I think that it is even worse on defense because all the ops either have terrible guns or no utility LITERALLY not allowing you to bring any form of utility if you want to win a gun fight.

Maestro or Kapkan on the board I’ll counter with brava, same or iq if see valk or vigil. Back when there was no repick droning was essentially throwing cause once u picked ur line up u were set, so why waste a drone.
Yeah we uh, aren't far. I've actually messed with this and pistols are by far and away the fastest class, with an ads speed of upward of 0.19, and if you hit the first headshot, you win. There's a theory and solid logic here, it'd just need some good practice. I want to see this happen.

I only came back to play with some friends who got the game recently. Ubisoft clearly has no idea how to balance the game, the attackers feel way too weak compared to the defenders and the recoil of nearly every gun is straight up horrible. I won't even talk about ranked 2.0, sadly they took out everything that made siege unique and fun for the sake of balance and pros.

What a sad state of affairs. I actually love Siege as a game concept, though the dev team just really keeps throwing their excrement at us as if they want to make us not want to play.
@@soundrogue4472Nah, even if people stop playing they will just move on to the next big thing and leave it to rot like many other game devs have done to their games before. The only way siege can becone the great game it was always supposed to be is if a team that actually cares about the game being fun and not just looking at data and tweaking numbers takes over.
What is it now, but a 5v5 hero shooter? No really, I used to love the concept. But the concept I loved was the anti terrorist special force going in with a free pass on refacing the building's layout. I loved that it was an hardcore shooter. You had a team, an objective, a gun and a compass. You could be creative in your approach. Hide in the shadows, risk your head by peeking early, lock down hallways with a murder hole... It was just unlimited. That more serious and immersive vibe coupled with a freeing gameplay was what I loved. But that's also what was taken away.
Didnt matter too much at the beginning of the game. But the 1.5 helps with easy and/or sneaky head shots. The game at the beginning wasnt made to revolve around one shot headshots and it felt like the 1 shot mechanic was still a problem when i stopped playing a few years ago.
Most reticles in the game suck. Holo is decent, but it's so hard to shoot at range with it because of how many details, colors and clutter there is. Acog is good, but you lose peripheral vision and fighting close range can be hard to track. 1.5 is a balance of not being too much zoom for close range, not taking away peripheral vision, while helping you shoot at range and discern objects more clearly. But most importantly, the reticle was really good. It was probably a bit strong as it had very little down side, but I think the bigger problem is that to play 1x sights, you need to play stretch rez or you won't see shit.
This balancing method SCREAMS “we are looking at numbers and nothing else,” nerfing everything Jäger has except his gadget seems like they saw the numbers and wanted to curb it, not giving a damn why the pick rate was high in the first place or if it would even be fun
Nah, it screams we know what the problem is but can't do anything about it in the shorterm, so we are kneecapping the ops fragging power till we get around to doing a more complicated rework of their gadget. Do they then adjust the power of the operator after the gadget rework? Nope, not in the slightest, and the operator is left in a terribly unfun state. Then there are the frags which they outright gave up on doing their intended rework for because it was too complicated and instead turned them into a meme with zero skill expression that isn't worth taking over flashes.
I just realized the brilliance of this video editing style after watching it for the 3rd time. I swear that they're going to say at some point, "being shot through the wall and dying is unfair because you never see your opponent so we have decided to get rid of destructable surfaces".
@@mamuebav okay let's be honest dying to bullet holes in a wall or getting spawn killed through a barricade that you couldn't even tell was broken wasn't fun at all that's actually a good change
@@mamuebavBullet holes were legitimately ridiculous though. You literally couldn't do anything about it besides putting a drone in the common spots and hope your prefire beat their nasty angle. Which, granted is a solution but as time goes on, the sheer amount of nonsense you have to do as set up before even making your plays is ridiculous. I preferred longer rounds for exactly this reason. Having more time for each round discouraged these playstyles. Having more time slows down the game and encourages the more tactical experience.
Ironically that would actually make the game easier for most bosses, as shield poking would be the meta. It would also make the community about 75% worse as most shield players I've seen do not have any concept of timing or spacing
It’s actually the opposite, the community wasnt getting better they were getting braindead, dependent on gunskill with the strategic aspect being undermined when it’s far easier to tdm
@@UnPokemon People hated the introduction of YET ANOTHER arbitrary dump stat in the "build your character your way, so much variety, wow" video game (Acrobatics). Absolutely. However, dodging is THE meta in Dark Souls 2 because that game gives rolling the most i-frames if you invest into Acrobatics. So ironically, they didn't nerf dodging, but they did force players to spec into it. And it just so happens that if you spec into Acrobatics, it makes any non-shield build better...oops. It's still a great game tho, but that was definitely the "forward assist" of design choices in video games lol
Something I'm noticing with this video is that 3-armors are shunned heavily and Ubisoft isn't doing shit about it. They're literally using that as a frickin punishment nerf. It's like putting the operator on timeout. You'd think if they wanted the game to be less Call of Duty they would address that.
my final straw was the nerfs to bullentproof things like mira and meastro. like why the hell would this thing be able to stop BULLETS if you can bang against it with a plastic stock and shatter it
@@BlinchixOfRiviaIt still isn't a bad thing in and of itself. It's just that Ubisoft is fucking incompetent in balancing it somehow because it's fucking easy like there is an example of what they could've done in this video but they decided both ops need to be nerfed for some reason.
@@NewYorks_ If the guns never get used you balance the gun to suit the character it was made for. Putting an FMG on attack or an AR-15 on defence is just so lazy.

