hold her own against ships that didnt even exist prior to section 31 becomming antagonist (wich, realy, they where not during kirks era(with those drone CV's? Klingons would have LOST and not pushed back federation hard prior to the consti comming out). Soooooo. STO = Prime verse Discovery = Start of Multiverse shit(thou realy?... about time.... the shit about "when we alter the past we alter our future" went on my nerves hard... thats NOT how time travel works!) Picard = Discovery multiverse stuff. Why? Because most of the stuff established in Nemesis alone was REDCONED HARD! And that ONLY works via multiverse.
thats not how timetravel works huh? cool, care to explain how u can so definitly know that? u arent a timetraveler in disguise, now are u? lol other than that point, i pretty much agree, Disco was definitly not possible in the Prime Universe, and as for Picard... well we had alternate timelines before already with Kelvin so thats fine with me tbh
not really able to see things as not cannon any more because of Discovery showing that there are indeed multiple universes which mean unlimited number of possible story all cannon because of it what happens in STO can still be cannon because of this fact if only for point that STO may take place in a universe that isn't 100% one Picard takes place in
Like a child, Kurtzman has refused to cater the idea his Trek is an alternate universe, and insists it's Prime canon. Meanwhile a recent SNW ep has confirmed the entirety of Kurtzman Trek is a delayed Eugenics War alternate universe.
I haven't played the Iconia episodes yet but it is just highly unlikely the Federation or anyone else would have been able to offer sufficient resistance to the Iconians but then we wouldn't have all the episodes so I guess we'll see...
You gotta remember that it wasn't just the Federation, basically everyone was fighting the Iconians because they were out to just wipe out the whole galaxy. The Federation, Klingons, Romulan Republic, the Ferengi, Krenim, pretty much every minor faction, Sela even managed to get the Dominion to join the final battle. The Iconian war was basically the conflict that allowed the Khitomer Alliance to develope.
@Stu1701 Yeah, I haven't played that story arc, but if a society evolved to galaxy spanning proportion and had such an understanding of the nature of the Universe to develop the kind of technology and gateways the Iconians had I just have a hard time believing they would be hostile. Even if they were, for whatever reason, hostile; it just seems unlikely that any of the current races combined power would have any effect on a race that developed over millions of years and explored the galaxy thousands of years before humans were even an after thought. And just for arguments sake, where were the Iconians in relation to the progenitors now being showcased in Discovery? Were they also "created" by the Progenitors, and even if they were, how did they not figure it out first? There are just so many unnecessary holes in the Trek Universe, but I still watch and still play STO..🤷♂️
Its probably best we just ignore the entirety of Picard... STOs story is much more narratively sound than anything in all three seasons of Picard... by a very large margin.
Give me a damn break. Making pivot points, sliders WHATEVER for huge sections of ship for a mode is stupid as hell. The only time you see that is variable swept wing aircraft to make use of the wing for various air patterns and speed but they don't like doing it for weight and cost. Just because this is the future doesn't mean any of that changes. And what do the variable saucer sections do? The nacells ok because of your warp BS Voyager wrote in. Ok... but the saucer and hull? Why is that necessary other than young boy hot wheels madness. I mean c'mon.
I didn't know Nog became a Starfleet Captain. Cool. If they would fire the woketards writing Star Trek shows this day and age and hire non-woke people I would enjoy seeing a DS9 with Nog and his ship patrolling the sectors around the wormhole.
Discovery actually acknowledged the Kelvin timeline when speaking about a character named Yor. The Picard series picks up with the destruction of Romulus, which happened in the 2009 film. STO is largely influenced by that event as well. I don't really like the nuTrek stuff at all and maybe we need to differentiate between "official" and "canon" but when we can't trust the current runners to embody the visionor spirit of what we fell in love with I guess we're just stuck making our own head-canons.
"Kiss the staff" one of the best lines in the game :)
Thanks for doing a video on this ship.

Incredible video!! Honestly, I view STO as more lore accurate than Picard, and see Lower Decks as synergizable with STOs stories so far.
I seriously thought I was watching Certifiably in game until I noticed the voice was different and looked at the channel logo lmao. Great video, thank you

Great lore vid. The Chimera is certainly one of STO's most iconic original ship designs and doesn't get enough attention IMO.
I love my Fleet Chimera. Thanks for the background.
This is cool man. I know you have tons of time lol, but I'd be very interested in any other lore summaries you might have planned!
Nice work on this Stu
A very nice video, on a ship almost no one uses. I enjoyed it! Thank you!
Looks like an updated version of the Stargazer.
The most important part of having a Ferengi as your captain meant your ship's logistics were second to none.
I like the Chimera and Manticore. Tough little ships.

Excellent video. Never played the game. Still enjoy the world. Thank you. 🎉
Great video! Loved it a lot!
Always liked this ship, I actually use it as my go to ship built for T.O.G
T.o.g?
@@peterhans3791 tour of the galaxy
My favorite ship of all time, and we need a hero class version.
Great video! Look forward to more lore content.
Would be nice if they made asking off of deep space nine with captain nog.
Hope there's more lore series' this is awesome

you have to remember that they have to figure out what happen to Nog since the actor has passed away. So in Canon something has happened

such a cool ship, a shame its locked behind a wall that just isnt possible to climb over for some ppl -.-
This ship would be amazing in STFC
This was my flagship for like 2 years lol
Well done! 😎
Lol, I thought the major contributor to the project was the Last Starfighter ;)

To be fair, they were offering resistance but not really winning.
I’d think I’ll stick with Sto lore in my head. Picard to me just seemed like a bunch of member berries and cliche action show number 23759.
Picard is not canon BTW. So the main storyline from STO will work as is.
Its probably best we just ignore the entirety of Picard... STOs story is much more narratively sound than anything in all three seasons of Picard... by a very large margin.
and at what 300.00 iirc....
Is it just me, or do tactical pods on ships always ruin the design?
depends on the ship, but i really like the pod on the Manticore

That transformerBS is just unnecessary.
Or we can just pretend none of that Star Trek: Picard stuff ever happened. There! Problem solved.
I didn't know Nog became a Starfleet Captain. Cool. If they would fire the woketards writing Star Trek shows this day and age and hire non-woke people I would enjoy seeing a DS9 with Nog and his ship patrolling the sectors around the wormhole.
Nonsense
It suck
everybody knows that Star Trek online is not Canon. because how do you explain how the kalvin timeline is in the game yeah it's not Canon
Kevin timeline is it's own timeline. Or mirror universe also not canon?
Discovery actually acknowledged the Kelvin timeline when speaking about a character named Yor.
The Picard series picks up with the destruction of Romulus, which happened in the 2009 film.
STO is largely influenced by that event as well.
