I'm from 4 years in the future......trying to find my way back to your very first video. You've come a long way Kyle. You've done amazing with your cabin and your youtube channel. I am going to look up a many of your early video as I can find. It would be nice if you could post a link starting from the beginning so those of us who didn't discover you until over the past year or so can watch your video from the beginning. Thank you!
You're not alone! My OCD won't let me rest unless I watch them in order 😂 Go under the video tab and hit oldest. That'll put them in order from the first one. It might go two or three vids & you might have to do it again (because of commercials that knock them out of order). I keep track by giving a thumbs up after each one I watch. ~Hope it helps.
Lol. Yeah that's a day I wont ever forget. Took about 5 hours of rolling, pushing, and pulling. The propane oven/stove was almost just as bad because I had to be more careful with it. I wasn't going to roll that in haha.
Got into my way back machine to see your roots. Remind me of me hauling a wood stove by hand through the wilderness fifty years ago when I was 26. My last build will be 2025 building home with son next to our forest.
That's crazy! Wow! You make me feel like I have it soooo easy! I used to think that I was the adventurous one, but I pale in comparison. Loving following your adventure! 👍😊💖
I didn’t know you could buy land in the Superior National Forest and build on it...love your Springer Spaniel...so cute! I have a Springer too, never a dull moment with a Springer around!!!🤗☀️ I am looking forward to watching your videos...really interesting!!!
We will definitely always have a springer around. They are so fun! Its private land that I bought it just happens to be surrounded by national forest on all sides. I had to get a permit from the U.S. Forest Service to be able to cut a trail to the cabin though.
Love your channel. Don't heat food in cans -- food cans (beverage cans too) have a thin plastic coating inside that can degrade under heat and release chemicals into your food
Hi Kyle. Your channel just popped up. I’m a fan of Shawn James from Ontario and his “My Self Reliance” channel. Good grief, you pulled that stove a quarter mile? You need an ATV with a trailer. I’ve subscribed and will be watching your journey. (Another MN person with 2 excellent channels is Joe: “Joe and Zaks Survival” and “Northern Seclusion”). I live in Otter Tail County in a log home. I wish you well! Your cabin has a lot of potential.
Binge watched from the latest video then backwards . I’m so impressed by your hard work , it’s a shame that yo dragged that stove all the way Then changed it for a smaller one . I’m so impressed and the end result is amazing 😉
Hello Sheila. I'll have more videos coming this week. We were home for Thanksgiving with family and were going to head back to the cabin today but the snow has delayed us until tomorrow!
Great job @KYLES CABIN , be careful warming up canned food in a fire. They coat the inside of the cans now with a harmful chemical. If it melts into your food I read it's not safe for consumption. Be safe my dood!
Great stuff. One thing, getting hurt way out there and by yourself can suck badly (not that I'd know about such things, of course, lol.) When you were freehand-cutting your dinner.....we have these things called cutting boards (any board will do.) 'Could save a nasty, needless cut. 'Just sayin...
You got some Beautiful land a lot of wood might last you awhile . Cabin looks pretty good , I know it takes times / do u have a well yet . Cleaning up take awhile but can work inside so u have some counter or place to keep ur can goods , lil at a time . If that path was clear out could you drive in closer to your cabin .just saying . My ex I am live in a place up by strawberry California off grid we live a small trailer with camper for my kitchen . Ran a generator . Haul our water in plastic barrels . Till they dug a well . I cook on my wood stove when we ran out of propane . But it’s a good life . I miss that way of life nor many people can handle that . I can
Great job Kyle.. MN boy here also. Looks like a great spot you got. What are some of your plans? Out house? Garden? We would all love to know. Either way, a fun ass project with endless opportunities. I cant wait to see where this place takes you. If you ever need help let me know. Can't wait till the next one.
If it were just me I would have an outhouse. Since I have my lady out there im adding a room out the back that will have a composting toilet and shower. I will have a video of that this week hopefully!
Well we just got 14 inches of snow so quad season is over haha. I might get a snowmobile. I'm on a tight budget since im spending the winter there. With the snow our hike in is now 2.5 miles so I might have to get one! If you're not hauling in stuff it's not so bad but I'm always pulling stuff in with the sled it seems.
@@KYLESCABIN Thanks for the reply, yup, your going to need both and a trailer for the quad too, just finished building a trailer for my quad, going to be a must have for your project, following….
They say the old timers were tougher than kids today, but in the old pre ww2 woodcraft books they are all like, then strap your woodstove to your mule and haul it into your cabin site, or 50s through 70's dudes would just illegally cut a jeep trail through public land to haul the heavy stuff in like wood stoves and cement sacks etc. When i built my first cabin in 2004, i definitely drug thousands of lbs of building materials (that i pulled out of dumpsters in the big city where i lived, cause jobs) out to my cabin site, hah.
Yes it was. I'm going to make a video about it called "how to talk your girlfriend/wife into living in the woods". I honestly cant believe that she's out here. When I first started talking about it she want nothing to do with it at all. It took a lot but once she got out here she fell in love with it. My advice would be to be open minded and just give it a shot. Tell your husband what you would want in order to be comfortable and he will do it for you. I let Cierra decorate and design pretty much the whole inside of the cabin. As long as she didn't make it too girly.. lol. Her requests were she wanted an indoor bathroom and a way to get clean. I am currently building us an indoor bathroom with a shower (I will have a video of that soon). I personally am fine with just an outhouse. I lived like that in Alaska. But since she's out here and wants to be I have no problem doing whatever I can do to make her as comfortable as possible.
Also, the amount of money you would save is life changing. Rather than spending a huge amount of money on a house payment or rent you can spend it doing fun things together. Just think about how much different your life could be if you didn't have a house payment or rent. You can build a comfortable cabin this size for really cheap. Plus you get to make it how you want it and that's a lot of fun.
Well it would a drastic change. We are from South Mississippi so snow is something we rarely ever see. Also we aren't as young as the two of you. Maybe as a getaway.
@@crystalscastle6836 it doesn't take long to get used to the cold and the snow. I rarely ever feel cold. You just have to dress properly. Snow is beautiful. Cierra and I always say it's like living in a snow globe where we are lol.

Its private land within the national forest. Its landlocked by national forest land for miles in every direction. I had to get a permit for a trail to be able to access the land since it goes through national forest land. But the land itself is private.

I live in a rural area, see wolves and bears walk though my neighborhood, and, have never felt threatened. At most when i take my dogs out at night, i carry on of those air warning horns to scare off anything i might encounter. Nice to see you have a remote cabin, but, get real about the gun. If you want to keep bears away from your windows, get some of those really sharp bow saw blades, and, tack them along the window sill with some spacers, it will keep the bears from putting their paws on the windows.
