Haven’t camped in about 10 years due to work, and depression. But stopped drinking almost a year ago and now I’m ready to camp again, spent A lot of money on new camping gear, and the first weekend Im going out, its gonna rain… Guess it will be a good test of the new stuff. I got the big Agnes black tail hotel 3 backpacking tent so lets hope it doesnt leak!
Happy to hear you’re getting back out there. Hope you have a great time!
@Ian.. thanks, I just laugh at my luck sometimes. It’s gonna be 70 and sunny till Saturday, then on Sunday, the day I’m leaving, its gonna be 62 and raining. Riding 70 miles to get to the camp site on my bicycle. Would’ve been nice to catch some of this good weather we’re getting on the oregon coast.
Congrats on your sobriety. It’s now time to camp again!
Congratulations on your new journey in life! Just take an extra tarp if it start leaking throw the tarp over it! Enjoy the trip!
@@crystalawrey2362 Oh yea I got a tarp. Gonna be my first time setting one up but I got some of this channels tarp set ups downloaded to help.
I could listen to thunder and rain all day
And all night
Same.
Me too I love it!!
I love the way you talk to us as if we are there with you. I also think you are the best nature videographer. Far out performing anyone else on YT. Yup... I'm a fan!👍
Great camerawork as always, Luke. Thanks for continuing to bring us these videos!
I love you guys, Suzie & Luke!
Good to know you weren't alone on the mountain. Eye shine at 36.55, just left of the tree. All the best.
❤ I love the fact you show the good with the bad stuff whether it's gear or even just places y'all have traveled. Thanks for being real and true.
Luke, I think you're a storm chaser. Every time I watch your videos they take place during a storm. Exciting, but how do you find that many storms?
Yeah I think Luke should get into storm chasing. But it’s very dangerous and only for absolute experts in meteorology. Unfortunately.
As always this is just another one of Luke’s fantastic videos! Thanks
Like, one of your best in terms of editing and shot selection.
Your confidence, just getting out there, is inspiring.
I really, really like your channel Luke. I appreciate so much your bravery, honest and knowledge.❤
Always the best! I have to have coffee ☕ and something to eat when I watch you Luke! Srength and honor ✊✊✊
I forgot to comment on your last video about how much I appreciate your efforts in editing these videos, makes it feel almost like we’re there with you. Also the sound quality is amazing. Great job as always Luke. Take care and be safe.
Ps- to Mike Wilson , keep fighting that evil cancer stuff buddy. You can beat it!!!!
Hey Luke, another great overnight camp. The eagle was a bonus! Let’s see if the winter predictions turn out to be true for our area. Looking forward to your first camp in the snow. Thank you for sharing. S&H…🇺🇸
Love that you go out in storms. Love to listen to them and watch the lightning. Idk what was making the noise on the way in, if you were doing an asmr thing re the gravel or if it was your backpack but gosh it was annoying.
Really appreciated you mentioning the washes. I couldn’t pick one to save my life, so if you could go into really obvious detail that would be great. My father would just dig a big old ditch around the tent to direct the water away. Not sure if it’s a good or bad idea but he did it most every time (despite the fact we live where there’s not a whole lot of rain)
Its not a video from Luke without rain, storms, snow, ice or all of them together. lol Nice video.
I have to tell you your tarp organization is awesome. I've learned a couple things about proper set up for conditions and options you have.
Luke, you consistently deliver very good, and useful videos.
I am a viewer from Germany and since more than a year I appreciate your channel. It feels so thrilling when you are situated in severe thunderstorms but the way how you handle those situations is amazing. This is all combined with your explanations which sound comfortable and it takes me inside the adventure. Move on and make some more of these trips. By the way it would be nice to mention also degree Celsius and METERS (Kilometers)😊
Hope that this finds you in good health!
May I suggest instead of tying your guy line to a rock, as high winds will pull it free from the rock. If you tie it to a stick then place one or more rocks on the stick, it will be much more stable.
Heyy Luke the views are beautiful ,the rain sounded so soothing on the tarp, I wouldn't be able to sleep I don't like lightning or thunder, and the little critters crawling around is a no ,stay safe out there
If I drank that coffee I would be in the hospital! Great video!
I love the camp site and oh that change to darkness! I love the mysterious forest. Keep up your great videos and adventures but be sure to keep safe. I am in my 70's and want to see you and Susie camping in your 70's. Auntiem 🌩⛈☔
Thanks for sharing with us. Stay safe . Journey Mercies !!🙏💟
Sweet video3d storm! Beautiful time to be out!
I like the cold weather
And I like watching the Rain
The weather up on Whitetop is crazy sometimes!
You put a LOT of camera work into your videos! Awesome as always!!!
I like the fact that you use rocks and tree roots to tie off your guy lines.
Hi Luke!: GREAT Adventure! That tent looked pretty good! And the Alky stove was interesting!
