Can't imagine how terrifying it is to have memories of a wife and daughter and the good times with them but then when someone asks what's their names and come up blank what is there to say after finding out that even the happiest of those memories are nothing but a lie

If you ever played SOMA this was the fate of all humanity. Ultimately, what mattered most to humans was the experience of being alive, and not assurance of reality as real.

@@aliendisco12 "There are countless ingredients that make up the human body and mind. Like all of the components that make up me as an individual and my own personality. Sure, I have a face and voice to distinguish myself from others, but my thoughts and memories are unique only to me, and I carry a sense of my own destiny. Each of those things are just a small part of it. I collect information to use in my own way. All of that blends to create a mixture that forms me, and gives rise to my conscience. I feel confined, only free to expand myself within boundaries."

I watched it when I was 14...And then watched it maybe 10-15 times for the following 6-7 years...Each time I found something new, a huge depth in the meaning in the allusions. He explains that just as human life merged from matter thanks to DNA, he as a lifeform merged from information thanks to memory. In a nutshell, the puppetmaster is a new non-phyisical lifeform born from computerized memory that finally reached selfawareness just like traditional lifeforms did through evolution.

Or to reduce the food comsumption because a Cyborg will only need electric energy, that way could live thousands years an incredible amount of people that is dying today. Soul is a religious concept created to satisfy the hope of the human being of living without a body and to face the fear to death, a software without a hardware, something very innocent, a beautiful fairy tale for adults.

@Lameazoid Bear in mind that this video *IS* a compilation of scenes, taken out of context. Watch the film itself if you wanna understand.

@BaTeSy0527 well, the real continuation to the movie is, directly, GITS 2 Innocence or 1.5 Human Error Processor or GITS 2 Manmachine Interface: she merges with the puppet master, then they divide into several children half motoko half p 2501... and then merge other people and join together.

I never thought of scene 1 here as deep. hmmm... may have to reanalyze what they're implying there......about the significance of human experience

You are right, it's way more satisfying to eat the entire bread rather than eating little pieces, even if they are the quite savory ones.

@KendrixTermina you know I was talkin about the agent wanting to be human and not the puppetmaster, right. 'Cause the Puppetmaster don't wanna be human, it's got everything it needs already, it's better than anything currently existing (I guess by the standards of that movie) so it's like God, and the agent, she merges with "God" and becomes something new... it's like, she wasn't satisfied not being human or having a ghost, and then she becomes something completely different anyway

@Desmodus96 I don't know any other cyberpunk anime genres however, Cyberpunk is a setting usually highly technologically advanced with weak and small governments and a few world powers followed by large mega corporations that all pretty much run most of the world.

This movie contained some of the most philosophical statements I have ever heard. I didn't get the part when we see the puppet master when the cops are about to raid a house and the dude stares right at them through the agent's binoculars. As you see in the Matrix, Neo is able to destroy agent Smith only when he becomes and able to wipe out the "virus" of A. Smith. This supports what the puppet master was saying: I don't to copy as copies can be erased. I want to merge.

Just think of this, if you're given the opportunity to get a full cibernetic body or even a Ciber-Brain would you take it? even when it obviously comes with the risk not only of being hacked sometime but being watched or controlled in every aspect of your life would you think humanity would allow something like Cibernetization for the use of the common Citizen? This is a point in Human Science we should never reach for the implications there in

Philosophical scenes are not actions scenes. Ghost in the Shell had received mainly positive reviews. The Wachowskis, makers of The Matrix trilogy, have commented on the influence of the first Ghost in the Shell film, directed by Mamoru Oshii, on The Matrix etc...

Even though i like the original audio, the puppet master voice is much better in the english version.

She gets a new body I think before she rejoins section 9. She gets her body blown to hell at the end of the first movie anyway. That one guy even says in the aftermath of the Puppet Master recovery "Bodies are a dime a dozen. We can just get him a new one from Megacorp." after a doctor gets injured.

@jalusbrian As far as anyone with at least an 8th grade education knows, anything living is formed of cells formed of molecules formed of atoms which is basically what anyone would call "matter". As for the rest of your comment, you obviously missed the whole point of the movie so I'm not gonna bother commenting

@KendrixTermina but the way I see it... the "boy" didn't merge with the "man" , I didn't really see the old parts of her in the new creature at the end.... and neither did her buddy, he didn't see it... she was lost. It was like amnesia. I think if you have amnesia, a soul or nothing else matters at that point.

because the series was developed and changed from the movie. alot of what production IG does i see as more Pilot projects for a concept than they are actual films to get interest and support then make an actual show.
similarly look at Blood: the last vampire and Blood+ the series. the stories are similar however alot of the details are changed, they also use a time skip to make these changes less noticeable.