Can never forgive them for taking away bucks nades, because he ‘overshadows’ sledge. Made worse is that then they NERF sledge because he is picked too much afterwards
funny that ppl keep bring up the fact they nerfed sledge, or the (wow, this ops good, lets nerf sledge), when he's literally only gotten 1 nerf since he's been in the game. and thats him losing his smg11 hardbreaches are way better on buck anyways...
@@astolfo4346Bucks main use is vertical play, throwing nades down on people from above to force them into bad spots for easy picks was 100% a better play style for buck than hardbreach charges. Sledge becoming a 1 speed is also 100% a nerf. The L85 has also been nerfed several times specifically because of sledge pick/win rates.
The counter strike bit is even more relevant when you know they chose to make the aug and SSG cheaper so more people would use them, see they're good, and then they bumped the price back up, they got people using a new gun without changing the stats or nerfing anything else
if you've been following csgo back in the day you can see that its devs actually have the same "one right way to play the game, no fun allowed" mentality unfortunately. The way they gutted all the upgraded pistols, especially the CZ (the deagle no longer 2-shotting to the body against armor seems an atrocity of the highest order, but I wasn't playing as actively at that point), and the AUG debacle come to mind.
Still love the fact this "tactical shooter" has the operators have the ads speed of an old geriatric person due to how slow it is. It's bs for ads almost taking a full second each time, certainly means good things for frost mats, if anything good has come out of it it's that only.
I am not a Special Forces-level soldier. I am not even a soldier. I have, however, participated in a shoothouse before, more or less for fun; a friend made a few fake guns that were roughly the same size and weight as real-world guns. I was able to aim down sights faster and shoot faster than anyone in modern R6.
It either that or some higher up is going "this is now how you play the game NERF IT NOW" and the dev just have to or they'll get repaced with someone who will Either or honestly
Or they could switch up designers regularly and they all have very different balancing philosophies. Considering this game’s been around for nearly 10 years, you can tell they’ve changed a dozen at this point.
In XDefiant, Ubisoft's another multiplayer FPS, there's a a really ironic thing about that. There is a faction that has aesthetics and active abilities based on Siege. Do you know what is its passive? Cancelling out enemy headshots, so they count as body shots instead!
siege doesn’t actually have a 1/shot headshot mechanic. it just uses an insane headshot multiplier. in shooting range you can see it, certain weapons at 20+ meters through walls won’t 1 shot headshot mechanic
At least Ubisoft communicates what they're trying to do. With the detailed patch notes, developer commentary, and win rate graph, we can tell exactly what mistakes they made as soon as the patch drops!
The issue ive always found is if you balance a game by getting opinions from high level players or even around high level play, everyone who is casual bitches and moans, but then if you balance around fun in a competitve game like siege everyone who think theyre good or dies to something "fun" calls it no skilled and need nerfs. Also doesnt help youve got narcisstic mind games from people where they want acogs in the game, but then whine and bitch when its the best option. Theres also the fact non pros and people who arent super high elo will reiterate what someone whos good says just to get good boy internet points. Everyone wants to collectively bitch and moan about somethin and how it needs nerfs but then when everything gets nerfed into the ground theyre suprised. Look at league of legends for even more examples. Nothing will ever be balanced and fun in a pvp setting. Theres always gunna be someone hopped up on copium blaming something about the game.
Gadgets are often getting so nerfed, reworked, and inconsistent to use, I feel like my gun skill is the only reliable consistent thing I can use and control.
4:36 Tachanka also had his original voice actor replaced which took away all of the soul of the character imo. Anatoly Zinoviev was a very respected person in the community, who actively interacted with fans and read out his iconic voicelines for whoever asked. Keep in mind they only replaced him for “scheduling reasons” meaning that the only reason for the recasting was just them wanting to get his shitty rework out and over with.
Crazy that making guns feel awful was their first go-to for a lot of pick rate changes, when they are developing basically a hero shooter and not looking at the hero's "abilities" first before ruining the core of the shooter.
all of this can be summarzied with a single statement: No one who made Rainbow Six Siege still works on the game. I dont think a single original developer or director or artist is still on the team. Its being ran into the ground by inexperienced hires who dont have any passion for it or the genre. All of the directors were probably replaced by people with Esports experience and the entire project shifted towards an ultra competitive meta that they dont understand.
game metas shouldnt be constantly tweaked, but allowed to run their own course. Entirely changing the meta every 3 months signifies the developer doesnt believe their own playerbase is intelligent. If a meta comes to exist, players will find ways to counter it. Denying the players that ability is shameful
Agree with your first comment. Started playing in year 1, and while the game certainly had issues it felt like the team was doing their best to pull things together into a competent and coherent game. After it became more successful and Ubisoft higher ups took notice the dev team was expanded and eventually replaced, and with that the original vision was lost. This is probably most obvious in the map design: wide open hallways, rooms with only 1 or 2 solid pieces of cover. Villa is the worst offender in that regard. I can't say that the game's identity from Y1 is the same as now.
e-Sports ruined Siege. e-Sports really ruined gaming in general. I miss it when it was only a few clans like OG MW2 FaZe and not whatever it is rn. Seems like every change is made to cater to Pro League needs, and not what the community needs.
I downloaded the game in order to play it again, as i really loved clearing the levels with different gadgets, weapons e.t.c. I couldn't find it, played a couple cluster f#ck what casual games and uninstalled it.
I played r6 purely for that. I played it so much that I memorised T spawns on Plane and House. I and my best friend used to challenge each other to see who could take down the most Ts on realistic difficulty. i loved having to be tactical and methodical, slowly moving through the map, listening out for shuffling or footsteps where one missed audio cue meant i was spectating my friend. i also miss the 💣 guys who would be really tough to kill on realistic unless you flanked them and disabled their primer. wish they put more love into t-hunt it was such a good time for me and my friends. won't be playing any more now that it's gone, and even if they added it back the inability to take people down through walls and the nerf to frags drastically removes any tactical aspect to it.
not to mention the tachanka change, that turret was so fun on t-hunt defence as you could set up a choke point while your friend played as castle to watch your back and cut off flanks. that turret made a point feel like a fortress under siege. now his GL feels awful to use and is so useless as enemies can walk straight through it, and his lmg being a weapon makes his other weapon redundant, and turns him into just another frag operator rather than a "set up a choke point and turn the point into a bunker" operator