I love your channel. Looking forward to your hikes with Susie and your winter camping and gear testing. Have you ever thought about giving camping tours with small groups joining you. That will be nice, but I understand you don’t like being around a lot of people. I’m an introvert, but I would pay to camp with you and Susie. You Guys are wonderful. Also, have you ever thought about hiking in Medicine Bow, Wyoming. That would be nice. Thank you for sharing🐞👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽🐞
Awesome video buddy. Looks like a fun trip into the woods and some solitude. I hope to get some of that soon. Always interesting and informing, love your adventure vids and reviews.
From Charlotte North Carolina, hey LUKE !
Loved the intro and leading into your gear review logo at the beginning with the rain drops coming down it. Little subtle things like that really makes the video to me!
As we get closer to winter, I've always wondered. Do you perfer bundling up in a tent or having a stove? I've seen you do both, but I can't imagine having to rely on a warm sleeping bag in a tent that may get condensation or water in it.
Wonderful video! So calming, thank you so much!
If i may suggest one thing: I'd love if you could also implement the packing of your backpack in the morning. I for my part am still figuring out how to fit all the gear for a nice backpack-fit. I'd love to see your style out in the field.
Keep up the good work brother
Great video Luke as ever, when the snow comes I will looking forward to the videos then, thanks for the few years of videos , as an older person in the UK I appreciate it,thanks from Liverpool, Peter.
Wow that cloud formation
Great video Luke!
That coffee, I'd be awake all night.
That bird sounded huge!
Interesting location for the tent setup, downstream of the tarp runoff. lol
Luke, definitely i love this channel,,all you hard work in your videos..
Quiet place is nice but i love when you talk so the outdoors is my favorite.🥳😸
Great job on the video
Luke hiking out be safe my friend and take early talk to you soon, see you on the next Adventure my friend
You are great at this video thing, thank you for your time and you are appreciated.
I like the stuff at the very end, kind of fun and yes I think the next one will be wet because you love that stuff 😆
The audio did indeed picked up the sound of the wings and the bird sounded BIG! The heliport base my husband used to fly to the Gulf of Mexico for an oil company would often have eagles flying around it and sometimes, they would be on the ground on the heliport. Mike said they're huge birds! They got to see them up close. He would also see coyotes, who would be skulking around the helipads. Oh, and lots of rabbits. Both the Eagles and the coyotes, would hunt the rabbits. In the mornings the pilot would have to go out to the helipad and make sure it was clear of critters.
Be careful, now, that could be a Pteradactyl!
I went and watched some of Vee's videos. You were right--He's really cool.
another good video..thanks for sharing
Cool storm shots. I would never go out in weather like that but I don’t have to because ….. there’s Luke!
Awesome!
Photo printed on metal. Sweet!
I have been using mosquito punks or coils since I was a kid and I’m 63 now. Everybody in Hawaii uses them.
I think I’ve told you this??? But anyway, I was sat reading in my caravan in North Wales, just out side of Mynaytho, near Abersoch. It had been great weather for a week. It was rumbling all around. I was just sat in the van reading and watching the storm too. There was such a flipping crack of lightning, not far from the van. It scared the you know what out of me. The book I was reading shot off and I nearly ended up on the caravan floor. It scared the living day light out of me. The lightning strike, was literally just in the next Feild. In fact, I’m not sure that lightning touched the ground. It scared me too death. Everyone’s electric in the caravans had gone. As we were on electric points. The year before, there was a twister at the back of Abersoch. We were all watching in the sun. But Abersoch was as black as my hat. We watched it do out too sea in Cardigan bay. Then about half way across, it dissipated. 😮😅😊❤❤❤❤
just send a doughnut along with it next time Luke, they’ll let the camping food slide, but confiscate the donut every time 😅
Be safe Luke
My coffee choice, Kicking Horse coffee. I grind enough beans for 12 cups for 4 cups of water.
Watching you put up tents like you were setting up a checkerboard makes me jealous! When my husband sets up a tent I hear words I never knew existed!
I'd like to see a company send you a very unusual tent and watch you set it up live!
My money would still be on your skills!
Luke u are absolutely buff looking good dude ! now that’s how to put the strength in strength and honour💪👍
And at 5’ 4” tall, he’s so non threatening to women. He’s like a cuddly little action figure. 🦶⛺️
And who says short guys can’t get girls? His wife is adorable. And I mean that with the utmost respect.
Hi luke hope you and your family are doing well. I really enjoy this latest vlog and the storms were amazing! I was wondering if you can do a review for disabled people? My husband lost his leg a while back and now walks with a stick and frame. We would love to restart our out door camping journey, but struggling to find the tent we need. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you again Heather, Paul and Bess the boarder collie.
If that is White top Mt. It one hell of a place to watch storms come and go.watched many a one , sometimes the storm is lower then you are.
The intro storm was magnificent and awesome 🫡
every thing flooded i had a great time lol.🤣🤣
❤everybody Loves THE LONE WOLF❤
Your right, Turmat meals are very expensive. To get them in U.K. £10.99 for bolognaise. Good job I go glamping and can make my own. But love watching you roughing it. I have wild camped myself but now like to glamping as I am getting older🤣
Hi Luke, my mum keeps telling me that when she was little her family went camping, and her father would dig a trench around the tent, with part of the trench forcing the water away from the tent so they don't get water into the tent.
