I played a LOT of Wii games this week. Lost a lot of Wii footage a few years ago with a hard drive crash, so I had to recapture all of it for this video. That said, it was a pretty fun 👍
I'm... sort of playing that on my WiiU now (hiatus - got inexplicably hooked on Another Eden and stuff on my 3DS). Loving the voices, some of the music is very good, but the combat system isn't doing me any favours. Oof...
Supposedly, that and Pandora's Tower are considered valuable today, but maybe not on the same level as something like "Gotcha Force" or "Cubivore" from the Gamecube.
I cannot recommend Endless Ocean and Endless Ocean: Blue World enough. Some of the greatest Wii games ever right there, and some of the most beautiful at that.
I always appreciated when games would have motion controls but the developers knew those controls aren't for everyone, so they'd let you use whatever controller setup you preferred.
Then there is the Conduit games along with Black Ops. Not only were multiple control methods allowed with Conduit 2 onwards, but they let you customize the motion controls so much! It honestly was insane the level of customization both Conduit 2 and Black Ops provided to players.
I worked at Toys R Us in the electronics department during the Wii boom and remember seeing tons of games that are considered hidden gems now. I remember stocking so many copies of Deadly Creatures and Mad World. A lot of games just looked like shovelware and no one ever bought them. Really wish I had the money to pick up a bunch of games back then.
I know he mentions the Conduit games being generic (The Conduit definitely fits that bill,) but Conduit 2 is honestly something special in my opinion. I am glad I got it again in my collection as it shows just how much the developer grew from the first game. It is just an overall fun FPS on the Wii and is really fun to play with multiple people. The story itself isn't anything special, but the way it isn't taken seriously just makes it better in my opinion. Also the weapon variety is great fun. What is really awesome is that fans of the game got its servers up and running. Every Sunday they get together and play Conduit 2. I highly recommend getting it.
@@edm5100 I've always found games that we're separate versions from other platforms quite interesting since they do have to very much build these games from the ground up fit the hardware and a lot of the time it's often with the help of another studio.

Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom is a great game, that I surprisingly didn't see showcased in this video. Dead Rising: Chop Till you Drop is also an interesting way to experience the story of the original Dead Rising, with the gameplay style of RE4. Okami on Wii has an interesting story about the box art being ripped from IGN, to the point where you can see a IGN watermark on the art. Finally, Rodea the Sky Soldier has a physical Wii disc included in the Wii U copy of the game, with a reversible cover art that is the Wii box art, as well as 2 separate manuals, one for each version.
Wii is a powerhouse of gaming. 240p over component NES/SNES emulation and Gamecube compatibility make it awesome. I use mine all the time... but I have never played a single Wii game on it lolol.
Love the Wii videos. It was easy for teen me to hate it back in 2012, but adult me looks back fondly on the system and it’s games. Just hearing the Wii menu music is nostalgic. Wish they rerelease Super Mario Galaxy 2 and the Metroid Prime Trilogy on Switch soon!
I got Deadly Creatures a few years ago because of your recommendation. It's an utterly charming game, especially for someone like me who grew up in the Sonoran desert in AZ. It reminds me of home.
My Wii U is still hooked up, I need to go back and play some of these again, been too long... I love the Boom Blox games, they're really fun multi-player too.
I literally thought you said Italian Wars there lol idk why it was so funny to me. Whoa! I had no idea that there were so many hard hitting games on the Wii! My mind is blown! I might have to pick one up!
Monster Hunter Tri with Classic controller bundle gave me the most play time with the Wii. That's when my friends got me into the series along with Monster Hunter Portable 3rd! Shame that the Tri servers were shut down in 2013 but that's when I was playing 3 Ultimate on the 3DS/Wii U.
The Wii was the first system I owned as a kid and this is a really awesome Wii Collection you have. I have over 100 Wii Games including some Games that are pretty Rare but some awesome ones at the same time. My favorite Wii Game and also one of my favorite games of all time is Super Mario Galaxy 2. " ... one of the best ones ever made". Couldn't agree with MJR more talking about Kororinpa Marble Mania. An absolutely amazing game! Not to mention that's the game that got my then 5 year old nephew into video games. He quickly became obsessed and two years later he's just finished Mario Odyssey as the first game he's beaten. He had perma-grin for a solid 12 hours. I honestly had never heard of it Marble Mania before watching one of your Wii hidden gems videos. A sincere thank you MJR for helping put a smile on two faces and helping a child's imagination grow!
I got Marble Saga Koropina years ago, didn’t realize it was a sequel. Total fun, but can be quite tricky. Now I’ve gotta find Marble Mania to let the good times roll!