I’m honestly not surprised to hear that it took 6 months on/off to edit this video. It’s inspiring to see this level of dedication. Keep going and I’m sure you can be really big one day!
The balancing is half the reason I stopped playing Siege. I literally used to bet with my friends on who was gonna get the dumbest, most out of nowhere and unnecessarily powerful nerf and Ubi just kept 1-upping themselves. I just slowly lost all will to play the game since every few months the game would basically be completely remade for the worse with little to no new content added to attempt to balance it out. Day after day I would log on, and day after day it was the same maps, with the same operators, using the same strats, over... and over... and over... and over again. The community is about as pleasant as burying your head in a fire ant nest, cheaters run the game and Ubi just doesn't seem to give a crap about solving it, and the new subscription is just them being so obvious that it's not about making a good or functioning product, it's about just printing money off the whales who are addicted. From what I've experienced, the majority of the community can basically be summed up as the "Consume product then get excited for next product" meme. When I still had my Reddit, anytime I would try bringing up the fact that Ubi was destroying the game, I would get just dozens of the dumbest takes I've ever read. Honest to God, I once had a dude tell me that bringing up the endless cheaters, lack of proper balancing, and the content drought as an attack on the inclusion of gay people into the game (I wish I was joking, the R6 Reddit community has actual fucking brain damage). The game has constant bugs and glitches that often last for multiple seasons or even entire years, it runs like the only thing holding it together is a 15-year old anemic hamster kept alive through the power of demon worship and child sacrifice, meanwhile the community just sits there and takes it. And if you raise even a single finger in protest you get blasted by an endless wave of room temperature IQ neckbeards basically telling you to shut up, stop asking questions and CONSOOM PRODUCT. Ubisoft has managed to starve and abuse the community to the point that the slightest hint at a new map or weapon is seen as the second coming of Christ. SBMM being in every single mode made it impossible to just have fun with your buddies, if you're not sweating your nuts off, you're gonna lose and you will lose rank, even if you're in Casual... no, wait... "sTaNdArD". There's no fun to be had anymore, every decision has made the game go from bad to worse and somehow Ubi continues to find new ways to ruin the game I used to love. I spent over 1,100 hours over 2 1/2+ years of my life on this game, I want it to be great, I want to come back and have this be my favorite game again, but the devs just have no clue what they're doing and quite frankly they need to be fired and replaced by competent people who know how to balance, are willing to make new content, and are willing to fix the game's issues. BTW really good video 10/10
I think you've pretty much nailed it. A company's only goal is to make money and Ubi isn't even trying to hide it. Meaning the people who see no problems with Ubi's actions, are the same ones who are willing to dump hundreds are dollars into pointless cosmetics. Also I think the problem with the current developers is a lack of direction. They aren't the same people who made the game originally, so they don't have the same vision for what the game should be. The seem to be lacking a clear direction to take the game in and what changes should be made. It seems their only real guidance is the operator's pick and win rates.
Decent takes, but its not as bad as you make it sound. Its bad, yes i wont deny that especially when it comes the balancing. But its not "quit the game" bad at least not for me. I still have fun loading up the game with the boys and just running around doing whatever i want without sweating and absolutely crush the competition (if im lucky 😂). But yeah you dont have to full on sweat to win, especially not with the new ranked 2.0 system. If you just accept that winning isnt everything and just make it a secondary objective to having fun with the boys then the game isnt near as bad. There are plenty of content creators out there who's content circles around being stupid and just having a good time, you dont need to sweat at every game to win and you dont have to play on a monotonous, orthodox way to win every game. Also interacting with the community at large is sorta optional, as it is with any game. If i wanted to interact with a community, i would go outside and interact with the people around me, not people on the internet with bad takes.

