    Great episode. Wish Yamaha wasn’t exiting the industry. They always have great stuff and competition is what makes everything better.

    I have a 22 xtx-le and conquer that it's more trail friendly but the ability to go off trail and run down the lake in 2ft powder makes it work great for me, northern quebec trail riding is what this was designed for 👍

    Nice trip down memory lane. We all have our favourite models that stand out. The Centurion was one of those for me. I had a lot of triples in the different body styles and the XLT was the most fun and bang for your buck. Had a lot of the 488's liquid and fan. Reliable is what I think of. I currenty ride a 2022 650 VR1. Is the most playful sled I have owned. Corner to corner it os a blast. We dont have big lakes where I am from. So the big turbos dont shine as much here. But they are fun. 9R is the up and comer for trail grunt

    Polaris was a real dumpster in the 2000's. I'd love to hear what the executives and product managers were thinking in 2001 when the Rev, Firecat, and RX-1 seemed to catch them totally flat-footed. Everything felt desperate after that - from those Pro X2 models with the funky seat which were supposed to be "rider-forward", to the Fusion disaster, to IQ chassis pivot which was just the mountain chassis hood on a Fusion and a revert to their old twin engines. The Rush was ok, but I can't believe such a radical concept was greenlit with all the trouble they were having as a brand. It really wasn't until the Axys that Polaris hit their stride again, but even that seemed lucky because it was a doubling down on the concept of the 2013 Indy SP, which was a budget rush without the uncoupled suspension that happened to work amazingly well. I guess the Assault was doing it too. But honestly the Matryx felt like the first time in 15+ years that Polaris was actually innovating and on par with the Rev's. That's a long time.

    That Polaris domestic twin first appeared in the 1998 XC.

      @@johnbeaser7035 that's true. I should've said it replaced the triple in the XC in 1998, which is what Mark was referring to.

      It was a shrewd move to not only cut costs by dropping a cylinder and pipe, but also moving production domestically to WI.

    Nooo! Arctic Cat snowmobiles were the first all aluminum chassis. My uncle Ed's two Arctic Cat Panthers 292 cc were all aluminum chassis in 1968. My Dad's Arctic Cat Panther was all aluminum chassis in 1970. Polaris Indy just copied their brother's in Thief River Falls MN.😊

      Yes Cat had aluminum chassis long before others. Poo and Doo had aluminum tunnels but the bulk head was steel or tub was steel for many years.

    Is anybody riding 200hp Sidewinders? Everyone that I know who has one has it tuned closer to 300.

    I took your advice Mark and Luke. You said that the Polaris Indy XC could carry two people.
    IT CAN'T! I bought a Indy XC 850 and added a passenger seat. After the third ride last year it overheated! I called my dealership and they said they couldn't service the sled because it was too busy and they didn't have snow to test engine. We finally got 2 Feet of snow. I took my sled in to the local dealership and they said that the coolant level was low. I didn't have enough miles on sled to know if it overheated. GASLIGHT CENTRAL!
    We took out the sled in 20° Fahrenheit and it OVERHEATED after two miles. Luckily we made it back to the trailer. I finally got the dealership to let me bring in the sled April 2. I am considering buying a New SKIDOO Grand Touring Turbo.😊

    What is the advantage of the "quiet " can? Just weight loss? There was no mention of HP gain.

    Two questions. Does the 998 turbo have engine overheating issues riding trails? Living in Southern Ontario I thought after market cans were illegal even the trail models? Great content as usual

    ok the IQ was trash, most people i know thought it was going to put Poo under, especially the 900. the IQR was sweet but a whole other animal and the chassis was never engineered for mass production.

  • @binskiman75
    @binskiman75 8 місяців тому

    2 things wrong here. Polaris did not build the performance twin market. Skidoo was light years ahead in twins while everyone was into triples. Also the iq chassis was junk and everyone knows that. It was aoo far behind cat and skidoo it wasn't funny.