I think it does! I always thought the wii was a waste of time before your recommendations. I purchased a Boy & His Blob, A Shadow's Tale, Pandora's Tower to name a few. Many many more. Definitely a surprise for me
I would say wii or ds. Given the target market for Nintendo at the time and the view "core" gamers had of them back then, basically all third party games, and lesser known nintendo franchises, for those consoles could be counted as hidden(and since there was good games for them they would be gems)
I would like to reminded people that Sonic Colors is a totally different and amazing game on the ds. A 2d side scroller with old school bonus zones to collect the emeralds in.
A note about the Nights game is that some of the features don't work on it anymore since components like the Wii weather channel no longer function. If I remember right, the game synced up with the weather channel to reflect your local weather.
My favorite series for the Wii probably was Super Mario Galaxy alongside The Raving Rabid Series. A hidden gem for me was definitely Mercury Meltdown Revolution, sadly I sold my copy when I was young. I know I can order it from eBay, but there's so many games I already own that I don't play enough.
The wii has so many hidden gems because people just ignored it. It was ridiculous. I was fully "in" during the wii days and got to play most of these games as soon as they were released. Was truly an amazing time.
FYI: I found this channel looking a few years ago for Wii hidden gems. I didn't see Excitebots/Excite Truck in your Wii racing games. Both of those were random rents from Gamefly that were surprisingly fun. Excitebots was the later game and a bit better. Dead Space: Extraction is one of those games I always highly recommended for the Wii, but so many didn't play. Being labelled as an "on rails" shooter hurt is popularity, since it's way different that the arcade style of game you'd expect in this genre. It's also the kind of game I'd love to see reworked for VR. The only thing holding it back for being an easy port is the swinging movement. The same goes for House of the Dead: Overkill. I'd love to see a VR rework for both of these games.
Where's Exitetruck? That game is pretty fun. Also I would suggest TMNT Smash Up, Heathcliff: The Fast and the Furriest, Donkey Kong Country Returns. Oh and Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz if you like frustrating motion controls. lol
A god tier port. And to think I believe it was released at only 30 dollars. One of the best Wii games especially in the first few years of the console. So good
Yeah. As well as House of the Dead - Overkill, also available on Wii. Overkill is arguably the best of the three actually. It's classic House of the Dead - fused with the style of a Tarantino/exploitation movie. Pretty Bad - A.
If I had to rank games on the Wii, I'd put them in this order: 15. Mario Kart Wii (not a huge racing game guy) 14. Fragile Dreams Remnants of The Moon (I love the atmosphere of this JRPG. It has so much detail and is one of the most unforgettable titles on the system, even if it's combat is a bit meh.) 13. The Last Story (The opposite of Fragile Dreams. Combat can be great, and story has its great moments, but the world itself isn't anything unique for me. Still a great game though and has its moments that I love.) 12. Muramasa The Demon Blade 11. 007 Goldeneye 10. Red Steel 2 (great combat system and very smart art direction. Needs a sequel.) 9. No More Heroes 8. Conduit 2 (A very solid shooter that completely blows the first game out of the water in every department. I use to think it was just okay, but as I got older I had to put Conduit 2 higher on my list. It is so fun to replay and it absolutely needs to get a sequel on Switch. Here's hoping that Conduit 3 is the AAA project that High Voltage Software is working on next.) 7. Kirby's Epic Yarn (such a pleasure to play) 6. Super Smash Bros Brawl (tons of replayability and is the game that got me into competitive fighting games.) 5. Donkey Kong Country Returns (easily the best 2D platformer of its generation) 4. Xenoblade Chronicles (best JRPG of its generation, and it's influence can be seen in recent games in the genre.) 3. Skyward Sword (one of the most beautiful Zelda games, with a fantastic world to explore even if it is linear. I just love how this game started to really enforce lore into the series.) 2. Metroid Prime 3 (My personal favorite Metroid Prime game. The environments, creature design, and world building just really makes Prime 3 something special to behold. It really was a fantastic game to end the original trilogy. It is honestly crazy how well the graphical presentation of this game holds up to this day.) 1. Super Mario Galaxy (Easily my favorite platformer of all time. It holds up well to this day and has something special to it that I just can't explain.) (Bonus game) I actually would put this at number 1, but am not sure if it's fair to count 2 Zelda games in the same list especially when one of them is also on Gamecube. That game is Twilight Princess. There is so much to talk about with this game, but I have no idea where to even begin. It has my favorite combat system in the series, has my favorite story to any Zelda game as it feels like the threat requires more than just a hero to defeat (hell there is even a group of heroes that help Link throughout the game in actually great ways,) has my favorite dungeon designs, and has its own unique lore that I am still discovering stuff from to this day. There's a reason why it is tied with my favorite game of all time, and I would most certainly say it is my favorite Wii game ever made.
