RoboCop Longplay (Arcade) [4K]

One of the greatest 80s action movies of all time, RoboCop is an absolute classic. It received numerous video game adaptations, many developed by Ocean Software, who had acquired the license to do so. When it came to the coin-op, Data East had to secure a license from the British software developer, which is why Ocean is credited during the game's attract mode.
The arcade game is a fairly by-the-numbers side-scrolling shoot 'em up, but the best thing about this, for me at least, is the main Robo character sprite. The artists managed to convey a huge amount of detail in such a small sprite, creating an extremely convincing pixel-art replica of RoboCop. In fact, it was so good I used to think it must have been digitised!
Despite having longplayed the game several years ago, I thought it was time to do a new version with a higher upscale (4K).

I remember this was one of the loudest arcade games back in the day. You could hear Robocop's holster noise from 20 feet away.
Yeah I forgot about how loud it was.
Every RoboCop arcade I saw always seemed to have a horrible screen, you could badly see anything if not at just the right angle.

Yup the only thing I remember about this game is that voice saying ROBOCOP lol
@@coolbluelights "Drop It!"
Robocop kills 30+ people leaving no survivors
> Robocop: "Thank you for your cooperation"
Sir you just killed everyone
"Comprehension is not a requisite of cooperation"

"There is no spoon."

