What I come across the most when talking to ppl online is that ppl do not know how to rightfully divide the Word of God, which is imperative to understanding the truth, and when you wrongfully divide the Bible it leads to false doctrine, and one ends up not being born-again by receiving the Holy Ghost, which is essential to making it into the Kingdom. I'm so thankful Christ infilled me with the Holy Ghost, and I was given spiritual revelation of the truth because it's extremely difficult to overcome false doctrine once a person has saturated their heart and mind with false doctrine, and it takes the Holy Ghost to correct ones thinking and interpretation of the scriptures. I run into it all the time, and it's where the majority of ppl go wrong right out the gate, and ppl cannot see and understand what Holy Ghost-filled ppl see, and the truth is priceless and is the most important thing in life to possess. I have seen Catholics, Baptists and even Muslims overcome false doctrine and receive the Holy Ghost, but it's because their heart was repentant and in the right place with God and they sought out the truth with all their might, which Deuteronomy 6:4-9 actually commands of us. I took Bible studies before receiving the Holy Ghost, and I didn't understand anything, but I certainly understood the scriptures after receiving the Spirit of Christ, and it was like the words jumped off the pages and illuminated itself into my heart and mind and I would make sure to confirm my understanding of the Bible with my grandmother who had already received the Holy Ghost decades earlier, and she was seasoned in the scriptures and I was always right on the mark because Christ opened up my understanding that I might understand scripture like the Lord had to do with the Apostles in Luke 24:45. I wouldn't trade the Holy Ghost and truth for all the money in the world. Thank you Jesus!!
    Acts 2:38🕊

    Challenge answered…
Paul also defined the kind of tongues with which he spoke…
    1 Corinthians 14:15,18-19 KJV
What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also. [18] I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all: [19] Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.
Certainly if we saw missionaries be able to speak Chinese without having to learn it, speak Thai without having to go through language school, we would believe that the gift of tongues had survived. But with all due respect to my brothers and sisters in Pentecostal churches…that kind of tongues doesn’t happen. Or if it does it is a vanishingly small percentage of the tongues spoken today.
In fact, that kind of tongues has ceased. And the common kind that is here was unknown to the church. You cannot find one example from n the church fathers of the modern use of non understandable tongues.

"God resist' the proud but give grace to the humble". If a person finds his/her way to the truth, it'll be because GOD drew them out of that darkness, and into His marvelous light. "No man cometh unto the Father but by me" Jesus said. I really enjoy hearing Dr. Bernard speak on these subjects, and you can tell he has a true burden for people who are bound by false doctrine. Truly an anointed man of God. He has more patience than me, that's for sure. Especially when it comes to people who want to stay in their crippled beliefs. Yet, I am convinced that they are not only embracing false doctrine, but there is a spiritual pride that is tied in, and God HATES pride. So not only are they NOT being drawn by JESUS, but they are being resisted with everything that is in heaven, and GOD, and his holy angels. You wonder why they fight so hard to convince themselves that oneness, speaking in tongues, and the truth of Acts 2:38 isn't from GOD, even though it's in the bible? In black and white? It's not them resisting GOD and the truth, but GOD is resisting them. If a person is found by Jesus through one of Dr. Bernards messages, they need to ever so thankful for this man of GOD, because honestly, I think God is getting ready to shut that door, and people in these churches that are preaching and teaching a lie will be left to their false religion. Left to believe a lie because they received not the love of the truth.

They are resisting God, but I don't believe God is resisting them. God doesn't force anyone. If they get serious about knowing who God is, instead of what He can do for them, He will reveal Himself to them, and open their eyes to the truth. That's what He did for me.

If you want to display the gift of prophecy then you need to apply the rules for prophesying falsely. Btw it is death! God CANNOT lie and if you make a prophecy that does not come to pass, either you need to admit that you spoke of yourself and not of God - OR you are saying God lied. When people start being truthful about this, people will stop being cessationists.

