I saw the Beatles in '65 and '66, and I saw George on the only solo tour he ever did in '74. He did three Beatles songs, three of his solo "hits", plus five of his songs I had never heard before or since. This was nine years after Beatlemania, and his solo show was nothing like '65 and 66.
I saw him in 1974 too. With Ravi Shankar + Orchestra. Now , for the sad part. My friend's Mom had an extra ticket in 1966 . I had the ticket IN MY HAND and said " no , I ' ll go next time ". There was No Next Time ! ¡ But we did see Wings in 1976 .
So lucky. I’ve seen Paul many times and Ringo as well. But I was too young when the Beatles were together to make it to a concert. Sorry I’ve never seen George and John (although Yoko sent me several postcards, including a Xmas card one year).
Many people like to compare George,Paul and John like it was some competition 'who was the best?' None of them produced their best work after the beatles broke up though some some post songs like Imagine, Live and Let Die, and All things must Pass are better than most other artists have produced. Their individual life experiences and talents contributed to the creation of some of the best music produced in the twentieth century . Isnt it better to view that the Beatles like ' the whole was greater than the sum of its parts'?. The Beatles as a group were a melody machine, inventive, experimental, groundbreaking, risk takers and self reflective. Hard to replicate but never say never.
George was a brilliant guitar player! Idiots say that he wasn’t , because he didn’t shred? 🤨 I hate Shredders. George had a true recognizable style and made to Beatles…..
Yes, he was an ensemble player. His guitar was like another voice. And unlike his pal Eric, he didn't repeat the same boring, old blues riffs all night long.
George had a much better grasp of jazz guitar chords than the other two. I believe that he was taking guitar lessons before Beatlemania hit. His arrangement of "Till There Was You" is a masterpiece which my band plays at every gig to this day. And he always played it flawlessly live on stage. When George was being deported from Germany because he was underage, he sat up all night with Lennon, teaching him the chords to all the songs so they could do their gigs without George until he returned. What a trooper! Check out his Saturday Night Live appearance with Paul Simon in '75. They played "Here Comes The Sun" and "Homeward Bound" and George rattled off a closing blues lick that made Simon smile. I think he was jealous.
people who think George wasnt a good guitarist on this have never looked into his music i can promise you that lol. he wasnt a shredder but he had very nice technique and song writing. he was certainly very good. he could pop into bands way outside of his style and still kill it (austrailia lucille)
THE INTERVIEW at the 38-minute point is off. George may have WRITTEN the song in C minor (I don't know), but the famous "White Album" recording is in A minor.
As you said, maybe the original demo on acoustic guitar was in C minor. But it must have been too difficult for George to hit the high vocal notes in the bridge, so they dropped it down to A minor in the studio. Just my guess.
Harrison getting his shorts in a knot bout MACCA telling him how he wanted him to play on his songs is hilarious, cuz Harrison had the same attitude about his songs. He asked Clapton to play on Guitar Gently Weeps. Clapton said, what about the other 3, what will they think. Harrison didn't give a shit. And years later, Ringo recorded one of Harrison's songs, didn't like the mix so he sued Ringo. All 3 had the same attitude about their own songs.
You don't mention , John and Paul, had contracts, two LP, a year,4 singles, the pressure on them to churn out quality hit songs on demand, was tremendous. George on the other hand could write if he wanted to, but he wasn't contracted, like John and Paul, George would take months with a song, some where fantastic, but he had time to craft them unlike the other guys.
Message to Mrs Olivia Harrison. It is disgraceful the way you have treated Mark Lewisohn. He did not release any bootleg material and George Harrison should not have been allowed to slander Mr Lewisohn in public over this.
Thanks for keeping the memories of George alive for all of those left who lived during those great years. Times that never will be again.
We love you, George. You are still here in our hearts. Thanks for writing a few tunes to carry us on our way. See you later. 🕉
This was awesome. Thank you for sharing.
George Harrison was is and ALWAYS will be my FAVORITE Beatle! ❤😂🎉😅

Seeing the Fabs wasn't a "concert" - you couldn't hear anything over the screams. But it WAS an experience.

On Please Pleas Me George played octaves with the melody line making his Country Gent sound like a 12 string.
This is a great series..
GREAT !!!!.,. thank You
Xxx

I’ve dreamt of George in The Stones playing next to Keith.
Nice George
People can say what they want to say, but as far as I'm concerned George was a brilliant singer and guitarist! ❤ 😂 🎉 😅
George super cool..

Used to stay at my uncles house on BLUEJAY WAY. Across the street from you know who.

Give me love let me cope with this heavy load
It's "Give me hope, help me cope with this heavy load."
Be here now

Great observation. 👍
1:33 So George was a close talker. 😅
Misleading clickbait. Where's the footage of George performing?
All throughout the documentary there are clips of him performing.
Made some good music.
Gorge had to tune up the guitars in the beginning you will never hear about that
Don't belong, don't belong (to any system, find your SELF) is what I heard. whahahaha
Can't stand Chris Welch. That's been a condition of mine for 50 years or more

Fine tune what songs ? don't bother me ? George and Ringo had to be the luckiest Beatles
Something was a number one hit. You have no clue what you're talking about.
Attracts me like a cauliflower
The best Beatles album was Hard Day's night after that it's all downhill.. melancholy and depressing and drug is not success to me
Says a man pointing a young a you. Boy, are you twisted.
…on your way now sonny…
I think you’re in the wrong video to comment. I suspect you are in a very very small minority!
Harrison was a poor lyricist? ok lol run of the mill exist
Very basic guitarist. Didn't like to talk about the Beatles unless he was self promoting or it was financially beneficial.
