For me, and a great many others, it was of tremendous benefit for your audition to have not worked out. What luck for us all for you to have failed so that you could thereafter bring all your talent to the rest of us : )
Nocturnus is definitely one of the best bands to ever grace the death metal genre because they were so talented and even in a rehersal, sounded flawless. Got anymore footage from this rehersal?
+Biggerberger Mike Davis was a good guy all around. He played guitar far better than I, and he never acted like it one bit. He was always happy to watch me play my strange chord progressions.
We're very fortunate to be able to watch this footage. UA-cam is great for videos like this. Pre internet videos like this were a lot harder to track down. With UA-cam you just type in a couple of words and bam it's there.
That's true. For most people is considered shitty but if they were witnessing a Nocturnus live they would be blown up and never want to coma to today's sound
Charvel & Jackson guitars of the time and I see a Randall on the back. But in my opinion and from what I 've heard and researched a little bit I believe they were not using multieffect pedals but stomps or direct plug to the amp and the coils on the guitars were not super ultra heavy distortions but classic distortions like super distortion and similar. This explains the rich harmonics even on shitty videos ;)
@slaytanicwehrmact76 Agree with everything except the equipment ... those were times in which level of distortion didn't matter as much as the quality of it. Today is too much distortion and technological equipment to cover mistakes and virtually enhance sound, so you can easily observe flatness on rehearsals and lives many times. Bands like Nocturnus knew how they will sound even with shitty equipment because there was research before play. Nocturnus will always multidimensionally kick asses !
So talented, so original. They put a lot of the newer bands to shame. The Key is still one of my favourite albums 20 years on!
Absu-lutely! NOCTURNUS!!!!⛧🤘
now 30 years on!! :-)
that's me on bass -

Yeah and that's me playing both guitars, drums and keyboards as well as being the cameraman all at once.
Underrated band and music ahead of its time
Absu-lutely! NOCTURNUS!!!!⛧🤘
They were just kids and they were playing neo-classical. I find that to be awe stunning.

Lake of fire! The solos are so perfect! I love so much this band.
Underated asf the key is a top 10 DM album of all time
До сих пор в голове не укладывается. Так молоды в то время, и такое развитое музыкальное мышление и высокий уровень исполнения! Гениально!
