I hate when they change the book covers when they make a film. HATE IT.
Especially when you can no longer find the original cover and only the movie one. It's so annoying!
Claudia G EXACTLY!! I mean, if the film cover looks okay I don't really mind--but that rarely happens. but I HATED what they did with Ms Peregrine's because you can tell EVERYTHING they did wrong and the cover doesn't even go with the inside!!!

I hate it when they change the cover after the movie comes out and use a picture of the actors. I understand it commercially, but I still hate it.

I know! They changed the Allegiant book cover to a scene from the movie that wasn't even in the book!
Exactly!!! That looks so stupid and weird. I sometimes wonder how would the Percy jackson books look like if they would have changed it's cover and used a movie scene...
It makes me happy that they didn't do it with Harry Potter. My first copy of The Fault in Our Stars was the movie cover and I hated it ever since I got it, tomorrow I'm finally getting the book with the original cover tomorrow and I can't wait.
I'm neutral to it , but I feel like the book NERVE definitely got an upgrade from the movie cover . ( the other one wasn't the worst , but it wasn't the best either )

I hate hellllaaa cheesy book covers. Like especially if it's a YA romance book. Like damn I don't want EVERYONE knowing I'm reading a romance when they see my book cover of 2 people kissing in a really corny way.
The new cover of I'll Give you the Sun is nothing compared the the original!! The old cover for Shatter me was horrible!!

Haha I think with Venom that the original looks way more like a cheesy romance, not the newer one

Oh yes I loved the original cover for Across the Universe! I have no idea why they changed it. But I'm glad Shatter Me got a makeover! I remember loving that original art when I was a silly young thing. But I can't look at it now; it's so cheesy! Cover changes are such a struggle!
The Vampire Academy cover for me is the best cover change. What would I have to tell my mum if she saw those original covers?? It looks like erotic fiction!

I have both covers of I'll Give you the Sun! I actually bought the paperback (with the quote) because I thought it was so beautiful and unique, but I love the hardback too.

A pet peeve cover change for me is the Vampire Academy series - where it went from the picture of the girl to the red covers with symbols on it to the now plain lettering. Basically none of the covers were absolutely awesome. Out of those mentioned, I think the red cover was the best with the symbols on them.
I will search high and low to get the cover I prefer. And book size! My god book size! Publishers please don't mess me around.
I'm waiting for Winner's Trilogy to right their wrong. What's with the font and direction change??? I will not buy the Winner's Kiss until it matches and has the title over the full front of the cover.

So yeah, I just found your channel like a week ago, and I've been going back through your videos to catch up on the books that you've read and recommended before. So I got to this one, which I really like since the cover is so important for me as well. When you started to talk about The Sky is Everywhere, I got to think about the Swedish cover (also found that the Norwegian cover is the same). I do agree with you that the new is so much better than the original one; it's just so simple and oh the colours! But like I said, the Swedish cover (I'll link it below). I really, really like it. It's just a lot going on, with all the little animals and photographs and stuff, but at the same time, it feels calm, with the blue and pink. Now, I don't quite remember the story, but I do remember that when I read it I thought the cover really suited.

The new cover on I'll Give You The Sun was actually what drew me into it. I was absolutely DEVASTATED when I got a small stain on it- it's so beautiful!
i have honestly never seen the uk edition of the diviners until i bought it but i quite like it way more than the new covers - the original you have is the prettiest! i really like the original of the impossible knife of memory original cover tbh, the new one looks like a paranormal ya or something! i love this video idea though!

I like the original cover of I'll Give You the Sun. The new cover looks like an ARC, when I first saw it in bookstores I thought why are they selling the ARC.

