They could have been a little more creative with the timetravel story. Some new AI, totally different from Skynet, engineered by humans in the alternate future John Connor and his mother created, becomes conscious and decides to end humanity (surprise). It discovers the story of the original Terminators on the internet, likes the idea and builds a Terminator looking just like Arnold to infiltrate and kill John Connor in the future. Just to be sure it uses its massive resources and casually builds a time machine to send back another Terminator, just to be sure. The movie is a great action movie, but the just didn't bother to explain why rolled out like it did.

It was a sad fate for Sarah Connor because you saw on her plaque “fate is what you make it” basically, but this movie just kinda threw the middle finger to that while also throwing the middle finger to the second movie as a whole, like they didn’t stop judgment day, they just post poned it which just felt….crappy. The shot at 3:22 is such a great terminator moment. It really does look like an tremendously heavy chunk of liquid metal being hurled through the air. The actress and director nailed the whole, incredibly strong and emotionless killing machine thing.
I LOVE the TX. The acting by the actress, the subtle movement when the t850 pulls up with the rpg. It has this split second recognition of, “hold on, THAT weapon can actually damage me, uhoh”. *edit: t800 correction
I have one minor problem with the T-X in this scene and that it wastes it's best chance to kill Kate by impersonating her fiancé. If it had just waited until she got a little bit closer the kill would have been so easy but I guess it wanted to use its weapons instead.

If the T-850 doesnt drive up *right then* and hits the T-X with an RPG; what was Kate going to do? She was facing down an advanced Terminator with plasma weapons and other equipment, she was literally seconds from being shot as it was. Where/what was Kate's escape *before* Arnie came to the rescue? *Nothing* So It is very believable that the T-X felt they were guaranteed to kill Kate in this instance, unmorphed to pull out the Plasma shooter and thanks to plot, the T-850 showed up just in time to keep the movie going. Without the T-850 pulling up the T-X vaporizes' Kate with ease. So thats almost exactly what the reason for your question is honestly.

The films ended in 91, with T2 which was masterpiece by any criteria. Then Cameron said that there would be no continue as the plot ended. He sticked to his word for about 26 years, he called the sequels that been made since then "bad dreams" and said they have nothing to do with his T1 and T2, he was right. Until he decided to participate in the production of "Dark fate" which is the worst sequel ever made. Pure bullshit film.

I'd like to think that Doctor Soberman somehow survived judgement day and became a key member of the human resistance army during its early formation. They should have had him as a wise mentor character in Terminator Salvation.
Tbh it was never so bad as many people said. It wasn't close to T1 and T2 but it holded well as a decent film... Plus the ending was a 100% unexpected twist and a good finale to a Terminator franchise.

I just noticed that at the end, when the TX was damaged and had to select a new weapon, each weapon has a name, details, ammo type and even a schematic for how it fits into the arm, aside from all the other diagnostic diagrams. Say what you want about the movie, but someone put in serious effort into the details. Edit: Because people couldn't shut up about me calling the TX, a T-1000 by accident, I've learned that people don't care about what you've said, if you've made a pointless typo, even though they understand exactly what you mean...

The big turn-off for me about this movie is that it seems like Arnie's been sent back to play matchmaker this time. Something just doesn't sit well with me about "you must get with the girl or the universe is doomed" kind of plots.

That's right friend, only ignorant people criticize Terminator 3, just follow the path of Terminator 2 pure action, Terminator 2 was lucky enough to hire the pioneering special effects company such as "Fantasy II Effects" friend, I recently wanted to remember the childhood watching the movie killer clowns from outer space (1988) and the effects company is "Fantasy II Effects" and they were fucking ahead of their time. For a good Terminator movie to be solid, it has to include dark gore, horror, mystery, and rot (terminator with rotting skin) like the first one. and bring back edward furlong. just copy what was done by the television series.
@@BenDover-qu9jn Well the T-850 was stronger since at the end the it could stop a giant closing door for John and Kate to go under while the T-800 got crushed in a hydraulic press. The T-850 can withstand heavier firepower and survive blasts from the T-X's plasma cannon while the T-800 would've been destroyed. The endoskeleton of the T-850 would withstand higher temperatures than the T-800's, and the T-850 had two Hydrogen based fuel cells while the T-800 only had one.
And that was like three movies back, now they have to either use computer magic or come up with an explanation as to why a robot aged. "But muh skin grown for the cyborgs!"
@MGazT I did mean that, but still, it's like they have to explain why the current Arnold Terminator has been around long enough to have it's skin aged so much. So now any Terminator movie with Arnold is required to have his character sent back in time earlier and earlier to account for all the years of aging.
I can fully understand the dislike for this movie, it followed T2 so it barely had a chance coming out of the gate. But I personally never had a problem with it. Especially the ending, we see the beginning of what is always talked about and what we see in small clips, the war. Plus for me I always liked the dry humor of Arnold’s one liners, “talk to the hand,” after his epic grocery shopping and “we need a new vehicle.” And one of my personal favorites, “Relax!” T3 and Salvation need a bit more credit for moving the series forward and at least trying to not be redundant. We should have gotten a trilogy with Christian Bale for the war years and the ultimate victory the humans achieve but sadly, looks like we won’t. Truth be told I wouldn’t mind if they did a reboot/remake of Salvation starting from scratch for the war and do a trilogy from there OR have Bale come back and have the next movie take place further down the timeline since he is a bit older than he was in a Salvation and do the final 2 movies. Just my two cents at least. There are still options but Genysis and Dark Fate really dashed any hopes for anything anytime soon.
Salvation was intended to start a trilogy with it leading to the future war that we saw in the 1st movie, its a shame it tanked because I think its genuinely the best of all the movies that have come out since 2. Its flawed yeah but I feel like it had effort