Mr. Bernard, when we consider tongues we have to first understand that these are known languages.
Second, according to Paul we are told to tell people to sit down and stop speaking if noan understands them.
As a cessationist I can attest to myself along with many other leading cessationists when I say that yes there are still tongues (languages and not gibberish), so it's not that God's not still moving today, but rather there is no need for apostolic sign gifts.
For the signs are for the Jews and they turned away and now we are to come to Jesus by faith.
With all do respect sir, tongues (not the gibberish kind), prophesying, casting out demons, and such are easy to fake.
Not to mention every continuationist and charismatic I know can all pretty well do all of these things.
A true testament to not only myself, but the rest of the world would be one of them that believe that the sign gifts are for today is to exercise the gift of healing on an entire children's hospital.
My issue is everyone can do these other gifts on command and with ease, but I do not see the gift of healing being done today.
I believe in praying for the sick and I do believe and know that God heals people in accordance to His will to this very day
However, it is evident to me that the sign gifts have ceased and we are to pray and have faith.
If it were for today then where is the ones with the gift of healing?
Everyone can easily and on command do the others.
Nobody is doing that with the one that cannot be faked.
Imagine what a witness that would be if someone cleared out a whole hospital.
Imagine how many people would marvel and come to Christ due to seeing such a miraculous thing occur.
Instead we're still here discussimg this issue that could be put to rest of someone could excersice that gift.
The ball is in the continuationist and charismatics court when it comes to proving us wrong.
I would like to be wrong.
The reality of this just proves that I'm not.

WOW. First of all You fail to read 1 For.13:1 Paul says he speaks with tongues of men and ANGELS. IT is very arrogant to call it gibberish. Continualist as you call it, which is really Biblical, don't have to prove anything. The death of your Churches proves you wrong. You have social clubs, not Churches. You miss read scripture, you add your own words to scripture. Also were you there in the first Century to know for a fact what in your opinion was authentic tongues sounded like? Proverbs 16:18 (KJV) 18 Pride goeth before destruction,
and an haughty spirit before a fall.

      @GraceAbove223 4 місяці тому

@@hargisP2that absolutely does not say that! Though means (In the case of or that)I speak in tongues of men or angels is an analogy to support the subject. Tongues of men are languages, tongues of Angels are not tongues of men he doesn’t say he can speak in an Angelic but says if he did and lacked charity it would be gibberish. He’s prioritizing our mode of operation. They are literally the tongues of angels however if he’s being interpreted as referring to his private prayer language then it would be gibberish if the individual lacked charity.Paul is not an Angelic being but apparently has spoken in many languages. Yes there are different tongues of man. Every language in fact is a different tongue. I do believe people possess a prayer language that is between you and God but that is not how tongues are expressed in the modern day church. You have whole congregations speaking in unknown speak all at the same time .Gift of Tongues or language spoken in Acts 2 were so those who were of a different language could understand Peter’s words. In Acts 10 it’s said that they were expressed the same ways as at Pentecost. The other thing that tongues were doing was acting as a sign to Peter who was a JEW to show him that Gentiles could receive Gods Spirit he wasn’t sure if they could. But Jews seek a sign and Greeks seek wisdom. 1 Corinthians 1:22. Also remember that Paul says if an unbeliever comes into the congregation and everyone speaks in tongues they will think they are insane. 1 Corinthians 14:23. So the gift is real but very misused and I’ve only seen them used in the context of Acts one time. Also there was never anyone trying to speak in tongues or be coached to speak in tongues like I’ve seen in some circles. It came to them unknowingly and without thought. So if you have a prayer language that isn’t like your language fine! No one should really hear it anyway because that’s yours personally. If tongue is spoke in service let it be at the most 3 and have an interpreter. 1 Corinthians 14:27. So Saying that tongus are evidence of the infilling of the Holy Spirit could happen but you would know because someone who doesn’t speak your language would hear his language being spoken. The languages understand at Pentecost were evidence of the gift the gift wasn’t the evidence of a language if you yourself can’t understand. There was no self edification at Pentecost it was done with an intention to instruct. If I speak something and can’t understand it how is it fruitful. But if I speak a language I can’t understand and it’s in the native tongue of my brother then it has served the purpose. It’s a tool to communicate by way of the power of God! It’s a lot more special than we realize!

The cessationists are not guardians to restrict tongues speaking or apostolic miraculous signs today, it’s just simple ; what we are seeing today are not the tongues of scripture neither miraculous signs .
For their purpose was to confirm the gospel clearly to nations the same way Christ message was accompanied by mighty miracles.
The scripture is full and complete . Christians must rest in what the lord commanded“ if you abide in me and my words be in you ,you are truly my disciples!

