We had to come check out your garden! Loving your collection of maples! We subscribed to your channel and look forward to seeing more of your videos! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you! Yes, we use both Acer palmatum subsp Palmatum and Atropurpureum. Both have V8 engines with hybrid vigour. For our own stock plants, it doesn't really matter which, as they are only used for scion donation. We try and use matching rootstock whenever possible for production plants that go out to customers. Many of our palmatum rootstock have a multitude of bark colours due to natural variation, even the green leaved varieties.
Nice collection! Wish I also had more space! Looks a little bit like you bought a lot of the small trees at once! 😄 In only have to remark that your Butterfly seems to be mislabeled. To me it looks more like Honoo. Greetings to Bob! 😉
Yes! My Butterfly is looking out of sorts this year. I had lots of dieback over the winter, cutting it back late. Was also hit by late frost. Usually it is flushed pink by now. This part of the garden is north facing, so it won't colour up properly until later in the spring. The grafts of this in the back garden look like Butterfly should already. I've been a fan of your channel for some time. 👍 Bob says "hi". 👋

Looking forward to see them.
For me not having enough space is the limiting factor 😐😐
Can I get seeds of this plant
They are all beautiful but my favorite is Acer shirasawanum "Autumn Moon"
Yes, Autumn Moon is a very special cultivar. In our Top 10 for sure.
I do like the dark reds
Outstanding collection, congratulations, I noticed a lot of your rootstock is red that has my Curiosity peeking ?

Hi, thanks! Yes, I recorded one last week. Will upload tomorrow.
What was that beautiful Red Acer called at the start of the video please 🙏🏻 ❓
The first one is Acer palmatum 'Atropurpureum'. All of the plant names are shown in the subtitles.
Lovely collection you have.
I have 30 types of maples in my garden most of them above 100cm.
I was looking at that keiser laceleaf. But I can’t find any info online about it. I want one!
Yes, it is a beauty! It's also known as Scolopendrifolium Rubrum.
