Great video!! As another officer I see this all the time! Biggest thing I think is that it’s a sense of entitlement that people have! People feel as though they deserve something they don’t

    Good take Chuck.
Years ago before you revealed your profession I watched, and I mentioned to my wife.......I'm pretty sure he's in law enforcement......lol.....pegged ya right.
You couldn't be more on point, perspective is everything. And professions like law enforcement are increasingly hard potions to fill......for good reason. Everyone seems to be easily offended, or believe they can do a better job. If anyone reading is one of those people, I encourage them to enlist with the agency of enforcement in their area and do just that.
Comfort should be something we all enjoy. However no one appreciates comfort as much as the person who has experienced constant discomfort.
Great video, and although I am an infrequent commenter, and am a constant viewer. Great channel.
P.S.- ........yes, 25 years of enforcement and still working ;)

Very good example on the difference between being comfortable (and not) to support your theory and I really like it. Makes complete sense. I also wonder if people really are more easily offended today; or if it's perhaps just that we've been empowered to let others know whenever we're offended (by even the slightest things)? By having discussions like this and pointing out why it is sometimes silly to be offended, I feel the pendulum will swing back the other way because the majority of people will be tired of so often hearing how someone is offended. As a result, they too will stop saying, "I'm offended". I think people will always suffer from the same degree of offendedness (is that a word?-lol) and that'll depend on each individual person because we all get offended at a different rate, however, we just won't express it as often when the pendulum moves back to the middle. Right now the pendulum allows us to voice our concerns over even the smallest of offenses, where as when the pendulum swings back to the middle, we will only feel obligated to point out major offenses. Conversely, when it swings all the way to the other side, we will be shamed for sharing our feelings. Sadly, these pendulums seem perpetual and never seem to stop in the middle on a comfortable ground. Not sure if the "pendulum effect" is correct here, but I've seen it so often in my 60 years with ideologies, fashion, etc, that I think this "feeling thing" is just simply at the far end of the pendulum right now. Does this makes sense? Just my take.

    • @ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors
      @ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors  10 місяців тому +1

I agree with your comment for certain. The pendulum swings on all sorts of complex issues. It seems to be a natural thing, sometimes on the good side of things, sometimes on the bad side. Thanks for your perspective

You are absolutely correct, Chuck. It's too far gone, it has to play out.
IMO, we're in the end of days as told in the book of revelations.
Today's society is direct result of the marxist utopian ideology we've let creep into our institutions bit by bit.
It doesn't matter what you do or say, you will offend someone, somewhere.
If I may, keep on doing what you're doing, buddy, sharing the marvels of the great outdoors, the way God intended it to be.
More people need to get back to nature. A lot of our problems would evaporate.
Next thing you know, YT will demonitize you for expressing your opinion. Free speech has never been so threatened since WWII.
God Bless you and yours, Chuck.

I totally understand about this topic. As a truck driver, I hear every offensive thing possible tossed my way daily. My policy is; in return I kill them with kindness, in hopes it'll change their ways. No need to get all upset. It'll just ruin your day as much as theirs and in the end, nothing good came out of it. I find kindness is always the best payback cause then they have no idea how to still be mad at you. As an example once, I had a guy in a drive-thru really angry, irritated and offended over something I did and was calling me every name in the book. I could have let it ruin my day but instead when I got to the window I said that guy seems to be having a bad day so I'll pay for his stuff as well. Afterwards his bad attitude turned into a small smile and tipped his hat as we both went our own ways. 🤷‍♂️😎

Hi Chuck! Great video. This world has become an audience full of babies. No such thing as having your own opinion on anything without someone getting their panties in a bunch. Jealousy might even be a factor in some ways as well. Guess back in the day people dealt with being offended by fist fights and other ways physical . Just be yourself, say what you want. Folks will have to deal with it.

I don't do people-ing well...my opinion on things coming from a Gen-X point of view isn't taken well. I am disappointed on how people act nowadays! I know I'm one of the millions that actually know...when i was a kid my cellphone was the payphone, when the street lights came on I went home, I got the spoon when I got out of line, I KNEW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN RIGHT AND WRONG,and always respected my elders! All I know is that any day on this side of the dirt is a blessing, to treat people the way you want to be treated, forgive once but never forget and to always tell those close they are a a gift and loved as much as you can because tomorrow isn't promised! Love your example Chuck. As an older Gen X'er I almost never get offended and if on the very rare occurrence I feel I am, I just roll with the punches so to speak and let it slide. It's not worth the hassle. Really what good does it do, life's to short. I like what Jordan Peterson said a while back though. Why should a persons right to be offended Trump another persons right to freedom of speach? People these days are too delicate, hopefully they mature.

Just finished watching a couple of your videos, they are awesome, and i enjoyed your view on being offended. The truth of the matter is that , being easily offended is a sign of the direction society is going, producing individuals who are more self centered and inward focused. Having being indoctrinated by society, that all the problems and troubles one experiences is always the fault of someone else, never waking up to the fact that we can be our own worst enemies and that very likely our troubles and problems that we have are the result of just making poor choices. Hope fully that doesn't offend anyone 😁!

I agree 100% with your comments. I tend to lay blame (or at least some blame) on the widespread use of social media and the fact that anyone can sit in the comfort of their little space, reading a computer/tablet/phone screen and if something does not perfectly align with their beliefs or mood then they can say the nastiest things which starts a landslide of comments from offended people. And the saddest part is that the comments may not even be based on facts or could be taken totally out of context. And the keyboard warriors who start the landslide have gone off on some other tangent with no repercussions.... by the way, I'm totally offended that you are using a blue mug that doesn't even match your black and red shirt and black hat. wink, wink, nudge, nudge...

I subbed cuz you're a Newfie. I've never met a Newfie that was full of shit or a bad drinker and I've met quite a few in my time. There was one guy that threw me....but all the others were on the mark. Solid people. ...And the last thing I want to see is a vid from Montana or Ohio telling me my winters are hard to manage...lol. I'm in southern Ontario...we have tame winters....but shitty nonetheless. Cheers.

People are offended over everything. It’s the “in” thing to do. The world is in a mess and has gone way to far in that direction. No balance any more.

Chuck you’ve proved the Bible right again.
    Proverbs 19:11
The insight of a man certainly slows down his anger, And it is beauty on his part to overlook an offence.
    Ecclesiastes 7:9
Do not be quick to take offense, for the taking of offense lodges in the bosom of fools.

My 2 cents are a certain percentage of people and government to are using the offended effort to divide and control , one example of what's wrong with society is when everyone knows how to raise your child but you !
