Dude I am in recovery myself (not for gambling thank Christ) and have more than 5 years clean. I just have to say that it hurts my very soul to watch a man who is as deep into addiction as Jack win more than 100k then flush it all down the toilet. I make great money these days but 100k is still a huge chunk to me, let alone your avg American. The absolute power that the feeling of gambling has over those addicted to it is extraordinary and mind blowing even to somebody like myself who knows how bad it is first hand.
Always a good reminder that addiction is a powerful and cunning enemy. Anyway, one day at a time people!

He knows, it's not about winning money it's about getting that release of dopamine and serotonin from the feedback. Gambling hijacks the reward pathways in the brain. A gambling addict can lose $100,000 but still win $100 they'll consider that as "winning"

He would be hundreds of thousands up if he just knew when to actually quit. He hasn't grasped the famous old rule 'the house always wins' these machines are literally designed so if you just keep spinning eventually you'll hit 0, the machines have a 'peak' per session and once that peak is reached its basically just keep spinning till 0. He gets up by thousands and then thinks he'll just keep getting lucky so increases his stake and gets the same result everytime. He just never learns.

The craziest part is that, at multiple different times, he had literally six figures of winnings…
Had he even set aside 10% of his winnings every day, gave to his parents to hold in an escrow, and practiced proper bankroll management playing cards he could’ve turned it into a good living.
What’s even more disgusting is that with that much money he could simply do sports arbitrage betting every day and make bank with essentially zero risk of losing money… but he’s literally such a degenerate addicted that that’s impossible to even fathom. It’s genuinely disgusting.

Bossman is reletively new to me. he is probably one of the fastest roller coaster lolcows I've ever seen. From a minute to minute basis he can go from 'my life sucks' to 'YAAAAA, WHAT CAR AM I GONNA BUY!" then back to self destruction. It is genuinely painful and exciting to watch him. he will get 30k and piss it away in less than a minute then say he is an idiot and hates his life. Just to go on a run again and get a huge ego and lose it all the next minute. He is a total madman, having some of the least self control I've ever seen.
He got on a huge run and made 185k, several times along the way he'd say "I'm gonna bank it" and it in the same moment go back to the game and bet again. His brain seems to be in constant flux. I've seen him call his drug guy, lose it all five mins later, call his drug guy to say the deal is off. Make it all back and call him again, then lose it all again. In less than 15 mins.
And if it wasn't enough he speeruns the end point of out of control lolcows too, cause unlike Daniel larsonwho took years to be arrested, or Chris. He recently got arrested for assault and drug possession, already on probation I think he's going for five years. Holy hell this dude has the gas on all the time.
The less fun part is how he treats his parents, that's just super bad. Duering that run of 185k he called his dad and his dad said "Just deposit it before you loseit, ok?" he then got mad and called him a buzzkill after the call..... like dude. He is the smart one here, stop celebrating and having a huge ego for a second and do as he says. Doesn't matter he pissed it all away in like a day or two cause he just pulls from his bank when he reaches zero and never stops until he has nothing. His ego is just insane when he actually wins too... he's celebrating and acting like he's some god of gambling when he plays primarily total luck games. You just press a button and hope you get the green number instead of a red number. Or just pick squares and hope you get gems instead of bombs. And as we see any time someone insinuates he'll just lose it all he gets super angry, despite the fact that it does happen 100% of the time.
I mean he showed his dms to his sponsor and without any shame shows he his contacts message saying he's bet 5.5 million dollars across two weeks, and him begging and pestering them for juicers. His combo of addictions and literal totallack of self control makes him one of the worst cases of addiction I've ever seen. No amount of rock bottom was gonna save him. maybe prison will help, I hope so.

Games like poker or whatever he's playing are about the long game. In the short term, you'll lose tons of money, in the long term, there's a legitimate chance to win an incredible amount. It's why casinos will eventually stop you from playing. The casinos giving you money is a marketing ploy. For the million dollars a player makes, there's now a million people betting on winning now too.

    • @and_the_first_last

@@lastsong7159 Poker is about knowing when to fold, and how to trick others into folding. You're right that it's about the long game, since you can gain skill over time. The games Bossmanjack plays are about clicking a button and then seeing whether you win 20k or lose all your money, with odds mathematically guaranteed to give the house a profit. They can let him win big occasionally since anyone who gambles as much as he does is sure to be an addict, so he'll be giving all that money back to them like clockwork.

    • @presentfactory
      @presentfactory 6 місяців тому

Because it's not, if anything it's much more preferable to real gambling where the internals of machines and stuff are unknown. Online gambling is provably fair using the magic of cryptography so you can always validate that the site is doing the proper calculations.
This is usually done via a commitment scheme, e.g. if you had a coin flip you could "call" the result of the flip in advance as the user, encrypt that call with a random device-local key, and then send only the encrypted call to the server as your commitment. The server would then roll a random number and tell you if the coin was heads or tails, and you send back the key you generated so that the server can reveal your call. This ensures you cannot change your call after the coin has been flipped and the server cannot know what your call was until you reveal it post-flip which prevents it from cheating in that regard.
Of course, the coin could still be unfair using a biased RNG algorithm, but there's more stuff in place to make that fair via hashing a combination of a client and server seed, so as long as the hashing algorithm is uniformly distributed (which it is since it uses cryptographic hashes like SHA-256) then it's fine.
The house always wins still though, pretty sure their games always have a slight edge on the house's side to ensure they on average make money (the dice game in the video has like an 0.5% edge to the house), but yeah beyond that it is more fair than you'd expect as they do tell you the odds and everything up front and you can verify it all. They don't need to rig anything because statistically they will just keep making money with the odds they have on their games, that's the "beauty" of it. People are just stupid and gamble regardless for some reason because they don't understand it'll always cause them to lose everything.
