  • In this, "How To video", I talk about Weather Pack Connectors.
I Assemble and Disassemble, Weather Pack connectors. I have used these connectors for a long time.
I think I like the new Deutsch Connectors better, with the exception:
    1) That everything is smaller, harder for these fat fingers to maneuver the small parts
    2) Harder for these old eyes to see the numbers on the backs of the connectors and to thread the wire into the connector.
I do like the positive feeling of the connections, and will be making the switch.

Put the seal on the wire first, then strip the insulation. Otherwise you can snag a copper hair into the seal damaging it. Also, the tool has a step in the ratchet mechanism which serves the purpose to hold the connector in the tool while you insert the wire into the right position.

deutsch is top shelf indeed especially with the OEM and the solid pins but damn they are expensive. ive been using the weatherpack and do like them. the time it takes me to put together an engine harness i don't want to worry about an issue to i solder the pins after I've crimped them. a good clean hot iron and solder with lead works well.

I have just watched the video... good stuff. It's hard to find anything on the weather proof connectors and especially the crimper. I have bought 3 different types and only sort of works. I am buying another one as I want it to work right the first time. The one that I am buying is similar to the one in the PDF mentioned below. Good job mate.

Could you please post a link to that wire stripping tool that you used (that exact one, not a similar design)? Thank you in advance, and for the video.

Can you share where to buy the crimping tool or size of the die set?

Those ratcheting crimpers are nice but do the authentic non-ratcheting Delphi Weatherpack Crimpers work better?

I have the same crimper. Can you tell me where to get the dies to fit the Weather Pack and or MC4 connectors?

Made these for the first time at work a couple days ago. A little confusing, but I’ll get it down eventually. One question though; it doesn’t matter which goes into which connector? Pins go male and barrels go female? Or it doesn’t matter?

Shame, nobody tells, what kind of crimping tool / ratchet one needs. I bought one from a Chinese seller. Hope, it will do what desired... But still: nicely made video!
