    A simple pleasure in life like a great cookout in the woods is something easily taken for granted and never experienced by many due to the hustle and bustle of busy lives. Thanks for the reminder to slow down and enjoy the things that make us happy!

    Next time I catch a Brookie, I'm trying that! Now I really can't wait for ice fishing season. Honey and Garlic...yum! One reason we like your channel so much is because you do enjoy life, the outdoors and because you do seem to be a good, kind appreciative person. Have a great day.

    OK, Now I'm hungry. LOL Greetings again from the Adirondacks! I think a lot of people live these adventures through you and your videos because their time, location, or maybe condition doesn't allow them to. Its a gift that you give to them , every time they watch that maybe you dont even realize. I know I watch all of your videos, and I have the similar outdoors right here I know that take for granted all to often. Simply because they are great videos. Until the next one,Chuck, peace. :)

    Ever have a bear get close to you while cooking in the bush like that?

    • @ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors
      @ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors  Рік тому

      Yes I’ve had bears come up to me while fishing, hunting etc many many times. It doesn’t bother me in the least. They just come around and do their thing, never posing any harm to me. They’re just doing exactly what they are supposed to be doing….looking for a meal (just like the mink)

  • @spoonmonkey8971
    @spoonmonkey8971 Рік тому +1

    Great video as always, you made me hungry ! On the fat wood part I to dont have any luck finding fat wood but what I do is collect resin from pine trees and take some tiny kindling, sticks or wood shavings then melt to a boil the resin and dunk the wood in it leave it a little to soak and then take it out to dry and then put them in a back. They are natural matches when you throw a spark on them.

    • @ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors
      @ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors  Рік тому +1

      I’d love to look for some if I was ever in the right area. Like chaga, I’m sure when you get used to spotting it, it would come easier

    • @spoonmonkey8971
      @spoonmonkey8971 Рік тому

      @@ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors I've been told all resin trees have it and to look at old broken branches and tree stumps on logging lots or broken tree log because the resin accumulates in the bottom when the tree dies. Good luck 👍

    Hey Chuck! What will you guys ever do without fishing season being on. Lol. You know, that sure looked tasty. A meal fit for a king. Alder wood, when dry, makes the hottest fire. Dangerously hot. I figured a bear would’ve come out around with the smell of burnt honey. Best attractant for bears.

    • @ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors
      @ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors  Рік тому +1

      My son and I have burned honey. In fact; the very first time I even knew that was a thing was when a warden from Antigonish told me he used it on his bear bait. I dunno tho, I think I’d have most of the honey devoured before it made it to the burner 😂

    Question have you ever had to put an edge on your Mora knife ? I do lots of different things with mine and it still seems fairly sharp.
    Should I use a stone or would a draw sharpener work as well just wondering on your thoughts
    Take care and Thks for the video
    Ian

    • @ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors
      @ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors  Рік тому

      Hello my honey provider!!! 🍯 lol. I use a stone mainly on my mora knives however, I certainly have cheated on the draw down types as well. The edge stays on the mora pretty long as I’m guessing it’s good steel, and thick steel at that. I have about 3 of them and “abuse” them quite hard. But they seem to stand the test of time.
      Thanks again for the honey (and other yummies). I’m just literally sitting back with a cup of tea with honey in it as I answer a few comments 👍

    I see you like to cook with the cast iron skillet using butter (always butter, not margine - I agree).
    I likes to cook me fish in lard (Tenderflake preferably) - 3 blocks on the skillet. Why? Because when I am finished cooking, I set aside the pan and when she cools have retained most of the lard (still relatively white) - to be scooped up with a wooden spoon to be used at a later time - hmm hmmm good!
