Cool that the MWIII SPAS-12 has mode switching and the mode switching animation is correct (pushing the button under the pump grip forward for auto and back for pump, with the pump even in the correct position on the heat shield). Also cool that they changed the sound effect for the modes, too, with just a booming gunshot in pump mode, but adding that “ping” sound in semi auto since that’s the bolt cycling while firing. Other than that, the reload animations are way off, with the empty reload animation in particular being a bizarre and really dumb way to reload. Also, the model is another one of those “California compliant” bullshit models which looks more like an airsoft Chinese knockoff of a SPAS-12 rather than an actual one. I’d say the most accurate SPAS-12 to real life would be the MW2 Remastered reload animations with Cold War’s gun model and MWIII’s mode switching and sound effects.
The California law things is fake, ubisoft is also from California, and they still use real gun names and models in xdefiant, Activision just to greedy to pay for the licensing

@@Ansioso53Ah, the slow mo shows our "hands" don't actually insert a shell into the chamber first in empty reload of mwIII. The game doesn't keep track of +1, so as you say it's still correct.

MWIII managed to revolutionise the appearance of a SPAS-12 in game with it being able to switch modes and STILL RUINED THE LOOK OF THE GUN They fucking bastardized it with a shitty chinese BB gun and a LAW-12 We were so close to greatness
Sven COOP a Half-Life multiplayer coop game also has this feature, but it does not have switching fire mode animation and characters don't press carrier latch while reloading.

The pump in semi-auto was probably a compromise to avoid making two separate sets of animation. The icon of the old cod games, the Freeman"s Boomstick, the SPAS-12 is such an iconic and interesting weapon due to the fact that it has a button on the pump that can transform it into a pump action or semi auto.
I mean, that's not why it's interesting. So much so that the Benelli M3 can also switch between modes and it's a better weapon in every way. The SPAS-12 is famous because it looks cool and that's about it.

Also, as a SPAS-12 owner myself, I actually prefer the SPAS over the Benelli M3, mainly because I prefer gas operated shotguns (more cleaning required but has less felt recoil) over inertia shotguns like the Benelli M-series outside of the M4/M1014. The SPAS also has a slightly higher magazine capacity (8 vs. 7) and the heat shield makes it nice to C-clamp grip the gun without gloves on. Finally, while jury’s still out on which is better, the SPAS-12 has a slide lock (different to the bolt release) that pump shotguns do which locks the action forward when the hammer is cocked so you don’t pull the action out of battery while holding it, and the Benelli M3 doesn’t have that. That does mean you have less buttons to worry about, but it also means it’s possible to pull the shotgun out of battery while gripping the gun (hence why every dedicated pump shotgun dating to at least the Winchester 1897 locks the action and can only open if you either shoot the shell or hit the slide lock button). Benelli M3’s main benefits are that it’s lighter due to being an inertia shotgun and it doesn’t need to hold down the bolt release to load since it’s a newer design where that previous requirement for semi-auto shotguns was finally resolved. Though given the SPAS-12’s capacity (can go up to 10 shells ghost loaded) and the fact that tube shotguns are slow to load to begin with, I don’t consider the loading to be that big of a deal. If I need to speed reload a shotgun in combat, I should’ve brought a magazine fed gun instead.
MW2 Remastered is pretty quite accurate for reloading process. BOCW isn't bad although they're didn't chamber the round and aiming with the stock which is impossible for doing in real life. Another mistake in MW2.5 that you can't pump the SPAS-12 when operating in semi mode and when partial reload they're not press carrier latch to insert shell.
I swear to god they just put these guns through an AI generator for MW III. They could get away with realer models then why are they deforming them here?
Regarding the differences between real life guns and ones shown in mw2019 onwards using airsoft stuff and parts(and earlier games too, mw2 mp5k and m4 used such iirc), the modelers also deliberately place screws pins and various other gun bits in wrong/odd places, both to avoid copyright and license issues.
Besides the reloads only being correct on 2 (MW2R and CW.) while being slightly correct in another (MWIII's empty reload I think holds the button.) one thing is for certain. THEY ALL USE THE LEVER SAFETY.
Partial normal reload isn't. The empty however looks beautiful when you twin load than loading shell at a time. The only lackluster for empty reload is that the operator didn't add a shell in the chamber

my 2 favorites have to be the BO1 or MW3 spas. sure, MW3 is airsoft, but i'm ngl i barely noticed the actual differences. the fact it can mode switch and even has noticably different sounds is cool, and 2 shell loading is pretty neat too. ( don't see much of a reason to hate it, makes the gun more unique. as for BO1, i just love the thing. it sounds real nice 'n' was a really fun gun to use.

When I play H3VR I get annoyed by how the bolt of the Spas 12, set to semi, doesn't chamber a round when I hit the bolt release, so I'd be forced to dryfire, then rack the bolt back to properly chamber it. Seeing how the reload is so busy with controls reminds me of all the fuss I have using the Spas in VR.
Its kinda weird, but theres 2 reload sounds for shotguns i like a lot (regarding games from the xbox 360 and ps3 era). The first being the sounds from the shotgun in half life 2 which is also basically the same as the shotgun reload from duke nukem forever but its a faster reload in half life 2. Its somewhat similar to that with the spas 12 reloads here from the original mw2 and mw3, but not completely. The second being from black ops 1 where it made a sound that was like bottles or something gently clanging around most times when you would reload. It wasnt exclusive to shotgun reloads, but still was there with them. I wish they would implement that sound from black ops 1 reloads into black ops 6 when it releases, but thats probably an unpopular opinion and not gonna happen.

MW III actually doesn't press the carrier latch. You can see that the player's thumb is just under the button.