You say cessationist are not guardians to restrict tongues speaking or apostolic miraculous signs today, but then restrict. The very reason the Church is so weak today is because the Church is turning the Holy Ghost away. Jesus said behold I stand at the door and knock. It’s for ourselves and nobody really ever needs to hear it if they can’t understand it. It’s better to speak 5 words in front of people that they can understand then 10 thousand in a tongue. That’s what he’s driving home. I believe everything in the Bible is for us but that it’s not to be misused as it is in present day. If unbelievers come in and hear everyone speaking in a tongue wouldn’t they think they were insane? I’ve spent countless hours trying to show unbelievers who have witnessed this that we are not. I believe God does (select or certain) miracles today, the big ones being how He changes our hearts and gives us hearts of flesh in place of stone, holds us together by His might, etc, but I believe that direct revelation from Him and signs of healing maimed limbs with a touch, speaking in tongues, raising people from the dead, etc are signs that He gave to select people for the purpose of showing His authority being placed on them.
I believe this to be biblical. I do believe God heals supernaturally today, just not in the same ways He did most times. And God forbid your Pastor is lying to you and tells you you do not have the Holy Ghost if you don't He's a liar and should be ashamed. I've been to a Pentecostal church that did just that. The Bible says
1 Corinthians 12:(7) But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. (8) For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; (9) To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; (10) To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: (11) But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

Paul teaches in 1 Corinthians 14:(19) Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue. (20) Brethren, be not children in understanding; howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men.
Malice? He said that. Let's see what that means? One destructive fruit of sinful human nature is malice - the desire to harm someone or the feeling of pleasure at someone's misfortune. Hmm kinda seems like what this church that pressed tongues down my throat did to me. I was confused until I read scripture for myself and stopped letting them just pull scripture from wherever and apply it to me. The Bible also teaches us in verse 33
1 Corinthians 14:33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
Kinda ironic this scripture is in the same verse Paul teaches about tongues. Since parting ways with that church I've come across something called dispensationalism which was life-changing in my Bible reading. The Bible says in 2 Timothy
2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
The scriptures speak to different people in different time periods past, present, and future. And dividing it rightly is biblical. This is why there are so many false doctrines today because they pull whatever fits their narrative and deceive people into believing that it applies to them. As Gentiles in the modern church age we are saved by Grace by Faith in Jesus Christ alone. There is nothing we can do but believe He did what He did and have Faith in Jesus and what he did at Calvary and if you're being taught anything else it's heresy and your Pastor may be sending you the wrong direction God forbid. Our works come after our salvation but salvation not by works. It says in Philippians 2
Philippians 2: [12] Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. [13] For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
Salvation is in you through Grace and Faith and the Holy Ghost is within working in you. Work it out.

You obviously skipped over this.....(KJV)1 Cor.13:1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of ANGELS. Jesus is the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit gives the gifts. Jesus speaking...Mark 16:14-18 (KJV) 14 Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen. 15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. 17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new 18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Peter....Acts 10:44-48 (KJV) 44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. 45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. 46 For they heard them speak with and magnify God. Then answered Peter, 47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? 48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days. Just as the Gospels are unique in their own content so are the Epistles. You should read the WHOLE Bible.

I’m not a cessationist and I don’t consider myself a continuationist either, I honestly don’t believe what I see in the churches that claim to speak in tongues as using it Biblically. Most encourage everyone to speak in tongues and it’s usually gibberish and they never seem to have an interpreter.
So if someone came into our church just speaking gibberish claim it was tongues then I would say no to allowing them to continue the mess.
Tongues spoken about in scripture was a known language not gibberish.

Because I see nothing but arrogance and pride among those that don't speak in tongues, and ridicule of those who do. In the 1950's the Methodist use to speak in tongues, along with the Baptist. Then they quit because of the serpent questioned it.

The only tongues that were not interpreted were prayer tongues which are only between the person and God -- because they cannot be interpreted. When tongues were used, one spoke at a time, no more than three, and if there was no interpreter, they were to remain quiet. Even if tongues were used today, they are not used according to Scripture.