Siege is trying to become more and more like a tactical shooter, but what made it so successful is because of the snappy gun play combined with the high lethality of fights.
Guns are simultaneously too deadly and not deadly enough. headshots being instakills no matter what is actually an insanely unfun degree of randomness. It worked when guns were better and snappier because it rewarded precision but after massively nerfing ads all it does is turn fights into massive frustrating dice rolls with little skill. My shots are not going where i want them and i died because his shots, which are also going everywhere randomly, managed to nick my head
Every gun fight goes one of two ways, either someone gets instantly pixel sniped by a camper with an acog, or its a coin flip of who gets lucky with recoil. its like ubi is trying to make every gun fight a 50/50 at the expense of all fun.
This sound like someone that doent understand the game very well, Im guessing by camping you mean holding an angle which Is pretty normal thing in an fps game and swinging the person holding will always give you the advantage, learning to control recoil is very rewarding and if you know how and when to peek gunfight are far from a 50/50.
@@Gigopzplus swinging first registers on the server quicker than sitting and holding an angle. I will say though the ads changes and removal of 1.5 especially for attack makes it way harder to attack even though the game was already defender sided during that meta. I think defenders should keep acog and not get 1.5, but I think attackers should get the 1.5.
I ave no idea what your talking a put with the recoil. It really is pretty easy to control on most guns. If you’re having to get lucky with recoil to win a fight your just awful at the game
Sounds like you played like 3 matches of this game, full sprinted into a line of sight and got mowed down, and quit forever because you're horrible and dont know how to slow tf down and use drones or check common angles. This is siege not CoD. If you wanna turn your brain off and just run and gun, then black ops 6 is coming out pretty soon. You might would rather look into that.
Ubi misses that half the point of balancing is perception. You can nerf things, but nerf the parts that are already weak when possible so you can keep shit fun for the players. No one cares if something is strong so long as there’s counterplay.
We’ll just listen to the pros and balance our game based on their feedback. What could go wrong? It’s basically a win-win situation. *Famous last words*
Ubisoft has almost always had a problem with their balancing philosophy. For Honor and Siege are prime examples. There are more nerfs in Siege alone, than the entirety of the nerfs in the entire Super Smash Bros series, spanning more than 25 years, 5 games, and 44 patches, and 13 revision changes (a revision is when a game is released, but has a rerelease with underlying changes, such as being pre-patched, slightly altered, or fixing issues)
@@Gigopz cod has unrealistic recoil, highly trained military operators can mag dump without it hitting the roof. Guns don't have much recoil irl unless it's poorly designed.
@@person44222 And whats fun is purely subjective, just because you don't find Siege fun doesn't mean everyone else shares your opinion, you can go play other games, I will stick with Siege since I do find it fun.
I was pretty tired of what the devs were doing with this game but the final nail in the coffin for me in this game was when they nerfed Kali and framed it as a buff when she was already the most useless operator in the game at the time. It was something along the lines of "yeah we're buffing her by removing the guaranteed one shot down on torso shot (not kill, down) and adding damage dropoff to her sniper so she wont kill, down, or do anything past 25m with a 12x scope sniper".
when they nerded clash by “buffing” her smg by making it full auto that has so much recoil you cant shoot past 10m away, compared to the old one that was the two shot burst that had low recoil so you can use skill to defend yourself. Or when they nerfed Maestros acog and his lmg so many times when his cameras were out of line and nerfed him another couple of times before they finally got the cameras, and not reverting the lmg buffs.
Rainbow is like... the only game I've quit because of balance changes. A thousand hours in it, too. It's not even any specific change that did it, it was the constant unending downward trajectory of terrible decisions spawning more terrible decisions progressively making everything feel worse to play. It felt like every single patch had a new clown ass change that wasn't asked for or was obviously the exact expected outcome of the change they made last time. For years. The only game I've seen similar stuff in is Overwatch, and I think it's the exact same problem in both cases. They have a way things "should be" and hammer any outliers to that vision into submission irrespective of cascading consequences or player feedback. Player expression and meta isn't seen as the natural progression of strategy, it's seen as data points to curb.
Riot is also doing the same thing with Valorant like what Ubisoft is doing with Siege, nerfing characters and weapons, etc, for the sake of pro play and e-sports, outright saying Viper was nerfed BECAUSE OF PRO PLAY. (I was maining her since closed beta and she was nerfed multiple times simply because of her high pick rate and cus she was great, compared to other agents) Viper's recent nerf is the reason I quit the game, ruined the fun and ruined the experience. I am tired of devs making nerfs to good balanced characters instead of buffing the bad ones. It's so exhausting seeing great games and parts of games ruined because of pros. E-sports ruined competitive gaming/gaming in general imo.
@@aidenbrenneman2302 Hah, funny. Even if that's the case and isn't just another arbitrary addition to try to quiet the playerbase down, it's coming after years of aimless balance changes and negligence followed by a move to a "sequel" that overpromised and underdelivered followed by more of the same crappy balance decisions. What we wound up getting during that move was primarily an excuse to overhaul their monetization system, which replaced a system built on gambling that free players could at least participate in through play to one that hinges on fomo and necessitates ludicrous cosmetic buy ins. The most significant balance changes stemmed entirely from a bandaid fix for the chronically low tank population, a result of having made tank so terrible to play that players refused to touch the role and ballooned queue times. Largely the role remains miserable, and the consequences from the change are so wide reaching they've created an entire new sect of their playerbase that wants to revert the only substantial change in format justifying the move to a "sequel". The fact that they're listening to that is hardly worth much when they're the architects of their own destruction, and that's putting aside any debate about the actual viability of such a change. It's probably getting relegated to a side mode that's going to struggle to maintain a base large enough to find games anyhow.