I mastered this game at age 17. I used to do "no hit" runs. 100% every bonus stage, complete the entire game without taking a single hit. And I always perfectly managed my big gun so I always had enough shots to take out every boss in less than 2 seconds.
This was in every Mexican Restaurant back in the day. So much memories.
Playing 2d games as a kid actually made u a smarter faster reacting person in the real world, they were tough as hell to beat and required constant timing of jumps increasing our real world reaction times in certain situations,it has me.long live old school gaming👍
Fat kids think gaming is exercise lol
The music, the sound effects, brilliant. I have my doubts that even if they did, "drop it". They still would have met the same fate!
It's all about due process, right? 😅
I love how they marketed an ultra violent, rated R movie towards kids.
In former Yugoslavia it was common for kids to watch those movies on bootleg VHS tapes.
I did the same in the usa @@fungo6631
The best time to b a gamer 😂
I still love the sound effects.. really cool the metalic sound when he grabs the pistol
"I'd buy that for a Dollar!"
if only they put that in the game somewhere...
It would have been cool if they could have. In the arcade game, "Smash TV", the commentator would randomly use that line when the player traveled between rooms.
Ive been saying that linr for yearssss hahah
I wouldn't
Thank you for your cooperation. Good night
I spent years thinking he kept saying “CALLING!”. It’s such a compressed sound file, realised now it’s “DROP IT!” 😆
Actually sounds like 'comming". LoL.
To me it sounded like goblin 😂
I thought he said "roger"
My father said "Robert"!
Thank you for your cooperation.
This one is classic. I love the background of downtown Detroit. It’s so well made
Used to play this at the swimming baths back in the day. Combat school and Trojan as well. Great days
The best RoboCop game! Great playthrough!
Amiga RoboCop 2 or RoboCop vs Terminator is the best RoboCop game
What's up RoboCop
💀💀💀💀💀💀💀
I literally owned this Arcade machine when I was a kid and I played it all the time for years
Used to always hear "Drop it" no matter where i was in the arcade 😂
Should should be dlc or preorder rerelease bonus for the new game that comes out this year. what a gem
“Can you flllllllyyyyyy, Bobby?”
Remember this arcade so clearly. It would be in every amusement arcade I went to while on holidays in the late 80s early 90s! I'll never forget that music that plays at the start on the red screen with the high score list. Hearing it instantly takes me back to my childhood being on holidays.
I will always love the robocop series
When I was a kid at the arcade it used to be very dark in the arcade for some reason RoboCop intro and altered beast used to scared the living shit out of me
This doesn't do justice to how good the graphics were, you need to see it in a CRT screen to appreciate it. Of course this is the case for all old games, but Robocop specially had amazing visuals.
I still remember getting that rifle on stage 2 and going “holy crap, this thing is powerful”. This game, Ninja Gaiden, and Willow were just the best back in the day.
The zx spectrum conversion of this game was one of the best ports ever made. Put the likes of outrun and afterburner to shame.
1:44 - that voice always freaked me out as a little boy.
У робота демонический голос. 👹
ED209 - “PUT DOWN YOUR WEAPON”.
Kills everyone “ thank you for your cooperation”
"Drop it!".. No one has a weapon.
Yeah Robocop didn't age well or never has with its storyline making cops look like heroes compared to what's going on in the US.
I like how the arcade cuts to the chase and puts Robo up against ED209 in the first level.
That was super intimidating for 8 year old me and that was exactly the point, Data East knew how to craft an experience
I really like that they use the movie’s soundtrack on this game.
35 years later, still the only good RoboCop game. Robo vs Terminator on Sega was a solid effort.
When I was 12 years old, I would help wash trucks at my friend's fathers job for $20. We would go to 7-11 right afterwards, and I would buy a slice of pizza and a Big Gulp and play this game.
I remember seeing this arcade game as a kid and being confused by RoboCop having such limited energy, given he took hundreds of bullets from badguys in the movie! 😂
I mean he also punched through 2 men and made them explode. Maybe he put all his power to his fists.
Q baita jogo lindo, a musiquinha original do filme + gameplay q lembra o sunset riders, as animações bacanas, show de jogo👏🏾✌️🏾
I like that you can pretty much fit the entire development team inside a minivan.
Seams like dying enemies say “shit” ;)
It wouldn't surprise me, because in the film they said 'f...' a lot! 🤣
I remember freaking out at the graphics when this came out on coin op. Still love neo geo games.
This was my first arcade cabinet that I bought and restored.
Where did you get the cabinet graphics?
@@bcast9978 From a company called Arcade Lords. It went out of business in late 2001.
Robocop: Looking for me?!
Leon Nash: Don’t touch me, man!
Robocop: Clarence!!!
Many ppl like these kind of old games coz they brought back childhood memories which cannot count in monetary terms
I remember being able to beat this game with one quarter back in the day. Good times.
Nostalgia at its finest
Loved this :) along with Rygar, one of the few arcade games I ever managed to beat
I have a longplay of Rygar recorded - stay tuned....
LUCKY! I COULD NOT BEAT THOSE GAMES!
2:01 Thank you for your Operation.
I watch this game, hear the sounds, and suddenly it's 1989 and I'm at a rest stop on the Ohio Turnpike waiting for my dad to get our Roy Rogers order....
Good old days...i use to play this for 20p a credit. Not bad for 25 mins odd. ❤
Why does my brain hear RoboCop shout "COVID" all the time 😅
He ducks in this but cant duck in the damn 2023 game.
Awesome. Great watch. Good picture and sound quality.
The punching sounds, are very similar to those in "Bad Dudes vs Dragon Ninja," an arcade game also made by Data East.
Robocop: *shoots a clip at the president, and kills the enemy with his fist.*
President: "Nice shooting son!"
One if my favorite arcades. coincidentally watching the movie at the same time as this video lol
Arcade games will never be replicated
1:10 this song is Robocop’s anthem
I loved this....it was always one of my go-to cabinets :)
20:22 Murphy, Alex Murphy!!!
this arcade is amazing 🤘
I accidentally shot the woman being held hostage and she let out a loud ass scream that startled everyone around me. The sound volume of this game was always nuts.
1:46
ED 209 on a rampage:
Put down your weapon!
The soundtrack and atmosphere of the game were scary for me. I was a kid though! But still that opening soundtrack scared me now!
I actually played this game on my laptop once to celebrate his guest appearance in Mortal Kombat 11. Fun! But it was hard as hell! 🔫🤖🚔
how can I play this? do I need an emulator? thx
@@samsungnote8365 I played it on Retrogames CC and Playretrogames.Com. It only works properly on Google Chrome. Any other web search engine it will not work properly.
Used to stop at the local corner store that had this and complete it before heading to school. Then they got Empire City 1931.....that was a tough game to master but a great challenge. Then a little later the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game came on the scene. Places for FOUR players on the one machine. *Mind....bloooown*
"Drop it!" (at a sentry gun) xD @18:02
This is one of those games where 80% of the challenge is fighting against the horrendous controls and clunky gameplay.
2:17 Karnov makes a cameo as one of the thugs in the game.
Remember when Murphy destroyed TWO ED-209's at the same time with his trusty auto-9?
Im surprised no one knows the Van boss exploit...If you stand at the far right after clearing the adds and have the ammo that shoots 3 rounds, you can immediately disable the van before it even comes out or you take fire from the driver. It will come out slow and stop completely and will stop. only thing you need to deal with is the dismounts that jump out of the back of the van
cool glitch
This is the best game ever 😄👑 have you seen the films yet?🔥
Dead or alive, you're coming with me!
I would like to see this game RoboCop arcade game to the PS5 bring the old school back
This is far more fluid and fun to play than the NES game. Why they didn't just do a Contra like port is beyond me.
Drop it!
Proceeds to shoot at the same time
I remember as a kid the corner store that was below me had this and every quarter I got I would use to lay this game lol
Nice! I also used to be able to finish this on one credit back in the day.. you do a few of the earlier stages slightly differently than me. Vital to get the 100% on the 2 firing ranges!!
These days I struggle from the OCP stage and can't usually finish it!
Spread is great regardless of what game you're playing.
Very good! 👍
Are you a bad enough Robocop to rescue the president?
Robocop. Punching dudes with chainsaws in the face nearly 2 decades before Leon Kennedy
Classic Vertical shooters!! I like
It sounds like the bad guys are saying sh*t when they scream.
So much money spent in arcades playing this. I wouldn't change a thing
19:33
Final Boss: Ed-209
amazing game
Can you flyyyy Bobby?!
@4:20 impressive!!!!
Great quality transfer!!
I couldnt get off the 2nd level in this. I was like 10 when this came out
What did Robocop say ? Go man ? When I was playing this game in game arcades, I heard it said Norman. 😗
this was also one of mine favourite arcade game, after Final Fight2, Capatain Commando.. omg after 30+yrs i got goosee bumps graphics awsome for that yrs and. I wonder how you get these versions? Circuits then you connect them on what PC or Console or you have the whole arcade and you just have circuits of the different games..?? But i got to admit that i was alwys nervous playing this game, it looks easy but other kinds were better then me:), i was every day on arcades it was fun...
i play online about 3weeks now and i must say i still sucks at playing it.. but ok you have unlimited lives, i think is it set on very hard or am i wrong? Now i will go for Bad Dudes and after that i will return on robocock
DROP IT!!!
Nostalgic
Shoots the guy dead: "Drop it"😂
DROP IT!
One of rare examples, where game from 8 bit home computers was ported to arcades.
It was the opposite, first came the Arcade version by Data East and then the home versions by Ocean.
Ocean got the videogame rights when the film was still in script stage and sublicensed them to Data East for the arcade version.
you under.. a never mind then, man those graphic back in late 80s maybe?
My first game in sega genesis 16 bit in 1994 😂 ,i really like this game 👍
Looks a lot better than the NES version I used to play.
Sayonara, Robocop!
I hope they put it in the classic arcade on the ps5.
