That's a really cool idea and easily doable for pretty much anyone! I have a very old drillpress with a complicated hollow frame (a lot of bents etc.) that was really rusty inside but the rust was relatively hard. I used "owatrol oil rust sealant spray" with a long tube that has a nozzle at the end. That oil is really "thin" but once it dries it becomes like paint. It was a pretty good way to stop rust and preserving the frame. Not sure if you guys in the USA have something similiar but I would assume you do.
I rarely repaint machine cases, only if I really have to. Most of my machines just get cleaned thoroughly and I use that oil to preserve the outside of the machine. Just dont use it on moving parts.

Good idea, another great thing is some stuff called Evaporust, maybe you could have filled it up with that. I dont know if there was more than one hole or what but i like that stuff it last a long time

This is pretty neat, but... Is there a much smaller version of this that can fit inside a 2cm wide metal tube/pipe?

Great idea. Anyone have a way to clean out a tube that is 7-8 feet long and moderately windey?

The tool you are looking for is used to clean out oil and water passages when rebuilding an engine - they come in a variety of sizes. But honestly, your solution is probably cheaper and worth the effort.

Just wondering why you would want to clean the inside of a tube not being used as a pipe??

Keep the rust from continuing to degrade the metal over time and because I put some rust converter on it and I wanted to knock off the majority of the rust first.