Alexander Karpazis (Creativ Director) and Joshua A. Mills (Game Director) destroyed the game entirely. I hold these two fully responsible for the disastrous state the game is in.
The house rework was right before i quit the game. Played it since launch, but that patch marked the obvious sign that the game was going in the wrong direction. The "balance" patches were clear evidence
i played since launch as well, and I stopped playing after they completely changed tachanka. Im glad I did because that quite literally snowballed into ubisoft brain blasting their game into a garbage dumb of a game. It has its title and memories of when it was fun, and thats about it
I had to delete my comment that I posted before sending this video because you pretty much hit the mark on everything and everything I mentioned in my comment you also mentioned. Bhopping, everyone having the exact same loadout to create balance, etc. This video is a masterclass on everything wrong with the game and you did so well making the video I'm genuinely impressed. Thank you for making this.
imo the most defender oriented advantage currently is pixel-peeking. I've lost count of the times I've breached a seemingly empty room but heres a random guy way in the corner of the next room over and boom ur shot. My idea for a fix for this is to have a proper muzzle. Currently the bullet comes from the sight. Moving the simulated muzzle to the actual muzzle will make peeking more difficult
I always hated how I died because I saw 1/16th of the enemy's head, and he still killed me. That doesn't even make any fucking sense. How do you see someone's hair and die?????
@@choppergunner8650 the fucking game's alien physics, the scope of the gun is the one that spits bullet. That's why u die before u even see the full head of the enemy mate.
@@HoxFox22 yeah, I always noticed how I killed someone before I even fully finished aiming. The funny bit is that theoretically, by using the gun with the most fire rate, you'd probably get better luck firing a bullet salvo and getting a random headshot than aiming center mass and killing someone.
The balancing of this game is like a never ending cycle, change for the sake of change so things don't seem the same season to season. I would much rather have definitive balancing changes that point into a direction like the grenade nerf which is a cornerstone change if they don't backtrack on it. I would also like a change like this on defenders so they streamline the acogs and actually present a choice for the defender instead of "I pick wamai bc he has acog" a much more player focused approach should be "I pick this operator but should I also put an acog on him?". But nevermind with ubisoft's trackrecord we can expect years upon years of "X defender with acog was too strong so we removed acog and gave it to Y defender" "Oh no Y defender after given acog is also too strong it's time for a recoil nerf".
I agree there is no clear direction. The team working on the game now is different from the one that made the game. It seems the new team is struggling to find a clear vision or direction to take the game in. The only guidance they seem to have is the pick and win rates.
@@Spaadez I have to disagree completely, the direction to me is clear, slower and tactical game and less tdm running and gunning playstyle, I agree with all the nerfs and thing the game is finally going in a direction its supposed to.
@@Gigopz bro imma be honest, siege is not a tactical game. The older games were but siege is just a hero based arena shooter and the devs don't want to admit that. If they did the balancing decisions would've been more proactive instead of reactive.
@@GCheckCentral It is a tactical game, the older games were singleplayer mostly and not even close to what Siege is trying to do, balancing is mostly reactive since predicting the meta in 6 months is very hard even for them and they have done a good job on balancing the ops. Playing the game like an arena shooter doesn't get you far and if I thought the older games did a better job I would play them, but I don't enjoy any of the old R6 games.
which is why they did the ads speed nerf. to punish ppl who just pick an op for an acog. 1.0x's were already better before hand, then they also give them an ads speed bonus. no-one with more then 5 braincells should even be picking acogs rn cus they just arnt as good as 1.0x's. pretty much the only good reason to ever bring them is to spawn peak
"We know this will be an unpopular change" Do you want people to stop playing your game ? If you know people won't like it, why tf are you doing it ? You don't have to fix something that isn't broken. And if it was broken, then the change would be a popular one, right ?
Compare this to the recent HD2 patch, they realized players were using the orbital precision on moving units, which they didn't intend, so they buffed it to be more useful for how players use it instead of forcing you to use it the way they wanted
Don't rush to praise HD2 balancing. I still remember them taking the Eruptor out back and shooting it in the head, and making the rocket launcher on the patriot unable to aim properly.
@@PowerfulSkeleton The eruptors shrapnel effect and massive ammo capacity was very silly, this patch is clearly a step in the right direction in terms of how things are balanced, as to actually making updates they're clearly very short on actual testing
There was a recent insider info from Ubi, where the person leaking the info said that the devs working in Ubi right now on FPS games have NEVER played an FPS in their entire lives. Many also just generally hate guns. Which is the reason Xdefiant is dying, and Siege weapon balancing has gotten worse over time as the high ranking devs left the team.
Many of us are too invested to dare venture towards any other title. And the mechanics and gameplay is so unique that we ain't got no other option. we play for nostalgia and that sliver of hope that Ubisoft will come to their senses... one day.