Phantom Brave: We Meet Again. It's a strategy game similar to Disgaea. Also for Star Wars games there's a good and cheap Lego Star Wars collection that is the two gamecube games in one.
I didn't see the last story anywhere in the video its a really solid Jrpg probably my favourite game for the system its a little short by jrpg standards but it doesn't really turn into a grind to finish
Surprised you don't have Target:Terror! Its a super funny and cheesy FMV rail shooter ported from arcade. I think it was the sequel to Maximum Force from the Ps1 days.
I have the chance to get a Wii and I was thinking "this system has good games?" Because I'm not into Nintendo World so much, but this video help me to, I'm definitely will check it out.
Nice to see another owner of Opoona! It's truly one of the best games for the Wii, especially if you're a huge fan of something like Earthbound since it has that similar charm with its atmosphere.
I've found the Gottlieb and Williams pinball games translate very well to the Wii. With the motion control you have more control over bumping the machine without tilting so easily.
Really appreciate you showing off gameplay, it's a difficult endeavour, but adds so much value!

Boom blox 1 and 2 are my faves on the wii..we have a tridition of playing these two games when family visit and stay over when visiting .
I still have my Nintendo wii connected to a 29" crt tv, an extraordinary combination !!
Wii is a powerhouse of gaming. 240p over component NES/SNES emulation and Gamecube compatibility make it awesome. I use mine all the time... but I have never played a single Wii game on it lolol.
Same emulating snes games or n64 on my wii on a crt makes me so happy lol
Gamecube emulating is god
You got me beat. I have it hooked to a 27" CRT TV as well as a bunch of vintage consoles. lol
@@butchdeadlift7551 not 240 but 480p. wide. 16:10.
Good video! Nice Wii collection! Nintendo first party games you missing is Punxh Out Wii,Donkey Kong Country Returns and Super Mario Bros. Wii.
I love the wii shooters, didn't know about the Dead Space one, i'll have to pick that up! Good video!
Such a beautiful Masterpiece of a game.
You are the only UA-camr that I can watch their videos over and over. Something so natural about your videos bro. I thank you for all of your hard work and appreciate the flow of your videos. 🍺 Cheers Mate!
I have a complete Metroid Prime Trilogy PAL UK edition and it was like the search for the holy grail getting my hands on a decent copy. I envy your Calling. It's my white whale. So expensive now.
just started the vid and i still play DEADLY CREATURES i love that game, we need another
" ... one of the best ones ever made".
Playing Wii bowling with my Dad ❤ Can't bring myself to play it since he passed though 😊
there's a VR angry birds that's 3D and VERY much reminded me of boom blox, so you aren't wrong in your comparison.. both are a ton of fun too
i had a wii a few years ago. and only played wii sports. ended up selling it. now i have a wii u. and going thru the Wii & Wii u games looking for good ones to get and play. i went on the online store and got all the great nes/snes games from back in the day that are super cheap and been enjoying playing those games on a newer nice flat screen tv. so thats worth Wii u alone. and now getting Wii/u games. so thanks for putting this up
Did the Wii have the most "hidden gems" than any other console?
Honestly in a way no, I feel like PlayStation 2 and Dreamcast has more
I think it does! I always thought the wii was a waste of time before your recommendations. I purchased a Boy & His Blob, A Shadow's Tale, Pandora's Tower to name a few. Many many more. Definitely a surprise for me
I think with the uniqueness of the Wii remotes, there are a lot of fun games that have gone under the radar.
I would say wii or ds. Given the target market for Nintendo at the time and the view "core" gamers had of them back then, basically all third party games, and lesser known nintendo franchises, for those consoles could be counted as hidden(and since there was good games for them they would be gems)
It has to win for sheer variety of content….
I would like to reminded people that Sonic Colors is a totally different and amazing game on the ds. A 2d side scroller with old school bonus zones to collect the emeralds in.
A note about the Nights game is that some of the features don't work on it anymore since components like the Wii weather channel no longer function. If I remember right, the game synced up with the weather channel to reflect your local weather.
videos like this is why I don't get how people can ask "do you even play games?!?" Love your work!
While there were lots of hidden gems on the Wii, there was A TON of shovel ware to sift through in order to find them.
Finally Ghost Squad gets some Love, I remember it well, good game :)
You are a true gamer. There is no genre you don't play. I love it
My favorite series for the Wii probably was Super Mario Galaxy alongside The Raving Rabid Series. A hidden gem for me was definitely Mercury Meltdown Revolution, sadly I sold my copy when I was young. I know I can order it from eBay, but there's so many games I already own that I don't play enough.
The Last Story is fantastic.