I feel like I'm the only one who likes new covers for across the universe trilogy. I hesitated to read first books because of old cover. Its so romantic looking, I hated it XD

The queen of the tearling cover has a cut out in the new one so the inside cover is all gold with the castle and some quotes. I liked the aesthetics but it was annoying to read with the cut out. I was worried about ripping it.
The Winner's trilogy cover change. I will forever be bitter about that. They make Kestrel out to be this sword-wielding warrior, when she's not. She's a brilliant tactician, but not a warrior. And I feel like the new covers are going to mislead so many people.
For the two Jandy Nelson books I have solid orange and solid blue editions, which I really like, is this a uk thing? No matter the cover those books are some of my favourite ya ever! I'll give you the sun is one of my favourite books of all time. Anyone know when Jandy will be releasing more?
wait I'm so confused about the across the universe trilogy covers your talking about. I bought the books as they came out and the ones you are claiming they changed to (the industrial ones) are the original ones that I purchased as they released. The romantic ones you say are the original covers are the new covers I'm seeing in stores now.
I went to Canada last year and noticed all the books had like a thinner front cover so the second page showed from the front. Why do they do that??
We in the UK often get completely different covers. The Queen of the tearling looks very different. Not fair often like the US covers.

I agree that Across the Universe's original cover is better as it fits to the mood of the story and genre.
I think the cover for the paperback code name verify is not the original one. I bought the book in hard cover when it came out and it has hands tied with string on it. I believe they changed the cover for the paperbacks. just a bit of info :)
I must be the one of the only people who like the Across the Universe cover changes. I think the new covers fit the content of the books better.
Me Before You by Jojo Moyes. I asked for it for my birthday and instead of the red cover with the beautiful font covering the page I got a black and white cover with landscape picture of a girl far away. It do not like it at all, and the font on the new one is so basic. But I am excited to read the book, just sad about the cover.

Every time I see a real picture of someone on a book I'm like. That would be so much better illustrated. I just hate real pictures on a book weather that's a person or object
I absolutely hate the new Diviners cover. I love the hardback cover with the eye sooooo much.
I own the divergent series and every cover is different. also one is hardback and one is like the giant copy with enormous text whike the other is normal paperback. ugh it so annoying I have to put them on different parts on my shelf because I hate seeing them next to each other, lol😂😂😭😭

The original hardback cover for Code Name Verity is different and better than both of these in my opinion. It was more mysterious and the seriousness of the situation came across better. The Hunger Games cover annoy me because my edition of the first book has a picture of her looking actually the correct age and ts just how i have imagined her ever since then the books after just have logos on and look kinda dull. Also I' worried about the next Game of Thrones book since i have 1-7 in the cover most people recognise today but its been so long since the last one and other editions have come out since so will the release it with a cover to match the ones i have :/
If people are annoyed how the Vampire Academy new covers look the same look at the Southern Vampire mysteries with the blood and colour backgrounds

I own the original US cover of "Artemis Fowl: The Arctic Incident" and the only thing they seem to have in common is that they both have ice on the cover, unless you're talking about another version.
they're both plated metal covered in ice, same color as well. I think they look quite similar. Either way, neither one is particularly pleasing to the eye.

The new covers for The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon are a let down tbh, luckily they will do limited amounts of the future books with the old style so I'll just have to jump on those.

Controversial opinion: I don't think the original cover for The Diviners is as beautiful as everyone claims. Its not, really. The new ones lack spirit, but the original is... "eh".
That I'll Give You the Sun new cover is too much for me...I think they were trying to start a new trend but I just don't get it.....one i saw didn't even have the title down the side, i had to open the book

The old Anna and the French kiss cover is AWFUL. I would not feel drawn to that book at all with the original cover. The original Diviners cover was so cool. It reminded me of Tarot cards or something.
My favourite cover change is the new covers for the Mortal Instruments books. The old ones for books 1-3 were good, but then 4-6 just looked super corny and cheap. The new ones are a lot nicer and consistent in style!

Wow, "Tease" was gorgeous, and then you showed the new one, and I gasped. It looks like a bad self published book. Yikes. The S follows the line of her nose, as well. The poor author must be living in cringe.
You say 'girl' alot. Is 'woman' not in your vocabulary? If it's about a young female fine but some are clearly adults. Also I agree with your The Diviners choice but the other one didn't look like a corny romance but more of a cheesy Sci fi.