@@FlashySenap The nostalgia of what ? I played the game since day 1 and its in a far better state today than it was back then, hell it was barely playable for years with all the technical and balance issues it had.
I was surprised to see such a low sub count for the production value, this watches a lot better than most of the slop coming out of top creators rn. Always nice to see someone ragging on Ubisoft's horrific management of their properties in such a passionate and polished way. I hope your channel continues to take off. :D
I remember when the good thing to do as a defender was to lock down the bombsites and prevent attackers' entry. Now everyone (including 1 speed ops) roam around the map. Everyone thinks they're Cav or Vigil. Not gonna lie, what ended up ruining this game was e-Sports. Pro League brought this game down as far as it could go, because people are always looking forward to the next big strategy, not trying to discover shit on their own. I had a friend who literally spent hours on custom lobbies trying to replicate what he saw on Pro League, and me, someone who never really played the game well (mostly a solid Gold II-I player), I never enjoyed how I had to learn and adapt to these Pro League tactics because that's the only way he would play the game, trying to replicate their tactics. That shit got tiring, and alongside with Ubisoft's constant map reworks and operator balances that always turned out ass, I grew distasteful of the game by Year 6, and I eventually stopped playing altogether. I remember when Tachanka was literally the worst operator in the entire game (he already had the shield to the LMG), and NOBODY picked him. I started picking him out of fucking memery, but I actually developed good strategies that with correct teamwork was literally impossible to beat. Mute could defeat incoming drones, Jäger would destroy incoming grenades, and it forced people to expose themselves to the might of the Russian Lord if they wanted to enter the bombsite. I actually did win rounds using that fucking thing and actually got good at it. Anyone who'd try and get close enough for a knife kill would be met with a semi-auto shotgun to the face. Since they reworked Tachanka into a complete mess of an operator, and the maps all changed, the meme is dead, the tactics are gone and the fun is over. And that's ONE operator I'm talking about. I could spend the entire day writing about how they ended every single operator because someone was probably bitching about it. Like Glaz and his smoke grenades and his sight that got changed so now you have to stand still for it to work, Twitch with a jumping drone, etc.
Even the term "e-sports" is a ridiculous concept about bringing baggage from athletics (already a clown show that makes me feel bad for athletic people tbh) and ruining gaming with all the same rules, restrictions, and money corrupting the purity of what it's about. These companies are all anti-fun and they want to exploit people for money. If they cared about their customer base, it wouldn't be like it is.
@@HateBear-real I'm not a 90s kid (born in 2000), but I like how back then they had proper gaming tournaments. Like, a bunch of random kids that could compete in a tournament to win something. I believe the first gaming tournament ever was Atari's Swordquest series, way back in the early 1980s, and the prizes were fucking surreal. Literally stuff made out of gold and precious stones. Nowadays, we literally have a bunch of guys wearing dry-fit T-shirts, with team names, fucking numbers on their backs, like, are you for real? What's even the point of a number on the back of the shirt if the announcer's going to call you by your nickname? It's not like, say, hockey, where the ref hands out a penalty by saying "(team city/state name) (shirt number) (penalty minutes) (reason for penalty)", like "Edmonton, 97, 2-minute minor for tripping", "Boston, 63, 5-minute major for boarding", etc. It's honestly just a bunch of guys with a wannabe sports team (fuckers even have drafts, like they're in the NHL or the NBA), getting paid to click on a screen. Unlike when you have true gaming tournaments, like for example, EVO, with the classic, most badass moment of gaming history in EVO 2004 with Daigo. That was ONE guy doing it, and he didn't even have a sports shirt. Just some guy with an arcade controller and that's it. That moment is probably more legendary than anything from e-Sports history. Back to R6, I honestly started feeling that every change the game made was "Pro League first, community later". Seems like you couldn't meme anymore on the game, because "oh, we're removing C4 from this operator, and this operator's gadget is nerfed, and this operator's getting buffed, etc". I know some nerfs/buffs were necessary, like fucking Blackbeard with an indestructible shield on his SCAR, or Buck's C8 having an indescribable amount of recoil for some reason, or even Glaz being basically an useless operator. But when you go out of your way to rework operators and maps entirely, turn them all into absolute pieces of dogshit and expect your community to like it, you're just out of touch with reality. And the sad part is, it's easy for Adderall nerds on Pro League to adapt to the new mechanics, but it's hard for the overall community to adapt. Therefore, they care more about Pro League than their own community.
I don't get how devs in many games don't seem to understand this; there will always be a meta. Doesn't matter what you do, as long as there is more than one option and they're not the same, something will be seen as better. However, newsflash, that's fine! Players care about this a greater amount if the meta is 1-or-more of; boring, easy to use, unfun to play against, (and more...).
This is top tier quality content, hope the algorithm blesses it one day To add a bit of constructive criticism though - the video had an "old Maxor"-esque style with lots of text and images popping up for but a moment. While very impressive, I bet people underestimate how much work all of this actually is, I am not a fan of the end product entirely The pros: Gives the impression that a lot is going on, "comedic chaos" that never loses tempo The cons: I have to choose between missing out on the content, or annoyingly rewinding the video every instance there isn't enough time to comprehend what I just saw. Infinitely worse on a phone than a PC, but the latter breaks the flow regardless, while the former makes me feel like I'm missing out on stuff I know the comment may sound more negative than positive, but I'd rate the video 8.5-9/10. Very impressive stuff