Terminator 2 taught us we can make our own destiny and t3 lazily said, " the nukes will fall no matter what". T3 lacked the magic of its predecessors because it had no theme. It was just a terminator thrill ride. T1's Kyle Reese told us about a future where you were starving to death and either burning people or being burned. T2 was a coming of age story for boy with no strong parental figure. Fighting fate along his crazy mom and a killer machine. The fact that I felt like John was putting down his puppy when he killed arnie...was a feat itself. So t3 which was just a monster movie with no plot, well ofc it was hated. It's only a meme to say it's not that bad because it's successors we're even worse lol

T3 was showing that neither the machines *nor* the humans could change fate. The machines were destined to rise... and John Conner was destined to stop them; neither side could escape that. My complaint with T3 was dumbass plot-holes like 2:02 -- why would the machine change? Acting as the fiance was the best-shot at getting physically close to the target. Or when the Terminatrix basically had an orgasm after sampling the bloody bandage with John Connor's DNA on it. Why would the machine be excited? Sure, it'd adjust its mission-parameters to the new target, but it wouldn't be orgasmic about it. There are some other examples, but I appreciated T3 for completing the arc of both sides, with both sides finally understanding that it was unavoidable: _no one can change fate._

He sticked to his word for about 26 years, he called the sequels that been made since then "bad dreams" and said they have nothing to do with his T1 and T2, he was right. Until he decided to participate in the production of "Dark fate" which is the worst sequel ever made. Pure bullshit film.

I just noticed that at the end, when the TX was damaged and had to select a new weapon, each weapon has a name, details, ammo type and even a schematic for how it fits into the arm, aside from all the other diagnostic diagrams.

That's right friend, only ignorant people criticize Terminator 3, just follow the path of Terminator 2 pure action, Terminator 2 was lucky enough to hire the pioneering special effects company such as "Fantasy II Effects" friend, I recently wanted to remember the childhood watching the movie killer clowns from outer space (1988) and the effects company is "Fantasy II Effects" and they were fucking ahead of their time.
For a good Terminator movie to be solid, it has to include dark gore, horror, mystery, and rot (terminator with rotting skin) like the first one.

The T-850 can withstand heavier firepower and survive blasts from the T-X's plasma cannon while the T-800 would've been destroyed. The endoskeleton of the T-850 would withstand higher temperatures than the T-800's, and the T-850 had two Hydrogen based fuel cells while the T-800 only had one.

So now any Terminator movie with Arnold is required to have his character sent back in time earlier and earlier to account for all the years of aging.

I can fully understand the dislike for this movie, it followed T2 so it barely had a chance coming out of the gate. But I personally never had a problem with it. Especially the ending, we see the beginning of what is always talked about and what we see in small clips, the war. Plus for me I always liked the dry humor of Arnold’s one liners, “talk to the hand,” after his epic grocery shopping and “we need a new vehicle.” And one of my personal favorites, “Relax!” T3 and Salvation need a bit more credit for moving the series forward and at least trying to not be redundant. We should have gotten a trilogy with Christian Bale for the war years and the ultimate victory the humans achieve but sadly, looks like we won’t. Truth be told I wouldn’t mind if they did a reboot/remake of Salvation starting from scratch for the war and do a trilogy from there OR have Bale come back and have the next movie take place further down the timeline since he is a bit older than he was in a Salvation and do the final 2 movies. Just my two cents at least. There are still options but Genysis and Dark Fate really dashed any hopes for anything anytime soon.
Salvation was intended to start a trilogy with it leading to the future war that we saw in the 1st movie, its a shame it tanked because I think its genuinely the best of all the movies that have come out since 2. Its flawed yeah but I feel like it had effort

This movie spit in the face of the movies with strong writing and a self determination mindset. Terminator 2 taught us we can make our own destiny and t3 lazily said, " the nukes will fall no matter what".
T3 lacked the magic of its predecessors because it had no theme. It was just a terminator thrill ride.
T1's Kyle Reese told us about a future where you were starving to death and either burning people or being burned.
T2 was a coming of age story for boy with no strong parental figure. Fighting fate along his crazy mom and a killer machine. The fact that I felt like John was putting down his puppy when he killed arnie...was a feat itself.
So t3 which was just a monster movie with no plot, well ofc it was hated. It's only a meme to say it's not that bad because it's successors we're even worse lol
@@fluffyisyermom7631 I disagree. The first T1 was the machines trying to change fate, and the humans resisting. T2 was the humans more-or-less going on the offensive and trying to change fate. T3 was showing that neither the machines *nor* the humans could change fate. The machines were destined to rise... and John Conner was destined to stop them; neither side could escape that.
My complaint with T3 was dumbass plot-holes like 2:02 -- why would the machine change? Acting as the fiance was the best-shot at getting physically close to the target.
Or when the Terminatrix basically had an orgasm after sampling the bloody bandage with John Connor's DNA on it. Why would the machine be excited? Sure, it'd adjust its mission-parameters to the new target, but it wouldn't be orgasmic about it.
There are some other examples, but I appreciated T3 for completing the arc of both sides, with both sides finally understanding that it was unavoidable: _no one can change fate._
