I'm a guitarist but I want to try to play drums and I'm looking for a Millennium 850. Do you have some thoughts about this E-Drum?

Hey man - it looks good but I’ve never tried it before. Try to find something that emulates a real drum shell and 2 ply Mesh Drumheads.

Donner, Millennium, Alesis(except for the Alesis Strata Prime or the Strata Core), Simmons, and Fesley are all brands that should be avoided if you are serious about learning drums. These are all fairly cheaply made e-kits that are more like a toy of what a drum set should be. Most of these brands do not trigger as accurately as they should. They do not sound as authentic as they could. Most of these brands have a hi-hat on the rack(making it unrealistic and awkward to play), The Millennium does have a hi-hat on a stand, but most who have this e-kit hates the hi-hat as it does not respond correctly and most have switched it out for a better one. The Millennium e-kit does look cool, but besides the hi-hat issue, there is crosstalk that can not be completely dialed away. The other problem with the brands I mention is if you learn on these, you can only learn the basics of drumming as they do not have all the zones, are not very sensitive, do not have enough variations of sound, and are not very durable. Once you have mastered one of these e-kits and you go to play an accustic drum set or a high-end e-kit, you find it will be like learning to play drums over again because the playability, sensitivity, dynamics, sound and sound variations are so different. Personally, I like an e-kit that is as close to an accustic drum set as possible. This not only makes a seamless transition between your e-kit and an accustic drum set. The other thing with a good higher-end e-kit is that they will work fantastic for practice, recording, and playing live. Yes, higher-end good e-kits are expensive, but rather than having to upgrade a lower-end e-kit or buy a better one down the road, you will save money and be happier with an e-kit that is 99% just like an accustic drum set. I would do more research into the world of e-kits, especially watch videos on the Millennium to understand why it is not that good and which ones are better. I would look into Roland, Efnote, or Atv brands as you can get reasonably priced high-end e-kits from them. The other thing to look into is not only can EDrum Center sell you a good brand higher-end e-kit, they can build you a custom e-kit with just about any shell package, triggers, and module you want. If you live in the United States with shipping and custom fees, the Millennium e-kit becomes too expensive for what it is to bother. If you live in Europe, the Millennium e-kit is not as expensive to get and is almost worth the price if it did not come with issues.

@Iamadrummer this is an entry level kit. Great practice tool if you have an acoustic kit as well