crazy how the go through all this 'thinking' to 'balance' grenades. you know what wouldve done that? reducing it to one so it still has the same destructiveness and balanced out with a c4
remember glaz’s rework that was supposed to make his smoke sight better so hed be picked more, and they just gave him frags so you didnt even take smokes anymore?
I honestly thought the Acog coming back would be great for the game, but I made the mistake of thinking they would be mainly giving defenders 1.0s while most attackers had 2.5, so that attackers could have advantage at range and on holding angles while defense could reposition faster and have an advantage in closer range. Unfortunately what we got was instead practically every insane gun on defense having a 2.5 so defenders can now spawn peek and hold angles from narnia with absolutely no counterplay
I completely agree with you, all my buddies just say whomp whomp when ever ubi removes the fun in siege because they are all to focused on competive they won’t even play secure area or hostage anymore
I haven't touched casuals since i started playing the game. And even back then i didnt care for hostage, would always have someone griefing with tchanka, goyo, or id youre attacking then fuze. They would just outright burn or blow up the hostage and end the round basically immediately. Secure area is OK, i wouldnt mind playing it, if the gameplay was designed around that game mode. But the gameplay is designed around Bomb, i dont like trying to use Acog + slow ADS speeds in a mode where youre basically constantly being revealed to the enemy team.
fr. my best memories of siege don't involve sweating my balls of to maintain a positive kd in ranked. Its of not trying very hard to do anything besides mess around and have fun.
It's crazy how you can use this video for helldivers 2 Both arrowhead and Ubisoft fight their player base both of them hate popular weapons and a meta existing
Taking away cooking frags did remove a skill aspect of the game, but that shit genuinely was a problem. They were so good that they made any operator that had them instantly better and there was nothing you could do to counter them if you didn’t have jager or wamai
Or because you could count on one hand how many ops had nades. They play an important role in the game as THE secondary for removing bullet proof utility and forcing defenders out of power positions. It's a niche that only the frag grenade filled properly. They were a vital part of many sight executes requiring someone to bring them. Say if only one set of nades needs to be brought every round on average and only 4 operators have access, no shit their pick rates are going to skyrocket. If ubi gives nades to one under performing operator there WILL be a huge surge in picks, if they gave out nades to five under performing operators the individual impacts would be much smaller. To countering nades just get good. If you got blown up by a cooked nade that means you were holding one vulnerable position for long enough for the attacker to realize were you are, cook their nade, and then throw it. Never hold one angle for that long, or if its an importation power position yeah bring jager or wamai. Even then the attacker has to already be in position to line up the throw or have to take extra time to get there. One thing I will admit though is that depth charged is really hard to deal with and what ultimately killed the gadget. That said they are really uncommon out side of pro and top ranked and it isn't my belief that such a small fraction of the community should be held over the much larger casual/semi-casual population. This is all just my opinion and, as you can probably tell, the frag nade changes really upset me. Nades existed just fine in sieges meta for YEARS and I think its sad to see such a long line of questionable balance decisions from ubisoft kill something so beloved.
@@EllioGatieIf somebody is holding a an important vulnerable position, they should be defeated through interesting sight lines, not a simple and brain dead grenade cook. The maps are well designed enough that no one angle is truly fool proof, there is always a possible rotate to get an angle on somebody. And if that rotate isn't timely feasible then it should be your teammate's job. This is the game Ubi wanted to create, a game where the complex maps they designed get used to their full amplitude. A game where teams have to carefully consider how to divide into squads and what squads should accomplish what tasks in order to get the right sight lines opened. It's not perfect by any means, I think Azami's ability to play retroactively around attacker's pushes is fundamentally flawed and should be looked into, but all in all I actually like the game better now. The gunplay changes are also designed to serve the importance of sight lines. Camping is very powerful and it should be. If somebody is holding an angle you should have the disadvantage if you were to push him without flashes. And that's good. You shouldn't just swing him and ooh boy peeker's advantage 3 speed kill him. Just look at pro play from before and after these changes, you see way more of the maps getting utilized, defenders working hard on and allocating resources to defend walls so the attackers don't get the crucial sight lines. Walls which wouldn't have mattered as much before.
i don't even like siege but this is such a damn good video the pacing the humor the editing is just all so damn entertaining keep it up man this is amazing
Imagine if the Rocket League developers noticed players starting to flip reset off of the ball and then just removed the ability to do that because it's not how they want thier game to be played lmao
the energy of the video and the "adhd" editing was done on accident but its also symbolizes the fun the game had being sucked away as the adhd threw the video "chills out". a really good analogy of the game.
Year 1 player here. Great video and ahhhh omggggg... I played a lot of Siege overall, some periods on and off (life). After having last played a lot during the TDM meta, which was diff from OG Siege but fun cause since 2016 my guns-kill got much much better, so when I booted up the game again recently (after the whole game overhaul) like ... jeeesusussss.... the game felt hooorrible, unfamiliar, clunky, awkward, slow, recoil was uncomfortable (because lots of recoil is okay but this felt just wrong) etc...after playing for a few hours thinking id get used to the new game as Ive always done, I just realised I simply wasn't having fun at all and all my fav ops where trash, and their gadget useless even compared to TDM where I like to often use utility cause it was more unexpected, like come on ubi... Crazy, I will always always love Siege so this was heartbreaking to see the game in this state. I am literally scared to start playing again because this was rough ... sad
The game Squad had an Infantry Overhaul Update, where they made ADS slower and guns harder to handle. It’s the same philosophy but is Player skill and Teamwork. They nerf player ability’s to encourage team work and making it a numbers game. A majority of the community like the update.
Yeah but to be fair that game is balls to the wall realistic or at least I tries to be, guns have weight, they can be clunky at times I’ve handled rifles before IRL, but siege is a game where the bullet goes where the reticle in a scope goes, you can see the forehead of an enemy but because your cranium is on his reticle youre gone, even though his muzzle is jammed into the wall
I remember mastering buck since year 2 when he “had one of the worst recoil guns” according to almost every good player. I got good with a reflex sight and Andes when he was one of the lowest picked operators. And for some reason they decide to remove frags 5 years later because he magically became overpowered when every other good gun now had worse recoil? And in y9 he is one of the top picked ops again. If he gets more nerfs I’m done
They might remove his stun grenades if anything but thats not really the end of the world. Not much you can do to buck at least nothing i can think of off the top of my head except mess with his secondary gadgets. Messing with his gun does nothing as anyone can just go into the shooting range for 15 minutes and figure out the new recoil, as allergic as people seem to be when it comes to using that mode.
As a friend of mine used to say "Balancing should almost never come in nerfs, but boosting the most niche stuff so everybody can have a great time without feeling useless"
Guess what! They decided to nerf Ash just like you predicted! And not her speed no that's too smart. They nerfed the mag size of the r4c. Which also hurts RAM. BRAVO UBISOFT
The way I feel about it, is that the game is supposed to be a tactical shooter. They shouldn't remove the ability for people to shoot just because they want to push gadget usage, and they shouldn't nerf guns because gadgets are too strong. They should make the gadgets viable, and then make the gunplay match the gadgets. Make players want to use both the gadget and the gun, and not just pick an operator for one or the other. But then again they're the ones that made the balancing to Ghost Recon: Breakpoint and gave the players the option to beat the game within the semi-cinematic first area and not think about it.
This is a horrible analogy and it’s embarrassing too even as a joke. The modern ccp developed China amazingly. It brought hundreds of millions out of poverty and turned it into a superpower. Development and humans rights aren’t mutually exclusive lmao.
Playing the old Tachanka was some of the most fun I've had with a shooter because of those random moments where sometimes the enemy team just decides to do a stupid and run into my turret's line of fire one at a time, and those rare moments where I actually felt smart like one time when I got spotted with a drone then stepped away from my turret to set up an ambush for the very obviously incoming enemy (and still almost lose the gunfight). I was pretty sad to hear he got updated, though I haven't touched the game in years.
Reinstalled and played Siege a couple days ago. Took 3 hours to aim down sights. Uninstalled after three matches. Now I understand why so many people complain about Siege being "no longer what it used to be".
I stopped playing the game around year 4 season 2 or 3, and I'd like to thank you for doing this video. It was really fun to watch and I got angry about changes they did during my time. It's because Siege has so much goddamn visual clutter that it is impossible to see the enemy without a zoom.
Didnt matter too much at the beginning of the game. But the 1.5 helps with easy and/or sneaky head shots. The game at the beginning wasnt made to revolve around one shot headshots and it felt like the 1 shot mechanic was still a problem when i stopped playing a few years ago.
@@klyxesyou’d be glad to know hit reg doesn’t even let you hit your headshots 70% of the time
Most reticles in the game suck.