The wii has so many hidden gems because people just ignored it. It was ridiculous. I was fully "in" during the wii days and got to play most of these games as soon as they were released. Was truly an amazing time.
More hidden gems. Wii edition. I love these videos. This is when my wallet gets smaller because of your recommendation. 😂 You are a hidden gem MJR.
Nights on the Wii plays like a dream with Gamecube controller.
It might be good to note some Wiimotes had the motion plus built right in. At bottom front of Wiimote it says Wii motion plus inside.
Where's Exitetruck? That game is pretty fun. Also I would suggest TMNT Smash Up, Heathcliff: The Fast and the Furriest, Donkey Kong Country Returns. Oh and Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz if you like frustrating motion controls. lol
Excellent video you have a lot more Wii games and I do. I always love watching your hidden gems before. Thanks
Klonoa is not talked about enough. Love that game so much. Would kill to have a Crash Bandicoot level remaster of the 2 Klonoa games.
didn't know Ghost Squad until MJs videos....great game....Resident Evil Darkside Chronicles is a must also
The resident evil on rails shooters had really wierd cursor acceleration it felt like. HotD Overkill's aiming felt better.
Where is Donkey Kong Country Returns?
By the way nice video amigo.
I loved Resident Evil 4 Wii edition.
A god tier port. And to think I believe it was released at only 30 dollars. One of the best Wii games especially in the first few years of the console. So good
Got Ghost Squad for .99 cents from GameStop … steal for that price! Sin and Punishment for $4 and that is another steal
I recently got The House of the Dead 2&3 Return. I find it weird that you don't have it already.
Yeah. As well as House of the Dead - Overkill, also available on Wii. Overkill is arguably the best of the three actually. It's classic House of the Dead - fused with the style of a Tarantino/exploitation movie. Pretty Bad - A.
If I had to rank games on the Wii, I'd put them in this order:
15. Mario Kart Wii (not a huge racing game guy)
14. Fragile Dreams Remnants of The Moon (I love the atmosphere of this JRPG. It has so much detail and is one of the most unforgettable titles on the system, even if it's combat is a bit meh.)
13. The Last Story (The opposite of Fragile Dreams. Combat can be great, and story has its great moments, but the world itself isn't anything unique for me. Still a great game though and has its moments that I love.)
12. Muramasa The Demon Blade
11. 007 Goldeneye
10. Red Steel 2 (great combat system and very smart art direction. Needs a sequel.)
9. No More Heroes
8. Conduit 2 (A very solid shooter that completely blows the first game out of the water in every department. I use to think it was just okay, but as I got older I had to put Conduit 2 higher on my list. It is so fun to replay and it absolutely needs to get a sequel on Switch. Here's hoping that Conduit 3 is the AAA project that High Voltage Software is working on next.)
7. Kirby's Epic Yarn (such a pleasure to play)
6. Super Smash Bros Brawl (tons of replayability and is the game that got me into competitive fighting games.)
5. Donkey Kong Country Returns (easily the best 2D platformer of its generation)
4. Xenoblade Chronicles (best JRPG of its generation, and it's influence can be seen in recent games in the genre.)
3. Skyward Sword (one of the most beautiful Zelda games, with a fantastic world to explore even if it is linear. I just love how this game started to really enforce lore into the series.)
2. Metroid Prime 3 (My personal favorite Metroid Prime game. The environments, creature design, and world building just really makes Prime 3 something special to behold. It really was a fantastic game to end the original trilogy. It is honestly crazy how well the graphical presentation of this game holds up to this day.)
1. Super Mario Galaxy (Easily my favorite platformer of all time. It holds up well to this day and has something special to it that I just can't explain.)
(Bonus game) I actually would put this at number 1, but am not sure if it's fair to count 2 Zelda games in the same list especially when one of them is also on Gamecube.
PSA: The limited edition of Dead Space 2 has the Dead Space motion control edition on it which works with dualshock 3 too.
So many good nights drinkin beer and striking out my buddies in wii baseball lol
Disaster Day of Crisis, one of my favorites
Manhunt on Wii was heavily censored but it was a trip.
I see MetalJesus does not remember the Wii Sports pandemic. Such rough times.
11:30 Which was the Wii's strongest point, gameplay over visual spectacle.
I didn't see the last story anywhere in the video its a really solid Jrpg probably my favourite game for the system its a little short by jrpg standards but it doesn't really turn into a grind to finish
Some games I dont know about here but want to play now
I love collecting for the Wii. So many cool titles you can find for dirt cheap in 2021.
The wii wa such a awesome system. But most people didnt even know it had core games on it until recently hence the price on game snow
Fantastic buying guide brother!
13:46 m&m’s kart racing lol
