If you bind the Recharge Staff skill to a hotkey and use it to swap spells immediately after the right-click (frame perfect), you can trick the game into thinking the spell is actually a skill, meaning no mana cost, scroll consumption, or staff charge consumption.
@@PerMejdal You may have been using a different bug that is much easier for a human to perform. At the moment when the staff charge is consumed, Blizzard added an additional check to see if the spell on the staff you are carrying is the currently active spell. To save staff charges, rather than tricking the game into thinking you've cast a skill with a frame-perfect input, all you have to do is switch to any other spell while your character is in the middle of casting which is an 8-frame window. However, that bug is specific to the staff charge consumption logic and doesn't work for scrolls.
There is another way of doing it that gives you a much larger window. If you start walking and cast the spell you can lift the scroll out of your inventory and then place it back after the spell is done casting. This way the game won't find the scroll when it tries to consume it and you have the full walk animation to pull it off.
"Sorc sucks until mana shield and tele" TAS: "hold my beer" *gold manipulates phasing to tele and only mana shields at Diablo. Goes beyond "astronomically lucky" Why the "alt-tab" @3:17? edit: it's to skip the cutscene.