@@The_KM_Projects Yep, those fuckers removed the bullet holes and there are only bullet "spots" on the walls in the game now

Ubi nerfing guns when the community get too good is like fromsoft nerfing dodging because people can beat bosses without getting hit
Ironically that would actually make the game easier for most bosses, as shield poking would be the meta. It would also make the community about 75% worse as most shield players I've seen do not have any concept of timing or spacing
Such a good analogy
They kinda did that in Dark Souls 2 and surprise, many people hate that game for it
It’s actually the opposite, the community wasnt getting better they were getting braindead, dependent on gunskill with the strategic aspect being undermined when it’s far easier to tdm
That's the problem, the R6 devs don't think, they just throw out random patches and hope it works out.
a good half of the operators are 3 armors, despite having operator models the size of twigs

my final straw was the nerfs to bullentproof things like mira and meastro. like why the hell would this thing be able to stop BULLETS if you can bang against it with a plastic stock and shatter it
Recycling weapons was literally the beginning of the end of any decent balancing
Pretty much they blame it on licensing. Which is bs cos the amount of fictional guns that came after that. But really they are just lazy devs.

Then they nerf grenades as a whole and dont roll back the changes on either operator.
funny that ppl keep bring up the fact they nerfed sledge, or the (wow, this ops good, lets nerf sledge), when he's literally only gotten 1 nerf since he's been in the game. and thats him losing his smg11

Or they could switch up designers regularly and they all have very different balancing philosophies. Considering this game’s been around for nearly 10 years, you can tell they’ve changed a dozen at this point.
Next nerf: We are going to remove the headshot kill mechanic because we felt as the enemy wasnt given a chance to act and shoot aswell
Actually... That's true lol
You had me in the first half
Which that isn’t even consistent cause sometimes you can get “Hit Rejected” notifications. The game has fallen off so hard
And even then, they'll go on to make your gun practically useless anyways... Because, why not?

Crazy that making guns feel awful was their first go-to for a lot of pick rate changes, when they are developing basically a hero shooter and not looking at the hero's "abilities" first before ruining the core of the shooter.
all of this can be summarzied with a single statement:
No one who made Rainbow Six Siege still works on the game.
Denying the players that ability is shameful
ok LOL
@@TheSultan1470 Ubisoft artist burner account
Removing t hunt was completely ridiculous

All applies to Destiny 2 as well!

If I had to describe the gun fighting in 1 word, it would be frustrating.

I ave no idea what your talking a put with the recoil. It really is pretty easy to control on most guns. If you’re having to get lucky with recoil to win a fight your just awful at the game

It’s was super shorty for me, not just taking away from mozzie but just giving it to everyone else like Castle.
when they nerded clash by “buffing” her smg by making it full auto that has so much recoil you cant shoot past 10m away, compared to the old one that was the two shot burst that had low recoil so you can use skill to defend yourself.
Or when they nerfed Maestros acog and his lmg so many times when his cameras were out of line and nerfed him another couple of times before they finally got the cameras, and not reverting the lmg buffs.
man I haven't played siege in years yet this video was funny as hell. You deserve way more subs
The only difference is the OW devs are clearly trying to give the community what they want with the recent 6v6 testings

@@GCheckCentral It is a tactical game, the older games were singleplayer mostly and not even close to what Siege is trying to do, balancing is mostly reactive since predicting the meta in 6 months is very hard even for them and they have done a good job on balancing the ops.

@@choppergunner8650 Probably just mad your e-sports career failed
Esports ruin the fun in basically every game. Games will turn to shit when you balance them around proplay instead of, you know, keeping the game fun.
This is top tier quality content, hope the algorithm blesses it one day
To add a bit of constructive criticism though - the video had an "old Maxor"-esque style with lots of text and images popping up for but a moment. While very impressive, I bet people underestimate how much work all of this actually is, I am not a fan of the end product entirely
The pros: Gives the impression that a lot is going on, "comedic chaos" that never loses tempo
The cons: I have to choose between missing out on the content, or annoyingly rewinding the video every instance there isn't enough time to comprehend what I just saw. Infinitely worse on a phone than a PC, but the latter breaks the flow regardless, while the former makes me feel like I'm missing out on stuff

I honestly thought the Acog coming back would be great for the game, but I made the mistake of thinking they would be mainly giving defenders 1.0s while most attackers had 2.5, so that attackers could have advantage at range and on holding angles while defense could reposition faster and have an advantage in closer range. Taking away cooking frags did remove a skill aspect of the game, but that shit genuinely was a problem. They were so good that they made any operator that had them instantly better and there was nothing you could do to counter them if you didn’t have jager or wamai
honestly people do be forgetting that. Gridlock of all people got a surge in picks because she had frags and her trax stingers were secondary
Yea every casual player doesn't know the hell that was getting depth charged
Even Jager or Wamai didnt help if they decided to go from below and nade.

You know siege is not fun when I find overwatch to be more fun to play
The way I feel about it, is that the game is supposed to be a tactical shooter. They shouldn't remove the ability for people to shoot just because they want to push gadget usage, and they shouldn't nerf guns because gadgets are too strong.
They should make the gadgets viable, and then make the gunplay match the gadgets. Make players want to use both the gadget and the gun, and not just pick an operator for one or the other.
But then again they're the ones that made the balancing to Ghost Recon: Breakpoint and gave the players the option to beat the game within the semi-cinematic first area and not think about it.
i said it before and i'll say it again "The CCP's better at developing their country then ubisoft at developing their games."
This is a horrible analogy and it’s embarrassing too even as a joke. The modern ccp developed China amazingly. It brought hundreds of millions out of poverty and turned it into a superpower. Development and humans rights aren’t mutually exclusive lmao.

Blackbeard labeled with “Jesus Christ” is so true.