I love your channel. And coffee makes everything great, in my opinion. Fantastic video. ❤
I always watch your videos just because of your coffee drinking
I love a rainy night
Never underestimate the damage trees or limbs can do. A family friend was killed at the height of COVID by a falling tree limb while simply out walking in a paved neighborhood trail. When I saw the photo of the offending limb I just couldn’t believe it. I wish I could post it here but it was about seven feet long and at its max about a three inch diameter.
Anyone that watches your channel know you love coffee. Have you ever tried a different brewing method? Like a Bialetti Moka Express? It makes a strong rich brew.
Your MRE was a surprise, but I guess I'm thinking about the old C-rations I ate as a kid. Some was really mystery food.
Military MRES rations and freeze-dried meals.
Throughout the past 80 plus years, have all had their ups and Downs and their pros and cons. My Uncle was in Vietnam and he got to eat. Most of the rations and canned foods that the military had at that time used to tell us about the different types. My father was in the Marine Corps for 20 years he worked logistics, so we had access to the various MRES that the military HAD during the 80s and 90s. Those ones were always very interesting to try. 😅
Ah, thunder and lightning, my favourite …
I did a mountain bike adventure the hills north of town. That road was steeper that it looked. I was scouting where I could overnight camp. I will hike it. I had to do the mountain bike version of four wheel drive. Dismount and walk most of the way. When I am doing uphill climbs, It is like I am charging a battery. When it is time to come back down, It is like having a DIY eBike.
Prayers and happy thoughts for you Mike keep up the good fight. And Luke you keep up your videos I absolutely love them my family used to go camping for weeks at a time when we lived in California The Indians thought we were crazy.Told my dad the big man would get us.Cause. they believed in bigfoot
Mothman strikes again LOL
We rarely get decent MRE's, and when we do, it's stupid expensive.
We don't get snow during Christmas, in actual fact, I've never even touched snow before 😂.
Have a good one 🤙
Just getting ready to ask about the green thing you lit.Very smart.Always enjoy 💝
I really enjoy watching your video’s. The editing is amazing! Those Turmat meals are € 12,- in the Netherlands I see.
Reminds me of irish forest ,living vicariously with this unfortunately I have pretty sure a varicocele, no harley can't walk far sucks the last few weeks
And as Luke walks into the fog and disappears lol - any of us would be " Now Where's That Dang Camera " lol Thank u once again for ur EFFORTS to entertain the masses 😀👍👍
LOOK AT THAT TENT FLOPPING FROM INSIDE VIDEO FROM ALL THE WIND OUTSIDE-THE TENT WALLS ARE NOT EVEN MOVING !!
Cheers, I am having a cup of Coffee with ya as I am watching your video. Really I think you missed your calling, I think you should be a Weather Man you would rock. As always I enjoy watching
We also have those black flies here in vermont. It wasn't the bug repellent it was the storm. Have you ever noticed that just before a thunderstorm all the bugs disappear. Fact.
You always go home when the storm is just getting good. Stay on the mountain. 😅. We want to see how bad it can get.
Your Dehydrated food-What if you run out of water? You Dont Eat-Danty Moore beefe stew in can dont need heat or water
Luke, where did you hear that lighting needs to be right over you or really close for you to see it?? Because that surely isnt the case Sir!
Looks like loads of fun.
But..
PcT thru hikers be saying, guy thats alotta pouches.
You can hear the thunder bouncing off the dome.
Sure bits City 🚦 living for sure....
Dang wish little bit i could live near someplace where is rains a lot
I just don’t think I could go camping by myself I would have to have someone with me.
you guys have the best storms ...........love ........
Luke, when are you and Susie going out again?
Great video as always! Are those Columbia shoes that you wearing? You should do a video about footwear in the future!
I came here to ask the same. They must be decent shoes, he's worn them in most of his videos this year
@jimmyzulu85 looks like those shoes are the Columbia Crestwood in the Nori/Black color
We have cranes around here. They are huge birds
Much better some sound.
ok young man of the younger generation, I feel you can keep a civil Toung when you talk, I hear you do not need to curs to complete a sentence. Very nice input for those that need an honest person to tell it like it is, as far as equipment for camping. Thank you and may God our Father keep you salfe,
Luke, you'd be a good instructor for doing this type of camping for like-minded people. You should look into it, if you already haven't done it.
Lol the weather forecasters make it all up, it cold or mild winter is usually a 50/50 chance of either. That's in Britain, but of course your part of a very large continental land mass so maybe its different where you are. Those dehydrated meals are choc full of salt, what with your bad habits with coffee your headed for a stroke or heart attack, so be mindful that damage can be caused by seemingly harmless small increments. It's all about moderation.
That bug repellent your using is called Katol in Filipino, still in use in the Philippines at provincial towns not in big cities tho..,
***SHOUT OUT TO MIKE*** I too am going through Cancer treatments CHEMO and RADIATION and it **F**ing Sucks for sure. I have not been able to eat solid food in a month due to nausea and vomiting. I truly wish you 1000% Success and a speedy FULL Recovery.
